The Gentlemen by Forest Leo is honestly such a fun read. It's set in Victorian England, and the writing is quite clever— the language feels so authentically old-school, but in a way that’s still really easy to follow. The characters are quirky and the whole story is ridiculous in the best way possible. You can tell Leo had a lot of fun writing it.
That being said, the footnotes were kind of distracting for me. I get that they were meant to add some humor, but they pulled me out of the story a few too many times. But honestly, it’s still a light, breezy read that doesn’t take itself too seriously, which I appreciated.
The ending? So satisfying! Everything wrapped up in a way that left me grinning. Overall, if you’re looking for something entertaining and not too intense, this book is definitely worth a read. It’s well-written, clever, and just the right amount of silly.
