When the bachelor meets his match but she is not whom he expected her to be.

I very much like Mrs Bianca Blythe’s work. And this new one didn’t disappoint.
It was such a funny adaptation of the bachelor tv show, with a regency period setting.
Right from the beginning this story was a delight of cleverness and playfulness with its many battles of wits and quips, the first chapter was so filled with humor.
I was under the charm of the cheerful Jasper and his antics, the hero’s best friend. I hope he will have his book in a near future.
Hugh, the Marquess Of Metcalfe has decided to organize a kind of contest by reassembling eligible women in one place and score their attitudes and reactions, in order to select his perfect bride.
But his plan is derailed when an addition attendee joins the group and disturbs everything so well orchestrated.
Emma is a sham, impersonating a peer to enter their household, but she continues to do her brother’s bidding because he is her sole family and he is the one who took care of her. In some way, she tries to save him or avoid him to be caught in compromising situations.
One thing I wondered a lot is how Emma’s brother could have proposed her services as an assistant matchmaker with her lack of competences in nobility’s activities.
It was a fun read, just the epiphany of the main couple was a bit rushed and I would have liked a bit more fight on Emma’s part to stay on Hugh’s side, hopefully he has more constancy than her.
A 4 upped to 4.5 stars because of the drollery of the dialogues.

I was granted an advance copy by the author and I purchased my own copy.
Here is my true and unbiased opinion.

A house party for Hugh, Marquess of Metcalfe to choose a suitable bride for his marchioness is the main scene for this story. Emma’s brother is very controlling and has manipulated a place for Emma at the house party. Her task is to bring another woman to Hugh’s notice. Hugh is smitten with Emma but Emma has secrets that will make her unsuitable. I liked the characters of Emma and Hugh and enjoyed their adventures. Emma was so different from her brother, she was honest and caring. This made for an entertaining read. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Hugh Beechmont, Marquess of Metcalfe, decided to abandon his rogue life and find a wife.
As a methodical and organized person, he organized an event at his country house in Surrey and invited 8 ladies. One of them would be his marchioness.

Among the girls, a last-minute addition was made, at the insistence of Mrs. Carberry, who had a not very pretty daughter - but with a great wealth - but wanted to make sure she was the marquess's choice. To do so, Miss Margaret Carberry would rely on the help of a spy from Emma Braunschweig.

Emma was forced to participate in the scheme by her brother Bertrand.
Bertrand had taken care of Emma since the death of their parents.
They moved in with relatives until Bertrand told her that their uncle and aunt had died too and he had to sell the Inn to pay taxes.
They left Austria and went to England to try to have a better life.
To be well received, Bertrand deceived everyone into saying he was a Baron.
Emma was grateful for all her brother's efforts to keep them alive, but on the other hand, his schemes were becoming more and more dangerous.
She feared that he would be discovered as a forger and arrested, or even hanged.

By going to help Miss Carberry, Emma really wanted the lady to win the competition, but Hugh had his own methods for eliminating the undeserving ones and getting his choice.

Over the days, the attraction between the marquess and the girl-who-should-not-even-be-there increases.
But soon Emma learns of her brother's other schemes, and shame makes her take the wisest decision.
Hugh had other plans, however, and he would not let a mere detail like the enormous distance Emma put between them, hinder their happy ending.

Hugh, the Marquis of Metcalfe, prides himself on his efficiency. When he requires a bride, he knows just how to select one: a house party filled with eligible women.
Emma Braunschweig is not in search of a husband. After all, a husband might discover her family's secret. Instead, her brother has procured her a job as a companion so she can ensure the marquis chooses a certain eligible but shy heiress.
Hugh's methodical approach to marriage should make him eliminate Emma from consideration. Emma's horse-riding ability is non existent, her piano skills are atrocious, and she spends her time extolling the good qualities of another contestant.
I found this book to be a funny, entertaining read, I did suspend belief that a house party would be held & the only guests eligible young women. I didn’t warm to Hugh until later in the book, my initial opinion being that he was arrogant but my opinion did gradually change. I liked poor Emma who was like a fish out of water. I laughed out loud at times & read the book in two sittings
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

This was another enjoyable read by Bianca Blythe. This is the story about Hugh, The Marquess of Metcalfe and Emma. Hugh has decided it was time to get married, so he decided to have a house party with all the women he thought would be a good wife (a little like Bachelor). Hugh with help from his friend Jasper (who I would love to read his story) were going to rate the women on certain abilities. Emma was not really invited to the house party – she was forced to go by her brother to help one of the other women. Emma should not even be on Hugh’s list – but sometimes the heart knows what it wants. You will enjoy this story and all the characters. The time flew by while I read this story.

