Expecting to die while trapped in a Mexican drug tunnel can make a man rethink his life choices.
Bo and Lucky have a home, steady, if dangerous, work, and each other. Maybe even the beginnings of the reconciliation with the Lucklighter clan they promised themselves. The Schollenburgers, though—Bo hasn’t yet opened up that can of worms, near-death experiences or no.
Yet another Thanksgiving approaches with no plans to celebrate with family. Lucky’s willing to wait as long as Bo needs to get up his gumption.
He’s not nearly so patient with the bikers stalking him.
You will know Eden Winters by her distinctive white plumage and exuberant cry of “Hey, y’all!” in a Southern US drawl so thick it renders even the simplest of words unrecognizable. Watch out, she hugs!
Driven by insatiable curiosity, she possibly holds the world’s record for curriculum changes to the point that she’s never quite earned a degree but is a force to be reckoned with at Trivial Pursuit.
She’s trudged down hallways with police detectives, learned to disarm knife-wielding bad guys, and witnessed the correct way to blow doors off buildings. Her e-mail contains various snippets of forensic wisdom, such as “What would a dead body left in a Mexican drug tunnel look like after six months?” In the process of her adventures, she has written over thirty gay romance novels, lost count of novellas and short stories, has won Rainbow Awards, was a Lambda Awards Finalist, and lives in terror of authorities showing up at her door to question her Internet searches.
When not putting characters in dangerous situations she’s cosplaying for children's charities or hanging out at the farm being a mother, grandmother, and vegetarian.
Her natural habitats are hardware stores and on the backs of motorcycles.
I loved meeting Bo's family!! Poor Lucky now has to deal with more people who want to hug him. LOL!
Dear Author, Thank you for including both 7.1 and 7.2 short stories in the book 7 audiobook. Your consideration for audiobook addicts like myself is much appreciated!
Having a full novella dedicated to BO's family was great. We know him less because he is not a POV character so this was great (I really don't mind the series being one POV, I think it adds to the story). Aunt Becky is great and I hope we see more of them in the future :)
This was just all kinds of adorable, steamy, funny and charming! The ending was so sweet and made me want to hug the both of them. This is a real treat for everyone who loves Lucky and Bo! Awesome!
Relation - AKA Lucky Meets the Schollenburgers :) A fun short where Lucky gets to spend Thanksgiving with the big, boisterous Schollenburger clan (including the biker aunt and uncle who brought him up) most of whom, for reasons he can't fathom seem to want to hug him! I loved watching him slowly coming to like the various members of the clan :)
A sweet short and a nice window into Bo's family, whom we haven't met so far. This is included with the audio of book 7 (Suspicion) and once again, Darcy Stark's narration is superb.
It’s nearing Thanksgiving and our happy couple get a surprise visit from Bo’s aunt and uncle. A very colourful couple and not quite what Lucky expected. In a typical Lucky fashion, he suspiciously greeted them more or less at gunpoint. Not long after that Bo’s brother turns up, unknowing how close he was to get his head blown off… To say that Lucky is a bit suspicious and on the edge when it comes to unknown visitors is putting it mildly.
Anyway, Bo and Lucky are invited to the Schollenberger clan for Thanksgiving dinner. The relatives seem never ending and are very curious about Lucky. I loved seeing Lucky a bit out of sorts at the dinner surrounded by Bo’s family. Many of the hugging sort – something that nearly gave Lucky hives ;) I loved how he so reluctantly started to like one family member after the other.
As you might have guessed from the title, this novella was all about family. Reconnecting and discovering new ones. It will leave you with a smile and warmth in your heart, and wishing for a family dinner of your own. – Especially in these times when that’s not always possible.
A copy of this book was generously provided by the author in exchange for an honest review
ahhhhhhhh très sympa cette nouvelle qui nous permet de faire connaissance avec la famille de Bo. Et la fin de cette nouvelle est tout simplement craquante !
One short yet crazy story with Lucky and Bo. If you haven’t read this series yet, you are missing some great reads. Lucky finally gets to meet Bo’s relations and they are nothing I would have ever envisioned for Bo. Lucky’ POV and comebacks are priceless. Love these guys.
