Several individuals with unique genetic traits had already been retrieved, but he knew there would always be more. I loved the field series and wasn't really expecting more stories so was very pleased to see this come out. I shouldn't have been surprised though really. The field series has so many interesting characters and goes in a variety of directions that it was impossible to wrap everything up in the main story arc. This picks up one of those threads and turns it into a full blown story. Very enjoyable and pleased to see what happened to those other characters. Even got a bit teary at the end of one chapter. You do need to have read the other books to get the most out of this but if you're a fan it's an excellent addition and there is enough teased for further stories

Absolutely incredible extension to the field series. We join characters we left at certain points of the previous books and follow their journeys. Mysteries unravelled, mysterious occurrences and full of excitement, despite knowing some of the partial outcomes.
We move through time and space with questions unanswered, but the undeniability of humanities ability to adapt and survive.
I cannot recommend this series enough for any scifi fans. Simon Winstanley writes with details that leave your mind reeling and your fingers eagerly turning the pages. Characters stay with you and develop over the whole series, new ones are introduced and are linked to previous core characters in a way that draws you to them.
With all of this comes the amazing scientific plot line, written in such a way you are left hoping our future will create such technology.
This is master story telling at the best. Miss this series and you'll miss out.

A brilliant addition to the Field series!
It overlaps the previous books, taking you on a whirlwind ride from the earlier years of the storyline to the events, and beyond, of the previous book, EVA. This book though, focusses on the characters who got away, the ones who maybe didn't get enough attention in the previous books, and we get to find out what happened after we last saw them and how their stories continued and wind together.
I also felt like the character introductions were better written than in EVA, where I'd sometimes get lost on who a character was and what was happening, and feel like in Bridge, Winstanley has done a much better job of framing the characters and giving you a quick refresh of what's going on with them before picking up their story and moving forward. I liked this and it helped me reconnect with the characters much more easily.
I've really enjoyed this book and recommend it to everyone who's read the rest of the series. Well done!

A must read for all those fans of the field books
Winstanley keeps getting better and better. I liked the narrative flow of this book more than the other field novels, although I can see why they are different. His characters really leap off the page and you can easily understand and empathise with them. Although one criticism is that his specials often appear outwardly inscrutable.
Winstanley really knows how to build in tension and excitement, even where sometimes you expect none. At times, sci-fi mystery, crime thriller and philosophical treatise on existence and diversity, lots to recommend here!
Go forth and read it, you won't regret it

Oh what a tangled web!
No longer are we given times so as to orient ourselves. We see same places with different people having similar experiences but in different time zones. We have people leaping time zones only to be in different places. The whole book is a jumble of information like a jigsaw puzzle with the pieces still separated. At the end we're left with unresolved issues. Although hinted, the very ending (epilogue) is unresolved. We're stuck on a causeway with no real idea of what's at the end. Maybe others like this confusing and disjointed presentation, but I don't.

Why oh why does this series have so few readers? Competent sci-fi at its best and still Simon Winstanley is able to continue the story with both integrity and surprises. I think I liked this better than EVA, but that’s like asking me to choose between my children. Trying to last out before I allow myself to deliciously succumb to starting again at the beginning, perhaps after the next one? Please share these books far and wide.

New writer!! You'd never know
The Field Series is a huge problem, how on earth am I going to find a book that lives up to this great sci-fi novel series. I might as well give up reading. Seriously, the characters, the complexity, the twists, the characters you love to hate and those you'll miss, just an absolute incredible read. Mr Winstanley has a lot to live up to with his next books, but I'm sure going to keep an eye and see if he does

Great story!
A great story about the different parallel timelines of the original story.
It's seems to me that there is an opening for a follow up 🙂. In which case I will be thoroughly enjoying that as well.

Simply brilliant series
