For the cases no one else can solve, they send in the Special Threat Assessment Team
Supernatural creatures are no longer keeping their existence secret from humans, causing panic around the globe. To investigate, monitor, and ― when necessary ― take down dangerous supernatural offenders, an international task force was established: The Special Threat Assessment Team.
STAT agent Jestina Ridley is in London with her team investigating a suspicious kidnapping. Over her radio, Jes hears her teammates being savagely attacked. She runs to help, but she's too late. The only survivor, Jes calls for backup and gets former Navy SEAL and alpha werewolf Jake Huang and his new pack. Convinced that the creature who butchered her teammates was a werewolf, Jes doesn't trust them. But if they're going to uncover the facts and make it back home alive, she'll need Jake's help. And with everything on the line, Jes will have to accept Jake for who he is, or lose the partner she never expected to find ...
Paige Tyler is a New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author of sexy, romantic suspense and paranormal romance. She and her very own military hero (also known as her husband) live on the beautiful Florida coast with their adorable fur baby (also known as their dog). Paige graduated with a degree in education, but decided to pursue her passion and write books about hunky alpha males and the kick-butt heroines who fall in love with them.
WOLF UNDER FIRE by Paige Tyler is the first book in the STAT: Special Threat Assessment Team series. The book mainly takes place in England with a few scenes elsewhere. In this story, supernatural creatures are known to a few, but not all humans. As with humans, some supernatural beings are criminals and the United States has put together a team of supernatural beings and humans to deal with these criminals domestically as well as internationally. STAT agents Jestina Ridley and former Navy SEAL, alpha werewolf Jake Huang, and new leader of the STAT team are the main characters in this action packed supernatural suspense, police procedural, urban fantasy and romantic suspense story.
The characters felt three-dimensional, with distinct flaws and virtues. Their goals were clear and proactive with believable motivations and appropriate emotions. The world-building was excellent and I felt like I was there with the STAT team. This book was action-packed with high stakes and several plot twists. Romance took a back seat to the action and investigation, but there is one steamy scene about 60 percent of the way through the book. The prose was well-written, descriptive, fluid and captivating. The plot was suspenseful, sinister, intriguing, engrossing, twisty and fast-paced.
Overall, this was irresistible, enjoyable, entertaining, engaging, and a fabulous read. If you enjoy action-packed urban fantasies with great protagonists, sinister antagonists, and some romance, then this a series to be considered. I am looking forward to reading more books in this series as well as more books in the author’s other series.

I love Paige Tyler's books, my favourite being S.W.A.T. and I loveX-Ops... it looks like STAT is going to be right up there with the others!!
While each series has a similar feel but with a different team, I love that. Wolf Under Fire had the romance, the mystery and the nail biting OMG feel to it that other books have and I was gripped. I think Paige has the best ever werewolves and I love the individual characters that each book portrays.
Jake and Jes are our main characters in book 1 but there is something about the omega wolf Caleb that I definitely want to know more about, he is definitely a wild one and one to watch out for!
Personally, like I said, I love Paige Tyler's books, I love that fast paced action and the romance and I am always eager for the next books to come out!
Paranormal shifter romantic suspense. 1st book in the Spin-off of the SWAT series (Special Wolf Assessment Team). Wolf shifters law enforcement goes international. Can be read as a stand-alone.
STAT Agent (Special Threat Assessment Team) Jake Huang joins his new team and pack in London to investigate supernatural killings. STAT agent Jes Ridley doesn’t know what killed her teammates, but it wasn’t human and neither is Jake. Trust will have to be earned within her new team mixed of humans and werewolves.
A fast moving, easy read with non-stop adventure. Full of action, espionage and hot sex, this new team is dynamic and smart. I enjoyed the action, the beginning friendships and learning the special characteristics of the team. Finding The One makes these romances uplifting and hopeful.
