நிர்மல் நிர்மல் தூத்துக்குடி மாவட்டம் ஏரல் எனும் ஊருக்கு அருகில் இருக்கும் திருவழுதிவிளை எனும் கிராமத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவர். வாசிப்பு, இசை, விளையாட்டு, அறிவியல், அரசியல் மற்றும் பறை வாசித்தலில் ஈடுபாடு கொண்டவர். வேதியல் பட்டதாரியான இவர், தற்பொழுது கத்தார் தேசத்தில் பெட்ரோகெமிக்கல் துறையில் வேலை செய்து வருகிறார். தொழிற்சாலை பாதுகாப்பு மற்றும் சுற்றுச்சூழல் குறித்த மேற்படிப்பையும் முடித்தவர்.

அனைவராலும் அவசியம் வாசிக்கப்பட வேண்டிய, உபயோகமான புத்தகம். மிக முக்கியமாக மாணவர்களும் இளைஞர்களும் வாசிக்க வேண்டிய புத்தகம். தாராளமாக அவர்களுக்குப் பரிந்துரைக்கலாம்.

தற்போதைய வகுப்புவாத, பிரிவினைவாத, வலதுசாரி அரசியல் சூழலில் இந்தப் புத்தகம் மிகவும் அவசியமானதாகிறது. பலவேறு நாடுகளில் ஏற்பட்ட உள்நாட்டுப் பிரிவினைகள் மற்றும் அரசியல் வரலாற்று நிகழ்வுகள் மூலமாக இந்தியர்களாக நாம் கற்றுக்கொள்ள வேண்டியவைகளை இப்புத்தகம் வழியாக நிர்மல் உணர்த்துகிறார்.

பள்ளிப்பருவத்தில் சமூக அறிவியலில் நாம் உலக வரைபடத்தில் உள்ள நாடுகளும், அதன் தலைநகரங்களும் மட்டுமே படித்திருப்போம். ஆனால் ஒரு நாடு எப்படி உருவாகிறது, எப்படி அழிகிறது, வளர்ச்சியும் வீழ்ச்சியும் எப்படி நிகழ்கிறது என்பதை நாம் கற்றுக்கொள்ளவில்லை. இனம், மதம், அரசியல், பொருளாதாரம், கலை, கலாச்சாரம் அனைத்தும் ஒரு தேசம் உருவாகவும் அழியவும் முக்கிய காரணிகள் எனலாம்.

இந்த புத்தகத்தில் எனக்கு ஜெர்மனி, சோவியத் யூனியன் தவிர மற்ற நாடுகளின் வரலாறு எனக்கு புதியது.

கூட்டாட்சியை அடிநாதமாக கொண்ட ஸ்விட்சர்லாந்து, 7 காண்டோன் (Conton) கொண்ட நாடு. காண்டோன் என்பது சுவிஸ் கூட்டாட்சியை உருவாக்கும் 26 கூட்டாட்சி மாநிலங்களில் ஒன்றை குறிக்கிறது. ஒவ்வொரு மாநிலமும் தன் சொந்த அரசியலமைப்பை, சட்டமன்றத்தை மற்றும் நீதித்துறையை கொண்டுள்ளது.

யுகஸ்லோவியா எனும் நாடு பல இன, மொழி குடும்பங்களை கொண்டது. சேர்பியர்களுக்குள்ளே இருந்த பிரிவினை வாதம், தேசியவாதம், பொருளாதார நெருக்கடி என்று வீழ்ச்சியடைந்ததற்கான பல காரணங்கள் இருந்தன.

சோமாலியா, கொசாவா, செகோஸ்லோவியா, எஸ்தோனியா என்று ஒவ்வொரு தேசத்திற்கும் ஒவ்வொரு இருந்த வரலாறு உள்ளது. தரமான புத்தகம். தவறவிடாதீர்கள்.

What makes and breaks a nation? , இந்த கேள்விக்கு பதில் கிடைத்திருக்கிறது என நம்புகிறேன். நாம் அனைவரும் புரிந்து கற்றுக் கொள்ள வேண்டிய விடயங்களை உணர்த்துகிறது இந்த நூல். சமீபத்தில் இந்தியா & இலங்கை போன்ற நாடுகளில் நடைபெற்ற/ நடைபெறும் ஒரு சில நிகழ்வுகளையும் உதாரணமாக விளக்கிச் சென்றதும் அருமை.

நூல் ஆசிரியரிடம் இதன் தொடர்ச்சி நூல்களை எதிர்பார்கிறேன்..

Nations don't fail overnight. The seeds of of their destruction are sown deep within their political institutions.

This book Kaanamal Pona Desangal by Nirmal deals with nations which have failed and about two nations which have risen wonderfully.

Most countries that fall apart, however, do so not with a bang but with a whimper. They fail not in an explosion of war and violence but by being utterly unable to take advantage of their society’s huge potential for growth, condemning their citizens to a lifetime of poverty.

The author describes this so well in this book.The flow of the book is too good that one could finish reading it in go.The choise of nation and the story of these nations makes the readers awestruck.The comparisons done throught the article by the author about the present situation of our country with those fallen nations gives a warning signal to us, to wake up and arise.

The list of reference book at the end shows the hardwork the author has put to bring up this amazing book.This is a must read book for school going children, those who love history and even for the politicians.

I strongly recommend this book for everyone....a must read book ....and a book to be preserved...
