My parents are missing in outback Australia. Only they’ve left me clues. Clues that tell me they were close to a significant discovery – the location of a copper scroll that leads to untold treasures. A scroll that treasure hunters would kill for.
Now I’m in a race against time. Together with my Gran, best friend Jenna, my familiar Archie, and bad boy lawyer Blake Tennant, we head to an outback town called Arrowstrand, where the locals are hiding their own secrets, and I must rely on my magic and blind faith to venture into the unknown.
The stakes have never been higher; can I reach my parents before it’s too late or will they be lost forever?
This paranormal murder mystery will have you completely spellbound and laughing out loud!
Tick, tick, time is running out. When Harper’s parents fail to get on the plane to come home and no one can get a hold of them, Harper sets off to find them. Jenna, a journalist, Blake the mysterious lawyer, Gran, Harper and her familiar Archie board a jet to fly them to her parent’s last known location, the Australian Outback. As the fly across the world, they wonder what awaits them besides, the dry heat and strange creates that inhabit that part of the world. Will they find her mom and dad alive, do they have enough time to save them or are they too late?
This book has everything that makes a cozy paranormal mystery such a great read. It has magic, amazing character, unique setting, humour, danger, surprises and good mystery with all the twists and turns that keep you guessing to the end. There is a great deal of suspense and you feel how precious time is. The author weaves all the elements into a creative storyline that keeps the reader interested. This is a great series by a talented writer and if you love paranormal adventures then this series is for you. I highly recommend this book especially if this sounds like your genre.
Another cute entry in the Witch Way paranormal mystery series. This book picks up where the last ended, with Harper, her gran, a friend, and Blake (the mysterious handsome fae lawyer) all heading to Australia to find Harper's missing parents.
Once they get to the last spot her parents were seen, it's clear there's dark magic being used. Soon, there's a ritualistic murder, with indications that Harper's missing parents may be part of a bigger plan.
While the murders are rather grizzly, and there's definitely black magic going on, this still has an essentially cozy feel.
I look forward to reading the next in the series to see what happens with Harper, her friends, and the news we received about Jackson at the end of this book.
This series just gets better and better! This time around magic, mysteries, and mayhem take Harper and Company to Australia. The stakes, and the heat, are hotter than ever and its all up to Harper to try and win the day. I loved every action packed moment and CANNOT wait for the next book!!!!!
Harper and her crew are on their way to Australia where her parents went missing! What had happened? What secrets were hidden there? As always these stories will be so much fun with characters and the plot! There will be mystery and humor! Join Harper and her crew in Australia!
I really wanted to love this book. The author is solid; the writing is solid; the plot was well-conceived. My biggest problem with cozy mysteries in general is finding a viable reason for an amateur to feel like she is the ONLY person who can solve the mystery and save the day. The book sort of nicely slid over that issue quite quickly, so it didn't have time to fester for me. With that, I am pleased. This book has everything that is considered necessary for a paranormal cozy mystery: spunky, independent young woman with a circle of supportive friends, elderly and somewhat eccentric relative, hot guys to the right and the left...it is all there. For some reason, however, I have simply not clicked with these characters, and at book three of the series, there has been plenty of time. I am not certain why this is, but as such, I cannot give this an "I love it" rating. It's a well-written book. It is a good book. I just wish I cared more about the central character.
Out of the 3 books in the series so far, I just didn't really like this one. It seemed a bit rushed. More of a beginning author's work rather than a fine established writer. The characters are very likeable & believeable as in the other 2 books. There just really was not any big mystery to the story, and the story was played out rather quickly.