Excerpt: “There probably wasn’t a werewolf out there in the world who didn’t know the legend of The One—the thought that Jes might be his had never entered his mind. Seriously, how could she be? Soul mates were supposed to be a one-in-a-million thing. Maybe even one in a billion. “You’ve heard wolves mate for life, right?” Caleb asked Forrest. When the guy nodded, he continued, “Well, in some ways, werewolves do the same thing. There’s supposed to be one perfect person out there for each of us who we’re meant to be with forever. When a werewolf meets his or her soul mate, it’s supposed to be like catching lightning in a bottle.” “Soul mates. Wow,” Forrest breathed. “I mean, Misty and I are solid, but I made a lot of dumb mistakes when we first started dating. Would have been nice to know we’re soul mates the moment we met.” “You’d think so,” Caleb agreed with a snort. “But for some reason, Jake is too busy swimming around in that river in Egypt to notice what’s right in front of him.” Excerpt from Wolf Under Fire by Paige Tyler
I received a copy of this from NetGalley. I also purchased a copy to share.
This is the first paranormal romance I've read. I have to say it was an odd dichotomy of urban fantasy, military adventure, and romance. I liked the world this was set in and the world building quite a bit. What I couldn't get past was these two horndogs in the same new military unit who couldn't keep their focus on the mission and out of their pants. They'd be preparing to go on a dangerous mission against a group of supernatural creatures and start thinking, "I sure would like to lick all that water off him." Or "We could die on this mission to save the world in the morning. I need to tell this woman I've known for two days how much I love her." It was just beyond ridiculous. Then there would be a big action scene with a military unit of werewolves fighting other supernatural creatures through the streets of London. Just a strange juxtaposition.
Received a review copy from Sourcebooks and NetGalley. All thoughts are my own and in no way influenced by the aforementioned.
This one had a hard time keeping my attention, odd because I like the series it was spun off on. It might be me, maybe not, we'll see for sure when I get to the next book. I did like the idea of a team that was in on the supernatural and that tackles going after the bad ones in the world. I even liked the team members and the dynamic they were building. So not sure why this one was hard for me to read.
Having followed Paige Tyler’s SWAT series from the very beginning, going into Tyler’s spinoff with the STAT series feels like a natural leap forward as the new team Alpha Jake Huang jumps into the unknown with his put-together team and a woman who just might be ’The One’ for him. With a wider range of supernatural creatures and a larger emphasis on paranormal activities driving occurrences around the world, this should have been an entertaining ride. That much was seen towards the end of Tyler’s SWAT series anyhow, as more and more creatures of the night started stalking the pages, which had gotten me excited.
But I definitely took days to finish this without having that sense of urgency of wanting to finish it. In the end, I wasn’t clear what to make of ‘Wolf Under Fire’.
Part-travelogue (there was a heck of a lot of place naming as though we needed repetitive reminders that much of story took place in the UK) and part-fast-paced-thriller-type-movie, “Wolf Under Fire” was noisy and messy: there was a whole introduction to a new team, a host of other supernatural characters with their own agendas that stayed unknown until the end.
I wasn’t able to take a stab at a clearer trajectory of where the story was heading as the team started out with a case of children-kidnapping, a few more odd dead ends and then to a seemingly unrelated case of a rocket launch for ‘climate-change’ purposes. It only became better towards the last quarter of the book when the storytelling finally settled into a framework I could understand, coupled with a momentum that I was more accustomed to when it comes to Tyler’s more straightforward SWAT-style writing.
‘Wolf Under Fire’ by the end of it, felt like a story that juggled too much, too soon, especially on the character-building front. On their own, Jake/Jes were credible team members, but I stayed rather disconnected to their instalove and their rather forced chemistry, only that Tyler’s established use of trope of the werewolf’s soulmate lent them both sufficient credibility to pine for each other inexplicably even after only knowing each other for a week.
I ended this feeling a little more disappointed than usual but hey, there’s always the hope that the series could get better as it rumbles along.
