A Week With Enya: We live blind...

Rate this book
We know how to solve problems. Where we don't, we read, we ask, we learn and then, we solve! What happens when there are no answers though? When nobody in the world knows! When we see the need to invent Gods even if we can't discover Him. Through a string of poems, the author narrates such an experience with his non-verbal and autistic daughter, Enya.
What started as a week of babysitting for him soon became a seeking to change her into 'normal'. But, that seeking ended up transforming the seeker! The narrative in the form of poetry touches upon the revelation that comes out of desperation of not finding an answer at all and therefore, the thoughts getting tired of themselves and the mind taking a back seat. In that silence, the author says, things become clear and all aspects of life show their inter-relation! The intellect gives way to the intelligence, the body and mind as 'me' gives way to the world as 'me'! The mind map once seen, one starts to see the true nature of the 'me' and that perspective and clarity make everything clear and possible in life...

First of the presentation of the book is beautiful. I really liked the way the author has presented his thoughts feelings and situation in front of his readers with complete honesty . I appreciate the preface of the book as it helped to relate and understand the poems . The poems are very well written . The language used is very simple and not flower dipped . The author has done a wonderful job in converting day to day life incidents and happening into Verse . Overall I think it was a great book with some quality poems and loads of honesty.

Tell me how you like this cover ?
Wonderful right ? I went to roof to feed pigeons and took this book with me and the sunset sky just made the moment picture perfect.

This book is a anthology of poems by author
who jotter these down when he enjoyed one week solely with his little daughter with Austism. While he had time to spend precious moments close to his little one , he collected up his various perspectives about life in short poems. Not much rhythm or not extremely hard via allegory to understand these are light yet has nice depth conveying the depth of various arenas of life.

Read it and as different reader has different perspective due to different life experiences so many of the poems you may find relatable which tells the subtle nuances of emotions of father daughter relationship of care , changing world that feels like burdening a innocent mind of a kid with preconceived notions of religion and one's self identity , and many such topics that need discussion . Poems have little illustration on the pages. Nice short book.

I was checking out the blurb and it immediately caught my attention as I read the core concept of the book autism spectrum of disorder, also called as ASD. And being a physiotherapist, I have seen and treated closely those type of kids. The book is short read and can be finished in few hours. It’s a collection of poetries. Author has a daughter who is eight year old names Enya and she is having ASD and these poetries are based on emotions that author has shared with her. So it’s indeed a beautiful thing. It’s really heart touching when someone acknowledges the emotions through poetry. All the poetries are written beautifully, following the grammatical rules, punctuation etc. Author has used amazing vocabulary and language. Asp the poetries reflects all the care and attention that a child needs. I loved the title, “Fitting her in my society.” Because that’s a tough job as I have seen many parents and kids struggling for it. Overall good one. I recommend this to all the parents as it reflects a beautiful bond. Following are my few favourite lines from the book that will give you generalise idea about the writings.

“The physical danger, my brain can handle Only for the light, one needs the candle The intellect, no doubt, has its place Overthinking though, isn’t intelligence!”

"I am not a slave, nor a tyrant
Live my life , with no attachment...
No seeking pleasure, no pain, no sorrow,
I live now, today, not tomorrow !"
I'm a poetry lover, so I picked the book, and I must say that it was a really good choice.
This book is written for a daughter who is suffering from Autism by her father.
The readers can feel the emotions, love and pain at the same time through reading the book. The way the author narrated some stories through poetry is jus awesome.
The book consist of 24 poems and the readers can find different flavors in each poem. The way the author portraited the society, life, love, hope and all the things is just brilliant.
I loved it how the author used simple words in the poems. The language is really clear.
The title is subjective and the cover is eyecatching.

"What you seek to change, changes you
The world follows that, the mind too! "

I always love to read poetry. Because they deliver emotions in a concise yet powerful manner. You can see the craft and creativity of the author through his poems.