A Kiss for the Marquess is book 5 in the Wedding Trouble series by Bianca Blythe. I have thoroughly enjoyed each of these books. This had some wonderful laugh out loud moments. There were a few scenes that felt like “The Bachelor” Regency style. I liked the fact that the hero Hugh the Marquess of Metcalfe isn’t the typical hero - in fact he’s a bit fussy. And even more creative, Emma the heroine is Austrian and not British. She’s not a typical Regency romance heroine. Truly a very unique and lovely romance. I was gifted a copy of this book.

I would like to thank the author for a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

A selection of eligible women get invited to a house party in order for the host to choose his future bride. Emma gets invited to be a chaperone to one of the women, but falls under the gaze of the Marquees himself.

I wasn't a fan of the bachelor part, but liked the idea of the plot in general. There are a few plot holes in terms of how involved Emma is when the other chaperones are not present.

Hugh Beechmont, Marquess of Metcalfe, is hosting a house party at his castle in Surrey with his mother, the Dowager Marchioness of Metcalfe, for the obvious purpose of choosing a bride by the end of the party’s duration. As Hugh worked in his library, someone began to throw stones at the wall! When he peered outside the open window, he found his best friend, His Grace, Jasper Tierney, the Duke of Jevington, trying to hide himself and urging Hugh to sneak out to the stables where they would escape. Jasper was very upset at Hugh’s mother, forcing him to wed just so she would have a daughter-in-law and someone to command! Hugh tried to tell him that he was the one who wanted the party, but Jasper knew he was just defending his mother. As a Marquess and no longer expected to act as a rogue, Hugh was seeking a Marchioness in his new role to help him entertain ministers, to dance with him at balls, and to demonstrate the qualities most required in being a nobleman’s wife. Jasper was crestfallen at the news. But he rallied and said he would unpack his travelling clothes since they were no longer running away and would help Hugh pick out the best wife! Hugh tried to gently discourage him as his voice actually trembled!

Emma Braunschweig is not at the party to win a husband. Her brother had gotten an invitation for her for a specific task. Though completely inexperienced with being around the nobility, she is to make sure that the marquess chooses a specific eligible heiress. So Emma, who has none of the usual skillsets all young ladies were taught so that they could more readily entice a gentleman, tries to instead keep reminding Hugh of another lady’s qualities. Plans rarely go as expected, however, and this is no exception as Hugh finds himself falling for the lovely Emma. How will she get out of this unexpected situation? And how will her brother feel about the failure of his grand scheme?

This book was so much fun! Right from the start, I was open-mouthed then laughing out loud at the dialog between Hugh and Jasper. I knew right away this was a book I would adore and was intended to be comical rather than a serious Regency love story! The story line is fresh and whimsical. The characters are delightful in every way! The light-hearted approach made it all fun and a joy when it brought Emma’s matchmaking full-circle onto herself! Don’t miss this one – it was so very good if you enjoy a change of pace!

Steamy bits in this story. Not sure about this story in the series. We have Emma having to play an advisory/chaperone type role, yet going to a house party and she cannot play an instrument or ride. It is highly likely these activities would take place, so immediately there is a huge issue and it would draw attention to her and by inference her brother.
Mrs Carberry and family may have a trade background but if their daughter is considered good enough to attend this event then I am sure she would not be as gauche as she appears.
There is the way the Marquis goes about this and hiding in the walls to observe the ladies whose chaperones/mothers are dining separately. I think most mothers would have been concerned at the separate dining arrangements, and then finding the Marquis and the Duke had been hidden and observing them I think I few of the mothers would have left forthwith and the Marquis would have been viewed with deep suspicion, and his reputation badly damaged - hiding and watching young ladies through peepholes in his walls?!!!!
Then we have Emma’s brother who has been avoiding London because people know about the incident in Yorkshire. However, in the previous book he is trying to get close to a Duke, and in this story they are in Brighton, where lots of the ton go because of the Prince Regent, so surely they would see him and talk about him as they would have done in London?
Another inconsistency is Emma’s trip to Vauxhall whilst in London. Everyone at the house is in bed asleep yet it seems Vauxhall is in full swing. I think there would still have been guests/staff awake at the house.
So where does this leave me in scoring the book. I think because the story line is a bit nonsensical I have to go to 2.