Jes was on a mission with her teammates when some kind of paranormal creature took out two of her team. She calls for backup and that when Jake and his werewolf teammates come in to help track down the paranormal that killed two of their own.
Jake is a werewolf and once he sees a picture of Jes, he's smitten with her before he joins her team. But once they meet he's a little disappointed in how she reacts to him and his team being werewolves. She doesn't know them, does't trust them or him and pretty much expects him to act like a monster and not the cookie eating, gentleman that he actually is.
It isn't until they find themselves in dangerous situations and have to rely on one another that the ice starts to break and they start to trust each other. Jake has felt possessive and wanted to keep her safe even before they became friends but he didn't really understand why. Once they reveal just how much they care about each other, it's hard for them to keep their hands to themselves, even while they still find themselves going on missions to find the kidnapped children.
Tracking down the paranormal that killed Jes's teammates and are also kidnapping children brings them face to face with a hard to kill opponent. But once we find out who the bad guys are and what they are really doing it was quite the shock and I really enjoyed the ending. I enjoyed getting to know all of these characters and am looking forward to reading more of this series.
Disclosure: I was given an e-ARC of this book via Edelweiss but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
WOLF UNDER FIRE kicks off Paige Tyler’s new STAT (Special Threat Assessment Team) series. It’s very similar to her SWAT series, which is a paranormal romance that features shifters. I really enjoyed that series, so I was glad to see her continue on with that concept in this new series.
I’m not really sure what to say about this book because it is so similar with the other series. There’s plenty of action and amazing thrills in this book, so if you enjoy fast-paced suspense then I think that you will really enjoy it.
Jes’s character was a little slow to warm up to me in the beginning, but then once I got into the meat of the story, I started to enjoy her. The same went with Jake Huang. First off, I thought that it was incredibly cool to see Tyler feature an Asian hero. So many books, especially romantic suspense, feature predominately white males, so I thought it was incredibly unique and thoughtful of Tyler to represent someone else.
In the end, I really liked the book and I look forward to reading more of this new series.
Characters felt like first year college students, not highly trained intelligence operatives. It's brain candy, but it's a 14 year old jawbreaker that you question how badly you want it or if you'd be better off without.
Ah, the old "I hate you for no good reason but you're really hot" trope. 🙄
I am not enjoying the main characters. This woman is prejudiced against werewolves (but I know she'll be sleeping with him in a few) and kinda dumb. Doesn't seem like an intelligent operative.
The dude lied to his adult kids "to protect them". 🙄
Action, adventure and love! Wolf Under Fire (STAT: Special Threat Assessment Team #1) by Paige Tyler is a spin-off of her successful SWAT series which is phenomenal. In this new series the STAT team is a hybrid mix of folks that are aware of the supernatural and when necessary take down dangerous supernatural offenders. This is a terrific team and I look forward to future adventures with them all.
I usually love shifter romances but something about this just meant I struggled to connect with the story, it was ok but just didn’t grip me. They’re meant to be federal agents but are so obsessed with each other you could have taken them out easily they were so unfocused. Jes I just didn’t really like and there wasn’t much chemistry between her and Jake , not for me unfortunately
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion
Thank you to Netgalley and Sourcebooks Casa for my complimentary e-arc of this book. I really enjoyed Wolf Under Fire by Paige Tyler. The is a supernatural thriller that kept me engaged the whole time. Think Mission Impossible with a supernatural twist. This book releases May 26, 2020.
The novel centers around Jess, a human agent who is part of the Special Threat Assessment Team (STAT). The team's mission is to intervene in situations where supernaturals are behaving badly (most humans are unaware of the presence of supernatural beings). I loved Jes. She is a great, strong, female lead. She may not be supernatural but she manages to keep up with everyone else and is a force to be reckoned with. The hero of the story is Jake, a relatively new werewolf who is adjusting to his new role as werewolf alpha and leader of his STAT team. Jake was a perfect blend of alpha male combined with thoughtful protectiveness. I also really enjoyed the supporting characters in this story ranging from werewolves, to someone with the power to communicate with electronics, to other human characters. They made for an interesting and diverse range of characters.