The concept behind this book is absolutely unique. The author was forced to babysit his autistic daughter in some unforeseen circumstances. This experience changed him gradually. He was trying to "fit" his daughter in this "normal" world. But it was he who needs change. This unique experience helps him to think and see the world through a new perspective. These poems are the reflection of his thoughts from this new vision. He questions the societal conditioning, his own faith, spirituality, and talks about freedom, truth, hunger, life, and much more through these poems.
The book is also aptly edited. Recommended.

Enya is the author's eight year old daughter who is suffering from Autism spectrum Disorder. Author has shared some very precious moments with her and the has presented his emotions in front of us in the form of these collection of beautiful poems. We all know that poems are a best way of expressing emotions and the author has beautifully expressed his sentiments in the book. The author regrets for not giving much time to his precious daughter. He has described the pain, love, fear and many more emotions in these poems.
.
.
The poems are really beautiful and I am sure the readers will be able to understand what the author has intended to express.  Language is very real and simple. The title is just perfect and the cover page is very touching. Overall I loved it.

" Greed it really is, we clearly see Even when we try to be non-greedy… There’s no difference- it’s the same thing We’re greedy for a reason – non-greedy for something! "
👉 This book is comprised of poems written by the writer based on the insights after spending a week with his daughter . It was heartwarming to read a book from the perspective of a father . Also i loved how beautifully the author has used imagery in his poems which made the writing style so lyrical . It is a short read and can be completed within an hour or so . The illustrations were beautiful aswell . Although the author has used a lot of hindi words in the book and although meaning of the words have been give at the back of the book still it was irritating to every now and then look for meanings and i am not a huge fan of the book cover aswell other than that it was a very sweet and beautiful read . Lots of love to Enya on my behalf 😄❤

A really well-done effort by a quality poet. This is one of the best poetry books I have seen in the 21st century. The author uses poetry to explore the feelings and emotions that came from spending a week alone with his Autistic daughter. The author questions the diagnosis and I can easily see why one would. The issue of autism is 10% a significant health issue and 90% diagnosis made to ensure Big Pharma keeps the cash rolling in.

There is a great spiritual aspect to this work. As you read and reflect on the prose you will be surprised where your own mind takes you. This is a thoughtful and compassionate book. This is a book that is very revealing and shows someone still attempting to grasp who they really are. Isn't that something we all face? I recommend this to anyone. A very professionally written poetry book that drips with meaning and emotion.

Disclaimer: I read this on Kindle Unlimited.

This book is a collection of heartfelt poems ,it truly depicts his powerful thoughts and emotions which he felt when he spends a week with Enya his autistic daughter.so this book depicted a fathers' emotions and his imbalance thought which he felt and sometimes he asked so many questions from God why he? But there are so many questions which are unanswered and he himself looking for them.
Book is written in such a manner that he is telling a story but rhythm and rhyming gives it a nice feel and flavor. The subject chosen for each poetry is different and poems are fully shows author's warmth and intensity.

This is story of an autistic child named Enya. Enya suffers from a rare Autism spectrum disorder known as ASD. There is no one type of autism, but many. Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication. It's a neurological and developmental disorder that begins early in childhood and lasts throughout a person's life. It affects how a person acts and interacts with others, communicates, and learns. It includes what used to be known as Asperger syndrome and pervasive developmental disorders. She's still unable to talk till this date & just manages to squeak our few sounds in the form of syllables.

The narrator is the father of the child who's dedicating this form to her in the form of poetic assimilation. He has been preoccupied in his busy schedule so badly that he ignored his child for almost eight years. He had been absent to her needs. Though he was physically present for her, but never mentally. For the first time in a long time, the simple realization dawned upon him that he has been very selfish & thus he took it upon himself as a resolution to resolve things effectively. He wishes to correct her situation via any possible means available.

