• The Skylark: Adina, a beautiful, self-possessed orphan, raised by her uncle in the English countryside, goes to London for the season. Her relative, a countess, introduces her to the crème of eligible bachelors. Refusing to suffer fools, Adina embarrasses her suitors with her wit and begins to consider that her destiny might not lie with well-heeled dukes or handsome rakes. Is her heart in London, or has she carelessly left it at home?
• The Christmas Bride: Lord Telford, a wealthy bachelor, has a surprise visitor and learns his young niece is in dire straits. To save her, and claim her as his ward, he must find a bride. Will he sacrifice his freedom for the safety of a small child? Will he be able to find a bride in time? Story originally published in A Regency Sampler from Regency Press.

Beth Andrews (a.k.a. Paul Bethel) was born and raised in Nassau, Bahamas. At the age of about seven, “Beth” was reading completely inappropriate tales of murder and love in True Detective and True Romance magazine. It wasn't long before he started writing stories, often with a strong note of satire. Graduating to Georgette Heyer and Jane Austen, Regency romance and mystery was a natural progression—though Paul still pens occasional contemporary stories and song lyrics just for fun, as well as non-fiction articles and essays for Jane Austen’s Regency World. Paul also enjoys music, gardening, travel (pre-pandemic, of course) and the beach. His ebooks are now published by Joffe Books in the UK and Regency Reads in Oregon.

I loved this collection of short stories by "Beth Andrews" aka Paul Bethel! The author is such a great writer, always finding alternative ways to describe what a character is doing or the way in which they say something. The stories were so captivating, I couldn't put the book down. Although set back in Jane Austen's time, it's still easy to relate to in modern times. The perceptive way the author describes the characters and the settings brings the reader right into the action. The stories are romantic, clever and even cheeky, with unexpected twists. I highly recommend "Quadrille" as a book you will enjoy.