A 19th Century Episode of The Bachelor, Regency Style

Hugh Beechmont, the Marquess of Medcalfe wants a wife. That said, what better way than to invite eight young ladies to his country home for a house party. He can then rate each of them. What could possibly go wrong?

Miss Emma Braunschweig has a secret. She also has a job to do, which is to make sure the marquess selects Miss Carberry. Since she has not interest in marrying, her job should be simple. What could possibly go wrong?

After reading A Kiss for the Marquess by Bianca Blythe, I was a bit conflicted about how many stars to give it.

I liked Hugh and Emma's characters. They had their own perspectives, as well as very good chemistry. I liked the dialogue, especially the witty conversations between Hugh and his best friend Jasper. I also loved the happy ending, which included an epilogue.

Sadly, this book was in dire need of an editor and proofreader. Surely they would have caught the plot errors and inconsistencies. In addition, the plot suffered because the descriptions and thoughts outweighed the dialogue and actions. This imbalance made parts of this read slow and tedious.

In the end, there were enough positives to keep me reading. I'm glad I did.

Content alert: In addition to a few religious expletives, there is passionate kissing and a moderately described sexual intimacy.

Disclosure: I received an ARC of this book from the author. I am voluntarily submitting my honest review.

This is a relatively light and fluffy Regency romance set in a later year of that period, after the Napoleonic Wars. Right from the first chapter, it seems a little over the top and not at all serious. If you just take it as that, and you enjoy Regency romance, you might find this book fun. I didn't like some of the writing style. I like my historical romances to have multiple sentences in a paragraph, not just a word, phrase, or sentence. To me, historical romance needs to have slightly elevated language, and I associate that writing style more with contemporary romance. I'm also not a fan of the word “chit” used to describe young women. It seems vaguely insulting to me and was used a lot in this book. The heroine is actually Austrian, not English, which is unusual for a Regency. I never quite warmed up to the hero, which is necessary for me to really enjoy a book. (I did like his friend Jasper, though; he was definitely comedic relief.) However, if you enjoy slightly farcical and melodramatic light regencies, you may enjoy this book.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

This is the fifth book in this delightfully lighthearted series.

If you like a bit of humor in your regency romance rather than the dull books of your mother's day, you will love reading Bianca Blythe's Wedding Trouble series.

In this book Hugh, the Marquess of Metcalfe has decided to take a wife. Rather than going about choosing his bride in the conventional way he decides to invite eight young women to a house party to get to know them, deciding by a process of elimination.

Enter Emma Braunschweig. Emma isn't looking for a husband but ends up at the party so she can ensure that her friend is the one chosen. Emma is after all very unlikely due to her lack of the appropriate skills of a wife of a Marquess.

This book like all of the others in this series has a comical air. all of these books can be read as standalone titles without getting you as the reader lost.

I gave this book 4.25 of 5.0 stars for story line and characterization.

I received a complimentary copy through Bookfunnel from the author to read. This in no way has affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

I received a copy from the author; this is my honest review.
-I love this series!
-I also love Jasper as he always makes me laugh. Apparently he doesn't love lists as Hugh does.
-Very satisfying story. Not too much drama or drama not dragged too long. I liked the setting too where the Marquess is supposedly not at home but spies on the ladies with Jasper in tow.
-Really funny how Emma is trying to up Miss Carveling (not sure of her name, sorry) in the eyes of the marquess, even talking about earthworms and such things!
-Loved the descriptions of what people are wearing, especially Miss Emma's described by Hugh.
-This time I only saw "laud" "lauding" etc. a few times. In the other books, I saw it several times in the same paragraph. Thank you for editing.
-I always said to my daughter "the one who makes you see stars when you kiss is the one you should marry"!

