பழனி முருகனின் சிலை, நவ பாஷாணங்களால் செய்யப்பட்ட சிலையாகும். அதை உருவாக்க போகர் ஏன் நவ பாஷாணங்களை (விஷத்தை) தேர்வு செய்தார், எவ்வாறு மற்றும் ஏன் அச்சிலையை செய்தார் என்பது 'அன்று' என்று பெயரிட்டு ஒரு track-ஆக செல்கிறது. Parallelly, தற்காலத்தில் ஒரு மர்மப் பெட்டியும் கத்தியும் கதாநாயகியான பாரதி என்ற பத்திரிக்கை ஆசிரியை ஒரு கலைப்பொருளாக வாங்கி வைத்திட அதோடு நிகழும் அமானுஷ்ய அனுபவங்களை அவள் எவ்வாறு கையாளுகிறாள் என்பது 'இன்று' என்ற பகுதியில் செல்கிறது. இவ்விரண்டு கதையும் இறுதியில் ஒரு புள்ளியில் சந்தித்து நிறைவடைகிறது. இந்திரா சௌந்தர்ராஜன் அந்த கத்திக்கு இறுதியில் என்ன ஆனது என சொல்லாமலே முடித்துவிட்டார். பல இடங்களை வாசிக்கையில் 'சு. வெங்கடேசன் என்ன அப்படி எழுதிவிட்டார்? நான் எழுதுகிறேன் பாரைய்யா' என்று போட்டிப் போட்டு எழுதினது போல உணர்ந்தேன்.

The plot moves in two different time lines - one depicting the massive efforts taken by siddhar Bogar to make the Navapasana idol (idol made out of nine different type of poison to make the most beneficial for devotees) of Lord Murugan at Palani, this part of the plot is very good with lot of useful information.

The other part of the plot moves in the current timeline with the protagonist being a strong rationalist while the things happening around her seems to be supernatural and her struggle to cope with this scenario. The protagonist viewpoint seems to be a drag in several occasions and does not fit in the overall scheme of things, the boundary between supernatural things and the reality is somewhat blurred in several points. Otherwise, it is a very good, useful read.

Classic Indra Soundarajan way of narration - அன்று, இன்று. Two parallel stories and they meet up or merge in the climax. I personally felt this was excellent in Rudraveenai - Both stories has relevant happenings in different timelines, somehow that was not on point in this novel. The main protagonist represents the present era point of views of myth, Siddhar concepts etc., though I personally felt it was too dragging and unnatural. For such a strong character who is against all those mystic forces, the sudden change towards the end seems so abrupt and her meeting with the Master Siddhar was so blunt and short, like in just two paragraphs her whole point of view changes! What happens to the Sword is left hanging there. The death of Josiyar, Banu's end were all abrupt.

Definitely a good attempt at explaining the history and mystery behind the Palani statue. But the biggest drawback was that the plot had too much theory! The theory was so vague that it dissipated a reader's attention over and over again.

Yet another fall was the protagonist. She's supposed to be inquisitive but comes off as a plain nuisance!

There was no twist or unexpected turn of events and the plot was just adequate to keep the reader going.
A plain plot with much theory is definitely a buzz kill for me. Sadly, there's not one thing that would stay with me memorably from this book.

Great book with many informations which is essential for life. This book teach us from the basics to extreme situations of life.

I’ve completed reading Part 1.

The story line from the age of siddhars feels a bit draggy; akin to reading the advise of Lord Krishna to Arjuna. It has a lot of details and revelations on why things are designed in a particular way in the world.

The story line in the current timeline is very interesting and gripping - typical Indira Sounderrajan style narration.

Overall it is enlightening esp. the historical section of the story; albeit being a tad slow paced.

Now I have completed the 2nd part - very gripping and one cannot put it down. My only issue is Bharathi’s change in mind towards the climax was quite sudden; author must have shown some gradation in her change of attitude. Or added more richness to the writing on the final Siddhar meet up.

Overall a very good gripping read with lots of good values to learn and follow on Hinduism / way-of-life.
