Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for granting me an ARC of this book. The review below is entirely my own opinion.
Not what I was really expecting; although, I loved the idea of having a trait (e.g. A for Adventurous, C is for Considerate) and having a Bible story and Bible verse correlating to the positive character trait.
I really thought this was going to be a prayer book, with a prayer for my little boy to say whenever he was thankful, sad, scared, worried, or confused. I thought it was going to be something along the lines of "Dear Lord, I am scared. I need your help. Please teach me how to be brave and wise." It's not. :-(
I think the title is a little misleading because of the word "devotions" which usually means "prayers".

4.5 stars!
I would definitely give this to a young boy. My son is 4 and I think it is an okay for him to listen along as I read. I think this book would best be for a little boy who can read On his own or mostly on his own. Elementary aged boy.
I like how it shows a each letter of the alphabet and then talks about (example) B is GOD wanting you to be a brave boy and then goes into a few brief paragraphs.

I have read most (if not all) of Matt Koceich's Imagine... and Who Was... series books and have enjoyed them tremendously. Now I'm introduced to his devotion books for young readers and I love these as well.
A to Z Devotions for Brave Boys is a colorful, fun, inspirational book for primary school aged boys, taking them on an adventure through the alphabet with each letter representing a positive character trait. This journey is sure to inspire them to become the brave boys God created them to be!
I love the way the book is set up. Each letter/trait contains a colorful illustration, a single-page devotion, a 'think about it' section, and a Scripture verse. The artwork is visually stimulating, and the devotions are encouraging, character building, and easy to understand.

This book, A TO Z DEVOTIONS FOR BRAVE BOYS, filled with so many good things, is a wonderful way to help adventurous boys to be bold and brave. It would also make a wonderful gift for any boy.
As he takes his first steps toward new adventures, like at school, or even at home, God will help him to be courageous and bold at whatever the task. Each letter of the alphabet helps to spell out words for him to use in a courageous and bold way. Like the word considerate. To be considerate of others. When Jesus died on that cross, He thought of everyone on this whole Earth. That made Him very considerate of everyone. He wanted to make everyone feel loved and cared for by doing that. And, that very thought should make you feel good inside to know that Jesus loved you. Loved all of us that much.
Bold and brave men and what they accomplished, like, Noah, Moses, David, Paul, and Nehemiah, just to name a few are mentioned in this amazing book. If they can accomplish those things through the help of God, just think what boys may be able to do now. They can be heroes just like those men in the Bible were.

This was a sweet devotion book with a really cute concept of featuring a characteristic/theme for every letter of the alphabet. I believe that the devotions would work well for maybe age 4 and up. Younger kids may need you to explain a bit more for some concepts (I did this with my 6 year old), and older kids may need you to elaborate and put a little bit more into the "think about it" section to provoke more thoughtful conversation. If your child is ready for a bit more depth, your family could also dive into the scripture from each section more thoroughly. The layout and illustrations in the book are really great.

Its a precisely, colorfull, fun, thought full devotional for small boys. It helps kids to learn each time a positive character trait that as christians we need to develop. I love the facts that encourage each day the boys to self reflect about a specific charater trait. Also the facts don't have a specific prayer for each character. This alows the boys to use their own words to pray for what they just reflected on. As mom of 3 boys i will go through this devotional ones or twice a week focusing in how we as a family can develop these character traits, praying together and putting in practice what we are learning.

A to Z Devotions for Brave Boys is a short read, but packed with good things! Character traits for each letter of the alphabet are discussed, followed by a challenge of how can you do that, and a verse.
I like what they did with Q. Quiet and boys don’t seem to go together. But they don’t expect boys to be always quiet. Just find times to be quiet before the Lord. And Young, for Y? But it’s a young attitude that’s not hardened into ‘my way’ but full of energy and willingness to serve God.

I have two boys and they loved this book. I was able to just relax and read these to them every day for about a week. There are more devotionals for more days, but I wanted to take time and review it before it got too much later.
I really appreciate the biblical approach they took to each devotional and it was very touching and we were able to have lots of conversations about God and His character and how to be better people.
I will definitely suggest this devotional to my friends.

I read and loved 100 Adventurous Stories for Brave Boys so of course I was so excited to also receive A to Z Devotions for Brave Boys! I am happy to report that I loved this one as well. I am the mother of two boys (5 and 3) and they would both really like this one a lot. I appreciate the clear focus on reliance on God, not ourselves, to be "brave." I would definitely purchase this for my son's and other little boys I know!

Liked: It is a Biblical devotion to encourage boys to be bold and brave in their faith.
Disliked: This book was both condescending to my 9-year-old in the pictures and verbiage and too thoughtful for my 5-year-old.

My 3 yo is a bit young for this yet, but I look forward to sharing it with him when he is older. Cute book, linking bible verses with positive character traits. Discussion questions about applying these characteristics in life.

Thank you for allowing me to review this book. I think this is a wonderful devotional book for little boys. It is a wonderful opportunity to share the word of God with my sons and grandsons. If you are looking for a great devotional book, you will not go wrong with this book.
