Le Pianure Rosse sono infuocate. Ma il mio re fae lo è di più. Siamo stati catturati da un bellicoso gruppo di guerrieri Vundi. Sembrerebbe terribile, no?
When I began writing Taylor and Leander's story, I had NO idea it would capture so many of your hearts and imaginations. Thank you for loving them as much as I do. You are making my dreams come true.

I'm sorry to say but these books seem to get both better and worse with every new installment. Unlike quite a few other readers I never had a problem with the writing but looking back now it is getting much better and less robotic. Story/plot wise it's going downhill. Almost nothing happened in this book with the exception of yet another huge and annoying cliffhanger.
I wish I had more to say about this book. I like the overall concept but, personally, I think this would have been better off being a duology or even a slightly longer standalone book for each character arc. At this point, I just want to know the ending to Taylor and Leander's story. I don't think I'll continue on in the series after Book #4.
This was enjoyable but I think this series would be better if it wasn’t broken down into smaller pieces. I’m not really a fan of these novella type serial stories. I find it interrupts my flow within the story. Leander does finally get to claim his girl here as his feral finally gets his way. But I am finding Taylor a little bit too naive now she’s pleasant enough just a bit meh at times.
This progresses the story further and again ended on a cliffhanger finish. The next instalment is already out so that’s good and I believe it’s the final one in Leander and Taylor’s journey together. This is an enjoyable story but be aware this is very instalove the conflict is within the storyline rather than the relationship.
This series is so adicting and entertaining I literally cannot stop reading it! I know it's not without its flaws, but the story is truly so much fun (like the unicorn scene omg, I could't stop laughing😂) I'm already higly anticipating the next book, and I'm excited to see where the story goes next!
Captured by the Vundi, Taylor & Leander persuade their kidnappers to meet with their council of elders and Chief Priestess to negotiate a better deal than the one the king beyond the mountain has offered.
Negotiating a mutually beneficial trade deal, Taylor & Leander are allowed to leave with their guards though the journey to the Winter Lands is far from over.

This is the third installment in the "Fae's Captive" serial series. It cannot be read as a stand alone so you should have read the previous installments to be able to follow this one, and, all installments do end with cliffhangers. Serial series cost breakdown on Amaon: 1. Fae's Captive: 100 pages/$0.99 2. Road to Winter 94 pages/$2.99 3. Bite of Winter 125 pages/$2.99 4. Beyond the Mountain 100 pages/$2.99 and more installments pending
This is becoming more and more bizarre. I was ok with the red dust storm of wind wights (malevolent spirits that feed off the blood and bones of those caught in the storm), and the shape shifting smokey blue dark magic being was ok, a gryphon is always a welcome character, not sure about the arbuscules, but the unicorn scene was the 'jump the shark' moment for me.
The other thing is there is a lot of tease and tickle scenes going on between Leander & Taylor though to be fair he keeps getting c*ck blocked. For those on a need to know basis, that means the two have not sealed the deal so don't expect any graphic adult content scenes.
There was just too much going on (and new open ended subplots introduced) to finally make me decide that I won't be continuing with the serial series..... Unicorns just don't act that way in my book.
I am obsessed with this series. Binge reading each book as soon as it releases. Fantastic PNR/Fantasy story telling packed with action, humour, heat and witty dialogue. Cannot wait for book 4. Definitely recommend.
Bite of Winter by Lily Archer is book Three in the Fae's Captive Series. This continues the story of Taylor and Leander, so you should read the previous books 'Fae's Captive' and 'Road To Winter' to fully enjoy this one. This book picks up where we left off in the last one. Where Taylor and Leander where just coming to terms with each other but now they have been pulled apart. This series is several quick read that continue their story and makes you want more from them.
3.5 stars Grrrr....I.HATE.THESE.CLIFFHANGERS! Finally Taylor and Leander get together only to be torn apart. WTH! Now I must suffer with wonder until April 18th. Have to be honest I'm invested in this series.
This book was a kickass addition to the series. There was nothing I didn't like, except the backstabbing of course. My favorite part?...Unicorns🤣🤣🙌🙌🙌 I can't wait for the final book.
Oh wow! What a good series! I can't wait to read book 4!
Note: each book ends on a cliffy, so you might want to wait till the series is complete. Book 4, per Amazon, will released on April 18. This series is also available on KU.
Bruh, I was pumped for answers but not only did I get some, I got a ton more questions and another ending to wreck my whole soul. I didn’t see any of that coming and I feel personally attacked here my dudes. I’m all tense and I have to finish this tonight now there is no other option.
This DIDN'T NEED TO BE 4 mini books that come together to form one super book very annoyed reader!
With more development it could have been a beautiful two book combo or 1½ books at the least. This? This is fucking stupid. And it will become more so if the author continues like this since there are going to be stories for the side characters as well.
Now, with this out of the way ley me continue vehemently with the rest of the book.
• Repeat Repeat Repeat: Leander, you annoying brunette senile Barbie. Stop. Repeating. Just stop. We get it! Honestly I got so fucking annoyed by him most of all. He and his repeating overshadowed everything else.
• I like Taylor, although she has her issues. She is a good character, she just needs a teeny bit more development and the rest of the book (environment, plot, characters etc) need to step up to make her shine.
• Nothing really happened here plot wise. Like no plot.
• Hello cliché my old friend. Oh Cringe, you're here too. The gang is all here then, let's party! #nope
Awaiting Leander's & Taylor's end in Bk #4 and I sincerely hope that all these issues won't follow in the next books.