The storyline centers around the STAT team's mission to find a kidnapped girl. The story had a great flow to it. We move from place to place with the team as the plot develops. I really enjoyed the fast pace with lots of action. It is a book I did not want to put down!
If there was a weakness to the book I think it is that I wanted to know more about this supernatural world. Tyler describes the basics of the world but I wanted more. After I was finished with the book I found out this was a spin off series. The book is definitely enjoyable and completely readable without having read the first series but I'm about to go on a binge of Tyler's previous series, SWAT.
This was my first read by Paige Tyler and I liked it but I didn't really love it. Don't get me wrong, this is a good book, well worth the time it takes you to read it, I just didn't fall in love with the characters or the plot as I hoped I would. When I read the blurb for this book I was immediately drawn to it and was slightly let down by the end result. It started good but as story progressed I kept losing interest. It did pick back up towards the end though. What lowered the rating from me also, was Jes, the heroine. I didn't like her. I couldn't warm up to her at all. She just rubbed me the wrong way I guess. I liked Jake, the hero, on the other hand. I also felt like their romance was forced. I didn't feel the chemistry or the attraction between them. Overall this wasn't a bad book, far from it, and I'd recommend it to my frinds despite the things that bothered me about it. I'm also looking forward to reading more from Ms. Tyler.
***I received the ARC for free from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
I love books with paranormal romance, but I just couldn’t get into this book. The mythos of these particular werewolves was unconventional and spotty. I mean, sure, I get that having a secret werewolf gene that is activated by some traumatic situation is a cool premise. But be consistent with the amount of trauma needed. Also, the assignations of Alpha, Omega, and Beta seemed lazy.
Then the main characters kept annoying me with how easily they got distracted with thoughts of each other when they were supposed to be these badass Federal Agents. They seemed to zone out thinking about each other then pop back into reality when they realized, “hmmm, maybe I should be paying attention to my mission so I don’t get my teammates killed.”
The writing style was just too juvenile for my liking. The premise was great, but the execution was sorely lacking. I prefer my werewolves a la Patricia Briggs or Laurell K. Hamilton.
Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for releasing this ARC to me in exchange for an honest review.
Wolf Under Fire is the first book in Paige Tyler's new STAT series and a spin-off of her SWAT series. My first impression? Awesome! I love Jake and Jestina and the rest of the team. I'm usually pretty good at predicting plotlines but the author hit me with a shock near the end that I never saw coming. A winner for lovers of action-packed paranormal romances!
Jeslina is a STAT agent in London handling an investigation that looks like it may involve supernaturals. She ends up,with help from a new team of STAT members of all different types and strengths. Jake the new leader the STAT team called in to help, he’s just trying to get his new pack to all work together. This story was well written and really fun to read. I hope we have more in this series in the near future.
I have been a fan of Paige Tyler for about 3 years now. I have read all of the X-Ops series and am working through the SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team series. I hoped at the chance to start reading the new STAT: Special Threat Assessment Team series.
Jestina Ridley has horrible luck. She looses her teammates to an unknown supernatural creature only to be put on a new team, lead by Jake Huang, full of werewolves and supernaturals. Now she must learn to put that fear aside to save a little child who was kidnapped.
Most of the story is centered around Jes and Jakes story, through the book you also learn more about the other people who make up this STAT team. A team that has zero time to train or even really get to know each other before being sent half way across the world to work together.
Paige takes you on an adventure from being coop -up in a small house in London to a car chance down the narrow streets and more. She gives you the picture of what the cozy little house looks like. You can almost feel as if you are sitting right alongside the team during mission discussions.
