If you love trees. If the scent of the soil means something to you. If you have seen a butterfly and wondered--what message do you have for me today? If you seek inspiration and meaning in your life--and often find it in nature...
Then this is the book for you.
Arranged in 4 seeds, soils, vines, skies; “organic” is an immersive sensory experience you’ll not soon forget. And even if you’ve never read a poem in your life...these poems will touch your heart!
I think there are more layers to Christina's poetry than I could possibly understand. But for those that I do fathom, I find a mixture of worlds and emotions that invite me in. I enter a moment where I am drawn to feel another heart. I live where I could cry and scream and fly. I am no longer reading; I am having a glimpse of another person's soul.
I have never really considered myself a fan of poetry, mostly because my exposure to it was limited to what I considered boring and ancient writers using dead words I did not understand or the syruppy 'every-other-line' rhyming lyrical drivel. But lately I have found interesting and compelling words crafted by masters unknown to me that grip my attention and coax me in to read, understand, absorb, and let settle into my soul. I discovered Christina by accident on a social website and after hearing about her line of work, decided to check out her first book. And am I happy I did!
This book is short and is a very easy read. I was tempted to zip through it like a novel, but each of the works made me slow down and savor the words, the sentences, and stanzas. They are crafted in such a way that you WANT to let them in slowly and deliberately so they play in your mind, invoking images and feelings that are unexpected. For me, when the "meaning" of the work struck me, I was riveted. Never before have words had such an impact on me, and I have no problem recommending this book to anyone who likes to be pleasantly affected like I was. Bravo, Christina!
Christina's work isn't unknown to me as we work together on running a poetry group and reading each other since a long time on Medium, and otherwise. Though organic is a much organized version of her work, usage of words, creating exceptional imagery and keeping the reader hooked till the end is what she masters. My favourites from this collection would be the last poem - God and Birds, Invidia, Cockroach in bathwater in addition to the world without butterflies and birds. Lovely work, POM head, read this collection back to back. Keep it up. God Bless you. ❤️
Beautiful imagery that hugs you like a warm blanket on a snowy day - it's a perfect feeling, but also bittersweet as you know the moment is but a drop in time. This tension between beauty and nostalgic longing is just the tip of the artistry that Christina brings to her poetic works.
