Douchka: The story of a dog

Rate this book

An absolutely heartbreaking book that tells the story of owning a destructive dog so well. The book makes no secret of the dog dying in the end, the title being an overt allusion to this event. Yet despite the unrelenting lack of awareness that Doushka shows to its owner or any other living thing that it runs into, this inevitable death was greeted, by me, with a sense of disbelief. I have not cried so much at a book before. It's such a shame it's not more widely read.
