I knew better. I’ve struggled with this author in the past, but I found this on both a he doesn’t want her and rejected mate lists… AND I just couldn’t not try. I don’t know if I consider this a true rejected mates scenario… First, in this “world” they all have several potential fated mates, so it isn’t super special feeling, and second, it felt more like pushing away/avoiding than flat out rejection. Regardless, it doesn’t generate the heartbreaking feels because they’re both so stuck in their heads feeling sorry for themselves.
The first 50% is uber melodramatic. Their unhappiness/self-loathing is repeated ad nauseum with their inner thoughts. 🧔- I’m broken. 👱♀️-I’m broken. 🧔- I can’t have her cuz I’m so broken. 👱♀️- He doesn’t want me cuz I’m so broken… on and on and on. And when I thought I couldn’t take much more, it got worse, because when they FINALLY get on the same page it turns into the cheesiest cheesefest EVER. 🧔- Darling, my Ellie, my sweet, Ellie mine. 👱♀️- Darling, my Maddox, my Omega, Maddox mine. 🧔- We won’t be having sex; we’ll be making love. UGH.
And I get it, this is on me… I read the last book and have heard the entire series follows the same formula, BUT this h has been through some dark shit , so I foolishly thought it would generate angst, but it doesn’t, because nothing felt genuine.
Bottom Line- Meh- It wasn’t terrible, just flat. The plot covers heavy stuff- I just never felt anything from it. I think it’s a Jac/author thing, we don't jell. It does pick up about the last 30% with some action, but it's resolved fairly quickly. The books are on KU and the audio is on Scribd.
The brooding Omega and the fighter Ellie Their history is what makes them the perfect Omega pair One of the bravest pair in the series Both suffered in Corbins hands but both also fought together..
We also get to meet new characters Logan, Lexie, Parker and Charlotte
I know you are all SOoooo jealous that I got to read Shattered Emotions already and you didn't. But, I won't gloat (much).
We have all been waiting for Maddox's story and Shattered Emotions was well worth the wait. Carrie Ann always delivers Heart-wrenching emotional stories in the Redwood Pack series and Maddox and Ellie's story packs quite a punch. Be prepared to cry, both happy and sad tears. Be prepared for the unexpected (as usual) And just hold on for the ride!
"He was done talking, done with words and all that they meant. He needed to taste her, to feel her in his arms."
Oh Sigh!
The first time these two made love brought tears to my eyes, it was so poignant and beautiful.
Follow Maddox and Ellie on the journey that heals their Shattered Emotions, heart and soul!
For the sweet love of oh lordy up a tree did I love that!!!
Like I can wait for the next one now we know about Lexi and Parker *Dun Dun Duuun* drama!!!!!!!!
Maddox *sighs* Maddox. Sweet, sensitive, muscled, dirty talking, hot love making, orgasm giving Maddox. After wanting his book more than anyone else's we were soooo well rewarded for waiting patiently :-D ~ "I'll show you what it means to make love, Ellie Reyes." -Maddox.
I was expecting so much from Maddox and he was even better than I'd hoped and then just for good measure Carrie Ann delivered us sexy as hell pillow talker!! Thanks Babes :-D ~"I'm going to taste every inch of you, and then I'm going to love you until neither of us can breath. We'll both be so spent we'll just lie in a heap until morning, and then I'll take you again just because I can." - Maddox YES PLEASE!!!!!
Ellie found herself and her strength through the course of this book and she was brilliant! Charming, coy, nervous and brave and I loved her more than I thought I would!
As always in this series the plot twisted and took unexpected turns everytime I thought I'd found my sea legs I was thrown of course! And that's why I love the Redwood pack series so much! Very unexpected! ooo and Caym saving Corbin like that... what's going on there!?!? Is he getting all emotional!? And Lexi and Parker!! exciting! Also, totally picturing Logan as Joe Manganiello... that was sexy naked stand off with North! I'll take me some of that with a smile and a thankyou kind Sir!
I loved it I loved it I loved it and I knew I would :-D
If you have been following this series, you will be super excited to read Maddox and Ellie's book. If you liked tortured heros and heroines you don't get much more tortured than these two.
