I can not connect with the story, the characters and the plot. The heroine is stupid really. She forfeits her entire life just to move with her then boyfriend. I actually lost interest at the beginning. But I still managed to move forward until half. Then I give up.
DELIVERED WITH A KISS is book four in Marie Harte’s Veteran Movers series. I’ve more or less enjoyed the books in this series, so I was looking forward to reading this one. I had no idea that this book was coming out, so it was a bit of a surprise release. However, I did enjoy Smith and Erin’s story.
I definitely think that you can read this book as a standalone but it does feature past characters who are always welcome in my book. I love the sense of community and family that Harte always brings to her books as well as the dose of humor and sexiness.
As of late, I do feel like the author hasn’t been writing as steamy scenes as some of her previous books, but I still enjoy the alpha heroes and military touches that this book has. It makes the heroes feel a little more larger than life but still also relatable. And Smith was a character that I think a lot of women will really enjoy.
I do believe that this is the last book in the series. It’s sad to see it end, but I do think that Harte did a good job with this Contemporary Romance series. They are my favorite of hers and I hope that she will write more sexy Contemporaries in the future!
This was an interesting one. Smith really is messed up, he just hid most of it really well. It was only with Erin that he allowed some things to come out. Erin was the perfect person to do this with, she listened and gave great advice and I loved how at the beginnign of things with them Smith wasn't sure if he was coming or going. By the end of the book Smith seemed to work through most thing and those he hadn't he had a plan, made easier with Erin by his side.

REVIEW: 4.25 stars--DELIVERED WITH A KISS is the fourth and final instalment in Marie Harte’s contemporary, adult VETERAN MOVERS erotic, romance series focusing on the men and women who work for Vets on the Go!-a moving company designed to employ former servicemen. This is Marine Smith Ramsey, and editor/you tube vlogger Erin Briggs’ story line. DELIVERED WITH A KISS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for backstory and history between Smith, and the brothers he never knew.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Erin and Smith) DELIVERED WITH A KISS follows in the wake of Erin Briggs move fro Kansas to Seattle, a surprise move to surprise her boyfriend, a man who had moved on with someone else. With no place to go, or help to get her there Erin comes face to face with Vets on the Go mover Smith Ramsey, the man with whom Erin will fall in love. When Smith offers up a solution to her current dilemma, Erin finds herself working part time for an elderly woman whose acerbic and saucy personality hides a heart of gold. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Smith and Erin, and the potential fall-out as Smith’s issues of trust and extreme lack of self-esteem are at odds with his attraction and growing love for Erin Briggs.
Smith Ramsey is the product of an adulterous affair, and only recently discovered that the woman he thought was his other, was his aunt, and that the man he never knew, fathered other children including our story line hero. Working for Vets on the Go! would place Smith in the direct line of fire with his siblings, siblings he struggled to accept or love. Erin Briggs moved to Seattle in an effort to move on with her life, a life that no longer included her long-distance boyfriend. Meeting Smith Ramsay gave Erin a hope for the future but Smith struggled to accept anyone into his life, including the woman with whom he would fall in love.
The relationship between Smith and Erin is one of immediate attraction but a distinct lack of communication, and issues of self-esteem forced our couple to overthink their friendship, as well as their growing attraction that is constantly sabotaged by Smith’s inability to let go of the past. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word in my romance story lines, and in this case, the word was used as shock value as the heroine, as well, did not like the use of the word.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including all of the previous story line couples including Smith’s brothers, Cash Griffith and Jordan Fleming (Smooth Moves #2), Reid Griffith and Naomi (The Whole Package #1); and their cousin Evan and Kenzie, and Evan’s mother (Aunt) Jane Griffith; Vets on the Go employees, Hector and Lafayette. We are introduced to Smith and Erin’s landlady Tilly Fine, her nephew Rupert, and friends Willie, firefighter Brad Battle; Erin’s ex-boyfriend Cody and his girlfriend; Smith’s ‘mother’ Margaret Ramsey.
