Although it says this book is good for newcomers I would suggest otherwise. In some places the book almost seemed to be written in a foreign language. There are also quite a few places where there is reference to sutras or stories etc. And the reader is expect to know what they are. Frustrating book to read but a few gems I will take out of it.

June 20, 2021I picked up this book because I wanted a straight-forward guide to the perfections without spending a ton of time on Wikipedia. I really enjoyed the way these practices were presented— easily accessible to American thinking without a lot of work, for better or worse.

Excellent read on the Bodhisattva Paramitas. Highly recommended to anyone interested in Mahayana in general and Soto Zen in particular!
