#AREYOUHEREYET?: How to STFU and Show Up For Yourself

Rate this book
# How To STFU and Show Up For Yourself is the sequel to Dr. Ortega’s debut self-help book, # Being the Person You Want to Be With . It follows Dr. Ortega’s signature raw, humorous, and compelling style as he continues examining the perceived epidemic of being single in our universal quest for love. When a person is committed to doing all the work to improve themselves by being “The One” (and thereby improve their love life), what happens when nothing seems to happen afterward? Through witty, thought-provoking writing, sassy #OMG Moments, case studies, and “Tea Time with Tony” (end-of-chapter exercises for the reader), Dr. Ortega helps readers explore the personal blocks and self-limiting beliefs that keep them stuck. It’s a second chance at not only improving, but falling in love with, themselves. It provides essential “what next?” support in a sea of self-help books focused on the start of the journey.

How To STFU and Show Up For Yourself is a witty, insightful and intelligently humorous book in the style that Dr Ortega does best with his personal flair of refreshing honesty, passion and enlightening advise.

Dr. Ortega allows the reader to be hilariously entertained by his own raw personal experiences while giving you the tools to overcome your own obstacles, self awareness and limiting belief systems.
This is great story telling with a dash of guidance, self help, case studies, Tea, and a dash of sass, served up how only Tony can serve.
If you loved his first book #ishere hereyet, then this book is a great addition. If you haven't, then grab both, make a cup of tea and be prepared for a fun filled journey!

A definite MUST read!

This book is an amazing insightful, thoughtful and sometimes downright hilarious journey into what make you ...well you. Dr. Ortega has managed to incorporate both pop culture and self care into one package seamlessly. A book that will have you look at yourself in a new way and say am I the best I can be ? He gives you the tools necessary to continue personal growth as well as master your inner you and teach you to stand up and be heard without making others deaf. I loved his first book #ishere hereyet and loved that. This book however beaks all the molds you think a book like this should have. Show up today and seize your moment.

In this very candid and raw book, Tony Ortega takes you on a journey of self discovery, and it isn’t always pleasant. This book is like knowing you have a pimple you need to pop and it’s what does it for you.

Tony shatters the illusions that you have been carrying about yourself and gives you the Batman moments (Utility Belt Strategies) to help you best down your inner joker and become your own super hero. I think the thing I love most about this book is how transparent Tony is about his own struggles. I love Tony so much, and to see him share the hardest parts of his spiritual journey is so powerful. This isn’t a “fluffy bunny and unicorn” book, it’s a slap in the face and a wake up call to truly live the life you are called to live. It shines a light on toxic spirituality and the cult like mentality it can inspire.

I know first hand how damaging these groups can be and I want you to know that if you feel aren’t “getting” what you think you need from the modern spirituality that is being shoved down your throat (and not in a good way) give this book a shot. It will change everything. That’s a promise.

The exact book you will need for this present. In a world of millions of Self Help programs and coaches who are looking to make a quick buck , this book explains how most of Coaches are not here to help you rather to fill their own pockets. If you are planning to hire a coach, read an book from an pop star coach or spend money an expensive program, stop it right now and read this book first . Dr.Ortega explains clearly what you need to be successful (ie ) show up for yourself .He explains the forgotten values. I love the OMG moments. Tea time with Tony is an nice addition. The steps are very clear and precise. Bonus chapter with Betty is truly a bonus and a gift. Through out the book Dr. Ortega has kept it very authentic, lots of humour and he makes sure everyone gets the message. The best thing you can do is show up for yourself. This book will guide you how you can be very happy and content in despite of the outside noise in the world. Great work by Dr.Tony Ortega.

Such a refreshing departure from the "look at me!" spirituality/self-help guides out there. Dr. Tony Ortega gets real about living your most authentic life, without all the sparkly insta-worthy shininess of other self-help books. The book delves into the importance of mindfulness - in your relationships and self-perception, and calls you out on your drama loving self to get you to a place of peace. Dr. Tony takes the focus away from "outcome driven" self-help and helps you see the beauty in the process instead. Also...he's fucking hilarious and the real life anecdotes add a sense of relatability that I've often found is missing with some "spiritual gurus". This book is for anyone who wants to find and love their authentic self, without the pressure of having to fit a paradigm of spiritual "perfection".

A departure from the usual self-help book for sure, Dr. Tony Ortega's #AreYOUHEREYET?: How to STFU and Show Up For Yourself" says it all in the title that you're in for quite an awakening. This book influences you to self-evaluate as you go and offers simple yet useful tactics of overcoming obstacles and doubt. Dr. Ortega's anecdotes also illuminate how a simple alteration in a state of mind can be life-changing, and get your butt moving to be accountable for yourself. Tony may not know you personally, but his personal tone certainly leaves you feeling like he's got your back no matter what your struggle is. A good read to have on hand when you're feeling stuck or down, Dr. Tony Ortega will pick you right up again and encourage you to sparkle on.

I was really impressed by the quality of this book, and I'm really grateful for net galley and the publishers for my advanced copy.
This book did came at the right moment for me. I think it tackles a lot of contemporary issues, especially how to approach your mental health and make it a priority, despite all the external influence.
Dr Ortega gives an insight on how to overcome daily struggles with a lot of humour and sass. Everything about this book is passionate and transparent, in the way that the author shares a lot about his personal experiences and growth.
This was a fun and insightful read. I definitely recommend it

It is a witty, self accountability book. I learned that you want to love youself and that self limiting beliefs cause you the grief you didn't know you had.If you want to care about your mental health, it means that you are making your own mindfulness, emotional, spiritual and physical mental space(s) a priority. You can only show up for you. I like self help and care books so this was a fun read.

So refreshing to read a self-help book that doesn't take a heavy-handed approach. It is genuine and real without any preachiness. The author's experience as a therapist really shines through, and he's able to tackle the reader's goals of personal insight and understanding with light-hearted real talk. I'll be reading it again!

I am gagged at how good this book is. Like Tony, so fed up with the current state of self-help. This is a no holds barred book that really holds a mirror to your face and makes you think about yourself and others in an entirely different light. The quotes are stellar and irreverent. The bonus chapter, "Being Betty White: Extra AF is worth the price of the book alone. Highly recommend.