DELIVERED WITH A KISS is a story of family and betrayal; acceptance and moving forward. Marie Harte reveals the man behind the mask of pain that for so long protected Smith from the life he had lived. The premise is emotional and entertaining; the characters are dynamic, broken, fun and forgiving; the romance is seductive and captivating. DELIVERED WITH A KISS answered the reader’s questions about the who, how and why of Smith Ramsay, and revealed the triggers that send a 6’5” Marine into a spiral of low self-esteem and a loss of control.
While I always hate to see a favorite series end, I couldn't wait for Smith's book! His meet-not-so-cute with Erin had me rooting for them from the beginning! I was glad to see more of the continuing mystery revealed, and also see Smith realize he had a real family. Erin is such a great heroine, finding her own way while helping everyone around her. I just really, really loved this book and series!
Fourth and final book in the Veteran Mover series by Marie Harte. Make sure to read the first 3 before this one as there's an continuing story line through all 4 books. Very sweet romance with darker themes of family and war. I've truly enjoyed this series and am glad it ended on such a high note.
First, this author has GOT to come up with another way to have the condom conversation. I’ve now read at least three “come in me, I’m clean, I trust you.” Identical conversations in the last three books. Let them grab a condom for once! Have an IUD! WAIT for test results? Anything please. Second, pretty sure daddy dearest’s estate could be challenged with the proof of that letter and photo. Third, when did that photo get taken?!? Fourth, I really liked Smith and Erin. Erin really came into her own and started figuring out what life was. And Smith started doing the work on his emotions, etc.
Delivered with a Kiss has a heroine who uproots her life for a man she thought she loved and a hero so down trodden I couldn't help but infuriated on his behalf. Erin moves all the way from Kansas to Washington based on an ultimatum issued from her boyfriend Cody. When she arrives, her entire life shatters on Cody's front lawn, and in front of Smith, the moving company employee. She doesn't expect any kindness or assistance from the burly, scowling Marine standing beside her but then he surprises her.
Smith Ramsey has had a helluva past few weeks and seeing a pretty woman on the verge of collapse tops it right off. While his upbringing wasn't anything to brag about, leaving her alone, defenseless, and with nowhere to live was not in his repertoire. Smith quickly jumps into action and secures Erin with housing in his apartment building and a part-time job assisting the landlady. Pretty soon the duo are dancing around each other while sparks fly and attraction begins to consume them.
There is a large amount of emotion the author poured into this book. Smith's childhood was awful and after returning from his time in the Marine Corp, his life, which he thought couldn't get any worse, actually does get worse. Much, much worse. He learns his mother isn't biologically his and he has brothers. A struggle to stay afloat, Smith hides his feelings from everyone until it just about breaks him. This book tests the bonds between family members and between a man and woman. There is a reason communication is the key to any relationship and there is a serious lack of it throughout a good portion of the book.
Please note Delivered with a Kiss is the first book I've had the chance to read in Marie Harte's Veteran Movers series. I typically read series books in order but wandered off the path for this one. I will be going back to the beginning and reading the rest of the series. That said, having never met the supporting characters from the first three books, I thought maybe I'd have a hard time figuring things out. That is not the case, as the author does a great job bringing the reader up-to-speed without taking away from the present events, couple, and situations. The supporting characters are unique in their own right and I enjoyed getting to know them along with Erin and Smith. I also love the way the author firmly lets the characters know that family isn't just those with the same blood pumping through their veins. Family is anyone you want it to include.
Perfect story for Smith to finish the series! We finally get to see under Smith's gruff and growly demeanor to who he is and why. Erin Briggs is perfect for him. And landlady Tilly just about stole the book! No one writes characters and interactions between them as great as Marie! I am a huge fan. I can't tell you how delighted and satisfied I am with this story...it's absolute perfection.
