Anna meets Logan for the first time when she is still a non-dynamic, but during a subsequent attack on her city and the stress of escaping, she reveals as an Omega for the first time. This is where she gets her nickname, Kitten. It is a great meet-cute. While Logan disciplines her for the first time, he also rebuffs her, and since then, she has had a chip on her shoulder about him while secretly fantasizing about him.
What I loved was seeing how Logan ceding power to Anna still didn't result in her being very satisfied with their relationship, and clearly showed Logan manipulating her even at that point. Those scenes were so hot, basically topping from the bottom, even though Logan was always on top.
We also got to see the events of Tolis from a different perspective. It gave me a better sense of how the different types of omegas are used within battle, and how the omegas are trained and controlled in battle. Also, there is a bit of insight into how normalized public displays of sex and dominance is within their society, especially when it comes to controlling omegas. They mention, for instance, the laws that will require alpha controllers for all omegas, and the continuing injustice that omegas feel about that. I wish that the books would later also show Ethan as a team lead on Orla, but not sure if that would be redundant to other things in the series.
This was a great little side story that adds to the Lilly's main story, even though it's a precursor to her books in the series.
For now, I gave this story 4 stars. It's worth a read, but I'd still go for Lilly's stories first before these books. The overall series is worth it if you love omegaverse in a sci-fi dystopian galactic setting.
Book #2 old series, Book #3 in the new updated numbering system.
