Rax Rax, fugitive with a stolen weaponized vest, was stranded on Earth and recruited by Copra. In exchange, they helped him return to his dimension. His sentence: death.
Michel Fiffe is the creator of the action series COPRA, published by Bergen Street Press, and the intimately surreal Zegas, collected by Fantagraphics. He's worked with Marvel, Valiant, and BOOM! and continues to serialize COPRA when he's not writing massive essays on comics of note. Fiffe has produced Bloodstrike: Brutalists (Image Comics) and G.I. Joe: Sierra Muerte (IDW) in their entirety and has recently launched a new title, Negativeland.
One of the best issues of Copra easily. I love prison stories, and Fiffe nails the tropes well here. This issue focuses on interdimensional fugitive Rax who uses a stolen weapons vest during his time working for Copra. He has since been returned to his home dimension where he is promptly incarcerated and sentenced to death. Fiffe stringently adheres to a nine panel grid throughout, which he clarifies in the afterword is an homage to Steve Ditko, and particularly to Ditko's work on the initial Shade, the Changing Man series.
