Zoe's moods have been in the dumps lately, probably longer than she cared to admit. Having lost the use of her legs when she was fourteen and facing the prospect of losing her job, she craved a change. Maybe even some hope.

When the Aliens came to Earth the year before, they built EFPCs, mate-matching centers. Places that might offer her what she wanted. So what was the problem? If they could give her the ability to walk again, she thought she could make an exchange; her way of life for her legs. She'd be required to mate an alien. Was she ready for not only the mating, but also her first steps in years? She didn't know, but she was going to find out. And what if her exchange was for more than she bargained for? More was better right?

For mature audiences only. 18+ Explicit Intimate Scenes, Cursing, Reverse Harem – contains M/M too.

I love dragons.
I also love writing about them.
What’s even better? Imagining flying on a dragon or as one.
My Xaerds are dragon shifters and they mate three males to one female. The concept of sharing is part of their culture.
They were a matriarchal society before the curse. Now, they have no Xaerd females. The only females on their three planets are from other planets. Their population is dropping at an alarming rate. The real estate prices are spiraling downward along with it.
They are excited when they find out human females are compatible with them.
My first book, Matched: Jennifer's Diary, released May 5, 2019.

In a galaxy right next door...

First off, read Hatched & Matched before diving in. Secondly, be open to all relationships- m/f, m/m, f/f, and all combos with multiples of each.

Zoe is tired of lugging her useless legs, useless familial guilt and beyond useless- because it's non-existent- lovelife. Alien matchmaking can not only pair her off, and ensure her family is taken care of, but it might mean the return of the use of her legs. But while her match processing goes off without a hitch, simply leaving the facility becomes exceedingly dangerous. A mysterious van runs her off the road. Waking in a basement, shaking off drugs is hard enough with functional legs. Waking up dehydrated, hungry, and shaking off drugs makes you useless dead weight to the other women in there with you. The vicous dog in the yard is really just overkill.

Spoilers ahead.
It isn't mentioned, but this is a continuation of the Diary series. A new focus, but same lack of world building. There are SO many species lacking women. Hundreds of species, made up of millions of males. Even with multiple mates women are facing overwhelming odds. And no clue why no women. They're all advanced scientifically, super healers, and 1 has nanites and has perfected cloning. So...to misquote a Mel Brooks movie, "Where're all the women at?" Zoe winds up with 10 mates, 2 groups have already pre-bonded with each other, 1 group is hastily assembled after 1 of the quad realizes she's his mate. Each group seems to have 2 kinds of bonds, with each other and with their mate. Klaxians mate in 4s, either 4 males, or 3+female. As they have nanites and clone, the female issue can be bypassed. Angels are a quad plus female. Quads can exist without women, but no breeding without them. Keras, no idea in group size, but bond with each other and mates. There's still no world building. Each has had issues with their planets, some still do, but fuss about how polluted Earth is. I was a little sad that Zoe's main interest, initially, was just her legs. Her kidnapping was glossed, over quickly, and while supposedly bad enough she withered some, wasn't long enough to actually do that. Also, @20 women. A scout group couldn't escape and get help? Leave a lookout group in the woods to overpower the lone kidnapper? Sure, Zoe wasn't going anywhere without her chair, but, with that many women there were options that included the window they had access to. Her Klaxian mates rushed her nanites, risking her health if there was a reaction. None of the aliens had any issues with human foods. One set of mates was ok with black market animal sales, of which they only shrugged when learning some of their cargo was actually shifters. Another planet of lonely males is added. And Zoe may have healing nanites but 10 mates is a lot to take on in a single day of forming bonds. They still haven't settled on a planet, mates keep getting kidnapped, there's talk of relocating agriculture with them but no talks about how that may affect the chosen environment (invasive species can kill off flora and fauna, both the moved and what's invaded). Can cows eat alien grasses? There's a million moving parts here, the focus just keeps changing, the story keeps adding more parts, and nothing feels resolved. Jennifer, from the Diary series, is some galaxy leader with too many mates to name, the women with her disappeared from the storyline, Zoe hasn't really grown as a character and is ending with a HFN, and the next one swaps her out with Betty, one of the other kidnapped women. Yet, Zoe's mom, sister and grandmother, plus a couple rescued kidnap victims, all joined the registry, moved planets and then a few aquired mates. Those threads got dropped just like the women in Jennifer's timeline. Maybe if they were given in between novellas? Flesh them out a bit before powering on. While there are parts I loved about this series- consent, multiple species, multiple mates, new planets and cultures; there are things I didn't like, too. Zoe goes from virgin (be prepared to read that word way more than you want to) to nympho in a second flat. Each group has a bond outside the mate bond. But all 10, 3 species, form a bond with each other. They didn't seem prepared to do that, but after a barked order by Zoe, simply stripped and went at each other. Being ok with homosexual relationships is 1 thing. Being commanded to jump on a guy you just met an hour ago? Just because you share a mate? And how they treat Moon is awful. His bonding is almost more punishment because of something that was out of his control. I really want to take these books, shake them off, pad some things, tweak others, add a healthy dollop of background and see what they could become. There's a lot of interesting things hidden in there.

