I left my badge behind and tried to forget.

March 10, 2020How far do I read a book before I give up and declare it a DNF? With this book 49%. I want to love every book but alas it doesn’t happen.
At the point I’ve given up the hero/heroine have barely spoke to each other, rather they’ve circled around adult lusted but acting like pre-teens with a first crush. And I’m halfway through and nothing really has happened and I’m bored.
Heroine works at brothers biker bar as a waitress. Brother is president of MC, a bunch of somewhat loveable ruffians. Their turf is about to be raided by rival MC, a bunch of Really Bad MF’s.
Hero is a former cop who left the force for reasons we still don’t know but something tragic. But it was a personal decision and they would like him back. Now he’s a bouncer at said biker bar because he wants to crack heads of drunks. Heroine works days and he woks nights so they barely see each other in passing.
Now because evil rival MC is in town, they are all holed up in club bunker.
And that’s when I officially gave up. I’m bored, next to nothing has happened and h/h have barely spoken.
The book may get way better. Action probably happens. Love blossoms but, for me, this will happen to late. And I hate when that happens.

4.5 stars - Chance and Connie came from different worlds but each experienced a life-changing loss and these kindred souls found comfort in each other. What started as insta-lust became hot, heavy, and as necessary as air. I loved how he instinctively protected Connie and Annie and didn't think twice about it until after the fact. And then there are the steamy moments that are just... YES!

This a 2nd chance at love for both Connie and Chance. Connie is a widower with a precious little girl, Annie and she lost her husband and she moves home to be closer to her family. At her young age Connie has a dream to own her own restaurant so she saves what she can and provides the best she can for Annie. Hayes is Connie’s older brother and the President of Twisted Souls MC and he gives her a job working as a bartender at their local bar. Connie is glad to be home as Annie gets to spend time with her grandparents and uncle and the only thing Connie misses is someone to love. Unknown to Connie, Hayes hires a new bouncer, Chance who happens to be an ex-cop with a traumatic past he does not share easily. Hayes questions Chance and is satisfied with them to give him a chance. When the MC gives Chance a hard time he proves them he is no push over and holds his own. When Chance smacks into blue eyes, Connie is is taken back and is fixed on her and wants to know her and her body. When a rival a rival MC starts trouble in town Hayes puts everyone on lock down and Chance comes along and ends being assigned Connie and Annie’s bodyguards. Once Connie and Chance are alone they take what they want from one another and Connie walks away until the next time. Once these two work out what’s going on they keep spending imitate time together and develop feelings. When the danger affects Annie does Chance and Hayes do what is necessary to keep her safe! The ending is something special and what Chance ends up doing is just beautiful. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Connie’s brother Hayes is the President of the local MC. She works at the bar/restaurant they own. She also is a widow with a young daughter. Life is great…she is saving to buy a restaurant of her own, her daughter is happy and healthy, her parents are both alive and together, but she is missing a partner. One day an ex-cop shows up looking for a job and Hayes hires him as a bouncer. He is great at his job but he has a traumatized past. His partner was killed in front of him…but she was more than that! He cannot let it go, and it caused him to quit the force. A rival MC gang arrives in town and is after the local chapter. They all retreat to a compound made for such emergencies. Everyone is on tether hooks and wants to return to their lives. When one of them kidnaps Annie things go sideways…and this is right after Chance and Connie finally acted on their attraction to one another. Will they get her daughter back? Will any of them die? Will Connie and Chance have time to discover what may transpire between them? This is a fast read with a HEA~ I received this book as an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.

The story begins, and what a story it is! Hayes is Connie’s brother. He owns a biker bar, Twisted Souls and Connie is not only the bartender but also the mother of Annie. Then, Chance, the smokin’ hot bouncer shows up and the story gets very interesting. And a little bit steamy.
This is a story with a sense of pride and loyalties among the characters. A sense of family, too. Unfortunately, another MC gang trying to take over the turf isn’t a nice bunch of folks that you can have a sit down with and talk through the troubles of rival gangs starting a war. Gunshots are fired and club members are hurt. Things are tense.
I read this book in one sitting. Choose not to stop until the end. Couldn’t if I wanted to. Had to see it through. The ending is absolutely great btw. Natasha L. Black has never disappointed me and this book is no exception. It should be at least 6 STARS.

Omg I am absolutely blown away by this book. This book had me on the edge of my seat from the beginning until the end. I have to say Natasha knocked it out of the ballpark with this book.
It has it all from the heartbreak and struggles and letting yourself live again and action packed and suspense and romance and steamy sex and just absolutely loved it.
Chance McCoy left the police force and moved away to start to live his life and try as best as he could to put his past behind him, but when he starts a bouncer job for the local mc he finds himself thinking about the blue eyes bartender connie carter. Connie is also ex police force and moved back home with her daughter Annie and is bartending for her brothers mc but when she meets chance can she stay away from him, but when a notorious mc tries to take over will anyone make it out alive?

Connie is a single mom who carries around some emotional baggage. She’s afraid to let anyone get close because that would mean she could get hurt. She has a delightful daughter named Annie who is a shining star in this story.
Chance is a retired cop. He’s working as a bouncer now and when a gang war breaks out he finds himself getting close to the bosses sister. They sneak around the compound and neither wants to admit they have actual feelings.
When Annie is kidnapped though Chance has to put it all on the line to save her, and save himself in the process.
The characters in this story were likable, especially Annie who you’ll fall in love with most of all. The story is dramatic and fast paced and you’ll be compelled to read start to finish.