The Ramsey-Griffith brothers have had a turbulent history because of their parent's love triangle and infidelity that spawned bitterness and rejection. We finally have the whole story of these three brothers childhood and their parents. Because of the love triangle hurt tuned to bitterness and rejection which led to Cash & Smith's feelings of rejection. They turned into men that protected their hearts with a thick skin of growl and grumpiness with their huge formidable bodies. Smith's self talk is that he's unlovable, and trash as his mother threw him away. Smith we come to find out has a heart of kindness and love that he makes sure no one sees.
Erin Briggs has uprooted herself from Kansas to move in with her boyfriend Cody when she accepts his ultimatum for their continued relationship. Smith is the Vets On The Go moving man who is handling her stuff. Erin finds Cody has another girlfriend never expecting Erin to come and she dumps him on the spot. Smith is there offering comfort when she breaks down and offers her an apartment in his complex he knows just vacated. To get lower rent as she doesn't have a huge income from her editing job for a few internet agricultural magazines she agrees to be cook and housekeeper for their landlady Tilly. Tilly is very much like Erin's grandma back home, cantankerous and a real ball buster. Erin finds it comforting and not at all hard to deal with. And so we begin the evolution of Erin seeing into the Smith he hides and Smith slowly beginning to heal with acceptance and recognizing he's loveable and valued by others and family.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Okay, so while this book is the one that first caught my eye, I saw that it was part of a series and decided to go back and read the first book first. That probably was for the best because all the books were definitely connected and need to be read in order. And also because I actually kind of liked the first book and if I had read these last 2 books first, I wouldn't have wanted to read anymore.
I didn't like Smith in the previous books and I didn't care for him too much in this book. When he was with Erin, he wasn't bad. He really connected with her and cared about her. But he had too much of a chip on his shoulder about his past and his brothers. He hated them because he had a terrible life (as did they) but he suffered alone while they had each other. So he hated them because they had each other. For his whole life he hated them. He tracked them down and continued to hate him. it was too much.
Erin wasn't much better. She was a mess. She moved to Seattle to be with her boyfriend even though she was perfectly happy at home in Kansas. But he gave her an ultimatum and she caved. Only to get there and find out he didn't mean it and that he had another girlfriend. She stays in Seattle because she can't afford to move back home and is too proud to let her parents say "I told you so." I get that. She wanted to handle her own problems and grow up. Which in the end, she did do.
it was just too much with Smith and his insecurities. He was a big baby about everything. And fortunately he ends up in therapy. I will say that I thought that by the end of everything, Reid, Cash, Evan, and Smith would all own the company and split it 4 ways. But I guess they still need to get to know Smith more before they take that step. But whatever. They're a screwed up family and I'm glad to be done with them all.
Smith.... he is an enigma. He's gruff and an a*$hole on the outisde but when no one is looking he is the guy having tea with a little girl. Smith was raised by his aunt who was horrible to him because he was born out of an affair with the man his mother was in love with. His brothers Cash and Reid were raised separately and he was taught to not trust them and they were better. He wanted to get to know them and all they wanted was to accept him as their brother.
Erin is dumped in front of Smith by her boyfriend and he gets her a place to live. Erin is able to see everything Smith keeps hidden beneath the surface and makes his favorite cookies. She is his greatest gift and has no idea.
Watching Reid, Cash, and Evan fall in love has been heartbreaking at times but Smith you just wish you could give him a hug and tell him its going to be ok. Cash does his best being there for Smith, helping him through the same troubles he's had, Smith still doesn't trust Cash doesn't want something from him. But in the end when his brothers tackle him and yell to family your heart swells because you know a man who was raised believing he wasn't as good as anyone else is truly home with the family he always wanted.
I'm so happy Smith got his HEA he deserves to be happy. This was a story I was waiting for since he was introduced and Marie did not disappoint. She gave us everything we could want and more in the end. I have a few favorite books by various authors and this one is at the top spot by Marie.
Received ARC in exchange for voluntary honest review.
Though you do not have to read the other books in this series to enjoy this one, I would strongly recommend it. The previous stories contain the continuing family drama and conflict that wraps up nicely in this book.