Thanksgiving with Bo's family. We finally get to meet Bo's biker aunt & uncle and a glimpse into Bo's life with them. This was a nice little addition to the series without threats to their lives and just love 💘
It's Thanksgiving time, and Lucky's being stalked by bikers. But not the drug running bikers he's accustomed to. These bikers are from Arkansas - Bo's home turf. Of course, typical Lucky - he's going to protect Bo; and keep his worries to himself - until they show up on his doorstep. Bo's family got tired of waiting for him to visit and starting wondering if the new man in his life was a problem; so Aunt Becky and Bo's main positive male influence; her partner Jackson (or Fox and Ink because bikers apparently have to have cool nicknames) decided to pay a visit and come see for themselves. Lucky even managed not to pull a gun on them so, progress!
This was a fun family reunion story. After meeting the Lucklighters in an earlier installment I was wondering when Bo’s family was going to make an appearance. It’s nice to see their connections and family growing. The boys have both been through a lot; but they’re healing and building a life together. A nice interlude in the series.
We met Lucky's family, and now we finally meet Bo's. This was a great short story that gives us an insight into how Bo was brought up, but also how Bo and Lucky are building their home together. Loved it.
I will always love me some Lucky and Bo time ... and Winters gives a nice holiday 'diversion' in this latest installment. To balance out previous series titles offerings of Lucky's family members/background, we readers get treated to Bo's 'side of the fence' this time round.
How wonderful to get a Lucky and Bo short in between the major stories. This was unexpected and hilarious, with Bo's family turning up and being far from what Lucky expected.
It was wonderful to learn that bit more about Bo, which made Lucky love him all the more and to meet Bo's fabulous Aunt Becky and the clan. It just enriched these heartfelt characters all the more.
“I think the family is the place where the most ridiculous and least respectable things in the world go on.” ~ Ugo Betti
Although they’ve been together for a long time, Lucky, of ‘Relation’ by Eden Winters, doesn’t know much about Bo’s family. Even though Lucky’s past gives him plenty of reasons to be paranoid, he is making a concerted effort to not be, but when two suspicious bikers start showing up everywhere he goes, he gets nervous.
When the individuals in question turn up at their door, Lucky makes sure his gun is within reach. However, their suspicious visitors are not enemies; they are Bo’s aunt, Becky aka Fox, and her boyfriend, Ink. Lucky’s mind nearly explodes with questions. How could his kind, polite, generous, vegetarian boyfriend have been raised by these rough and tough bikers? More than that, why has Bo never told him?
Bo’s aunt sacrificed her own dreams for Bo and his brother when she took them out of an abusive relationship. Even so, when he joined the Marines, at eighteen, he left it all behind him. Bo has tried to put his past behind him and make something of himself but no matter how hard he tries, or what anyone else says, he doesn’t believe he has succeeded. Going back home would have only reminded him that he still feels like a failure. Seeing his aunt again stirs feelings Bo thought he had buried; it makes him realize that it was a futile effort. When Bo’s aunt throws her arms around him, Bo’s defenses crumble.
After his aunt’s visit, Bo keeps in touch with them almost every day. Lucky can see how much happier Bo is, not only because he is reconnected with his family, but that he is able to share all of his past secrets. They become closer than ever. There’s not much Lucky will not do to make Bo happy, but when Bo’s family asks them to come to their house for Thanksgiving, Lucky wants to rethink that notion.
This is a hilarious and touching story in Bo’s and Lucky’s continuing saga. I enjoyed every minute of it. The revelations concerning Bo were both painful and poignant, but explained a lot about his nature. Thanks, Eden, for another great story about Bo and Lucky, who remain one of my favorite couples.
While part of one of my all time favorite series, one of my all time favorite MC pairings...this one wasn't as good as the rest of the series. I know it was just a short holiday story and I'm glad I read because the end of this one touched on a subject that has be part of Bo and Lucky's story for the last few books. It was a cute story though, don't get me wrong. I guess I just wanted a bit more of the usual Bo and Lucky...you know mayhem and shenanigans. :)
I hope we get more of this couple and this series.
