After three months of silence, Reynard shows up at Aria's door asking for her help in ousting a new mage who wants control of Haul Du. She sees no reason to help a man who was more than willing to toss her soul to a demon, but with the threat of an unknown enemy looming Aria needs all the friends she can get—and that might mean aligning herself with those who are more foe than friend.
But a mage war is the least of Aria’s problems. The Conclave is in town investigating Dark Iron's disappearance. As a non-Knight Aria doesn’t have the full protection of Order, and if her role in Dark Iron's death is discovered, she might end up facing the consequences for her actions or making a decision she’d hoped to never make.
Debra lives in a little house in the woods in Maryland with three sons, and a Noah’s ark of four legged family members. She has a corporate job during the day, and writes novels at night, after the kids are tucked in bed.
She drives an Excursion affectionately called The Beast, couldn’t carry a tune if you duct taped it to her back, and enjoys an occasional cosmopolitan (heavy on the vodka). On a good day, she jogs and horseback rides, hopefully managing to keep the horse between herself and the ground.
Her only known super power is ‘Identify Roadkill’.
This series has cemented itself as one of my favorites. I really enjoy this world & the characters in it. Solaria’s adventures make for a fun story. Kudos to the author & her awe worthy ability to evolve the unlikeliest of romances with the perfect amount of conflict & growth. I especially enjoyed having her badass grandmother on hand. I want to be her when I grow old. 4.5 stars
Aria’s grandma comes to visit and she’s a big influence on Aria’s magic. Reynard gets her in hot water and she’s on some ones hit list. Poor Dario is settling into his role as master but he’s totally invested in Aria’s safety and hires some eye candy as muscle. Traitors, mages and explosive situations keep you reading. Aria finally makes her mom happy vow wise. Lots of official interest helps force her to make her choice Templar wise.

This was a solid addition to the Templar series, with action, mayhem, backstabby mages, and wild turns in the story. I thought the story was a great progression in Aria's life, and I can't wait for the next book!
I love this series. This book shows how much Aria has grown throughout the series. She is stronger and holds her moral compass close. Excited for the next one
Now that she is an actual Templar maybe she will have more authority to protect her pilgrims. I hope the next book has her being turned to be Dario's mate...
Great addition to the series. Love the character development and the consistent light humor. Grandma Essie is a great addition. Hope to see more of her.
Every time I read a Debra Dunbar book, I am reminded how much I love her writing. In this story we get to know Essie, Aria's great grandmother. She is a trip. Think Betty White with powerful magic. It's a great story, thank you for another homerun.