And here we are. Sabina Espinet-Todd told me the wait would be worth it when I FINALLY got to the steamy mating of Leander and Taylor. (I couldn’t believe it took 3 books. I mean, when Sabina fist recommended this series to me, I resisted because the covers just look like porn...but she insisted these books soar above the literary genre and I should ignore the covers.” Her taste is impeccable; so I trusted her.) Anywho....once again I just don’t have the right words; so I will rely on quoting Sabina - “Lisa....the mating......rowr rowr!” “Taylor really emerges in this book as the queen she is.” “I wish I could be like Taylor.” “John is totally my Leander. I’m so lucky.” “Lisa! Stop questioning and just read the damn books already! You won’t be sorry!”
This series has totally captivated me. I am all for these characters and I absolutely love it! I can't really get into details about the book because they're super spoilery. But just know, that I love this series and I was super sad to find out that book four is the final book about Leander and Taylor. The final 4 books are about Gareth and Beth. Who I love, but meh. I am loving these two MCs right now and I'm not ready to give them up! ):
I wish I could give half stars because I'm not quite ready to hand out a four star for these, but this one was better than the first two. I'm really liking the world building and tensions (though I don't get them), and I like all the characters.
I don't know how this is going to come together, and I still have so many questions that are so far unanswered, and I still don't love these mid battle endings.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Bite of Winter was an okay book but I hate the whole kidnapping thing. It seems to be a trend within this series and I'm hoping that Taylor actually gets better and I don't know - fights back? Who knows. Besides that, this book was actually interesting and I hate all the teasing moments. Just want all the smut and less kidnapping.
It feels weird reviewing this because it feels like a chunk of a single book. I’m enjoying the love story and the feral aspect of a fae around his fated mate. I’m a sucker for MMCs that growl “mine”. This story pushes hard for consent even with a fated mate situation. The end of this book definitely took a turn I wasn’t expecting.
This book picks up right where book 2 leaves off yet again. I'm definitely on the edge of my seat and unable to put these down. Don't mind me I'm off on a binder..again lol. Taylor and her entourage journey across the plains only to be beset by Vundi, a clan that seems to have traded their allegience to the mountain king in order to feed their people. After a scuffle and an approaching storm they head into the Vundi's lair to be met with hostility despite helping them and even treachery and loss. Now in even more of a hurry to get to the winter kingdom and even more beset by his feral side Leander is trying to get them home to deal with the problems and questions arising left and right only to find the summer queen has betrayed them and is after his mate and the Vundi sworn to protect Taylor has betrayed them all.
What is this cliffhanger at the end hmmmm.. I thought we were doing the leave off mid story thing.. throwing me off! ONWARD!
Wow, what a ride! Bite of Winter by Lily Archer is the third installment in her Fae's Captive serial. Bite of Winter is not a standalone. You must read the books in order. The previous books are Fae's Captive and Road to Winter. The story picks up where the previous book was left off. Leander and Taylor are in a standoff with the Vundis. To avoid a bloodbath, Taylor agrees to go with them. She develops more powers and it seems she's the owner of powerful magic herself. After reading the previous two novellas I couldn't wait to get my hands on this third installment and I loved the story and connected with the characters. I was on the edge of my seat while reading and now I readlly can't wait to get my hands on the next book, Beyond the Mountain. I need to know what happens next.
I am a 65 yr old woman & you have made my sexual (sleeping) side of me wake.... Wide awake! Your story telling has me reading each book with one sitting. I have never read another book with such furious desire to see what happens next as I have with Fae's Captive. I am absolutely in love with the characters! You go Girl! And keep writing!!!
I am beginning to get a little bored with this series which is why it has taken me this long to write up this review. I still like how Taylor is so innocent and willing to help anyone around her. She doesnt see the evil in people but gives them a chance. I wish that things between her and Leander would have been a little bit better developed. I think that if these books were in one bigger book it would have been better for me. I am excited to see how the next love story takes place. If they are mates for example, wouldnt they have felt it already?
This was the juiciest of them all so far. Books MUST be read in order, by the way. This one was the most romantic and still the plot thickened and progressed.
I think if this series had been one long book it would have made it a vastly popular success. .
The part with the unicorn was funny and overall I like where the story goes. Again book 1 to 4 could have been just one book in total. I don’t know why the author decided to split up the story in four different books but I don’t mind, cause all books have been released already and I don’t have to live with the cliffhangers.
This book picks up right where the last one left off- with our party fighting for their lives against the Vundi warriors. We get to find out more about this insular society, meet some new characters, get a bit more information on the prophecy, and continue on the journey to the winter realm.
So .....the bad: I am so glad the mating bond has been cemented and done- not because I particularly wanted them to get together, but because hopefully now Leander will stop being a pushy, manipulative horn dog with 'need to claim' being the only thing on his brain.
When he said he had to bathe with her for her ‘safety’ I legit rolled my eyes- and said he wouldn't push her to do anything- then 2 mins later he's all over her.
I get their mates, but it was just like he was trying to keep going until her no turned into a yes. She wasn't ready then, and I wonder what would have happened if she still wasn't ready when the feral turned up in the winter realm? Might have liked it better if she went to him, and maybe he showed some restraint even in feral form. Don't know why it bugs me so much, just does.
Again same with the last book- the romance... eh- I'm more interested in where the story is going and all of the mysteries left to be unraveled.
Edit: oh totally forgot about that unicorn part! Even though Leander ferals out at every male that even looks at Taylor too long why would be let her...this sounds so weird.. stroke the unicorns horn until he's hard? To teach her a lesson? Um what?