Witch Way Down Under #3 – I laughed too much reading this book. I found it funny that the Americans spoke Aussie English, including their slang. Good storylines, well written and interesting, which kept me reading, and laughing. The characters are always realistic and have good dialog. Pretty good mystery with a twist; I only suspected one and it was not the obvious one. It is hard to write about this series, one of my few favorites, without it turning into a book report. I contacted the author to review her books. 4* Witch Way Series: Witch Way to Mistletoe & Murder #1 - Gran had me rolling on the floor with belly laughs; I love that clotheshorse hussy. This is not your typical cozy murder mystery; there's actually interesting storylines, funny dialog, an interesting variety of characters, almost all likable. This clean story moves at a fast pace and there's plenty of intrigue. Gran plays a large part in this story, but she's family, she makes things happen and she's a good, loving support for Harper; plus her confidence and personality are over the top. There's substance in this story, not the typical drivel cozy, and the characters act mature and can think. I contacted the author to review her books. 5*
Witch Way to Romance & Ruin #2 - Gran is absolutely my favorite character; I love her spunk. This is a better read than the first book and it was good, too! The pace was fast and the storylines meshed from the first book into this one and grew with a couple of twists and new characters. There's more growth to all the characters and even the new ones are interesting.
The dialog is filled with plenty of banter between the characters making for an entertaining read. Their humor and quickness of mind kept a perpetual smile or grin on my face. The mystery was better than the usual cozy, but Ms. Hinchey does have substance in her writing.
I did enjoy the sexual tension, which I found well written and not full of the consistent, overdone references to hotness, bodyparts, sexthoughts that so many writers force on the reader with their lack of talent and need to place sex in every sentence. Flirting at its best. This is one series my great-grandkids can happily read and still see human nature. Next stop AU; not quite a cliffhanger, but the next book is setup and it's a trip down under. I contacted the author to review her books. 5* Witch Way Series End.
Harper Jones, Gran, Jenna, and the gang are on their way to Australia to solve a missing persons case in this latest read by Jane Hinchey. What surprises will they find in Australia? This is the third installment of the fun filled Witch Way Paranormal Mystery Series.
I am a brand new reader to Ms. Hinchey’s work, so I started with the this book. The third book is a great standalone book with an exciting destination and a possible magical mystery. The author does a great job of writing enough backstory from the previous two book so the reader can get to know these wonderfully quirky characters. My favorite two characters is Gran and Harper, two highly entertaining witches with plenty of smarts to solve paranormal mysteries. I love Gran’s observations regarding Harper’s love life provided insight about how Harper is in her personal and magical life. I laughed A LOT while I read this book over the weekend.
Ms. Hinchey can balance the paranormal fantasy and a well-plotted mystery with a touch of reality with ease. She provided excellent character development, highly likable witches, and some spice in the romance department. I am a very happy reader when I read a very well devised plot with funny and quirky characters with a dash of magic makes an excellent read anytime.
The only thing that I did not like was the rushed ending of the mystery. I had to re-read it again to make sure that I caught the main gist the first time around. I can forgive this one due to the non-stop action that was going on within this mystery.
I cannot wait to read more paranormal mysteries from Ms. Hinchey. A very nice breezy read for a lazy Sunday afternoon. An excellent book that deserves all five stars. I was given an ARC for an honest opinion.
In this third book in the series, we are met by some of our favorite characters: Harper, Jenna, Gran and Blake. Harper's archeologist parents were to fly home from Australia to the US and never made it back. So the group flew to the last place their parents were known to be to find out what happened to them. When they got to the airport in Australia, they were met by an old friend of Blake, Remy who would help as she also was into archaeology and a former student of Harper's father. Could what Harper's parents were looking for in their dig why they were missing? With so many red herrings and dead ends and incredible twists in the story that you are kept in the dark trying to put any of the clues you think you have together. Were her parents killed, kidnapped or did they just get carried away with their dig and perhaps their discovery and is somewhere in the caves they were working in? The ending is a real surprise! With Harper's crush on Blake and a potential their since Jackson her love at home is engaged we get to see her conflict in her love life. But then, she finds Jackson and his fiance broke it off and he now wants to talk to Harper as soon as she returns. AND we can't forget Crazy Gran, who keeps us laughing throughout this book! Loved this latest chapter in Harper's life. Will Harper and Jackson get back together or is it too late? What about Blake? I can't wait to see what is next! I received and ARC from the author but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
Blasted through this book and the next one in one day! I'm getting ready to read #4 tonight! This is a fun and funny series. Love the characters and their interactions. Gran is a hoot. However, don't let her crazy outfits and outlook fool you - she's one smart old bird!
