As soon as she fell into the world of beast men, a leopard forcibly took her back to his home. Indeed, Bai Jingjing is at a complete and utter loss. The males in this world are all handsome beyond compare, while the women are all so horrid that even the gods shudder at their sight. As a first-rate girl from the modern world (she's even a quarter Russian), Bai Jingjing finds herself sitting at the center of a harem filled with beautiful men -- at the very peak of existence.
Aquí no me pasa.
A mí nunca me convenció.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I have this one paused. The writing is poor. The female lead is so annoying, like, really annoying. It's disgusting the comments she makes about other females bodies. The fatshaming is real, even if they are not even fat. She keeps acting like she is the prettiest and better than anyone else. Her way of thinking is truly immature and annoying. I honestly wish the wolves ate her. Maybe I'll keep going in the future but I don't recommend it to anyone, specially girls that have eating disorders or body dysmorphia.
The fat phobia in this was shocking, absolutely shocking.
In the second chapter, the main character calls very normal looking girls ugly and fat. She even screams "they're wearing crop tops even though they have flabby bellies", as if that is some sort of crime. MC claims she pities all the men on the planet because none of the women look like her. And she's supposed to be likeable!
Could not continue without severely triggering my ED.
➡️ Read if: you need to turn your brain off and simply enjoy lots of pretty boys (and fluffy baby animals!)
⏭ Skip if: you care about healthy themes in a story and don't want a vapid female lead nor toxic male leads
This is an ongoing manhua. I read until chapter 214.
🟥 Why did I read this far, and why I gave ⭐⭐
It was an especially tiring week and I wanted a mindless read. I read a previous manhua w/ catmen that's fluffy & cute, so I was intrigued by the cat ears on this cover. Also, I'm someone who kinda needs to know "what happens next" lol so yeah I read to the latest ep. And I wanted to see the cubs!
For story, themes, and character development, this is 1 star. I added the 2nd star purely coz it takes so much effort to draw anything this long lol.
👉 Detailed Review (a 10-min read)
Not only do you need to suspend your disbelief, you also HAVE TO suppress all your other beliefs to actually get through this. It has lots of triggers. It will offend many times. Misogyny parading as women empowerment.
The story summary alone is already problematic, with the line "the males are so handsome beyond compare, while the women are so horrid that even the gods shudder at their sight"
Given the premise that this is the world of beastmen, who are primarily animals with human forms, sure, our human norms, morality, and ideologies may not apply. But what makes a lot of dialogue triggering is that they were said when characters are in human form.
For example *slight spoiler - skip to next paragraph to avoid* we all know that peacock males use their feathers to attract females. It's natural for that animal. But in this story's peacock tribe, we're shown a male peacock in human form only being nice to a female he deems beautiful, and saying to someone's face that she's "way too ugly" just because of some freckles. Maybe real peacocks are like that. 🤷♀️ But the fact that it's shown as a man -not a bird- saying that to a woman made my blood boil.
The story panders to the fantasy of having lots of handsome admirers fighting for your affection. But it's not even inclusive in that sense, because the female lead is portrayed as ~exceptionally beautiful~ that's why all the boys love her.
The other beastwomen who have normal bodies - smaller chests, imperfect eyes & noses, darker skin, flabbier bellies - are depicted as the lesser choice now that the "pretty one" has appeared. What if the reader actually has those characteristics? I sure do not have a flat abs nor pearl-like skin. So even in fantasy fiction, I'm not worthy? What a blow to body positivity.
The author does try to insert some "it's what's inside that counts" message by contrasting the FL's "kindness" (i.e. being docile, always bright as sunshine) vs attractive beastwomen's "evilness". But in the first 2 chapters, the FL thought this about the normal beastwomen, "Wow, they have squinty eyes and upturned noses. And their bellies are flabby but they wear crop tops? I feel sorry for the men here."
I mean, seriously? You expect me to be sympathetic w/ a character that has this mentality towards women like herself?
It's true that most beastwomen mistreat their males and are domineering & spoiled, so I'm not defending them. But it would've been better if FL cited that as the reason she feels sorry for the men instead of their physical traits.
The women appear to have "power" in this story because they're rare and essential commodities for procreation. There's no real empowerment here.
As for the men, they are indeed all pretty, and will make you think, "Aw, I wish I were pampered & adored & treated that well in real life."
Which is true to a degree. They do pamper and spoil the FL a lot. But the two male leads, plus second leads (this is a reverse harem after all) have exhibited toxic traits. One threatened to scar the FL's face so that no one else can know she's beautiful. The other is violently possessive. Another one is obssessed/stalkerish. Honestly, there's only one love interest who's actually decent... so far.
As for the plot... things are happening, but there is no point in sight. They're simply wandering, letting things happen. At some point, the FL attains a goal & works toward it, which was a good period in the series, but no overarching story. Since this is an isekai, I'm simply assuming that her goal is to get back to her own world, but she isn't even trying to do that at this point.
