I love this book. I normally read on my Kindle but I bought this on paper because I know I will keep coming back to read some passages. Kathy is a wonderful person and a passionate coach who has helped me not only with this book but as a coach. I read and listen to everything she publishes. I totally recommend her and her book. I bought another copy for a friend and I think it will be a present for a few more strong women who deserve more success and happiness in their lives.
Michelle Sutter, Holland America Line Sales VP, recommended this book to my fellow travel advisors in her Masterminds group. I liked the format that Kathy Caprino has for each of the Finding Brave paths. My wife Tracy has found her Brave as an electrical engineer working in male dominated semiconductor industry. We have explored many of the internal questions and discussed the external actions. As a teacher at an all girls high school I have heard the negative self talk. As a new member of BNI I have seen the benefits to improving yourself with support of a chapter of mentors and sponsors.
This is an excellent book for the female who's feeling stuck in a rut...whether it be in her personal or professional life.
Using all the amazing introspective quizzes (e.g. career assessment) and action-oriented steps, she'll figure out what's blocking her. And become ready to take steps to change her life.
It starts with bravery.
There are so many of us in a quarter-life or mid-life crisis, and we just need to sort out the past to move forward. Then there's the fabulous empty nester or corporate gal who's ready to retire and start something new. Maybe something more rewarding on her own.
This book covers all the seven damaging things (power gaps) that are holding us back:
--Not recognizing special talents --Communicating from fear --Not asking for what we deserve --Isolating from influential support --Saying yes instead of no --Losing site of our dream --Allowing past trauma to define us
I recommend this short, easy-to-read book and to follow the advice and workbook-like questions within it if you want to become The Most Powerful You.
Many thanks to Harper Collins Leadership, via Netgalley, for an electronic copy of this book in exchange for my review.
Both women and men will benefit a great deal from this book, as well as leaders who want to make a greater positive impact. The 7 power gaps that the book shares are not only what I see many of female leaders, students and others I work with are experiencing that are blocking their success, but also among professional men as well. In fact, there are several gaps that I'm experiencing that from this book I understand more clearly how to tackle and address to create more of the impact I'm hoping for. Highly recommended!
The Most Powerful You is meant to help women conquer the 7 destructive power gaps within the workforce. There are many great stories of women that overcome tragedies, disrespect and such. These stories were great to see the outcome for these woman. The 7 principles were easily listed but for me I felt there was more emphasis on the stories and not as much on the 7 principles. This is just my opinion and didn't work for the way I learn. However I feel this is a well written book that could be a great read for many women.
We all want to live "a beautiful, abundant, and impactful life and career that will make your heart sing, and help uplift others in the process." But how to do this? Caprino's brilliant, welcoming prose tell us how. I can't say enough about this book. It's beautifully written, fun, authentic, moving, and easy to read while at the same time highly edifying. BRAVO!
If you haven’t climbed the corporate ladder yet, or you are still struggling to move on from the beginning levels, or you don’t hold any powerful position, this book is not for you. All examples are from women who already made it, but don’t feel it. Are you already an Executive, high level manager or such, this book may help. No my case or the case of many women I know.
An interesting and informative read for anyone feeling stuck in a rut in their career or current job. Some thought provoking and doable suggestions.⭐⭐⭐ #kathycaprino #themostpowerfulyou #tea_sipping_bookworm #goodreads #tea_sipping_bookworm #litsy #thestorygraph #amazonkindle #bookqueen #bookstagram
If you’re a woman in the workplace, you probably experience at least one of the “power gaps” described in this book. Reading this book is like having an energizing conversation with a trusted advisor. You’ll walk away emboldened to make positive change.
This was an amazing book. Recommend for any woman regardless of her position in life. It has something in every chapter. Just when you think that this chapter won't apply to me, there is a window that opens and you are able to relate and take away some information.
This book offers some great prompts to help anyone but especially women uncover how to reach a more powerful and authentic version of themselves. I can’t remember where it was referred but I’m glad I picked it up. Will definitely have to reread again to go through the prompts more intentionally!
I was looking forward to reading this book as the idea of a most powerful version of myself was definitely appealing and I think there are some useful lessons within the book. For me this book is aimed more at those women who are working within the corporate world. Many of the case studies within it focus on women who are looking to find success and the methods Kathy uses helps them to identify where the weakness, or development area is and then the tools to move forward.
I am self employed and run my own business and was looking for something that would help me to develop my personal strength and improve my success within the business. I found that many of the people in the book seemed to be employed by large conglomerates and therefore I struggled to relate to the situations and interpret how the methods could work for me.
This book works using case studies to illustrate the methods used so if you prefer a book which with give you a list of actions and activities to do then this might not work for you. It is easy to read and the case studies are interesting and help to highlight the many challenges within the work environment. If I was still working for a large corporation I think this would have had a bigger impact on me.
