Adulting Not Allowed #1

Scalding Hot Chocolate

Rate this book
Adulting should be illegal.
I’m a woman who adores childish things. I prefer being called Maddie over Madison. I like frilly dresses, and tickle fights, and hot chocolate, and coloring, and swing sets. I avoid adulting like I do broccoli, and my therapist says that’s okay. We all have our hobbies. I think my therapist is full of it, but he hasn’t steered me wrong yet. At least I don’t think he has. So, what am I supposed to do when tragedy hits my family once again and I’m left with twins?

Well, I adapt. If I have anything good going for me, it’s that I’m a river, ever-flowing. Plus, rivers have waterfalls and rainbows. I like waterfalls and rainbows. But now I need to adult fast because having two tiny things relying on me is hard. I have to be—dare I say it—responsible. Ick. I hate that word.

Just when I think I’m getting a routine down with my adorable twins, I’m faced with new problems. My stepmonster is out to get me again. She likes to think she can prove a point, but I’m older now. I won’t let her stomp on me anymore. She better prepare for a fight.

And apparently, I have three men on my side. They’re willing to prove they’ll help me. I’ll believe them the day I finally see the elusive unicorn. But they’re there and I can’t stop blabbering like an idiot long enough to tell them to go away.

Don’t worry. I got this. I think.

This book will kick you in the stomach with all the emotions going on. It is wonderfully written and does portray what some people may go through in real life. I love how Maddie's character is written. She is an adult who loves life and yes may act like a child sometimes but what adult doesn't. However, Maddie life was changed one night and now she is raising her sisters twin boys. Maddie has worked hard for where she is at in life and she has put on her big girl panties and had woman up to take on her responsibilities to be the guardian of the boys. Oh and she has meet some really hot guys who just happens to be there for her when she least expects it. There is attraction there, but the question is will anything grow from that. Unfortunately there is some evil brewing. Now, we will start to see what she is made of. Can she remain the guardians or will that fall to someone else? I cannot wait to see what happens next. Obviously there is a cliffy...

A book I would recommend!

This is the second series I’ve read from this author. She didn’t disappoint! I loved the main character. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is bc as much as I loved the MC there were a few times I didn’t. It made it difficult to read and turned me off from the book, but those scenes were short and I kept reading and overall I did really enjoy this book. My issue was (as much as I loved the character) it just got to where she was too childish and I was just like what am I reading. And one of the men characters I’m not really vining with but *shrug*. If you’re debating on this book just read it!

A really great read!

I really didn’t know what to think of this book so I started with a sample but I should have known better because Jaliza her writing took me in right away and I had to buy this book to keep reading.
I first thought that the main character Maddie would be a real child in a grown up body but that wasn’t the case, she just likes different things and has a different way of doing some stuff but I liked that about her. The man I like (off course) but in this book I really fell for Maddie and I can’t wait for the end of March to know how this story continues!

Maddie’s about the simple and fun things in life. She likes glitter, stars and tulle skirts and she’s content with life that way but one night when he sister dies Maddie finds her life shift drastically. Suddenly she’s looking after her sisters twins.

Life isn’t just about maddie anymore, but she’ll do anything to keep the little men in her life happy.

This book will slap you in the face with emotion. While it stays fun and light with Maddie’s personality it also deals with some real life issues everyone can relate to! Overall a really fun and cute read!

Maddie is a loveable, slightly neurotic, fun, resilient woman. While she is silly at times, it is also very caring and I love how she interacts with the twins. This is a slow burn RH series, and while there is some romance, this book has more tension than steaminess. Dayton, Koen, and Bryce are amazing with the twins and I love how they handle Maddie’s freak outs.i can’t wait for the next book in this series :)

Take your time enjoying Hot Chocolate

I enjoyed this book. I just finished Jaliza's BioMystic series and realized that I had preordered this one as well. We get to meet Maddie and her twins, their little world in Boston. Life gets complicated, but luckily she meets three guys who want to help her out and keep her and the twins safe.
This book leaves you ready for the next in series! I am looking forward to seeing how things unfold.

Amazing

Maddie will have you rooting for her from the very beginning. At first I thought this book was going to be a little silly but I love the author's writing and decided to give it a chance. This book had soooo many feels! It's so heartwarming and you're right there with Maddie fighting. Plus two adorable 6 year old boys. Who can resist?! I am so looking forward to the next one!

This should be a one-click story

Maddie reminds me so much of myself, it's scary! I feel like a child playing at adulthood all the time. Her fashion gives me life, and that she has three men capable of helping in her time of need is awesome. Waiting on tenderhooks for book number 2!!

Absolutely amazing

This was a great book. Made me tear up and filled me with love. I love Maddie. She’s so very unique. When we grow up we all feel like we have to act a certain way. I love that she’s childish and fun but can be very much the adult. She struggles and try’s her best and she’s amazing. And the twins? Absolutely adorable, you can’t just not fall in love with them little boys. And the men? Yessss please.
