Tautened

Rate this book
“ People who were meant to be together were connected by this thread. Maybe that’s why you feel drawn to her. Maybe you guys have that thread."

When Sophia, a timid young woman who grew up intensely sheltered following the death of her father, meets Annabella, a loud, proud lesbian, the two are inexplicably drawn to each other. Though the pair grows closer and closer, the dreams of one threaten to tear them apart. Can their thread survive the tautening?

This is a great young love story. The two main characters are dynamic and the dialogue felt natural. I loved reading the thoughts of the characters.

The copy I have is riddled with errors. It needs a good edit. They seem to be in bunches leaving large chunks of the book easy to read despite the typos. There was also a scene towards the end that you see in movies, but wouldn't happen past 2001.

If you can ignore the small issues the story really is worth a read. I only gave it four stars because it is a story a lot of kids need.

This book is a bit of a departure from the kinds of books I normally read, but I appreciated this story. I think it's something so needed in the realm of lesbian books to have complex characters but without manipulation or violence being the main parts of their stories. The book addresses (mild spoiler) difficulties lesbians face coming out to strictly religious parents without sugar coating but is still an easy read. Which I think is really good especially for younger lesbians who might be used to lesbian stories always ending in some sort of tragedy.

this romance is truly beautiful. the story follows two fantastic characters and i found this book impossible to put down. there were a few things that weren’t my cup of tea; a bit of miscommunication and what follows said trope, but other than that i really enjoyed this book.

i do think there were certain moments which could have been developed more and expanded on but the story and characters are still totally sound and this is definitely a great read.

I'm not usually a fan of novels like this but this one is fun, some paragraphs hit quite hard. Thank you for writing it!

I didn’t realise this story was YA. This would be 100% helpful to the LGBTQ+ youths just figuring out their identity and their place in society. It is very idealistic, affectionate and sentimental.

Good book

I liked this book. I like how it showed someone trying to figure out their sexuality and how she meets someone, and they work out everything, and even through the distance, they still try to make it work.

I’m not sure if it formatted weirdly on kindle or something, but there were some grammar and spelling mistakes that were distracting. Other than that, it was a very cute story.
