Laila Bissett promised to convince Sunkissed Key’s most eligible bachelor to apply for the new shifter mate matching service, Cybermates. But she’s about to be triggered and enter full-blown crisis mode. There’s no turning back. Either she faces her painful, repressed memories, or they destroy her.
Gray Lowe is not signing up for a silly mate matching service. Not when his mate is standing at his front door. But how is it that she doesn’t even recognize him as her mate? Somehow her wolf is buried so deep that, until recently, she didn’t even know her animal existed. Even if she never accepts him, Gray intends to help Laila. But to do that, he must coax a terrified wolf to overcome a traumatic past.
SERIES READING ORDER:
1. P.O.L.A.R. 2. Cybermates 3. B.E.A.R.S.
It’s not necessary to read either P.O.L.A.R. to enjoy Cybermates. Each book is a standalone, but there are references to characters, places, and events in that first appeared in the previous series.
Cybermates is a spicy paranormal bear shifter romance series with an HEA and no cliffhangers.
This book has all 4 and 5* reviews. So I decided I’d give it a try.
It’s a nice quick easy read and (for me anyway) a perfect example of a 3* read. The characters are nice. The story is okay and everything goes as expected.
This was a fantastic start to a new series by Candace Ayers! I wish we could have seen more of Laila's past through her POV, but I loved how supportive and dependable Gray was for her. Even though he didn't want a mate, he was such a great one, and I loved watching them together ♡
Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hot: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Passionate: 😍😍😍😍 Is good, more not excellent... 🤣🤣 Good Reading!! 🎀
First book in a new series, a spin-off series of the P.O.L.A.R. series (begun with Rescue Bear). Fun, and stands alone (don't have to have read the previous books), but you also get updates on the bears and their mates.
Gray was a great, patient H. He's very alpha, but dealing with quite a lot with his mate. Got to be hard to admit that one's mate has rejected you and still be loyal and supportive of them.
I liked that Laila's trauma wasn't sexual. No abusive exes, no rape at a college party. It was actually trauma that might happen to a shifter (wild animals roaming around tend to attract some negative attention).
Laila did push my stupidity-limit a little with the refusal to talk to Gray about how her feelings were developing. He was right - he never said he didn't want a mate, just that he wasn't looking (i.e. she'd been found). Of course, he wasn't exactly talking about his feelings either (at least not with her), but he wasn't trying to find someone else either.
Still, the leads mesh well and are enjoyable to read. Some decent chemistry too, plus fun side characters (though I wasn't fond of Parker at all).
Alternating 1st person POV. No cheating (though Laila goes looking nothing happens). No OW/OM or love triangle nonsense. Good chemistry between the leads, plus good outside-the-bedroom chemistry too (Gray is super sweet and supportive). A fun town with plenty of good characters to enjoy. HEA and no cliffhanger.
Would I read more in this series? I've already ordered book 2, and I'd like to read the P.O.L.A.R. books too. Candace Ayers can be hit or miss for me, but the Sunkissed Key series looks to be a good one.
However the way these two "adults" handled their relationship was very irritating in stead of being open and honest with him she ran every time she got upset not the best way to manage a relationship even a story book one
Brilliant first book of the series Laila a wolf shifter hasn’t shifted since she was a small child as after witnessing her parents murder her wolf has hidden herself away. Grey doesn’t want a mate that’s until she turns up at his front door but she doesn’t recognise him as her mate he tries to help her and her wolf to become one. Laila tries to get in tune with her wolf but as she starts to come out Laila runs away it scares her and her wolf to come put. Grey decides to go down a different route which seems to be helping but next time he sees Laila she is a mess crying saying she needs to shift now as she is fed up of being afraid Laila breaks down in Gray’s arms. Gray agrees to help her against his better judgement but it doesn’t go well as a pop is heard Laila shifts and then attacks him. Grey wrestles Laila’s wolf back to his house where she settles down but once the wolf recedes Laila runs. Grey isn’t giving up an his mate he needs her to see that shifting is not a bad thing and for her to recognise him as his master. Only through his perusal does Laila agree to tackle her wolf issues and tells him her feelings towards him but she doesn’t think he wants a mate by her does and it’s her.