There's zero character development as well. Okay, maybe 1% 😅
Overall, there are a lot of things I disliked in this manhua. But would I keep reading it? Yes, because the author did create an interesting world of beastmen tribes, and I wonder what other species are in it and how they'd look like. Will FL get back to her world? Will she be able to bring her harem of beastmen there? Was this all a dream? As I mentioned, I'm a person who likes to know what happens next, how the story ends. 😊
DNF after chapter 2. Honestly, I should have seen this coming with the low-key racism in the story description (describing how the character is a “superior female, and she’s even a quarter Russian!), but decided to give it a shot. Whatever this story turns out to be doesn’t justify the misogyny of the first two chapters. I was honestly appalled not only by how badly the male lead treats the protagonist in just two chapters, but how awful the protagonist is toward other “less attractive” women. The art isn’t even that great either, so it really has zero redeeming qualities. If you’re looking for a webcomic to check out you can do and deserve much better than this drivel.
Not really the best book. I like the idea of women being superior but as the story goes on it gets annoying since there were fewer females and lots of males. Females have all the power while the males do hard work. Although it looks like equality, there is still no equality. The drawing quality and coloring are all great but having FIVE HUSBANDS?? Can you imagine? I mean ok in that world females can have many many husbands but they also bully their husbands? Since this is a revers harem idk who to choose to be her husband. The girl is a bit dumb too I guess...She's not strong enough to "tame" the beast men and not smart enough. Although the story is still progressing idk if I like it like all my 5 stars book.
Well I'm not a fan of revers harem or the idea of this kind of "equality" but if other people love reverse harem and handsome males this is the book. Updates on Webnovel, and it ranked number 1, so I gave it a try....and not up to my standards.
This is ultimate furry smut; too bad the story wasn't better. It's a case of 'everyone wants the MC because she's so beautiful' and 'if I can't have her, no one can' AND 'she's not like other girls'. Too bad the story wasn't better. I thought it was great that the MC was so resourceful, but I found it difficult to believe and to swallow that she was 17, especially when all the men she was interested was much older than she was by several years. *barf*
I actually really like this story despite all of the problems. It is very clear that in their society males and females both have expectations for each other and those that don’t fit into those boxes are outcasts. Right now I’m reading to find out how long they are going to make it (currently 380 chapters) and how many husbands/ children are Qingqing going to have
this was a great find I normally don't read webtoons but this was a good find I just wish the female protagonist would grow but I think I would have to read more for that.
This is a guilty pleasure webcomic. I can't believe I'm all caught up. This isn't good. It's not. The only thing objectively good about this is the art. Cons: 1. 16 year old magically goes into a world of anthros with zero explanation and "marries" a dude in his forties. 2. Males are shapeshifters, and have animal ears and tails, but females have no animal characteristics whatsover. 3. 1000 to 1 male to female ratio is impossible. 4. All women are "ugly", and as the narrator describes: freckles, high noses, squinty eyes. Not skinny. If we're doing animals going into estrus and double headed penises in snakes, build is important when birthing. 5. Every single dude in this manga forces himself on her, and she just falls in love with them. 6. She alternates between being very technologically adept, i.e. makes flour mills, water wheels, etc., and infruriatingly stupid. She also has the weakest constitution ever. 7. There is no plot. It's not episodic. It doesn't follow arcs, and there is no overall story. She has made no effort to go back to her world.
Pros: Art is cute. Some characters are tolerable. And I can't stop reading it. I don't know why.
I don't recommend this at ALL. If you read it, be aware of what you are getting into. It is a typical shojou with a weak female mc, sexual harassment that she finds charming, and asshole members of the harem. Someone explain why I can't stop.
Bai is a very immature girl who manages to constantly get pregnant, the fat phobia and emphasis on being 'pretty' is shocking (I have freckles and for them to be classed as ugly I took personal) she manages to get into more trouble than the mystery gang who are literally hunting for it, then she just sits and waits to be rescued. Saying all of that I did find the read a guilty pleasure, mostly because she's surrounded by hot beast men who just want to impregnate her
So the art style in this is pretty decent, I really liked it and the story is very interesting and cute with a good premise but boy it was triggering, fatphobia and body shaming, etc, it has some issues that I couldn't get past, so I dnf-ed at maybe 50% , because it is still on-going.
Oh and It is a reverse harem, with animal and bird shifters.
I’m addicted to reading & so far, I can say that it’s one of the best reads for me. You’ll simply be hooked & will be drag into a world full of mixed emotions. I just love this story. Thanks author! 🙏🏻
Ongoing rh novel, has TRIGGERS Translation is okay but I’m still grateful since my Chinese abilities suck I read the webtoon before this and already knowing the characters in my head was great for my wild imagination!!
