Boss's Baby

Rate this book
Pregnant by my new boss.
Not exactly a career goal.

If you talk crap about your new boss, don't get busted.
Especially if your new boss is Josh Taylor.
The rich bad boy every girl in our high school secretly wanted.

To be fair, I didn't know he was my new boss when we went out a month ago.
We'll revisit that mishap later.

Let's just say when I was summoned to his office, I was mortified.
And I definitely wasn't expecting what came next.

"Cassidy, I have a proposition.
I need a fake fiancée for Christmas,
And you're my only option."

It was supposed to be fake. No strings. No feelings.
And no baby.
Ho, Ho, oh nooooooo.

This full-length, second chance romance offers one hell of a happily ever after and a surprise ending guaranteed to leave you breathless.

This is literally a Hallmark Christmas Movie made into a book, but umm... *cough* Rated R.

Definitely not PG like the normal movies, but it has the same (or very similar) formula.

Story takes place around Christmas time ✅
H & h have known each other since high school. ✅
H & h are from a small town ✅
H & h are bigwigs currently living in New York ✅
h is a single, super-successful woman, who is an executive marketing director
H has a personal family trauma ✅
Something happens around the 90% mark, separating the H & h, right before they get back together and live HEA. ✅

Just add an unplanned pregnancy 👶🏼🍼 into the mix, and you're good. But like the somewhat predictable storyline in Hallmark movies, IT'S STILL ADDICTING!

"Watching these movies is like drinking dozens of different types of Chardonnay: They’re all the same wine, but they all have subtle differences and bouquets and flavor profiles." -Rob Bricken

The Boss's Baby is about two very career driven people who find something they didn't know they wanted or needed, LOVE. What started out as a ruse, turned into something very serious and life changing.

Would have loved more humor and witty dialogue. Found myself skimming some parts that weren't essential to the story, but overall I liked it.

Light and airy until it wasn't (again...around the 90% mark), this story was cute and heartwarming.
The small town setting and side characters only added to the Hallmark-esk feel.

Who doesn’t love a fake relationship with complications. Although I’d say this is a second chance at romance too.

Cassidy has known Josh since they were children, she had a crush on him but he and his friends always teased her. But it’s years later and now Josh needs her help, after a night of passion he turns out to be her new boss and he has a proposition for her, can Cassidy help Josh without her feelings becoming more than she expected and what of her own little surprise a long the way?

Josh has been enjoying his life as a single guy that is until his father gives him an ultimatum settle down or lose his inheritance. Deciding that a fake relationship to placate the family is perfect and Cassidy is the perfect choice especially after she has already rescued him once by pretending to be his fiancée and he knows their chemistry is electric he knows she is the only option. But what happens when things change and feelings become real and the night of passion they shared has a consequence that neither can deny?

Very enjoyable book with some steamy scenes, family drama and a HEA. I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC of this book.

Two People On Opposite Ends Of The Dating Spectrum Stubbornly Resist Love, But Loves Finds Them Anyway; Starts Out Strong But Drags At The End.

Josh Taylor, thirty-three, had a privileged youth growing up in the small city of Pine Shades, just a couple hours drive outside of NYC where he now lives. He and his buddies from Gray Stone Academy had gotten into a lot of trouble back in the day, and he left behind a trail of broken hearts before he followed the family tradition and enlisted in the marines. After serving in Afghanistan, he returned home and attended Harvard before going to work at his father's Fortune 500 company - Taylor Logging, a leading natural resource company. Although his stint with the marines had ironed out most of his bad behavior, his notorious playboy ways were often fodder for the tabloids until he turned thirty. Although he still has never been in love, he has become bored with his old lifestyle.

Josh hopes to one day take over for his father as CEO, but his competitive younger brother is vying for the top spot, too. His father wants to give Josh the job, but only if he marries. Josh thinks back to his recent Thanksgiving fling with the girl he had a secret crush on throughout high school.

Cassidy Marten, thirty-three, was brought up in a very modest home in a working class neighborhood where she attended Pine Shades High School. Clad in her second-hand wardrobe, she had always felt uncomfortable around the ultra wealthy residents that populated the other side the city. The kids from Gray Stone Academy that she had to serve when she worked at Two Scoops were the worst, teasing and harassing her for having less than them. One of them had captured her attention in spite his rudeness. She had had a secret crush on Josh Taylor, now a hotshot billionaire, much to her own chagrin.