“Emma's horse-riding ability is questionable, her piano skills are atrocious, and she spends her time extolling the good qualities of another contestant. But can a kiss change everything?” You can guess this answer but reaching that conclusion for Emma and Hugh in Bianca Blythe’s A Kiss for the Marquess (Wedding Trouble Book 5) is no easy path. It is, however, a totally fun one. Especially when there’s a well done plot that is well written and populated by a great cast. Frankly, but for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed, I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend.

📒 This is amusing, romantic and interesting. Hugh decided to have a house party in order to pick a wife. Emma's brother arranged for her to accompany another young lady who was vying for Hugh's hand, a task she didn't have a problem with, at first anyway. As soon as Hugh saw Emma, he knew she was the one, but he needed to act as though he wasn't decided, to give her time to accept that it really was her he wanted. Emma's brother tried ruining everything when he showed up at the party, but Emma managed to thwart him. The women at the party were doing everything they could to discredit the other women while Emma kept pushing the girl her brother got paid for her to help. It was an entertaining story with a few twists along the way.

Again, I did not read this book. I just felt like the series droned on too long so I chose to stop at Book 3. The first 3 books weren't that great, with book 2 being the best. The rest of the series kept getting more chapters with less interesting plots and stories, with characters that really weren't that deserving of their own books.
From Book 5, Emma Braunschweig was brought back into the series. She first appeared in book 2, but only had a very minor role, so I didn't see the need for her to have her own story.
Book 6 came well out of the left-field with hardly any connection to the other 5 books, so no, I won't read the rest.

Exceedingly humorous piece.
First I love the cover then there are the characters and they were delightful. Emma trying so hard to get the Marquis to see this shy heiress, but oh no he has eyes on her. Hugh idea of the house party to weed out and find the right woman to marry kind of back-fired on him and it was such an enjoyable read. The author has written not just a love story but one with humor that will brighten your day when reading. I highly recommend this extremely entertaining book. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

A Kiss for a Marquess is the fifth book in the Wedding Trouble Series. It was a nice, sweet romance and had sweet characters. I liked the story, but I thought the story seemed too unbelievable. It was hard for me to connect with the hero when he seemed so "fluffy". I think I would have enjoyed the story more if a more serious side of his personality was shown. The story hinted that he had one but there was no solid evidence. Overall if you like light, silly romance this is a good book for you.

A lighthearted Regency romance based on The Bachelor reality show is amusing and witty, but not without some heartache and soul searching. Emma has been set up by her less than honourable brother as companion to a young lady whose parents have aspirations of marrying her off to a nobleman, but try as she might, Emma still manages to catch Hugh's eye. There are some laugh out loud moments, but also many cringe-worthy incidents as Emma does her best to push her employer's daughter into the limelight. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

This is a delightful story and let me tell you, the storyline is quite cheeky!
Can you imagine the pure arrogance of a man? Invite a whole lot of young ladies and their mothers to his castle just so that he can choose a wife from one of them?
And yet, I find this a very clever theme and enjoyed every second of the tale.
Loved the main characters too and even the bitchiness of some of the 'ladies'.
So, you can take this as a highly recommended from me! Well done, Bianca Blythe!

Hugh arranged a house party of eight women to pick the best bride from amongst them.

He was a rogue but needs to be serious about selecting a most proper wife.

Emma is there to encourage him to marry Margaret Carberry. Her brother is forcing her to be the family breadwinner (there’s three hundred pounds in it for him).

Her brother is terrible and they are hiding a secret.

Will Hugh choose Emma?

I enjoyed reading this book! The story of Emma and Hugh was so much fun and made me laugh out loud several times. I think the idea of having ladies come alone to a house party to be considered as a wife was different and fun. The brother was just the right amount of villain. One kiss will do it

Emma has one job to assist a lady to marry a Marquess! Hugh has decided to take a bride and why can't be stop looking at the one woman who wasn't invited who may or may not be a sister of a Baron! Emma's brother is a snooty rude thieving nodcop! Hugh is wonderful kind and handsome will she let her evil brother steal her future?

Hugh and Emma’s story is a very good read. I loved the way Emma was trying to get Hugh to pick another for his wife, but in the course of events, fell in love with him herself. Watch out for Emma’s brother, he is a piece of work!
