Soulwaves: A Future History

Rate this book

Soulwaves is a metaphysical and cosmological adventure across space and time.

If you’ve ever wondered where we are heading, this book explores a possible near-future for humanity, and the Earth.

If you’ve ever wondered where we came from, be prepared to turn your thinking on its head.

If you’ve ever wondered if anyone is pulling your strings, this book will make you think again about chance encounters or serendipities in your life.

If you’ve every suspected you are part of something bigger than you can imagine, this book is for you.

Soulwaves are the missing dark energy and dark matter that cosmologists can’t find. They bond people to people, moons to planets, planets to stars and stars to other stars to form galaxies.

Soulwaves are also integral to the cycle of life and death.

When this book proper begins in 2059, China has become the predominant force on the world stage. You will discover that events on planet Earth, and all other sentient planets, are nano-managed by greater and even more pervasive forces.

I am an author, meditation guide and temporal alchemist. After publishing 15 books non-fiction books, I've just published my 1st novel, Soulwaves which is a potential future history of planet Earth and humanity. I have now written the prequel/sequel to this novel in the form of 12 short stories and tall tales.

I love exploring how the mind works (or doesn't) and reading the esoteric with the aim of making it exoteric.

Currently exploring how to bend time and space, how to tune into future memories and how authors can channel their future self who knows the words they have yet to write (or something like that !!)

Set in the future, this novel recounts how we may be able to save humanity.

This novel is unlike anything I've ever read before and I'm not sure how to process it. Since I was reading for enjoyment, I'll start with my impressions from that perspective.

I found that the scope (traversing the entire lifetime of the main character) as well as the narrator's voice resulted in a tremendous amount of distance from the characters. I wasn't at all emotionally invested in them. I read out of intellectual curiosity. I don't think that's inherently a bad thing, but it definitely meant I didn't experience this novel in the way I prefer or expected.

This did read more like a history textbook in terms of tone and scope. The narrator's voice was detached from the events, and the method of conveying information was very matter-of-fact. I found this drew attention to the scientific advances more so than the human factor. While it held my interest and was a unique approach, it really didn't match what I look for as a reader.

Overall, this wasn't a bad book. It doesn't have the emotional resonance that I find so important.

I received a copy of this novel via Voracious Readers Only.

I received a review copy of Soulwaves by Tom Evans and found it a thought-provoking book. I very much enjoyed the "future history" concept and getting to know the characters. The combination of metaphysical concepts relating to energy, space and time, with science-faction was very compelling. My only criticism is that I felt the presence of the narrator very strongly, which occasionally detracted from my enjoyment of the story. All in all, though, it was an enjoyable read.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review - from Voracious Readers. Audio was an option.

This was a long and interesting audiobook about an alternative future that Earth experiences. I couldn't keep track of everything in the audio edition, but I still really enjoyed it. The book follows a Chinese scientist, born intelligent and with a bright future as told to his parents. It follows his life and the future throughout the years, contrasted against how many years are left before Earth is no longer inhabitable. I liked this contrast and it definitely gave me a sense of excitement in seeing what would happen. Chen eventually meets a woman in Iceland named Freya and the 2 have twins. There are elements of the fantastical, a sign of human evolution in this book, and the scale increases exponentially until the end of the book, which completely came out of nowhere for me. I was having such a good time listening to this book I didn't realise the author was suddenly crediting those who helped him.

I appreciate that he took the time to narrate his own book. The author doesnt do any special voices for the characters and I felt like there were not many dialogue moments, more like "Freya said that the two girls would be alright." or something similar, more reporting dialogue. I think it served the audiobook well as there is only the author's voice. Additionally he has a bit of a whistle when he speaks. It was a little distracting but I didn't notice it until 3/4 through the book.

I really enjoyed this and am reminded somewhat of how I felt reading the 3 body problem. Thanks for the book and I hope to read more from this author someday.

This book is breathtaking in it’s scope. The concepts and ideas are mind blowing both scientifically and spiritually. I find myself hoping for a future like this, or something like it. It makes me feel the way Space Odyssey 2001 did when I was young: excited and hopeful beyond words. I love how much it has made me think and expand my mind.