A career-focused overthinker with quiet strength, Cassidy has worked hard as an adult to improve her financial situation. After attending Notre Dame, she began working at MacLand-Glass in NYC, where she remains as a marketing executive with a six digit salary. When she returns home for the Thanksgiving holiday and locks eyes with Josh Taylor from across a bar, that old spark she felt is still there. She decides to just roll with it when he he turns up the heat.

Hoping to appease his father and take over CEO duties, Josh later approaches Cassidy and proposes a fake engagement. When she finally agrees, Josh and Cassidy, neither of whom want a real relationship, end up with more than they bargained for. The couple eventually earns an HEA!

There are a few issues that may bother some readers. First, I loved the first three quarters of this book, but the end felt rushed. Next, Katie wants Cassidy to fess up right after she and Josh admit to having feelings and after she discovers she is pregnant. The timing couldn't be worse with their relationship so new and evolving, and a baby necessitates they have some form of interaction going forward. Given their real feelings, the truth of what had been should have been sacred to them as a couple and nobody else's business. Similarly, it was ridiculous that the parents of two people in their thirties, both with good paying jobs, would demand to pay for the wedding. The couple was very capable of covering the cost. In addition, Cassidy' decision to keep the pregnancy a secret for now makes little sense. Finally, there are some gaps in time near the end when the couple reall should be talking.

Josh and Cassidy's story is about two people on opposite ends of the dating spectrum who stubbornly resist love, but loves finds them anyway. The POV alternates between Josh and Cassidy. The story is nicely written, though my advance copy has several errors, especially near the end, which might be corrected in the released version. The plot is nicely developed. The characters are well-defined. Josh is very interesting. Spending most of the book in denial, he is very slow to fully grow up and yet remains very likable. I rate this book four stars.

There’s a lot that I liked about this fake relationship romance, but the chemistry between these two left me feeling cold. Though Josh is set to become Cassidy’s boss in a few months, this is NOT an office romance, if that’s what the title led you to believe. It’s much more about the fake relationship between two former high school classmates - the cocky player and the girl from the wrong side of the tracks. While I liked both characters individually and the storyline as a whole (plus those great Hallmark movie references), I never felt like the relationship moved past the lust stage. It starts with a hookup and then focuses on the stress of lying to their families, but the relationship never reached the point where I thought these two knew enough about each other to be in love.

Essentially, the story follows Josh, a former manwhore now working for the family business. He’s only recently cleaned up his act, and needs to prove to his ailing father that he has what it takes to step up and run the show. When his father suggests that he find himself a wife, Josh can’t help but think of Cassidy, his high school classmate who he crushed on in his teens and hooked up with while home for Thanksgiving. Cassidy has always been attracted to Josh - even when he picked on her in high school - and after their hookup, she’s left feeling like she rewarded his bad behavior in high school. When he comes to her with a crazy plan to form a fake relationship, she’s got all sorts of mixed emotions.

As always with Aubrey Wright’s books, the writing is solid with interesting characters and plenty of steam. Perhaps it’s because Cass and Josh sleep together so quickly, but I never felt the sexual tension between them, and the continued focus on lying throughout the book sort of dampened the mood. We don’t get a lot of time with them alone together, though there was potential for some great scenes (Cassidy never even finds out that Josh secretly loves Hallmark movies!). It was just tough for me to believe that they’d be in love when most of what we witness are tense family dinners and relationship angst. It’s in no way a bad book, but I can’t say that I really loved it either.

Home for the holiday's and what was fake becomes all to real.

I know the title is Boss's Baby but this was more of a second chance story for me as the characters slept together before he was her boss. They knew each other from growing up in the same small town even thought they ran in very different circles. She worked at the local ice cream parlor and he used to tease her. She didn't like him much, even though she did have a crush on him. he teased her to get her attention and even though he thought her beautiful he never acted on it because what would his friends say?

Cassidy has worked her butt off to secure her future. She thought work was the most important thing and has her own office at work and pulls in a six figure salary. She comes across as super focused on wealth gap and thinks those with big money are spoiled and selfish. When she runs into Josh at Thanksgiving he seems a lot more down to earth than she remembers. After pretending to be his fiancee to save him from a crazy ex they share a few drinks and end up in the back of his vehicle.

