"You had me at hello", right, that's what Dorothy says to Jerry in Jerry Macguire. This is what happened to me with this book, A Girl Called London. From the very first chapter, I was hooked, entranced really, by a great dynamic romance. We all know how much I love these. This book is a true romance, there are no other moving pieces to distract or further the plot. This my friends is a great book, with fantastic dialogue, and superb characters that are sexy and fun and filled with...yeah you guessed it ROMANCE!

Tanya Grant is a corporate lawyer who is a bit reluctant to put herself out there again. After her one and only relationship crashed and burned, Tanya has focused on work and not much else. At the insistence of her ill-grandmother, Tanya takes the leap and begins the search of purchasing a flat in London. A chance meeting in an elevator introduces the reluctant, self-reliant lawyer to a gorgeous tenant name Sophie. Sophie is a knockout, the only problem Tanya makes a complete ass out of herself and will have an uphill climb to impress her new neighbor.

Sophie London has had it up to here with rude, ill-mannered Londoners. Her philosophy is it doesn't cost anything to have good manners. When she stops to help a gorgeous brunette who fell exiting the Tube blows her off, she a bit pissed. When the same woman barrels into her in her elevator knocking her back, she is downright angry. The only problem is she is going to run into Tanya all the time now, once she discovers they live in the same building.

A chance encounter throws these two opposites into each other's path, time and time again. Every time the encounter softens and they feel that pull of attraction getting stronger. A slow burn romance, I love it! Throw in adorable characters, I dig it. Make the dialogue real and fantastic, you will have me forever. You couldn't have taken this one away from me if you tried. I adored everything about this book, I live for these type of pure romance novels. Sexy, witty and fun! A wonderful read!!! 5 BIG STARS

Again a great read!

I really enjoyed reading this one and I loved that characters from previous books show up. Again there was humor and the romance was great. I’m not ready to let the London girls go so I’m glad that I’ve one more to go. This series is definitely worth reading.

This book shows Clare Lydon at her best: witty, funny and downright romantic. Additionally, the author manages to introduce serious issues such as homophobia and family conflict with a perfect balance between depth and feel-good moments.

Ms. Lydon takes the reader, from the confines of a small lift to the big London city as a background, through a sweet, funny and romantic journey.

Overall, 4.5 stars. Great holiday read.

Had cameo's from each book so far. Jess/Lucy and Kate/Meg. But as for the story itself, hmm. Fell pretty flat for me personally. I mean here you've got Tanya who is a mid 30's woman with so many mommy issues it's crippling. And don't get me started about her spineless father. That guy. UGH. Anyway. I just didn't care for how she treated Sophie. So it kinda falls in my meh zone. It was ok.

Tanya is a high-powered lawyer, interesting, attractive and successful, very confident in her world, with a flaw; she is frequently rude and brash and rather full of her own importance. When her Gran dies Tanya has no choice but to take her Gran’s adored dog before her uncaring mother sends it to the local rescue. But a dog doesn't exactly fit into her busy flat dwelling life style.

Sophie is growing her dog walking business and licking her wounds from a broken heart while she figures out what she really wants out of life. Under normal circumstances they have nothing in common, but they keep crossing paths and somehow make a connection beyond that of pet owner and dog walker. When they take a road trip to Tanya’s home town things begin to move beyond what either had planned in their lives.

A sweet romcom, this is book three of the London series and definitely stands alone. Those who have read “This London Love” will recognise Tanya as the decidedly unlikeable villain, and it’s good to see her grow into herself, let herself be more than the nasty bottled up woman who has been distorted by her mother and her own baggage. Sophie is a total sweetie who you can’t help but love, and her interactions with her Dad are priceless.

It well written with great descriptions and imagery, great fun, real emotion and hot sex as usual. Both women are on an emotional journey, one maybe more serious than the other, but both have things to learn and a history to overcome. Despite the growth and angst that drives the women together this is a light hearted read full of wit and humour, drawn with love.

Thoroughly enjoyable read and for me, Ms Lydon’s best yet, as her writing, and her characters mature.

A Girl Called London is the third book in Clare Lydon’s London Romance series, and it fully stands alone. Tanya and Sophie are truly the focus of this book as they go from their rocky beginning to their happily ever after, and characters from London Calling and This London Love join them as friends and acquaintances. I hadn’t read either of those books before picking up A Girl Called London and it didn’t matter at all. These side characters are the perfect supports, helping the two leads find themselves so that they can find happiness with each other.

Loved it!

I loved this book just like I loved the other two books in this series! Tanya's character was definitely redeem from the previous novel with Meg and Kate. Sophie's character was definitely very endearing! The supporting cast was equally charming! All in all, a very good book!

Cute and Emotional!

Tanya is getting a fresh start south of the river in London but is soon devastated by her Gran’s death and her mother’s plans to send her Gran’s beloved dog Delilah for rehoming. Determined not to have that happen, Tanya weighs up introducing Delilah into her life while trying to figure out what to do about Sophie, a dog walker who lives in her building, after they keep crossing one another’s paths and Sophie appears to be interested in getting to know her better.