The struggle & strenuous efforts filled with dejection & void occupied his life for a while. His overwhelming thoughts on pain led him into a bottom of depression, pushing him further to a catastrophic negativity, the desperation to do anything led to thoughtlessness was overcomed eventually. He had many fears which eventually turned out to be his personal practice of philosophy. The annoyance, irritation, irrational behaviour, anger & greed turned into purpose, ambition, love for his family. All this burden gave rise to clarity which is apparently appreciated.

The book comprises of a wide collection of poems assorted together in the form of painful belongings. I liked the emotions. Many sanskrit & hindi words have been introduced across various sections of the book & it has been embedded successfully. Punctuations are good. Even the figures of speech is employed here. Though I felt it could've been refined even further. Sequential synchronisation is missing. The main drawback being it lacks the impact which may leave readers wanting for more. Language is simple. Narration is okay. Writing style is normal. A good one-time read.

Book - A week with Enya
Author - Amar B. Singh
Format - Kindle Edition

'A Week With Enya' is a collection of 24 poems by Amar B. Singh.

The book brings out the relationship of a father and his 8 year old daughter, Enya. Enya is non verbal and is on autism spectrum of disorders.

The poet has reflected his feelings of fear, ambition, greed, love, purpose of life, after spending a week with his daughter.

The poet has successfully presented the emotions of a father and an explorer of life through these poems.

The poet has used simple words in the best poetic way to bring out the feelings of a father- daughter relationship, his love for his daughter, his regrets for not spending time with her, his unanswered questions, etc.

A poem is not merely a rhyming composition of words. For me the meaning of poem is often deeper than its literary word meaning. The poet have proved it way more than that. I have repeatedly read a few of it.

Each and every poem is a treasure of true emotions and exploration of life, its truth.

Some of my favourite lines are:
Fear Clip My Wings-
"one need to survive or,
one needs to live"

Conflict-
"Love my family, and yet, pursue wealth
Gradually losing both, and my health!"

In the poem 'Clueless Years', the poet regrets for focusing on his career and not on Enya-
" I looked at her pics and,
She sat by my side... "

The cover and the title depicts the theme of the book and is perfectly apt.

The formatting and presentation are well done and offers a pleasurable read.

I would like to quote few lines for the poets writing skill:
“Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.”
— Allen Ginsberg, from Ginsberg, A Biography.

I recommend this book to all poetry lovers.

This book is a collection of 24 poems, written by a father during his week of babysitting his daughter ENYA. she is a special kid, with autism, his father tries to bond with her and pen down the emotions through his poem.

The poems potray every detail of the emotions author and enya feels. The poems are written in a very simplistic manner, yet they deliver an effective message. There were poems which made me cry but, there was subtle beauty the poems that make you read them again and again.

Author has also adressed how parents cope when they their beautiful child is diagnosed with autism, how their world changes in a moment, yet how one smile on their child's face and it is all worth it.

This book was a reality check for me too on so many levels, because very often we do accept anything which a variation from the perceived 'Normal', we make it a mission either to bully that person or to make him/her change themselves.

I learnt to see the world and people with a different perspective and to more empathetic and ready to accept them as they are.
Totally recommend this book

Book Name- A Week With Enya: We Live Blind
Author- Amar B. Singh
Review- A Week With Enya is a beautiful collection of poems written by a father on all the joy and happiness he discovers when he spends time with his daughter. His daughter is autistic and he gets a chance to baby sit her for a week. With complete attention on her he spends his entire time baby sitting her and it is then when he learns new meaning of life. Parenting is an art and it is more than what we think it needs. But in this competitive world where we try to create an image, an impact of ours we forget who we actually are. The author was aware of his daughter's condition and every passing year he believed to see change, to see improvements and see normalcy taking rise but with the time he spent the realized there was nothing wrong with his child. We always think that people with ASD ( autism spectrum of disorders) have something missing, something wrong, they are little less than what they should be but in reality they are not disabled but differently abled. Yes they are a lacking something and that’s the desire to run the rate race unreasonably. Through their eyes everything is just an art in itself and they see pure life with their perspective. The poems are definition of life, what joy actually is and once can re-experience life with these lines as they are full of emotions and joy. The poems are based on joy, love, self discovery and ever other beautiful experience which is experienced first hand when we see life without judging things and that’s the best part about the book.