When Josh's father tells him he needs to settle down or he won't get passed down the company he's stumped. Until he watches a Hallmark movie and gets an idea. Him and Cass do have a history now, they share an attraction and she did already pretend to be his fiancee once before.

It's fun to see them navigate the line between honesty and farce. They share more of a bickering married couple chemistry than a just fell in love pairing but I enjoyed it. Once Cassidy get's over the privilege of having money and Josh starts actually considering Cassidy's feelings their relationship actually gets to shine. I enjoyed the added family drama as well.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the story of Josh and Cassidy. They knew each other while growing up in a small town, but attended different high schools. Josh was from a very wealthy family and attended the private school, while Cassidy was from the poorer side of town and went to public school. Cassidy worked through high school at an ice cream shop where Josh and his friends would bully her. Cassidy felt bad about herself, but secretly had a crush on Josh. Now 15 years later, Cassidy is home for Thanksgiving and goes to the local bar with her sister. Joah happens to be there and notices Cassidy, with an engagement ring on her finger. Cassidy was trying the ring on at her mother's house and forgot to take it off. When an old girlfriend of Josh's wouldn't take no when she tried to get him to go home with her, he decided to ask Cassidy to pretend to be his fiance to get her to go away. Cassidy agreed and soon they had a few drinks and a one night stand. When Cassidy returned to work at the marketing firm where she worked, she learned Josh's father had bought the company and he would be her new boss. Cassidy wanted to forget her night with JOsh, but they seemed to keep running into each other. While home for Christmas, Josh asked Cassidy to pretend to be his fiance again because his father wanted him to get married in order to take over the company. Josh was also worried about his father, who had a heart attack and Josh knew the stress of running the company was too much for him. Cassidy agreed with the promise of Josh helping her start her own marketing company. I enjoyed this story. I liked Josh and thought he really matured through this book. I like Cassidy and thought she was strong and determined to be successful. I like how Josh was so supportive of Cassidy. Another good one.

I loved this book. Josh and Cassidy were a great match. Back in school, Josh was her tormentor with a secret crush on her and she had a crush on him, but he was awful towards her as well as his rich friends and years later fate brings these two back together. When Josh sees Cass in a bar on Thanksgiving he can’t take his eyes off her, he’s in a pickle and needs a little help with something and she agrees to help him out and one thing leads to another and you know how the rest goes. Josh is a real charmer, he always says the right things to get you moving, but can he be trusted? When he comes up with a plan to keep his position at the family company he ropes Cass in on it and then it begins. The lies, deception, the emotions and feelings, but when the tide turns and it’s all about to come to a head, Cass has one more thing to add to the lies and what Josh does with that information shows her he’s just who she thought he was. Or is he? This author brings us tons of heat, chemistry off the charts, you will not put this down! No spoilers here. Loved this book, it was a great read. I found this book on BookSprout.

An absolute joy to read! The story of Cassidy and Josh is one of love happening when you least expect it, hidden behind a facade of lies. Josh's family runs a very successful logging company. Cassidy works for a marketing firm and has climbed pretty high up the ladder. The two run into each other while at home for Thanksgiving and end up hooking up. When Cassidy returns to work, she receives news that her company is being bought out by Taylor Logging and Josh will be her new boss. What happens next starts the two down a path of lies and deceit in the name of love. Josh's father suffers a heart attack and tells Josh what needs to happen for him to take over the company. Josh enlists Cassidy's help to make his father think he is settlling down and is worthy of leading the company. Josh doesn't expect to fall in love, though, and when the whole plan blows up in his face, it makes him face his true feelings for Cassidy. The two end up being honest with themselves and each other and get the happily ever after they started out faking.

Cassidy was back home for the holiday and she runs into Josh a guy she went to high school with. Josh asks her if she'll help him by pretending to be his fiancé to get rid of his high school ex. She agrees and then they end up spending the night together. She goes back to her home and work only to learn from her boss that he has sold their company. Worried about their jobs the employees talk amongst themselves about what they just learned. And Cassidy is shocked when she sees that Josh is there and its his family that bought the company. Josh's father wants to give him the job of running the family business but he makes conditions on it. So Josh asks for Cassidy's help yet again. However things become more complicated when she learns that she is pregnant with his child. Will Josh admit his feeling for her before its too late? Will his family learn about his deception?