Out of all the books in this series, I think I enjoyed Smith’s the most. All the guys have serious childhood issues and emotional baggage to sort through and end up with great women who love and support them and help them deal with it all as well as strong (dysfunctional, lol) brotherly bonds but Smith seems to have really gotten the worst deal out of the bunch. His story wraps up the series perfectly and all questions are finally answered when the last of the secrets from their past are revealed. I really enjoyed how it all worked out in the end with all the guys and loved seeing Smith find love and get his happy ending. This story is full of emotions, drama and conflict (both internal struggles and with others), letting go of the past and new beginnings, self-esteem and self-reflection, possibilities and hope, and finding family, strengthening bonds, and love. Overall, a great series that pulls you in with interesting, complex characters and an engaging storyline.
*I received an arc from the author and I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
A great ending to this lovely series. A slow fall into love. The whole premise of veteran service people working like this was one of the best ideas I have enjoyed reading about. I really recommend reading the three previous books to get a feel for the dynamics between these men. Loved Smith and how he finally owned his past, both emotionally and in his dealing with Meg and was able to move into his future with his true family by his side. The abuse he suffered as a child was disgusting. The fact he was so polite to Meg at the end just proved what a good guy he is. Cannot say I loved Erin, I really liked her but didn’t think she was quite as honest and upfront as Smith in regards to her feelings. She purposely used the situation with the ex-boyfriend Cody, to misunderstand every time Smith tried to be serious about their relationship. The way Ms Harte wrapped this up with the letter, photo and the no parent alive situation worked well for me. Allen just came across as too weak of character to be the biological father of Cash and Smith. Loved that the sweet tea party scene was mentioned. This is my honest review of this book.
This series....every story has been SOOO GOOD and Delivered With a Kiss continues the separate but intertwined stories of the men (and woman) working for Vets on the Go!
Sam Ramsey has many demons of his own but has a big enough heart to help out client Erin Briggs when she is literally dumped by her boyfriend while trying to move into his home. Newly arrived from Kansas, Erin is quite lost in what to do next. Seattle isn’t cheap and Smith steps right up, finding a unit in the apartment complex he lives in, introducing her to the owner and landlord, Tilly (a spitfire of an older woman), who then agrees to rent a small unit to Erin at a reduced rate, in return for cooking meals and other tasks. Erin is grateful to both Smith and Tilly.
While both Smith and Tilly project a gruff exterior (Smith more than Tilly), Erin finds herself falling for both...Tilly as a grandmother figure and Smith as a kind, big hearted man despite his outward demeanor.
Hot sexy times mixed with a touching story of overcoming past hurts - this story is a winner!
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book, however, this is my honest opinion.
DELIVERED WITH A KISS by Marie Harte is book 4 of the Veteran Movers series. Erin Briggs leaves Kansas for the wrong man and ends up in Seattle with no boyfriend and no home. She’s all alone except for Smith Ramsey, part of the Veteran Movers company who witnesses her humiliating breakup with her boyfriend.
When Smith watches Erin get dumped, he gets her an apartment in his complex. He tries to steer clear of her because she’s not the kind of woman he dates, but he can’t stay away from her or her mouthwatering cookies.
Erin wants to be independent and start a new life, but she can’t help but fall for the tough ex-Marine who’s really a gentle giant on the inside.
I listened to DELIVERED WITH A KISS on audio and just love Erin and Smith, but all the secondary characters, too. I looked for every excuse to plug in my headphones and listen to this story, including cleaning house (and I hate housework!) I loved this book and couldn’t stop listening. Recommended Read
I have enjoyed the previous books in this series, and this one did not disappoint. This series is based on brothers whose past is truly heartbreaking . But somehow, these strong men raise above it all. Smith Ramsey is the brother Cash and Reid didn’t know existed. A man whose devastating childhood has affected him so much in his adulthood that he feels he is not a worthy man. When he meets his new client, Erin, little does he know that his life will change forever. It’s a story about family or lack thereof. It’s also a story about opening ones heart, giving a relationship a chance, having hope and finding love. This last book ties up all the loose ends from previous stories and we finally have the brothers finding their bond and HEA. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
A good ending to this series. Smith was by far the most interesting of the brothers. His vulnerability and insecurities just made him so much more likeable.