Note to the author: I really hate cliffhangers! Your books are good enough to make me want to read the next one. I think a cliffhanger is a cheap trick and an insult to my intelligence.
Amazon synopsis: Gran is gearing up to finally take down the reigning winner of Whitefall Cove’s annual Decadent Dessert competition, only the former victor turns up dead, and Gran is the number one suspect. Now all eyes are on us. How on earth do I keep two feuding covens from outright war, prove Gran’s innocence, and keep my new bookstore afloat?
My budding friendship with Detective Jackson Ward is my only recourse, but first I need to get past the prickly defenses of his girlfriend, Police Officer Liliana Miles, and convince Jackson to let me in on the case.
Easier said than done when Gran is flirting up a storm with every male within a ten-mile radius and basking in the spotlight. The hot new lawyer hired to clear her name is not only mysterious but a distraction I don't need, and the witches are misbehaving trying to prove who has more power and spark, which begs the question, can we catch the killer before the next spell is cast?

The lovely Harper is backand this time she has gone to Australia to find her missing parents along with Jenna, Gran, Blake and Archie. This is such a wonderfully written story. So very well wriiten and so much fun. I love the plot and am in love with the characters. I laughed til I cried in some parts. I can't wait for the next one!!! A must read so yes Highly Recommend!
I received an ARC from the wonderful author but this is my own honest voluntary review.
I so enjoyed this latest installment in the Harper Jones series! Jane Hinchey does an amazing job creating charming characters who are easy to root for and fun to read.
In this story, Harper finds herself exploring a small town in Australia in search of her parents, who have gone missing during a cave expedition. Through some pretty savvy amateur detective work, and with the help of her quirky but oh-so-effective team, Harper attempts to locate her folks and solve two murder cases in the process.
Further complicating matters, her would-be love interest, the fae Blake, is behaving in some downright bizarre ways. Is Harper responsible for this sudden personality shift? She'll have to involve her friends at Drixworths Academy of Witchcraft - who have just reinstated her witch's license - to determine the answer to this question.
This story is engaging from beginning to end, and it hits all the right notes for a paranormal mystery. At the end I felt both satisfied with the conclusion to this story arc and curious for what future developments might be in store for Harper - particularly in the area of her love life.
If you enjoy cozy mysteries with a hint of witchcraft and whimsy, make Witch Way Down Under your next read!
In this book we have Harper, Jenna, Gran, and Blake off to Australia (too much sun for Monica, being a vampire and all) to find out what happened to Harper's parents. Apparently they were ticketed on a flight back to America and never got to the airport. They are met in Adelaide by Remy, a friend of Blake's who is an investigator for the Bureau of Occult Research and Defense and a former student of Harper's father. The group finds it difficult to get a line on what happened to the couple until they find evidence that black magic is being used to shield them. When bodies start turning up with their hearts cut out, the friends realize that time is running out. Will they be able to find Harper's parents before they too are sacrificed?
Great cozy mystery. All the clues don't come together until the end. Harper is still having man trouble. Blake is acting all weird and Jackson is back home in Whitetail Cove with his girlfriend Liliana, but he keeps texting her that he needs to talk to her. Men, sheesh.
I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
Harper travels to Oz to look for her parents who have gone missing. She takes Blake, Jenna and (thank goodness) Gran. Archie also makes the long journey and finds a friend once he puts paws on Australian soil. What they find once they get there is a small town with big secrets. Harper's problems continue when she arrives and finds there are plenty of suspects who know more than they are letting on. They meet one of Blake's colleagues who helps them out with their investigations but nothing is straightforward, especially not Blake who doesn't seem to be himself. Gran is, as expected, still her fabulous self. She is just such a wonderful character with a killer dress sense and her marvellous penchant for younger men. I love her to bits. The book is fast and fun, and the characters are such a hook. I am looking forward to seeing what happens next.