This is an amazing story. The chemistry between them is off the charts hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend it to any book lover.

15 Years had passed since Josh had seen Cassidy. And a lot had changed.
Cassidy was from the ‘poor side of town’. Josh was from an upper class, wealthy family. Their paths seldom crossed and when they did it wasn’t pretty. Josh and his buddies were spoiled brats in high school and treated kids not in ‘their’ school very badly.
Fast forward 15 years to the holidays, in a bar, Josh needs rescuing by a fiancé in a hurry. Cassidy is sporting an engagement ring but no guy to go with it. A perfect place to begin.
Then the lies begin in earnest.
This story is a good one. The storyline is intriguing and interesting to watch unfold. I couldn’t wait to see how the characters would play out the lies. Then they will surely find love and family around the holidays, right? Can’t tell you for sure except to say it really is a very good story with love, laughter, tears, angst, family, and a healthy dose of forgiveness.
Aubrey Wright is a great storyteller. This book is no exception. It was a one sitting read for me. I couldn’t put it down until I got to the HEA!

Two sets of different people of financial class show everyone what love can be no matter how much money they have in their pockets. Cassidy has always had crush on Josh Taylor through her life as a teenage . She believed that would pass as she got older and found her way in life of working for what she wanted most in life . Josh being one of the richest family in the small town of pine shades just a few hour drive from NYC,and having to come home for the holidays . He figured that when he came home for the holidays that he wouldn't bump into the girl that he had a secert crush on as a teenager would be in his sights. Cass and Josh have a plan set that could help him with his problem with becoming CEO and Cass problem she has had her hole life there is just one catch they have to plan to become fake fiance ,and in between there lie the truth might be just a little bit of love between them that might break the fake and make it into a real one. I received this book as a arc for a honest review and I can say that this might just be the a hallmark movie in the making .

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Cassidy and Josh. Cassidy is a young woman who grew up in the wrong side of town and now works as a junior executive at a marketing firm. She's home for Christmas when she runs into Josh Taylor of Taylor Logging and King of Gray Stone Academy. She's had a crush on him in HS but he and his buddies would tease her about how poor she was. Now it's 15 years later and their lives are about to become entwined together. After a quick fling Thanksgiving break and coming back to work to find out Taylor Logging is buying out her company she's reminded of the one night fling. Josh now is being put to the his dad's health has put a rush on Josh getting a girlfriend and more. Coming up with a plan to have a fake engagement he sees Cassidy's help. But the lie will bite them in the end especially when their fake feelings start to turn real. Great HEA.

Okay first read of this author

Boss's Baby is the first book I have read by Aubrey Wright so I was not sure what to expect. You can just never tell if you will gel with a "new to you" author's writing style or their ability to craft a really well thought out and coherent story-line, which are needed for full length books. I thought the author did some things quite well and others not so much. So for me this is a mixed review because even though I did like the characters of Josh and Cassidy I was not completely enamored them. Then add in the fact that the story-line had good potential and some nice things about it but it just did not live up to what it could have been and never gelled for me. I will read this author again as I always believe in giving an author a couple of chances before deciding to go separate ways.

I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

Boss’s Baby by Aubrey Wright is a story focusing on Josh Taylor, a billionaire player working at his father’s Fortune 500 Company, and Cassidy Marten, a hard working marketing executive. Josh and Cassidy were secretly attracted to each other in high school, but sparks fly when they see each other in a bar years later (before Cassidy starts her new job which happens to be at his father’s company). Josh and Cassidy are shocked when they find they will be working together. Later, Josh’s father tells him he must marry before he can become the company’s CEO. Being desperate, Josh proposes a fake engagement to Cassidy. When his father has a heart attack, Josh wants to follow through with the marriage, but Cassidy has her own secret too! I recommend this great read which has family issues, deceit, interesting characters and plot, and steamy attraction and romance.