Cherished Mate is the first book in the Cybermate series, and is closely related to the P.O.L.A.R. Series. Laila agreed to help out her best friend, but isn’t prepared for how her life will change when she knocks on Gray’s door. They share a connection and he helps her through some tough times, but will Laila ever accept the wolf side of herself, or will she push Gray away with everything else?
Oh my, I just absolutely loved this book! Laila and Gray are so sweet, I love their trials, but most of all, I loved their connection and bond that they created. Laila has so much angst to work through, a past that she needed to overcome, and on top of it all, a wolf she needed to accept. I love the trust she handed over to Gray, and I also loved her strength and determination! Gray has his own inner demons to battle, but I loved that as soon as he met Laila, he just knew and slowly changed so that he could be the best man for Laila. He was caring, patient, and thoughtful, and I loved his playful side, too! They made a really cool team and while parts of this book were really emotional, I thought it was a great book to start off this spin-off series! I love Laila and Gray!
I came across the blurb for this story on a random and couldn’t wait for it to come out. I thought that I had saved it but it turned out I hadn’t and I had to hunt this story down again so I could purchase it. Thankfully, because it had a very original premise, I found it quickly and it did not disappoint. I felt so badly for Laila’s character and all that she had endured. Talk about trauma. She was just lucky that she had Gray to help her get over her traumatic past. That is what caught my attention even more than another shifter cybermates storyline. Laila was the friend of a very dominate rabbit shifter mated to a polar bear who wanted to start a Cybermate website for shifters and recruited her to score Gray for the website only to learn that he had no interest because he wanted Laila from the moment he saw her. I loved this story and bought the second the same day. I need to read the P.O.L.A.R. stories before them to learn more about some of the characters.
This the first book in Candace’s new series Cybermates. I love how Candace seamlessly blends her previous stories with her new ones. Even though Cherished Mate is a standalne story, Candace makes sure you understand how characters and storylines fit together without a boring retelling of the same information. We met Gray in her POLAR series and he is in Sunkissed Key to regroup after almost being killed. Laila has only recently learned she is a shifter. After a tragic accident she buried all knowledge of being a shifter. When Laila meets Gray she doesn’t understand her and her wolfs reaction to him. Gray knows exactly who Laila is, his mate. After learning about Laila, Gray makes it his mission to teach her about being a shifter and to claim her as his mate. I love Candace’s writing. Her development of the world building and characters for this series makes the book both easy to read and attention grabbing. This was another great book for Candace. I enjoy it and look forward to her next book in the series!
What a great start to this series Cybermates. Laila only just found out she was a wolf shifter a year ago, and she is not loving it. She just wants to be normal. Her best friend has given her the job of getting Gray signed up for Cybermates. She is determined to complete the tasks she is given to her by her best friend and new mom, Parker. As Laila gets to Gray's house she starts having strange feelings, one she knows has to do with her and her wolf. Gray did not expect to find his mate at his front door. Finding out that Laila has something so horrible in her past that her wolf refuses to emerge. So Gray has found his new mission. to make Laila whole and unite her and her wolf. Love the story, it has humor, sadness, excitement, and a bit of miscommunication. Their journey to their HEA is bit of a hard one, but love and a true mate make the struggle worth it.
>Book Review – Cherished Mate >I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 1st in the Cybermates series and ends with an HEA. Gray is the most eligible shifter bachelor in town, only he is not interested in settling down. He is being pressured to fill out an online dating form for his buddy’s wife. When Laila, a friend of the wife, comes to his house with the forms, Gray realizes that she is his mate. Laila did not know she was a shifter and is not in touch with her inner wolf. I liked the scenes where Gray tries to help Laila shift. >The story is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 4 stars. The romance was very quick, but shifter romances usually are. I wish there was more character development. What happened to Laila after age 4? This story is very short and could have benefited with more development of all of the characters.