Loved this addition to the series as much as I love every other story in it. A Girl Called London is the third in the series, but what is so lovely is them being standalone stories that you can read in any order. So, if you have read the other stories, some familiar characters pop up, and if you haven’t you’ll meet them in other stories but it’s a great universe these characters all live within. Tanya and Sophie had an awkward start but it worked really well for them and I loved their interactions, even if they were clumsy or a little edgy. Sophie was quickly invested in Tanya and when she learned all Tanya was dealing with she was extremely kind and supportive.

I loved how they had friends and family that both supported them or had contributed to both of them being cautious about relationships. It gave them something extra they had in common to bond over but also support one another with. The fact that Delilah also played a key part in getting them together made her a star of the show. As usual Clare has all the trademarks of a good romance, a little humour, a little drama and heartache, and whole lot of great moments be they cute, steamy, or a little awkward.

Loved this and love the series. Cannot recommend it enough!

I decided to finally plunge into Clare Lydon series A London Romance, couldn't remember which was the first story and picked this one.
"ERROR" ? lol, yup, it's apparently the third installment, but I was quickly taken and into the flow. The Tanya character seems a bit bipolar, socially inept and insecure while the other one felt like a bit of fresh air despite her messy precedent relation.

Together, they collides, more than once, have sharp interaction but get curious, and some more ^^

For those who wants something light, beware that Tanya has some pretty heavy bagage that are not really fun.

Another winner by Clare Lydon...

I'm really enjoying the London series and was eagerly awaiting this instalment. I loved the main characters in this book. Lydon manages to write characters that are easy to relate to and connect with. Along with that the connection and spark between the two is obvious from the start and I really enjoyed how the romance played out. It was realistic and I love that in a book. Throw in good secondary characters and a cute dog and you have a winner.

Definitely worth your time reading this one and I'm looking forward to the next instalment...

I read this as a stand alone book - not realising it was the 3rd in the series - but I loved it and it made me laugh out loud and cry real tears - especially loved the definition of a "bad" lesbian! I really lived with the two main characters - read it in a day. A better review is not possible to give.

3.5 stars.

I was a third of the way through this book before I realized that Tanya was the same Tanya from the previous book. She's characterized completely differently in this one. That drastic change took me out of the story a bit. Otherwise this is an enjoyable read.

Another sweet rom-com from Clare Lydon with the two mains who you are laughing at/with and rooting for from the get-go. Both women are relatable with their insecurities and a bit of additional baggage they need to work through both separately and together to reach their Happily Ever After. (Though I must admit it took me part of the book to realize Tanya was the same Tanya from This London Love since she was so remarkably different in this book, though of course I enjoyed her personality and complexity much more this time round). A great round of supporting characters with a few family members you just want to slap upside the head lol. It was my first time listening to Lucy Price-Lewis narrate but I truly hope it's not my last, she did a great job.

Took me a while to finish this but only because life got in the way 😭 loved it. The London Series books are so easy to read and conversation flows between characters. Sometimes a bit cheesy for my liking but I still enjoyed it 😁

Cute book! Loved the minor appearances from past characters from previous books in this series.

That being said
1.Kate and Meg got married kinda fast no? They did have that kind of epic love though so not supriesed
2. This is very minor but it still got me. Didn’t Jess introduce Kate to Tanya, so why did Megan introduce them?

Anyways good book!

😽😻📚Claire Bear & Mel Mel's Book Reviews 📚😻😽 'A girl called London' by Clare Lydon.
Genre: Lesbian Romance
About The Book: Tanya is a workaholic and is always on the go. She has a difficult relationship with her parents yet is close to her severly ill grandmother. Sophie is working at a bar and feels that she is at a dead end. She is also sleeping with her boss who is not offering a commitment. When Tanya goes to visit a flat in the building Sophie lives in, they have a chance encounter that sets the wheels in motion to change both of their lives forever.

My Review: This is a lovely light read. The romance between Tanya and Sophie is releastic and charming.
The author has mostly completed a good balance of show and tell. This story shows a good awareness of the prejudice gay and lesbian people still face.
I smiled at the joyful scences especially when Sophie is dog walking. The personalities of the dog's are adorable and this made me laugh out loud.
Sophie and Tanya have sexual moments. The author has done a brilliant job of making this sexy, steamy, full of love and not cheap.

I don't understand why Sophie is referenced to as 'a girl called London'. That really is not clear at all. The story was slow at times and I found myself loosing interest in some parts. The novel has been written in 3rd person in the POV of Sophie and Tanya, which is good but I feel it would have been fantastic if it was written 1st person in the POV of Sophie and Tanya.

Triggers - Death of family member. Sex scenes (Steamy but not erotic).

This is a lovely light romance and I recommend this to anyone who enjoys this genre.