Unlike Cash who seemed like an asshole, Smith was someone you wanted to find his happy ending.
I really enjoyed this one. Smith has been intriguing to me since he beginning of the series. We've gotten snippets of his life before he came to Vets on the Go and it was so sad. It made sense how surly he was. I've been wanting his story and more importantly to know the woman who could put up with his grumpy ass.
I loved the Erin didn't let Smith intimidate her. She was so much stronger than she gave herself credit for. I loved their chemistry and the way they cared for those around them.
I was sad for Smith but so hopeful. I was glad that he got a family in the end. I just wish there had been more of epilogue. Is this the end of the series? I'll be sad if it is but it did end on high note.
I wanted to throat punch a few people in this book. Meg was at the top of my list along with a few others. She did a number on Smith because she was being petty, butt hurt and vindictive. For how Smith grew up you would’ve thought he would grow to be emotionally and mentally a mess. But he wasn’t he grew to be a caring man who thought of others and respected people. At first I wasn’t sure if I would like Erin. She seemed too sweet. But she really started to come out of her shell with Smith and Tilly. She was really handed a crap deal when arriving in Seattle. But she overcame that and started to grab what she wanted. This book had some soap opera drama going on which had me confused for a minute but worked itself out in the end.
Delivered with a Kiss is the fourth and final book in the Veteran Movers Series by Marie Harte and Smith's story was a wonderful way to end this series. There had been some questions left unanswered in the previous 3 books so I was happy to see everything tied up and questions answered with this one. I have loved each and every one of these stories, but Smith's was a heartbreaker for me. I loved how he and Erin helped each other and grew throughout the whole book. I love when a female lead learns to stand on her own two feet and allows herself to voice her own opinions and desires and Erin did that with Smith's help. And it was just as enjoyable seeing Erin help Smith with his demons and shortcomings. A very well written and entertaining series.
Although I didn't read the other books in this series, I got into the story line which focused on Smith and Erin. There were characters from previous books, and while I was curious to know more about them, they didn't detract too much from the main story. I liked how Erin was trying to establish her independence, and she stirred up feelings in Smith that he wasn't expecting. While they each had their own emotional hardships, their feelings for each other progressed in a sweet, angsty way. And trust Tilly to save the day with her matchmaking! I'd love to meet the others in the Veteran Movers series!
I don't know but this story was too beautiful and sweet. Erin was the right woman for Smith, both have a pure soul and especially Smith was good man despite his sad and hard childhood. For me this story was just right and bilanced and with so little angst. I'm so happy that the brothers are family now. I liked this series very much.
I really enjoyed this series (just as much as the McCauleys, Body Shop Bad Boys & Donnigans). Smith and Erin were super cute together despite the gruffness (him) and steamy scenes. I really appreciate how Marie Harte get the perfect amount of heart, steam and just a touch of drama to create these well rounded stories. It always makes me smile when I read the books in these series :)
Smith Ramsey is so much more than he shows on the outside. It takes just one fellow lost soul to get him outside of his walls. Like recognizes like and sometimes two imperfect people make a perfect pair. The ending was just the wrap up we needed for this family. Questions answered and a whole future to be imagined.
I have read all of the Veteran Movers series and Smith is my favorite H of them all. He had his insecurities like the others, but there was something about him that really reached my heart. Erin was a good h, but Smith was the best of the couple. I did like that they brought out the very best in each other. My favorite book of the series.
What a book...I really enjoyed this story! And a perfect end to this series, I will miss these characters. Loved the ending!!! And as with several of these books/series I love the intermingling of characters from the various series. As typical with this author- hooked on page one and found I couldn’t put it down until I finished the book🙃