This is a pleasant series for me about wolf shifters. It is not great but it is good overall. Maddox and Ellie are compelling and my favorite so far.
You get the point of view of the villain which I never care for and certain sets of action just don't make that much sense. There is a lot of peril and outer conflict in this and the other books. The author has talent and I wish these books were more focused on the couple or the action made a bit more sense and propelled the relationships as well as the the larger plot arc forward.
Never the less, if you would like a wolfy good time with some very very bad guys, you should enjoy.
Not sure I will finish this one... It's really hard to stay connected with the characters or feel empathy for the danger they are in. One or both sides of this war they're fighting needs to take lessons in strategy. It felt like the Centrals attacked only when Ms. Ryan needed to move the plot along, not when it would have been advantageous to do so in terms of the war or the ongoing conflict or make any real sense for the attack.
I'm on chapter 17 and I've already had so many logic questions that I think I'm going to pass on trying to figure out the rest of it.
This book is absolutely heart breaking. Maddox has struggled with his feelings for Ellie and possibly mating sharing the omega powers. Maddox had sacrifice a lot for his family and his twin. Ellie has been tortured by Corbin for years and has some serious trust issues but with Maddox refusing to mate or even talk about it, Ellie struggles to deal with her feelings and how the pack see her. Great story, love new characters.
Sometimes it’s a good thing to read a series book after book. Some authors can make each story different but in this series...NOT so much. Each character so far he or she is full of self doubt and have a pity party. Also why does nearly every couple have to fight the Centrals by themselves??? NO One else goes with them and they only barely escape with their lives, this is starting to really annoy me. It also annoys me a little when Oh My Goddess we are going to die but than what do yo know they start thinking of having sex...STUPID. I can’t believe Ellie was in the Redwood pack 2 years?? I liked Maddox. I understand why he stayed away from Ellie when he thought North was her mate too. What I don’t understand is when he got his scar and what Corbin told him about North....how could he keep that BIG piece of information to himself?? AGAIN STUPID. I am going to read all of this series but other books in between.
Very emotional. If you love sex these wear wolves leave nothing out. I takes them time to get around to it but when the do WOW. Family is amazing in wolves at least in this pack. Everyone has a place of command & a duty & they do accept outsiders. Maddox is remarkable in all that he fells the emotions of ALL in the pack. So to meet a potential mate & believe she will have to suffer these feelings also tears him apart. He doesn’t realize all that Ellie has already suffered at the hands of her brother their enemy but give them time. The alpha male Edward is really a very wise smart father leader. He knows his children & sees what they refuse at times to acknowledge. Maybe that is the sign of a good leader. Well another family member awaits me so off to the den....
Maddox fought the bonding to Ellie, because he thought that she was North’s mate. Ellie knew, from the first time she saw him and saved him, that Maddox was her mate, but she felt his rejection deeply. FINALLY, Maddox figured out that was his twin felt for Ellie was protection, nothing more. Ellie is stronger than anyone thought, and through their mating bond they are a force. Will the Redwoods finally triumph over the Centrals and their evil?
Oh Maddox ❤️ I loved this installment on the redwood pack series. Maddox and Ellie have my heart. They’re so beautifully broken and need to heal through each other and there families.
If you read BDB then you’ll notice a lot of similarities with Z/Phury and Maddox/north but Z is one of my favorites in BDB so I couldn’t help but fall for Maddox
I don't know but I just didn't feel the attachment to this book maybe because I thought it can be read as a stand alone.
The book was really confusing, may be if I get in mood I'll read the first books and continue this one but can't say. The third Pov usually doesn't interest me. Peace.
He has literally put his life on the back burner so his brother could live, but it has hampered his abilities in other ways. He finally realizes that after the attack that was made to look like she committed the crime that everything he made up in his mind was not true. I wasn't how this was gonna play out. The big bombshell...another sibling...man that is flucked up.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - I LOVE THIS AUTHOR!! Maddox and Ellie’s journey is haunting, vulnerable, and deeply romantic. Watching Ellie rebuild her strength after trauma while Maddox battles his own burdens was powerful. Their bond is fragile but fierce, and the emotional payoff is huge. Loved every second.