Awesome funny book. Well i thought it was funny but i have a warped sense of humor sometimes. This was another fantastic in the Aubrey Wright library. Hey characters seem to get themselves into these totally uncomfortable and fortuitous situations that one has to wonder if there is some poor unfortunate who this is real life for. This is an unexpected pregnancy with the boss/ fake relationship scenario. She is a mouthy, or rather sassy woman who had the hots for her Boss, and He is a cocky, drop dead macho alpha boss who gets what he wants. No matter what. I really enjoyed the will they, won't they agnst that Aubrey Wright portrays. There is that gut-wrenching tension and kind of mental Chase between the two . I felt like this was one of Aubrey best books.

the biggest question for me on this book, i hesitate to review and talk about books when i am unsure if that book title is even spelled right?? let me tell u i am the first person to say i am not the world's greatest speller ...ever!! i don't like spelling and i feel it is so tough. that aside ... if a person ... the person being the BOSS ... and that word has an s as the last letter ... if i recall my grade school teaching properly ... the possession becomes the s on the that word ...so it would be Boss' ... and i wrong? so i feel this is wrong spelling ...that is so u can see my last name ... Edwards ... so it would be Edwards' ... no need to add another s ... any one there? that aside ... good read ... i have read books from Aubrey before ... hope i am not mixing that up??! will read more soon enough. great cover.

This was a great story that I really enjoyed. Cassidy was the girl from the wrong side of the tracks, but has gone on to bigger and better things. Josh was the rich boy that was popular and so crush worthy. Cassidy and Josh run into each other 15 years after high school during Thanksgiving and Cassidy helps Josh out of a tricky situation. That run in at Thanksgiving is the start of something that neither of them expected.

Cassidy and Josh are great characters and their story was both a lot of fun and full of interesting twists and turns. Loved Cassidy's sister Katie, but didn't really care for Josh's brother Sam. Loved the happy ever after. Definitely recommend reading this book.

Like all Aubrey's work this is a well written fake relationship book that has a little steam and a lot of character depth to keep you engaged

Josh is the typical one and done kind of guy but he has recently cleaned up his act after all he is about to inherit the family business and he needs to impress his dad. The only thing is the dad wants more he wants Josh married So Josh hatches a plot for a fake relationship and the only one he can think of as his wife is Cassidy the girl he crushed on at school. He made her life hell at school but they have had a fling since when he came home for Thanksgiving. Can he convince her to Joaquin in him a fake relationship will it remain fake or will feelings develop You will have to read to see

Cassidy, growing up on the wrong side of the tracks, was determined to be more that what people thought of her. But finds herself in the same place after going back home for the holidays.

Together they find themselves striving to break out of the mold others have put them in. The characters struggle to grow up, and find the path they are ment to be, while fighting their attraction to each other.

This sweet story has a HEA, that is perfect for the holidays.

What a fantastic new book from Aubrey Wright. Cassidy and Josh grew up in the same town and went to school together yet because they ran in different circles in school, they weren't friends. When both are home for Thanksgiving a connection is formed and a one night stand occurs. Now reunited as boss and employee, they begin a fake relationship for the Holidays. However feelings become real and even more real is the baby neither were expecting. Boss's Baby is a heartwarming story filled with a secret office romance, an unplanned pregnancy, lies, heartache, fear, forgiveness, passion, and love. I loved this new book and can't wait to read more from Aubrey Wright.

Great storyline of old high school acquaintances who each had a crush on the other but was never revealed. Skip to fifteen years later all grown up and mature and and these two still can’t take their eyes off each other. The author did a great job of matching them the chemistry was spot on and liked how each started to take the others feelings into consideration. The characters were well developed and the family drama added great circumstances to an already well thought plot. Enjoyed how all was resolved that showed the characters truly did grow from this experience.

This is the story of Cassie and Josh. They went to school together where Josh wasn't that great to her. Years later where they reconnect and a fake marriage is planned. This one was okay. I felt it was too much internal dialogue and not enough actual conversations. Then boom they are magically in love. Love requires conversations and having sex twice isn't going to do it. I have read a few books by Aubrey and this isn't my favorite. I will continue to read her books because I do enjoy her.

Rich, womanizer H and a middle class h who is stuck on feeling unworthy because she wasn’t raised with millions. Tried to make the H seem like a secret nice guy but his spoiled, selfish core came through. ‘You want one ring but it’s not flashy enough for the people in my circle so I’m going to ignore your desire.’ ‘Home to spend the holiday with your family. Too bad, move into my place to spend it with my family.’ All while she’s awe stick about fancy hotels that she always wanted to see but felt she was too poor to even go into. And perfectly willing to upset and disappoint her family to make him & his happy.