I really enjoy how Paige pulls the reader into feeling the confusion of seeing a supernatural for the first time, or even how Jes is scared of how strong her feelings are for Jake after such a short time because he is a werewolf and how she believes they are dangerous. But then you go to the next chapter and you can feel exactly how Jake feels for being judged because he is different and on things he didn't do.
I received a free copy from Sourcebooks Casablanca through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
Wolf Under Fire is the first book in Paige Tyler’s new Special Threat Assessment Team/STAT series. It’s a spin-off of her Special Wolf Alpha Team/SWAT series which I love a lot. The STAT team is an international task force created to address supernatural threats. The best thing is that the team itself is composed of supernatural beings that had never met until now.
Jestina “Jes” Ridley and her original team of humans are assaulted in London while investigating some kidnappings. This forces her to call in help from alpha werewolf Jake Huang who is a former Navy SEAL and the newest member of the team. The team also includes two other werewolves and a supernatural who has the ability to mentally connect with technology. Jes isn’t exactly thrilled to work with werewolves and unfortunately, it shows. Oddly enough, her attraction to Jake makes it difficult to hold onto her disdain for werewolves. Plus, this is what she signed up for. Jake has his own issues as he struggles to adjust to his new role on the team and being away from his newly “adopted” twin daughters who are also werewolves.
Wolf Under Fire was very exciting from beginning to end. There were a lot of moving parts regarding the investigation which introduced a new supernatural that you will have to read to believe. Paige Tyler never disappoints as she continues to play off traditional supernatural creatures to create her own versions. The STAT team had a lot of depth and I wanted to get to know all of them. They came together as a team when it counted and really became a family. Jake and Jes had good chemistry plus there is another couple that’s also introduced. I can’t give away a lot about the book itself because I think it would ruin the excitement. Once you start to read, it all comes together like a good action/adventure movie ala Mission Impossible. I can’t wait to read the next book. I can only imagine what new supernatural creature gets introduced next.
**Received a copy of the book from the publisher and voluntarily reviewed.**
Jes has has two run ins with werewolves that have ended in death. She is assigned to a new task force to deal with a MI5 agent that includes werewolves. Jake is an alpha ex Navy Seal. He is everything Jes is afraid of or is he? This is an offshoot of the SWAT series and can be read as a stand alone. It is full of action, intrigue and romance. There are so many interesting characters that Mrs. Tyler can add a host of follow-ups, please especially for Caleb and Harley.
Jake is a tad bit slow on things, even when his woman lays it all out, "...I get it. And I’m okay with it. So stop talking and take me to bed. We have to leave for the mission soon, and I don’t want to waste the rest of the time talking.” Jake stared at her like what she said had completely blown him away." I liked this book, I liked Jake.
I picked this up for one reason only: the hero's name is "Jake Huang". But after only a few page, I had to DNF because it was glaringly obvious that while Jake is a former Navy SEAL and an alpha werewolf, Jake is barely Asian. The quote above is literally the only mention of Jake's ethnicity. Is he a Korean-American werewolf? Chinese-American werewolf? Adopted werewolf? Who the heck knows, because the author couldn't be bothered to go beyond describing him with jet-black hair and dark eyes. By the way, Jake is also guardian to a pair of blond werewolf twins. Okay...
Adding insult to injury was the cover. I showed it to friends and asked them to guess the cover hero's background. Guesses ranged from Hispanic to Mediterranean to biracial, but no one answered, "Oh, that is clearly an Asian American werewolf, duh."
Review originally published at Vampire Book Club and based on a copy provided by the publisher.
Former Navy SEAL turned alpha werewolf Jake Huang was just hired to lead a team for STAT, the Special Threat Assessment Team, a covert government agency assigned to supernatural cases around the world. He meets his new pack, his team that includes other werewolves as well as human agents, and immediately gets sent on his first assignment.