I just love Harper! This can be read as a standalone, but you would be missing out if you don't start at the beginning. One thing I really enjoy is how believable the characters are. They are also laugh out loud hysterical. To solve the mystery of her parents disappearance, Harper and her crew head to Australia. Mayhem seems to just erupt around this group. Loved the addition of Remy and Bandit. I hope they show up back in the states. A great read full of action and suspense. The secretive Blake is even more intriguing in this book. I can't say this ending with a cliffhanger, but you are left with questions. I can't wait to see what comes next. This is my voluntary opinion of an advanced copy I received.
Another good read. Her parents are missing and she, her Gran, her BFF and her familiar are on a private jet with her family lawyer to Australia and the last place her parents where spotted. Along the way they pick up Remy and her dog. The caves her parents were investigating are underground and they have to wait for the tour guide to take them. Her parent's RV has been ransacked and a ring, her father bought her mother is missing. An astray projection goes awry and the lawyer starts behaving like a child. A dead man with his heart missing, black magic, a local young woman murdered and heart missing, affairs, a blood moon and a ritual. Will they find her parents? Who is the killer? Will they be able to reverse the magic on the lawyer?
Witch Way Down Under is the third book in the A Witch Way Paranormal Cozy Mystery series by Jane Hinchey.
This was the first book in the series that I’ve read. There are a lot of references to earlier stories, but the author gives enough background that this can be read as a stand-alone story.
Harper Jones, her Gran, friends Jenna and Blake, and cat Archie travel to Australia to search for Harper’s missing parents.
I found the characters to be very likable and it was a very entertaining story. It was a good mystery and I didn’t guess the ending, but when it was revealed, it made perfect sense.
I look forward to reading the next book. I’ve purchased the first book in the series to catch up while waiting for book 4.
I received this book as a gift and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
I love the part about Gran. She's really funny.. I like the part. She's got a vampire friend. But I don't like the part with her and Jackson. Supposedly, she's broken up because of her eggs, but then she's gonna be. Come in between Jackson and Lillian. Not that they're really a good couple. But I've been broken up. Because of the same thing., And I don't want any guy that's with another girl. That's a messed up situation. And I don't get the part with Blake. It's they do. Mysterious and never sorted out. She should have been more into Blake because he didn't seem to have anybody else unless you didn't tell that part. Unfortunately, I read this book after I've read the other 2. Didn't know what order they came in.
This series with Harper Jones is so much fun! This one was my favourite - helped because it was set in South Australia - where I live, but also as the characters were fun and the storyline has an interesting mystery to solve. Harper's parents are missing, last seen in the Flinders Ranges, Australia, so Harper and her gang fly out to track them down. I was kept guessing right until the end. We meet some awesome new characters - both paranormal and human and it's fun to see all the interactions. Even Archie meets a friend!
I love how these books don't end on cliff hangers, but make me desperate for more. I want to know what will happen next for Harper!
This is the kind of book I look for when I need a break from more extreme reading. This is light and fun with a bit of mystery to keep you on your toes. The characters are engaging and add a nice level of humor to the story. Now add in a shot of the paranormal and I'm all in.
Harper is more than meets the eye and it seems this witch has an interesting personal life as well. Well, we get a glimpse of it in this story. With that said, I won't be able to resist coming back to learn more and see what the next book reveals.
This was a fun, easy and entertaining read and I look forward to more story by this author
This book was another great addition to the series. The pacing was constant, just like the other Witch Way books. The characters are amusing as ever. The new characters are interesting as well. The culprit for the murder had some interesting and unusual motives. There was never one person that was obviously guilty. I questioned the whole time who could have done the crime, which was nice. There was even some interesting development in Harper's romance department. I'm definitely curious to see what happens with the next book. I'm voluntarily reviewing this book, gifted to me by the author, with no obligation.
