Fantastic, Superb, Awesome, Never stop this series

I love this series so much. I feel like I personally know the characters, the fact that a significant character loses their life had me crying my eyes out for hours and mourning for days. Yes, I am an emotional person who totally immerses themselves into my books.

Old friends, new enemies

Aboard the newest exploration starship Dean, Mary, Slate, the newest and youngest Gatekeeper, Jules, Dean Jr. and Patty, and many more of their friends were now crew of the Light. Their first mission, to return Brik, a victim of the collector just awakened from millennia of suspension, to his people. Jules' new powers were growing as she learned to use them and among the Collector's victims they found a young man whose eyes glowed like Jules' but blue. Could he be another of the mysterious race whose powers Jules had acquired? If so, was it safe to release him?
All my favorite characters are back, new and improved! A new ship to wander the galaxy, new missions, new priorities, new headaches and lots of new dangers. Not to mention, a whopping, huge new cliffhanger! Told by a master storyteller, this tale of the Survivors is a great read!

I'm not going to review each and every of the 18, so far, books in this series because it would be exhausting. Suffice it to say, as I just this morning told my son, to have the talent to write a series of 18 books (so far) and each and every book be as engaging, thrilling and be able to pull a reader right into the story instead of being a spectator to it is so rare and his books do that. From book 1 to the current book 18. Also, these are not novellas or short stories. Each in this series is a full on NOVEL. I've been opened to genres I never thought I'd be interested in before and it's writers like Nathan Hystad that make that possible .... that make reading ..... an important part of my life.

The Alliance of Worlds now has a new spaceship, the Light. And her captain is Dean Parker. He has finally, officially, come out of retirement. And his first task is to deliver some of the aliens that were frozen by the Collector to their home worlds, if they even exist anymore. And if the beings are no longer there, where did they go to? But one of the beings is not being unfrozen. Jules has a feeling something isn't quite right with him. Magnus and his crew on the Horizon are tasked with finding out what has happened to a world where the inhabitants have been expunged. Read on to see how these events collide and bring out the hankies. Thank you, Nathan Hystad, for another great read.

Finally!

I'd gone through all of these, and in every single one of them previously, there were aspects of the story, writing, etc., that proved intriguing, but never a total package. This book provided that for fans of space opera... not Mil SF, mind you, but Space Opera.

I'm an audiobook fan, so when this switched from a favorite narrator to a totally different voice after the first 6-7, I was worried, but that's come down the back-stretch now too. Now I just need the final 3 to come out in audio.

Don't get me wrong, nothing is going to turn this series into LitSciFi, but as popcorn reading for people that devour this genre, you could do worse.

This series has become better and better, especially with the intriguing development of Jules, Dean's daughter. I like the way it alternates between Dean and the other characters. There's plenty of action, adventure, twists, turns and dilemmas.

This is part of a box set - in fact the last story in this box set - and I've already begun the next.

Each instalment is lengthy so it's certainly value for money even if it takes a while to read the entire set.

A brilliant fantasy /science-fiction story.

Recommended.

Well, I finished. No doubt there'll be more books churned out in this increasingly low effort series. The characters are OK, the plots aren't terrible, the attention to detail is non-existent and the editing is minimal (if any). There's better out there, but if you've finished all the good stuff, you could do worse.

Killed off one of my favorite characters

This adventure book has caused me a lot of crying. Therefore the lower rating.
The author weaves a very good story. He always has well developed characters.
We find out more about Jules.
A favorite character in every book is killed off.

Broke My Heart

Great book. Probably my second favorite thus far. I always appreciate you keeping us "grounded" with some tragedy, even if it breaks my heart and makes me stop reading for a day or two.

Stated up late to finish

Dean Parker now is captain of a new starship. What new adventures await the crew of the Light? Will they return more of the Collectors specimens home without problems?

The story continues and grows. I love following their adventures and lives! Powers so strong, Jules shows such character and her loyalty is fierce. I am excited to continue the journey with book thirteen.

Jewls is not alone, there are others like her. Magnus and Nat are lost, and Patty is taken. Stuff is going down hill fast.