Agent Jestina Riley is the lone survivor of a supernatural attack on her STAT team. She suspects a werewolf was responsible, so she’s not thrilled when Jake is sent in to help her complete her mission. Jake, on the other hand, is immediately attracted to Jes and starts to think she’s The One, his fated mate. He’ll have to teach her the truth about werewolves before he can win her over, all while trying to find a supernatural kidnapper.
The STAT series is a spinoff of Paige Tyler’s SWAT series. Both Jake and Caleb, another member of the STAT team, are introduced in that series. But I’m a few books behind in SWAT and didn’t feel like I missed anything jumping in to Wolf Under Fire.
One thing that made this book feel different from SWAT is that not all of the team members are werewolves. Tyler gets to introduce some interesting new supernatural types to her world, like Misty the technopath. We finally find out that vampires exist in this world, though we don’t meet any yet. It also allows Tyler to show just how different her werewolves are. For example, it takes Misty three minutes to run the same distance that Jake covers in thirty seconds.
Tyler’s books always feel like action movies to me. The latest is no exception. Wolf Under Fire is action-packed, full of car chases and shoot outs and explosions. It’s like a supernatural Mission: Impossible. I thoroughly enjoyed it! I’m also excited about expanding the SWAT world, seeing new locations and new kinds of supes. I look forward to seeing where the series takes us next.
Disclaimer: I am not the target audience for this novel. Romance isn't one of my favorite genres, but I was curious. BookPage recommended it recently as a good read.
High points: Comparing this novel with the Mercy Thompson series has given me a much stronger handle on the difference between paranormal romance (this) and urban fantasy (Mercy Thompson). The main difference: here the plot felt like a backdrop to introduce the romantic couple and have them interact with a common goal, but the focus was on their relationship, whereas in Mercy Thompson, the plot is the focus with some strong relationships as part of what's going on. The action parts in this felt like filler. The premise of a supernatural special ops team is pretty interesting and the worldbuilding was intriguing.
The rest: The dialogue was pretty awkward in spots, especially when the characters were discussing their feelings and backstory. It felt like an odd mix of being way more honest than people usually are and the awkwardness of high schoolers. The characters' voices didn't convince me as those of experienced special forces individuals, to the extent that I tried to look up if Tyler is younger than I am. It broke my suspension of disbelief that they'd used the term "assholes" to mean "bad guys" or "suspects" that much, and at one point a woman in her thirties used the phrase "squicked out" in her POV. It didn't ring true. They also thought a lot about what they were ignoring in order to focus on what was happening in a way that mostly drew attention to what they said their attention wasn't on. All in all, the writing itself felt like it could have used a closer pass of editing and revision to hone and strengthen the voices and the dialogue.
Here we meet the newly formed Special Threat Assessment Team (STAT), bravely headed by Jake Huang. Jake has recently moved to DC to start a new life and a new job with the twin beta werewolves that he has taken responsibility for. The STAT team is a mixture of werewolves and humans, and nobody really knows each other. Jes is one of the humans of the new STAT team. She is distrustful of the three werewolves that are now part of the team. They all have to get over their individual reservations real quick, when they are sent on a mission to London to investigate the disappearance of a teenage girl.
We are introduced to a new species of non-human, who are also the bad guys, but for most of the book we have no idea who they are or what their motivations are. The team learns through trial and error what works and what doesn’t when it comes to taking down the bad guys. This was interesting and things do fall into place very neatly.
I liked Jake and Jes, and their romance was okay. I liked them together, but there wasn’t enough spark. Since all the characters in the team are new, there was a lot of time spent introducing them. Each of them is unique and makes a valuable contribution. Caleb especially was an interesting character.
The action scenes played out well, and the team definitely learned how to work together.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC to review. Any thoughts and opinions are my own.
Paige Tyler starts this spin-off series with action and emotion. I love her stories because there is lots of action, the women are just as brave and tough as the men and her paranormal elements keep the story unpredictable. I am never bored reading one of her stories. She keeps me on the edge of my seat and the romance is always hot. I like how her paranormal creatures are coming out of the woodwork. We meet some in this story I've never encountered before.