We always heard that daughters are the precious diamond of her Dad. And also a piece of the heart of her dad.
__
I have started this book today, in the morning and just finished now by evening. The book contains 24 adorable, worth reading poems in it. In this book, you can find out the depth of emotions of the father towards his daughter. His daughter is suffering from Autism Spectrum Disorder(ASD). One fine day, he meets her daughter and was going to spend a week with her. That’s how the title of the book is quoted.
__
Plot
__
I found poems very unique in the book. And also, I believe that poems can be a great way to express the feelings of love to someone. Here, in the book father is trying to mold her daughter in a normal world manner. He was trying his best and pouring his love for her.
__
What I loved the most
__
✅ The vision and mission of the father towards his daughter were mindblowing.
✅ The words were choosey and somewhere rhythmic.
✅ There is no patter in the poems and that’s the thing I love and enjoyed reading.
✅ The importance of time with the loved once and have care, and affection is showed wonderfully.
__
Writing Style
__
Poems are not rhythmic but can be understood easily. To match the vision of the author through this poem requires focus and a curious mind. Language is simple and lovely that any layman can read and take joy from this book.
__
Recommendations
__
I would like to recommend this book to those people how wants to take inspiration to write a poem to express their love. Also, readers who love to read poems and quick read. A week with Enya is a sweet poetry book written by Author/ Poet Amar B. Singh. The book is a collection of 25 emotional and expressive poems. The book starts with a preface where the author has explained his emotions towards his daughter, who has ASD an Austism Spectrum Disorder. So this book contains the poems about the time he spent with his daughter and thereafter. The author and his wife had discovered many emotions during the Christmas holidays spent home with their daughter. All the poems are perfect and will make you read it twice in admiration.

My Take:

Poems has always been my weakness and I think poems can express a feeling that normal words cannot describe. Author Amar B. Singh has done a mind-blowing job in writing this poetry book. The book is simply great to read and perfect. I liked the titles of each poem; it promises us for a sweet treat. The cover of the book is beautiful and the pages inside has flowered design watermarks, which makes the book even more attractive.

My personal favorite poems are:

1. Clueless
2. Identity
3. The Deep lake
4. Opposite
5. The nature of being

To be honest, all the poems are great and will make you read twice in admiration.

Overall, loved this little poetry book and if you are a poetry lover, just like me then read the book now and feel the emotions in A Week with Enya by Amar B. Singh.

A WEEK WITH ENYA
WE LIVE BLIND
BY AMAR B SINGH

“The day and the night
The darkness and the light
The weak, the mighty
The devil, the almighty!”

At first I thought, this book is going to be a novel about father and daughter relation and love. But as they say never ever judge the book by its cover. Stick by that thought please. My whole world turned upside down when I came to know it’s a poetry book( couldn’t contain my happiness within myself). What a book amazing amazing and amazing.

As a poetry lover I have read so many poetry books and trust me no one came up with such unqiue concept. This book is about a father who baby sits his daughter for a week, who is autistic and non verbal. With the concept of changing his daughter he ends up changing his thinking. I really like the narration at a very personal level.

I really love how easily the author has portrayed the emotion in each poem. The language is extremely simple and catchy. Some of my favourite poems include
FITTING HER INTO SOCIETY
FATE LEADS TO DESTINY
And my most favourite one THE OPPOSITE.

P. S. A must read book for all!

"if there's no tomorrow, I ask my mind
is there something I should run behind?"

