After being persuaded that I wasn't going to be able to be a cowboy if I grew up, I got interested in philosophy and psychology. Tending bars proved to me they weren't as much fun as they sounded. While trying to enroll in a class to read Science Fiction full time, I ended up taking an electronic engineering degree which splendidly qualified me to move into marketing. That in turn spawned a late onset career in creative writing.
When not writing, I fly a microlight aircraft, or get muddy on a mountain bike.
I love reading obviously. Urban Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Thrillers, History, Crime, Art, oh nearly everything.

A good series
Although some of the sex scenes made me uncomfortable at times, they were carefully written, and tastefully done. Amber is a complex person. She grows and changes throughout the series. I recently heard sexuality described in terms of they and them instead of he and she. The conflict of trying to fit into the roles society gives, when they don't fit. Amber is a blend of multiple rolls and strengths. She persists in trying to be a person who always does the right thing, the harder it is, the harder she tries. In the end, the pronoun used doesn't matter as much as the heart and soul of that person. It is a series that goes from one crises to another, and will take you on a memorable ride.

Incredible Writer
This saga is so masterfully written that m surprised it’s not a TV series. The multi-dimensional heroine, Amber Farrell, captures the imagination with heart pounding special ops military training intertwining her Athenate/Vampire, Werewolf and Adept/Witch abilities and misgivings while juggling the rules and her loyalties to her Athenate House, her Pack and the Coven against her independent decisions that bend the rules to suit her goals. Beautifully written with a well developed cast of ethnic characters including Vietnamese, Native American, Chinese, African American, Latino, Ukrainian, Canadian and on and on.
This series is a gem in the Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Genre on Kindle Unlimited. Highly recommended.
PS. It took 4 books for the cover illustration to match the description of the heroine and I appreciate the change.

Another spectacular set of books
A brilliant adventure in the paranormal world.
Great characters with realistic situations and lots of action and adventure.
A beautifully imagined alternate world of magic and darkness.

Great series
Excellent writing and story. Fast paced. Characters seem real. I have purchased more by this author and hope to go on doing that.

Amazing Paranormal Adventures
Such delightful characters, even the bad guys. I am in love with Amber, her House, her Pack, and her Coven. Yet the humanness of this incredible protagonist. Her desire to save every one seeps off the pages.

What a read
The ending sucked but left room for more with these characters great twist to vampires and witches and hybrids. The main character was intense the writing was such that you had to keep reading to see what else happened I hope there are more to come.

Good Series!
Read the the first six books and enjoyed them. Similar to others like it but different at times too. Would read again.

Excellent urban fantasy
But the worldbuilding is dark with graphic violence and a body count. Henwick puts his own intriguing spin on vampires, werewolves, and witches. There is definitely laugh-out-loud humor in these three books, as well as found family, loveable, fascinating characters, romance, danger, adventure, and damn good storytelling. Although I own a couple of the books in this set, I was glad to read them in KU and throw the author some coins.

The following books were also great but this time around it got tedious to listen to all her planning and scheming. And the plot got bigger and bigger and I felt she chewed more than she could swallow.
I lost interest in the end and am not sure if I continue.

I didn't want it to end!
Kept me interested and engaged all the way through. The characters were great. The story line was gripping and I want more.