Who are Blake, Jenna, Harper, and Remy? Where are they at and what are they doing there? What was the call from Harper to her parents about? What happened after that phone call? This book was full of adventure! The paranormal, suspenseful, mystery of a story is definitely worth the read and now I want to read more in the series! There is definitely a bit of everything for those who like paranormal and mystery in one.
RECEIVED THIS BOOK AS A GIFT FOR A FAIR/HONEST REVIEW and REVIEWER FOR Bloggin' With M. Brennan.
Harper her friends and Gram head to Australia to find her parents who went missing during their search for the copper pyramid. Harper and her Gram are witches and even reaching out with Harpers powers they can find no whiff of them. When they reach the campgrounds Harper finds that their camper has been gone through, they begin to question those people who knew her parents and visit the caves they had worked in but still no sign. When murders occur and signs of black magic appear they know they have a big problem to make it worst a blood moon is coming, join them in this fun search for her parents. I received this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review
Mum and Dad have some interesting connections. Harper remembers going with them on digs as a child. It’s clear that their present research has mystical links.
What is not immediately clear is why Brent and his law firm are so willing to look for her parents. More info waiting to be gleaned there.
Non witches again seem willing to exploit dark magic in a grab for power without fully grasping the consequences.
In a way Harper finds her way back to some of her family and magical roots. One disappearing beau, and another more single leaves her in a bit of a tizzy.
Whatever fun comes next I’m looking forward to reading!
I loved this book! It was so much fun to read, it's a great way to spend your day. Don't even try to figure out 'whodunnit', because it is a true mystery. There is suspense, romance, and of course, some special magic, all of which combine to make a great story.
Jane Hinchey knows how to make her characters interesting and fun, so join Harper and the gang on their adventure Down Under. You are guaranteed to love Gran! I can't wait for the next book in this series.
I really enjoyed how Harper and the gang traveled to Aussie to find her parents so we got to see them out of their comfort zone. There are plenty of suspects to choose from in Arrowstrand but not only that there is the mystery of is a copper pyramid somewhere in Flinders Ranges just like Harper's parents believe. We get mystery, suspense, twists and some funny moments as we go along with Harper, Gran, Jenna and the others as they try and find her parents and deal with all that comes along with that!
Despaired and afraid because her parents were missing, Harper Jones flew to Australia intended to discover their whereabouts. With the Fae lawyer, Gran and her journalist friend at her side, she knew she was not alone and had back up to pursue. But things got complicated, her feelings were not clear, a murderer was on the loose and there was an unexpected twist in the story. The witch had too much in her plate. Suspense, intrigue, amusing scenes, adventure and a mystery that had me with my eyes wide open following the action but with no idea of the outcome
I'm loving this series! Harper is lovable, as are her besties, Jenna and Monica. Gran is a hoot! The world- building is great, with plenty of intrigue, and the mystery is compelling. The guilty came as a complete surprise! Harper's family background provides astonishment, and there are a few possible allusions toward more revelations. Blake will need to earn back this reader's good will after that coward's move, and I wonder what's up with Jackson...
I got this as a gift from Jane as a member of her ARC group. I absolutely loved it! Great storyline that leaves you wanting more! The characters are great and best of all, the ending is truly a surprise! I wasn't able to figure it out so was thrilled.
Definitely a stand alone book but if you haven't read the first two books, you will want to. Well written story that will make you laugh, keep your attention, and satisfy your love of a good mystery.
All those good looking men in Australia and Gran is on the loose, she is in a bikini and heading for the waterhole, oh my!! Meanwhile the parents may be lost (or worse) in the miriad of twisty turny mazes of a mostly unexplored underground cave system. There are a growing number of suspects, unusual behaviors and a full moon on the way. Thoroughly enjoyable, full of suspenseful mysteries that you are sure to love.