This is a good solid story concept with interesting main characters but, not one of my favorites. For me, it’s slow and the build up and anticipation of the drama seems to struggle with intensity. The sexual tension between Connie and Chance is there and their situation is realistic. Connie is the sister of the Twisted Soul MC’s President, Hayes and Chance is a former cop who becomes the MC’s muscle and bodyguard to Connie and her five year old daughter, Annie. Annie is such a sweet child and is the bright spot in the danger that surrounds them all. She is my favorite part of the book. Like I said, it's a good story but, this one doesn't do it for me like some of Natasha L. Black's other books.

Her brother is President of the local twisted souls MC. She is a widow and a bartender for him and also has a daughter. He is an ex cop with a heartbreaking past. But is good at his job as a bouncer for her brother. They both are attracted to each other but have so much past hurt to get over before they can act on it deeper. A rival gang comes in and starts a war. They also kidnap her daughter. They have went to a compound made to keep them safe, They have had a few trysts and now life has given them another kick. What happens now? It is exciting, emotional, heartbreaking, suspenseful, dramatic, and so much more. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.

This is a well written book with strong characters with a hot chemistry and an interesting story line. The author does a great job pulling you in with all the twists and turns and I loved watching Connie and Chance's relationship grow into love. There's drama,danger and intrigue as well as the steamy romance. It's brought to life with her descriptive writing and detailed scenes and had me hooked from start to finish. I loved and highly recommend this book.

Not the best I've ever read but not the worst either, not by a long shot. There is little character development or depth of storyline, so much occurs off page and is glossed over with a 'so that happened but it's sorted now ' it's incredibly frustrating not to know these things. I couldn't care less about any of the characters, they were one dimensional and so much left unspoken, like why was he concerned about a child aged 1? There are some sex scenes each of them appropriate and consensual.
I won't be purchasing any more by this author.

Chance and Connie will draw you into their story. Chance is an ex-cop now working in a biker bar. When they go on lock down, he is given the task of protecting Connie. When they get a little too close, he knows his heart is in trouble and he can't take another broken heart. When Connie's little girl is kidnapped, Chance's heart gets caught up in the middle because he would do anything for Connie even giving his life. Will he get her daughter back and will he forfeit his heart to try foe love again? I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.

Chance is an ex-cop who left the force after his partner was killed. He becomes a bouncer at a biker bar and falls for Connie, the sister of the club president. Sparks fly between them but the MC ends up in a war with another gang, what will happen when they end up in the middle, can Chance keep Connie and her daughter safe? Fast-paced read with loads of drama, suspense and twists and turns. I liked the chemistry and the story is entertaining. A good read.

Connie has a painful past and so does Chance. Connie works in her brothers bar and she loves her caught more than anything. Chance went through something equally painful and decided that a change in job and scenery will help. Though all it did was take it with him. Connie and Chance have instant chemistry and it's heavily tested with her brothers MC has to go on locked and in much close quarters. So he has to keep Connie safe while protecting his heart from falling in love.

They kidnap Connie's daughter and Chance leads the guys to retrieve Annie. He gets shot, as does Hayes, Connie's brother. The Twisted Souls are good guys. I cop not usually like MC stories, but I did this one.

This is an interesting MC story.It is action packed and drama filled, it has fighting, and kidnapping. The characters are interesting because there are a lot of different ones, it is suspenseful, and hot, sexy, steamy, chemistry. Natasha L. Black gives us an emotional, heartbreaking, dramatic, and exciting story about Connie and Chance who have each been so damaged by previous life experiences and other people. Not only does an MC war break out but she puts a child in a kidnapping situation. My heart was racing alternately between the situation and the chemistry between these two. What a great read you won't to miss.

He was supposed to be her protector, but he couldn’t help falling under the spell of a single mother who also happens to be the boss’ sister. This was a forbidden romance with a dark and delicious MC twist. An enjoyable read.

I really really had fun reading this story! They are both realistic people and tough people. There are tough times, sexy times and scary times to entertain you in this book. I highly recommend it!!! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

I really enjoyed this one. Chance and Connie are incredibly different but gel together as an evidence. This was a very good read, hot and romantic with a good dose of suspense and action. A real page turner.

An “edge of your chair” read
Admittedly this book doesn’t begin like any romance I’ve read to date since it’s about a motorcycle gang standoff over turf. Connie works in a bar that caters to a biker gang that supports and helps keep their town safe by their very presence. Enter Chance McCoy, who had been recently fired by the police force. He takes a job as the bouncer at bar, and one thing leads to another between Connie and Chance. Her daughter Annie absolutely adores him thereby giving his extra points with her mother. Unfortunately a rival gang rears its more than ugly head and is intent on destroying anyone and everything that is in their path to taking over the town. Romance, gang war, romance, great characters make this a book to don’t want to miss reading.

An interesting story about an ex-cop, Chance, and a lady bartender, Connie, who is sister to the head of a motorcycle gang. He is hired as a bouncer at the club where she works – owned by her brother – and they soon fall in lust with each other. Each carries the weight of previous relationships that ended in tragedy, as well as the problems of a gang war involving their group and another gang. The story has a number of twists and turns as it works itself out – and it is quite entertaining. Both Chance and Connie are strong and honest with themselves and others, and it is interesting to see how the relationship between them develops. I received a free copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Good book with wonderful characters that revolve around a MC and a rival MC. Connie is the sister of the club leader and Chance is the newly hired bouncer for the MC bar. They have an instant attraction but are reluctant to act on it for different reasons. When they do finally give in it is right before the rival club makes a move against their MC and during the confusion, Annie (Connie's daughter) is kidnapped.
If you are looking for a book with drama, action, kidnapping, self-redemption, and a HEA this is one you should pick up and carve out a few hours to settle back and enjoy.