Jestina Ridley is in London with her team to investigate deaths that are definitely of supernatural origin. She's been tracking these kind of cases for a while. When all of her team is killed by werewolves her boss McKay forms a new team she's not to comfortable with. It's composed of 3 werewolves and 2 humans. Jake Huang is the team leader, a former Navy Seal and cop who turned werewolf 4 years ago. The other two werewolves are Harley Grant, a female alpha and Caleb Lynch, a laid back omega. She doesn't know the differences between werewolves and having them on a team is unsettling. Human Forrest Albright looks like straight issue FBI and Mistal Swanson appears fully human but she is a technopath. She can infiltrate any tech and become one with the data. Their first op is to investigate Lord Arran Darby a former deep cover MI6 agent who is a rich jet setter who appears to have gone rogue. Jes quickly realizes not all werewolves are the same and that her team is a good fit. It was quite an adventure seeing these new team members use their gifts and learn to trust each other.
I voluntarily read and reviewed and advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is like Mission Impossible with shifters. Heavy on the action, light on everything else. Some implausible things happen, but they are still fun and the author did a good job of keeping the action exciting. Jestina, a human and a STAT agent, had her team torn apart by something vicious. Jake, a wolf shifter and a new member of STAT, has been tasked with leading the newly put together team that will help Jestina find out what in the heck is going on. There’s some missing kids they are trying to find, but that’s just a small part in something much bigger and more dangerous going on. I liked Jake; he’s a nice guy. Jestina starts off hard to like because she’s so rude, but she does get better. The connection between Jake and Jestina did have some passion and their personalities fit well together; there’s some super sweet moments too. The wolf shifter stuff was great; loved how fierce they are. I liked the idea of having a sort of misfits group coming together to form a new team; I especially liked Misty’s power, she can do some super cool psychic stuff with electronics.
Lots of entertaining action with plenty of interesting elements to keep you reading. Excited to read the next book in this series! I hope it’s the omega wolf finding his mate; he really needs that type of connection to help keep his wolf in check, should be an awesome read!
Just like the SWAT series I think I am really going to love this new STAT series. I love me some werewolves! Ms. Tyler knows how to do paranormal romance right. And this new series spin-off starts off with a bang for sure! And I love that it seems like it is going to be an international thing, which is cool and intriguing. This story mainly takes place in England and is full of action but still has plenty of character development, relationship building and intimacy. Jake Huang who we have met before is a former Navy SEAL and is the alpha of his new pack. He travels with his new team to join forces with Jestina Ridley who is human and recently lost her team members to what she thinks is a werewolf. So as you can imagine she starts off with some serious trust issues and hesitancy. Jake is strong, sexy and hard to resist and a force to be reckoned with; the rest of his team are equally fascinating-Caleb, Harley, Misty and Forrest all with their own interesting skill-sets/abilities. I really liked the relationship between Jake and Jes, but I also really enjoyed the story as a whole because it has just the right amount of all the ingredients that make up a great paranormal romance! Look forward to more!
Wolf Under Fire by Paige Tyler features an Asian wolf alpha. Tall, broad-shoulder, and a tough badass. He fights for the innocent. In this case, he ends up working with a woman that is just human. She fears him at first. Jes thinks it was a werewolf that killed her partners. But something is off about the scent of the attacker. Jake and his paranormal shifters help Jes find who was behind the murder of her team. But first, she will have to trust him and the others. Plus, there's the strong instant attraction they both feel towards each other. Jes tries to shake it off, only it gets stronger. It's the same for Jake. Jake wants Jes to accept and like him for the way he is. He feels bummed that she's afraid and doesn't trust him. I love this story. The characters were mesmerizing. The plot was fast-paced and action-packed. This paranormal romance is a must read for all romantic suspense fans.