A week with Enya by Amar B.Singh
I a short book, a collection of short poetry like representation and reflecting of different subjects.
The write-ups are meaningful and I enjoyed reading them,
But I will say that the presentation could have been better.
The cover is okayish and also, the illustrations are the same for every poem.
Well, this might not be a thing to specify but that matters.
I like this book if there was something I can say special about the book.
It is the composition of the poems and the observation of factual details that made this.
There is always a lot to think about when it is poetry.
We can either see what the author thought when reading or we are seeing the reflection.
If I leave the illustration and the presentation the meaning itself is so profound of the writings that there is a lot to think about them.
Well, you need to have that perspective for this.
Though it is easy to read, the complete sense of the poetry will be only revealed to those who'll let it get absorbed.

It is rightly said that those who go through things are the only ones who can explain them the best. Such an effort has been done by Amar B. Singh in his heart touching poetry collection, “A Week With Enya”. The collection is a powerful portrayal of the emotions felt by a father towards his daughter and he has given words to his emotions with clarity and vividness. In the preface. he shares how the poems came into existence and what led to his writing them.
Each poem in itself is a masterpiece. He has is share of playing with the imagination of the readers through the titles he gives. Some titles like “Fitting her in my society”, “What you seek to change, changes you” and “Joy in the work or, in me” are powerful in themselves to grab the attention of the reader and hold on to it.
The vocabulary used by the poet is fine for the readers to understand. All his poems have the fatherly emotion running in the background and that kind of remains in th air throughout the collection. Poetry is about giving words to human emotions and writing them in a few words. “A Week with Enya” is a fine example of that.

The book is written by a father whose daughter has ASD. He got a chance to babysit her one day and he had written the book based on that day and the insights he had post that day. He writes all about his little girl who is non verbal. The poems are very touchy and they portray the father’s love. There are 24 poems in the book and each are names beautifully. The cover of the book is beautiful and the title is sweet. The entire preface that the poet has put is very warm and it explains why he wrote the book in the first place. The poems have 7-8 stanzas and are of the rhyming type. There is a particular illustration present with each poem. The author has mentioned the meanings of the Sanskrit and Hindi words that he has used int he poems which helps the reader understand the book easily. The poems left a certain calmness inside of me. Also, each poem has come out of some observation that the poet has done as a father and a person. The poems like I mentioned previously are touchy and are beautifully penned down. I loved the book.

A week with Enya is a collection of 24 poems. The poems here are about the authors week with his non verbal and autistic daughter. Through these poems he narrates his experiences and the insights thereafter and also displays emotions of a father and an explorer of life.
The poems range across subjects of fear, ambition, greed, love, pain, purpose of life.

Mentioning some of my favs-
Clueless Years
The pursuit of intelligence
Fitting her in my society
The Lion in the cage

In the poem 'Clueless Years' the author writes about how he was so much focused on his work and now feels sorry for not having spend time with her daughter.

In another poem 'The pursuit of intelligence' the author tries to communicate with his non verbal daughter.

The poems are beautifully written. So much of pain and emotions oozing out of the words. The language is easy but if only you are good with understanding the sentences and words used in poetry. If you are a beginner you might not like it.

Recommended for poetry lovers.

Oh well.. well..this is a great book.
I've been in a school where special kids used to come. I was a volunteer and used to play.. talk with them.
It was always a new experience. I always learned new things. The kids are really special. I'm still in touch with them I always like talking to them.
The reason I've narrated this story is because the book kinda of helped me relive my moments. Its true the book is about a father child relationship but the way the poems are written.. it connects with the readers instantly. The emotions are captured in a very captivating way.

The lines I liked most from the poem are
Every time my loving kid is around, Unless his actions fit the ideal, I rub it to the ground… His love isn’t educated, doesn’t know the ideal Our love is conditional, conditioned is our deal!

This is one book I'd like to be part of school curriculum. Its a always a good idea to teach kids about compassion, love emotions etc.

For me it's a 5 🌟 read.