This was written mostly as how things are progressing. Such, this happened then that happened and one character did something. An entire chapter would be 2 paragraphs about something a character did which had nothing to do with the story. Not much dialogue between characters. It was mostly internal musings. But if you like your romance written as a documentary, this one’s for you.

Two stars. I want to live the story along with the heroine, feel it, experience it... not to be told like a telegraphed message.

DNF at 28%. There is so much telling and zero showing in this book. Almost every interaction is summarised by the FMC. The dialogue is related by the FMC in this manner:
Tears were running down the sides of my face into my hair; I knew it was relief tears. Tanner asked me if I was all right and I explained that the tears were due to me being happy and not to worry. I explained that people cried for different reasons and happiness was one, sadness was another, allergies, and so on.
Instead of allowing us to experience what was actually said and letting us feel the connection between the FMC and Tanner as they got to know each other, everything was summarised in two sentences. This happened many, many times throughout the book, and I couldn't stand it any longer because I just wasn't connecting with the characters. How can I connect with them when I don't even get to watch them talk to each other?

The writing is extremely amateurish. So many sentences begin the same way, like "Tanner said this or that", or "I did this or that". See this excerpt:
Theo finally returned and handed me the bags to inspect. My mates looked worried that the purchases would be inadequate. I opened each bag and emptied them on the bed so I could see what was there. I looked at the sizes and he had purchased the correct ones. I didn’t know how he knew what sizes I needed for each type of garment. I pulled out undies and asked them to turn around; I wasn’t sure why since they’d already seen me naked and had obviously seen everything since they bathed me. At any rate, they complied with my request.
I... blah blah blah. I... blah blah blah. I... blah blah blah. There's no variety in the sentence structures, which makes it very boring to read and also makes it sound like it was written by someone very young and inexperienced.

The story development is also poor; she meets her mates and immediately gives them new names, not even pausing to think if the names might match their personalities, or waiting to get to know them a bit before deciding on something so momentous and permanent. Do parents name babies on the spur of the moment? I don't think most do. So why would a woman name her mates the moment she clapped eyes on them?

Not to mention that she was abducted just after being matched to them (before they met her) and the whole part of them tracking her abductor down and locating her was just left out of the book. Plus, they made it look like it was so easy to trace her when the authorities on Earth hadn't been able to capture this guy who had been kidnapping scores of other women! One of the other kidnap victims already had two matched alien mates, but they hadn't been able to find her either, yet our FMC's mates managed to do it within a matter of days. I really needed more explanation about that.

One last observation: When the police raid the place where the women are held, a policeman comes down into the basement, yelling, "Hands up, it's the police!" Then, when he sees it's only all the women victims in there, half-starved and huddled together, this is what he says:
"Sorry, you can put your hands down. I didn't realise there were only captives down here. We are supposed to say that in case the perpetrator is hiding." He looked around at the various conditions of the twenty women and whistled. "He's been busy. Glad we found you before he did whatever he was planning to do. We think he was going to sell you to off-world slavers. We don't have proof of that, though."
I rolled my eyes so hard, I'm surprised they didn't fall out of my head. How unprofessional can a policeman get? Again, my impression is that this author is very young and needs to conduct more research to make her story more believable and flesh it out much better.

I have no idea how this book has such high ratings on Goodreads. This book really needs a rewrite. I think the story has good bones but the author needs more help developing it into a truly absorbing story, one that would grip readers from the start and not let them go.

Stilted writing

I really wanted to like this book but the writing style is not my favorite and it was really hard to get immersed within the story.

I really love Zoe as a character, she is strong yet still has her faults. This is an exciting, and steamy read that helps introduce more characters into the uniquely and creatively created/built universe/world. This can be read as a complete standalone story but leaves for many opening for other mating groups and Zoe and her mates to be incorporated into other stories. I really hope that this is not the last time we see Zoe and her mates. This is well written where the multiple POVs help get to know character better, faster and tells a more complete story. I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased, honest review.