A spinoff from the author’s P.O.L.A.R. Series, this book features the brother of the heroine from the last book in that series, Gray Lowe. Wolf Shifter and former government operative Gray, is trying to come to terms with his new status. When Laila, best friend of Parker (another P.O.L.A.R. Heroine) a rabbit shifter who is starting a shifter dating site, comes to get Gray’s paperwork, he realizes that he has just met his mate. Laila is a wolf shifter who doesn’t shift. A trauma in her past keeps her from doing so, and Gray is determined to help his mate…
A quick read, this short romance is sweet, occasionally funny, and enjoyably romantic. With many cameo appearances from the P.O.L.A.R. team, and especially from Parker and her new baby, fans of the author will enjoy this book.
A fun read for those who love paranormal romance, especially in quick read form!
Laila, a wolf shifter in denial, takes on the task of getting Gray, a wolf shifter dealing with betrayal and a case of wandering spirit, signed up for a new shifter mate matchmaking site. As the story progresses statements are misinterpreted, secrets from the past come to light, and fighting against fate and their nature causes more grief than if they would be able to communicate. Candace Ayers’ new spin off from her P.O.LA.R. series is off to a promising start. I am hoping she has something planned down the line for Mr. Zoo, who had multiple cameos in the P.O.L.A.R. series, and Dylan, wo made his appearance in this first Cybermates book.
I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
Gray the brother of Grace thinks he doesn't want a mate until fate comes knocking at his door and it all ends up out the window. Laila is a hairdresser and only found out a year ago that she was a wolf shifter after they suffered a very traumatic time when she was a child\cub. As he wolf starts to come out and Gray realises who Laila is to him, can he help fix the broken wolf?????? Can Laila become one with she broken wolf and find her HEA she needs and wants?????I loved the ladies at the hairdresser's and had me giggling with their quips. A new book in a new series starts with a huge bang. This is the next step from P.O.L.A.R as they were closed down. Can't wait to see who is book 2
Parker waited until she was in labor to ask her best friend, Laila Bissett to help with her babies. Completing her infant’s nursery and to help make Cybermates, her shifter online matchmaking service, a success by getting the island’s most eligible bachelor, Gray Low to complete his application. But Gray’s certain he’s not in the market for a mate until Laila knocks on his door.
When Laila asks Gray about completing the Cybermates application, he thinks it’s Laila’s idea of a flirt and that her inner wolf would have told her they were mates just as his wolf was screaming it to him. But a youthful trauma made Laila suppress her wolf and Laila’s only known she’s a shifter for a few months plus… she doesn’t really talk to her wolf. Rating: 3.5tars
A shifter romance about sacrifice & dedication and investing everything for the one you love - oh yeah a WINNER!
Gary & Lialia love story. This is a shifter romance is perfect for those that like shifter one true soul mate ever lasting love. However this one adds some spice - not the same old story. This has tradgey and the sacrifice, dedication, patience and unconditional support Gary gives her is so beautiful! The trust and hope Lialia holds & gives sparingly is rewarded. It is a terrific live story of putting that one person first & healing before moving forward. Great story. More book reviews: https://www.My2CentsBookReviews.com or @my2cents_booklover Thank you!
Laila has been tasked by her best friend to meet Gray and get him to fill out the paperwork needed for a new mate matching service. Wanting to get it done, she goes and meets Gray. One look from Gray and he knows that Laila is is mate. In no way shape or form, is he going to sign up for a service when he mate is standing right in front of him.
The one thing I really liked about this book was that Laila didn't know the Gray was her mate. Her wolf had been hurt in the past and she had suppressed it so deep that she didn't even recognize it.
Gray was so patient with her while he tried to help her.
Gray is an ex covert op, a wolf shifter, and not looking for a mate. But he found one anyway. Laila found out she was a wolf shifter a year ago and she was traumatized as a child.
Laila doesn't want to bring her wolf out. Gray is slowly weaning her wolf out. Well they finally be together as mate?
The plot is Laila getting over her trauma. The characters are relatable, sometimes funny, and unique.