Name of the book- A Week With Enya by Amar B. Singh.
Stars given - 5 on 5 stars and a big hug to Enya.
My take on the book-
Once I saw the cover of the book I thought for sure that I was in for a fun filled poetry book. I mean look at it, it looks like freedom and in the end I did get some but of a very different kind.
This collection of poems is about the poet spending time with his daughter and trust me on this you wanna give this one a read.
Enya is special, not only for her special needs but also for she taught her father something very important which in turn he taught us though the poems. There are many different emotions that are discussed in the book but finally we are made to realize that one should always 'go with the flow' for there is no use swimming hard against this flow of time.
Thank you so much for making my day.

The book is written by a father whose daughter is suffering from Autism Spectrum Disorder that's ASD. He has written these beautiful poems when he got chance for babysitting for a week.

This book is heart touching, emotional one. Enya is a small girl, but she taught many things to her father and so he described through his simple but elegant poems.

The poems are mix and match of his observations during the week that he has spent with his daughter. The author poured his heart out in his short poetry book.

His emotions can be seen through the beautiful lines of poem. The author has shared true bonding with his daughter which he mentioned through his poems.

Collection of 24 such beautiful poems, that's touches the heart. It made me felt that I'm reading a short story about a father and daughter who's having ASD.
Book cover is beautiful and eye catchy.

Writing style is simple and lucid.

Book's title is appropriate.

Character of father and daughter has been portrayed well in the poems.

"A Week With Enya" is an anthology of poems written by Amar B. Singh. In these poems the poet has wonderfully detailed the thoughts that comes to a human, or we can accurately say a mind. The mind thinks about the responsibilities it needs to complete according to the society but on the other hand it also want to live carelessly like a 5 year old.

The mind knows that the technology has made the person dead inside. The person moves, eats and does his/ her work only due to the push of responsibilities. Not all of them are living their lives to the fullest. Many are not getting the real meaning of life and are just living restlessly till their last breath.

I loved this collection of poems as they openly deal with the conversations of the mind, he body and the person. I would recommend this anthology to all.

A week with Enya- eye catching title and beautiful cover. This is a poetry book. Actually, it's an emotion of a father towards her daughter. The beautiful bond of a father-daughter has woven in the poems. Every poem is showing the plethora of emotions flowing in author's mind, here as a father. His love, his anger, his realization, his actual happiness and sadness in life. The pain every poem carries with it, we can feel that.

It's a book about the little girl Enya who is suffering from autistic spectrum disorder. She is just 8 years old. she is a non verbal child. In Christmas vacation, the father is living with his child for a week. And in this time span how father's perspective changes, how thoughts are changing and how the emotions are flowing is beautifully described here with 24 poems. Every poem is heart touching.

Its real heart touching poem contains fathers love .a father contracts with her daughter; she is suffering from autism.
The father babysitting his daughter, he understood a lot of things and realised important aspects of life.
All the emotions of a parent are come out as words in this poem.
Society and his work alcoholic nature made him like this and he thinking about society's concepts.
This justified every aspect of parenting of a mentally challenged girl. We are missing a lot of things in life because of the run , just pause for a moment to observe the life around us.
Some lines gripped my soul and I was crying like hell in some lines.
Language is too simple and easy to understand.
The bond between father and daughter duo is clearly visible in this poem.
Fathers concern, thoughts clearly visible in this poem.

The book is a collection of vivid poems. The author has an 8 year old daughter who is affected by autism spectrum disorders (ASD). So while having babysit her for a week he realises various truths coupled with emotions and conscious awareness. Those thoughts were put into words to form poems.

What I liked?
Ranging across subjects of love, life, fear eyes the poems are thought provoking.
The poems have been beautifully penned in such a way that the reader experiences the emotions a father and an explorer of life goes through.
The quick view of meanings for the Sanskrit and Hindi words is appreciable.

My Favourite poems from the book
1. Why, Existence!
2. Careful ! Before you Name!
3. How many Deaths can one die!

My Verdict
Written on a simple language the book is a nice one time read