I love Zoe. She has pretty much lost all hope as one bad thing happened after another, so why not try a change of everything. This story is steamy, exciting, inspiring, and completely mind blowing. It has very vivid details that make you feel like you are on another planet with the characters. I love this book and recommend it as a mind blowing experience you wont want to miss.

Zoe is a BBW and a paraplegic. She has a rough life and nothing seems to be going her way. Her family is full of guilt and she needs a change. Because of how young she was when she lost the use of her legs and because she refuses to do many of the things walking people do for fun, she's still a virgin.
Her family talks her into signing up for mate-matching and there's good and bad things that happen because of it.
The question is, will she ever lose her virginity. She tries but...
Zoe gets her aliens hooked on chocolate and they plot how to bring chocolate to the galaxy or at least another corner of it.
Her guys are sweet, strong, and lovable.
I loved the pirates and the 'not-feli' - too funny.

Just terrible. Couldn’t finish it. I don’t understand why the chapters were so short, I mean some were just a long sentence. Also, this is mostly mm action and I was under the impression this was a ménage. I like the attention on the heroine and this was all about the mates getting it on with each other and after 60% she’s still a virgin yet every other male orifice has been compromised! Pass!

Absolutely AWESOME😁

Great story, a little dry, but I think it's just cuz this is the first. The first of a series is usually a bit slow, but always gets better 😉. I REALLY enjoyed this story too, cuz I can see this happening especially with what's happening now 😄. This pandemic would be the perfect cover up for people from another world showing up, cuz humans are panicky sheep and sure to cause massive insanity 🤔. But, oh would I TRULY LOVE to see people from another world 😍. Thanks L Starfyre, I'm excited to read more 😃.

The concepts and world building were, well, out of this world! 👏 This book could have been a series itself, so much happened and she mated to SO many males! However, this book is written like a list of ideas and desperately needs to be fleshed out. Intense, life-changing things would happen and wouldn't get more than a monotone, one-sentance reference. There was no angst, drama, heartbreak, joy, or emotions at all in the entire story - but there was enough action that should have resulted in all those things!
I also should not the CW said FF but only MF/MM were present in this book.

Wow, this was a really different read. The writing style is so different to what I am used to - very direct, minimal descriptions and extremely fast paced. to be honest, it took me a while to get used to. I liked the premise of this story and the ideas around the aliens and world building, however I would have liked more description - particularly around character looks and personality, the action scenes, the surroundings and definitely the spice. If you read a RH book you want the spice to sing. Unfortunately it fell a little flat. Overall an interesting read.

Pretty good

Having so many mates was a bit overwhelming to try and keep up with, plus you never really get to know them. I would have liked to know more about where they settled, etc. That is why it didn't get five stars. Looking forward to another book in this series to get a better feel for them.

Interesting

Interesting story. Little character development and the insane sex scenes somehow come across very matter of fact and are not hot at all.. wish this book was rewritten and fleshed out. The main character gets the use of her legs back and you don't even care... she doesn't seem to either.. it's odd

I love the concept of the book and how the FMC was able to get her ability to walk back. I was on board for the first set of mate but once the 2nd and 3rd join it just seem a bit much. I understand the reason due to the story but stopping at 2 sets would have been good for me. I will check out one of the authors other books.

too many mates

The third set seemed unnecessarily complicated and made following the story after that too hard. Until then I was elated about this series but now I’m debating. Sldi how many abductions in a single book. Some things are explained in excruciating detail (Chinese dinner with the fam) others were just glossed over (moon situation both of them)

Straightforward poly alien smut. It was a relaxing, if plodding, read with a lot of switching between the POV of Zoe’s many husbands. But the disability rep was a mess. Zoe is a wheelchair user who longs to be “normal” and uses alien tech to heal a spinal injury. I hated everything about how her disability was handled.

Umm.. what

I have no idea what I just read. It was good, yes, the world building was also interesting. But the pacing was a bit weird. Sometimes, it was rushed , others not so much. The angels claiming each other was intense! This book was a bit of a roller coaster if I am being honest.

Delightful little snack, even though the writing style is kind of odd and very much something you have to get used to first. I personally would have been okay if the number of guys had stayed at 7, the last 3 felt kind of tacked on, but I had fun with this book and I might pick up some other things by L. Starfyre in the future.

Solid 3.5

The book was good and so where the characters but I feel a bit lost. The writing style is different. Sometimes it is like they are talking to the reader, sometimes it’s like they are speaking to a diary.

Wow what a story.

This book was Sooo fast paced. So much happens very quickly. Zoe takes it all in stride and proves that even through some tough times, we women can handle a lot! I am definitely interested in learning more about this universe that is being created.