I like this story because it shows that people can overcome their trauma with the help of friends and a mate. Highly recommended.
When Parker sends Laila to get Gray to fill in his Cybermates form he knows he has found his mate. When Parker goes into labor in the bar she gets Laila to promise to finish the nursery meet the tech guy and make such Gray filled out his forms for Cybermates. She is shock to see the nursery is not started then the tech guy complains that there is too little information in the file she had been given. She heads off to see Gray intent on getting him to fill out the forms. Gray answers the door and sees his mate but she seems unaware that he is hers. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Shifter romance spice 1/5, not detailed really but the mate intense drive and adoration was enough. Her wolf was traumatized as a kid, she doesn't have her shifter abilities to recognize he's her mate but he is ready to help her. The only drama or climax is he never mentions he's her mate so she's convinced her wolf is crazy, she tries leaving him to protect her heart. It's all rather sweet, nothing scary, painful or dramatic between them. All ends in an HEA of course. No future epilogue, no clue as to their future but we know they're together, claimed and in love. A quick sweet read in between the darker shifter or mafia spicy books.
This is Gray and Laila's story . Gray is one free feeling wolf whom never seems to be able to stay in one place for long . He is opening a new business but even with that he feels the urge to move on until he meets one wolf shifter whom he can not get off his mind and once he has found out that she is having problems yep mate that he is , he is there for her . Laila has no idea that she has a wolf but knows about shifters . Now she in on a mission to keep her promise to her friend doing what needs to be done . This is well written and recommended to all !!
I loved this book so much. Laila and Gray's story is filled with deep emotions, heart wrenching drama and hot passion. My heart ached for Laila and melted at how loving and caring Gray was with her. In the end I thought she was a very lucky woman and he was a perfect book boyfriend. This romance will really pull you in and tug at your heartstrings it unfolds and this couples relationship evolves. Just such a wonderful read! I'm looking forward to book two. This is my sincere review that I am posting of my own choosing.
Grey was sweet for most of the book. What happened there at the end? He turned into a caveman.
I didn't like that Laila told him not to do... something to her body... again, and he immediately did it again with no repurcussions. I didn't like that he forced her to admit her feelings before he admitted his own-- or if he's going to pull that s#%^, it should've been set up better that discussing feelings was a problem for him. These things seemed out of character after he treated Laila like gold for most of the book.
First in her new Cybermates series, Candace Ayers continues her shifter themed stories and this one does not disappoint!
In this story, we meet Laila and Gray, both shifters but with past experiences which shape their human and shifter beings. Laila is very funny and Gray is extremely patient and kind. They make a wonderful couple!
This story was both funny and poignant, with plenty of sexy times as well!
Looking forward to more stories this series!
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book, however, this is my honest opinion.
This is such a cute, beautiful, and steamy story! Gray, an alpha wolf shifter who’s trying to pull his life together after the betrayal of his last job. Laila, a lost wolf shifter, is living a nightmare after witnessing something horrific when she was young. But the moment she’s forced to meet Gray, he knows that she’s his mate. The pure love and patience he showers her with as she reconnects with her wolf is so precious! He truly does cherish her! Great story!
This is a nice shifter romance story about a bachelor shifter who finds his mate unexpectedly. When Laila goes to sign up Gray for a mate matching service, he immediately recognizes her as his mate but he is a little confused about why her wolf doesn't recognize him to be her mate. Gray is patient and works with Laila to find and accept her wolf. She falls in love with Gray but is wary because he hasn't told her that she is his mate. They finally get over those issues and find their happily ever after.
And we're back to the dang heroine with her flip flopping inner monologing and being wishy washy. "And, I couldn’t forget that he’d specifically answered Parker’s questionnaire by saying he didn’t want a mate." NO what he said was he wasn't looking for a mate (because she's it) next we will have to deal with her getting irrationally angry and mean with the hero. I had such strong hopes after Grace and Konstantin book but this author can't seem to help herself. She for some reason thinks readers enjoy these type of women.