By this book, Lydon is nearly up to her later standards of pleasant and fun books. Not quite, so this teeters on the edge of a 3 for me, but I really only have two problems with the book.

First, you have to forget that Tanya was in This London Love. The Tanya in the current book has nothing in common with that character except her name. The crude woman who was terrible to Kate? The serial one-night stands she flung in Meg's face while they still shared a house a year after they broke up? Forget all that, because in this book Tanya is a sweet, misunderstood woman who somehow hasn't even had sex in two years and has never really had a serious relationship (despite being with Meg for four years and buying a house with her?). Lydon doesn't let you forget that Tanya has a backstory, but she's trying to rewrite it. Ugh.

Second, when one writes sex scenes, one should avoid the word "juices". Just, yeah.

This book really struck home for me because my grandmother passed away earlier this year. I could truly feel Tanya’s pain having lost someone who meant so much in her life. It was also very sweet that she took in her grandmothers dog when her mother threatens to give her away. Anyone who knows me knows I have a soft spot when it comes to animals.

I think the book did a great job explaining why Tanya and Sophie acted the way they did in their relationships. Past experience really does taint how people regard future relationships. Both women had been hurt in the past and needed to work out their issues before they were able to love each other. I’m excited to read the next installment in the London series.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes romance novels. The relationship is very believable and the smexy scenes are extra smexy. Plus, who could say no to a cute puppy?

Thanks to the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Another Dynamic, engaging, delightful read from Clare Lydon! Surprised? You shouldn’t be!

Ms Lydon has brought me back to London for another trip for my heart. I have just fallen for another couple of wonderful characters that have lite up my heart. I must admit I cried a bit upon the loss of Gram (a woman much like my own Gram, and residing in the very town she lived in prior to emigrating to the states). This book has a few characters that I swear Ms Lydon has taken from my family tree. My mother treated me much like Tanya was by her mum. So the story seemed awfully close to me. I loved Alan, his steadfast love and support were so key to the story. Well written, thoughtful and endearing. I highly recommend this book to all.

I really enjoyed this book and contrary to another's opinion, the fact that Tanya was such a rude person with issues and Sophie had her issues made the book that much more interesting. I want to read an every day life book. These characters had flaws and fell for each other anyway. It happens every day, it's happened to me and I am sure it's happened to many others. Not every book is a fairy tale with the characters spotless and falling in love with a sexual build up. This story is relatable and a nice change. I don't want to tell any more of the story; take a chance on it and you won't be disappointed.

When I read a books’ blurb, I want to know that it has potential…a well written story, interesting characters, humour and romance. I have a few favourite authors, Clare Lydon being one of them.

This is because Lydon’s books have most if not all of those mentioned qualities.
“A Girl Called London” is a great read. What makes the story interesting and work is that the characters are well developed and likeable. You want to know more about Tanya and Sophie, their history, how they meet and the potential they have.

All I can say is that Lydon has done it again!

Both main characters have a problematic relationship with their mother and they share the desperate need to overcome the effects this has on both of their lives. And with each others help they might actually be able to succeed - once they admit to it.

Tanya and Sophie don't have the best start, and it is quite entertaining for the reader how they (literally) keep bumping into each other. If this was a movie, american, shot in the 60s, and with a straight storyline, Tanya would probably have been played by Doris Day.

Definitely a lovely summer read, especially for "London"-series fans.

Another hit by Clare Lydon
Although the third book of the series, it is a standalone book. I have read all three and I thought this was the best book so far. Smouldering romance but also heartache of family life. I thought Tanya’s mother and father very realistic. Tanya and Sophie literally bump into each and I enjoyed seeing their romance grow. Also liked seeing the other characters from the two previous books return giving it a true family feeling. Extremely well written as usual by Clare Lydon. Great characters you care about, make this a riveting read. I can’t wait for the next book.

A Girl Called London

This series has been super cute so far 😊

Tanya and Sophie have a somewhat meet-cute encounter, but so much had to unravel before they got to know each other. They were both at a point of change in their lives and really needed to sort out their own issues. Enter Delilah, Tanya's gran's dog that she took in, to shake things up between them.

Another great story in the series, which I'm still not reading in order. I'll fix that soon lol.

Really liked it

I really enjoyed this story and the way these two main characters were drawn to each other, opened up to each other and subsequently healed each other. Lydon has a talent for creating characters you can't help but get attached to, and I love her humor as well.

Nice

I enjoyed reading this love story. Tanya was very different and nicer than she was in the previous story. Tanya and Sophie were so much in love and great together. Both had baggage from the past and worked through it. The story is well written with great love scenes. Very nice ending.

This is the third book in the series and i was surprised at how much fun this book was. Tanya and Sophie's introduction is amusing yet ironically very believable. The family dynamics involved in this story are unfortunately still a reality in toady's world. Clare Lydon does a superb job engaging the reader in this book. I found the discussion of "gaydar" very humorous.
