Rocco Wolfe is so madly in love with Stella Armstrong that not only did he propose marriage, he even had papers drawn up to adopt her precious baby Blue. As far as Rocco’s concerned, Stella and Blue are his reasons for breathing. They drove the life through his veins.
Little does he know, all it takes is one phone call to send even the happiest man’s entire world crashing to the ground. Threatening to make the only family he’s ever known vanish from his life like pixie dust between his fingers.
I'm fascinated by deeply flawed people in impossible situations, and insane people who don't know they're insane. Perfection puzzles me, so my characters are always just a little bit evil--whether they know it or not!
Book two is just a string of disappointments. I’m sick of authors building stories based on arbitrary plots and writing conflicts that speak to lazy writing, no originality and oppositional to the characters they crafted. The timing is too jarring for the reader to experience impact. The reliance on coincidences is overused. Months go by, but the day that you are blissfully deciding to get married with adoption papers in hand is the day that your presumed dead husband is declared alive and arriving home. Your wonderful husband, brother, son, and friend wants to kill his family and countrymen, physically, sexually, emotionally, and psychologically abuses the wife he was madly in love with all his life. You don’t tell your fiancé that you were raped. Your fiancé is madly in love with you then says the most hateful things to you. BUT you know that he was hurt so you blame him for leaving then you refuse to have contact with him. The explanation for DJ distance is ridiculous yet you continue to confide in her knowing her loyalty lies with her brother. Let me go to the cabin with my weird dangerous husband and former fiancé then have long dialogues and sex with my fiancé because getting caught can’t happen. Let me run for Senator so I can pretend to want to have a major landmark as a diversion because I can’t just go the high place within the first week of my return. Just too much much to do about nothing. “F” for effort.
The book was fine but I didn’t like it because I didn’t like the premise. Troy was such a wonderful person, Stella and Rocco had come so far, I didn’t see why the author had to destroy his character. He was already dead so there was no need to resurrect him. The book also was too close to Homeland first season for my liking.
OMG!!!!! This book was everything!!! Rocco and Stella were examples of love after hate. It’s such a pity that Troy became the man that he did, but War really can work a number on you. I’m happy things did work out for Stella and Rocco in the end. It was ironically a tragic but beautiful ending to this series
This book was so captivating. For Rocco and Stella to finally be in a good place and able to get past the loss of Troy and admit and commit to the love they share for each other to their lives being thrown off balance at Troy's miraculous return. Now I know this was a sticky situation but what came back to them was not Troy. They sent back a monster terrorist. Now I know prisoners of war could have PTSD but Troy was far worst. Even if he fell in love and lost his girlfriend and unborn child he never really acknowledged Blue, his first born. And lets not talk about the abuse of his wife Stella. I hate that happened to him but I'm glad they put and end to him before it was to late.💕💕
To date I don’t think I’ve experienced a bad storyline from her. Her writing just gets better and better. The only thing I found unbelievable was how Rocco reacted at the end (no spoilers). I didn’t expect him to jeopardise his work and potentially his freedom. I found that to be far fetched and how it came to a close with even Stella outwitting the FBI but that said it was still well written and had me gripped throughout. I almost skipped to the end to make sure I got my happy ever after before continuing.
Illicit picks up right where Forbidden left off...this time Stella did get her groove back....no more free spirited...light hearted...money spending ...lost girl ...falling mindlessly for Rocco...torrid hot love affair...devil may care attitude...Troy is alive and Rocco and Stella has a decision to make..this book reads live the series 24 and the Manchurian candidate with a touch of Hbo series Homeland...one again Trevion captured her audience with her brilliant imagination..
I didn’t dislike this book but I didn’t like it either. Writing and details are amazing. Personally wasn’t a fan of the plot. Not saying I hate Troy. On the contrary I understood his hatred it was explained very well. He wasn’t a bad husband but his circumstances made him so. I pitted Troy I did however hate how he treated Stella especially since he was aware of his doing’s. I would love a 3 book where it focuses on Roc and Stella’s marriage their ups and downs with juggling babies, love, and their jobs. But I understand it will not happen sadly.
I read both part one and two within two days. That was how good both of the books in this series was. I really loved Stella and Rocco. They really grew since book one. My heart ached for Troy though. QThe author touch on a subject that is common in today society. Great read.
I loved this story and Trevion knows how to draw her readers in and keep them hooked from the first page to the last. The only thing I was disappointed about was Troy's story I wish it he could have had a better ending that he would have been rescued and ended up okay not a shadow of the man his family knew.
Rocco Wolfe was the man who found everything in his life that was missing-Stella, the love of his life, Blue, his soon to be adopted daughter-only to have it all snatched away from him by his best friend Troy's return from the dead. But Troy's return wasn't what it seemed...
It was so intriguing and unlike any other story plot I have read. I was torn about the storyline in just I hated who “America’s Hero” had become. It was heart wrenching and the ending seemed rushed. Overall, it was a great read.
I’ve been waiting for the conclusion for so long and it was sooooo worth it! I love this writer and have read all her books and will continue to! Great job as always!
The author did it again...I was uncertain how this would play out, what an amazing conclusion. The book exemplifies how love and our circumstances shape and mold our actions.
OMG! Os many ups and downs. I don't want to say too much and end up giving away the plot. Just know this was some serious writing. It was riveting! Thank you Ms Burns!
This story was more than I expected. It was filled with grief, betrayal, intrigue and love. Rocco and Stella's lives were inexplicably changed. Enjoyed every page!
I really like this book Hey gave really surprises Crazy Really really nice Really liked it You cannot put this both down cause it was so good and exciting and mystery crying and everything And sad
This book was beautiful written. I cry in spots where Troy was not the same, brain washed with not hope, to know how dangerous it is in war country s trying to survive.
Wow let me just say I've been waiting for this sequel every since I finished "Forbidden". When I saw this book was up I was like a kid on Christmas day and you know what the sequel was worth the agonizing wait. So one of things that was driving me so crazy about waiting for the sequel was after the cliffhanger from book 1 what was going to happen to Stella and Rock. If you haven't read book 1 might wanna stop here about to spoil somethings....Anyway the way Trevion just pour her heart into the slow burn relationship with Stella and Rock and for them to finally be getting that happy ending only for that call. I was like noooooooo Stella has to pick Rock but with my girl Treivon I knew it wasn't an out right given. So when reading Illicit I was excited and scared because I was like it has to be Rocco not going to spoil it for the rest but am happy my fears where pretty much put to rest with the prologue. Thank you Trevion for not turning this into a love triangle because honestly after watching Rocca be the best man for Stella in book one I didn't have it in me to even root for Troy. Thanks for making that easy. I can't say enough how much I love this series and I love the way it ended with love and new beginnings. Again if you haven't read book 1 read it and hurry so you can get to this hot sequel.
