Becker Brothers #4

Old Fashioned

Rate this book
The epic finale of the Becker Brothers series. Each book can be read as a stand-alone.

It’s a man’s world.

When I declared sports medicine as my major and every man narrowed their eyes, that saying proved true. It was true when my ex-husband decided I’d give up my career when our daughter was born. And again when I divorced the Chief of Police in our small town, and he made it painfully clear that I could leave him, but I would never be free.

Landing the job as the new athletic trainer for Stratford’s high school team is my chance to start over. And walking into a male-dominated sport and staff, I’m ready for the challenge.

I’m not ready for Jordan Becker.

The head coach of our championship winning team is a Herculean force of nature—as severe as he is determined. His icy blue eyes and permanent scowl drive the women in this town mad, and his quiet power and undeniable command conjure respect from every man.

When I join his team, I expect the doubt and anticipate the fight from him. And I get them both.

I don’t expect to form a friendship.

And I never expect to fall for him.

My breath catches when those cool eyes fall to my lips. My body comes alive when his is near. And as those lines begin to blur, every warning bell sounds.

My job, my reputation are on the line.
And my ex is around every corner, waiting to remind me of his power.

It’s a man’s world, and if I want to survive, I can never fall in love with Jordan Becker.

Even if he falls in love with me first.

I’ve been hooked on the Becker Brothers series since book one, and as happy as I am to get to read Jordan’s book and finally discover the one thing that’s been building through the stories, I’m sad to see them end. I’ve fallen in love with this family and I’m not quite ready to let go. Kandi ended this series with a fantastic romance between Jordan and Sydney!

Jordan is the oldest Becker brother. He was adopted at birth, but has always been just as much a part of the Becker family as the others. The only difference is he never wanted anything to do with the whiskey distillery. His passion is football and he’s the coach of a high school championship team.

Sydney is a recently divorced single mom who gets a job with the football team Jordan coaches. She’s the new athletic trainer and Jordan is worried she’ll be a distraction for the guys. She’s gorgeous. But it’s not the high school boys he should worry about, Sydney becomes the best kind of distraction for him.
Sydney Kelly was not the kind of woman you could pass by without noticing.

I loved Sydney and Jordan’s romance. They had this instant attraction, but it was more than that. Watching their romance blossom was beautiful. And my most favorite part of this book… Paige. Sydney’s daughter was amazing. I loved her relationship with Jordan and the other Becker’s as well. These characters are such a great family unit and it makes me so happy to read books like that. Books where son’s dance with their moms after dinner and towns where everyone knows everyone. Gah. I just love it so much!

Though Old Fashioned can be read as a stand-alone, there is a story line that’s been carried through all the books and I highly recommend you read the whole series to get the full effect. I loved seeing how things concluded and was happy to see how everything turned out.

Kandi Steiner does small town romances so well. I’ve adored this entire series. This was sweet, steamy, and gave me the best kind of feels. If you love a good single parent romance, pick this one up! If you’re looking for a fabulous familial series, the Becker Brothers books are must reads!!
In my heart, I knew there was nothing the Becker brothers couldn’t face together.

“I didn’t expect you so early.”

“An hour before practice?” she asked, quirking one eyebrow. “I’d say that’s more punctual than early. I figured you’d want to show me my office, let me get my table and supplies set up.” She tapped the large duffle bag hanging off her shoulder.

“I guess I’m just used to the rest of my staff who like to roll up here ten minutes before the team starts showing up.”

She smiled. “Well, then let’s just say I’m not like the rest of your staff.”

You can say that again.

I motioned toward the hallway, guiding her out of my office and past the rows of lockers to the athletic training station. Once I flicked on the light, I stood at the entrance with my hands in my pockets. “We got a pretty decent amount of money from the boosters last year,” I explained as Sydney dropped her duffle bag on the examination table, looking around her new space. “So, lucky for you, you’re walking into an upgraded version of the mess that was here before.” I pointed. “New ice bath, new whirlpool, extra storage, nice table for soft tissue work. We even got those fancy boot things.”

“NormaTecs,” she mused, crossing her arms as her eyebrows crept up. She eyed me with a smirk. “I didn’t realize I was working for a team of professional athletes.”

I grabbed the back of my neck with a shrug. “What can I say? When you win two state championships, you get a lot of money thrown your way. We had all new pads, new jerseys, new staff gear, end zone cameras, new iPads and screens for reviewing tapes. I was running out of ways to spend it.”

She chuckled. “You poor thing.”

I wanted to smile, too, but I was still rubbing my neck, staring at what I knew would be the source of every headache I’d have in the next few months.

“Sydney, listen,” I said on a sigh, letting my hand fall. “I don’t know how else to say this but to be frank with you.”

Her smile fell, expression flattening as she straightened her spine.

“I’m worried about you being our athletic trainer.”

Her eyebrows dipped, lips pursing. “Let me guess — because I’m a woman?”

“No,” I said quickly, but then I rolled my lips together. “Well, honestly? Kind of.” I held up my hands when she rolled her eyes. “But not because I don’t think you’re capable. It’s just that… we’re dealing with teenage boys here. They’re rowdy, and — God help us — dominated by hormones that they can’t control yet.”

Sydney scoffed, her eyebrows shooting up to her hairline as she tongued her cheek. “Wow.”

“I’m just saying,” I continued. “There’s a lot riding on this season. We’ve won two state championships in a row, and we have a lot of eyes on us.”

“Meaning, you have a lot of eyes on you.”

I swallowed. “Yes.”

“And you think I’ll be a distraction.”

“Honestly? I know you will be.”

Her smile grew, and she shook her head, looking around her new office before she took two purposeful steps toward me. “Let me say this slowly so you hear me. If your players are distracted by a woman on the sideline, that is on them — not on me. If their parents didn’t teach them that, then I’d wager that’s your new job. I’m an athletic trainer, and a damn good one, which is why I got this job in the first place. I’m here to do that job, and the last thing I need is for my new boss to tell me that I might be too pretty to do it effectively.”

“I didn’t say you were…”

“Then what exactly are you saying?” she probed, taking another step. Her chest was a few inches from mine now, her eyes cast up, chin held high, jaw set. Those dark lashes brushed her cheeks when she blinked, waiting.

I catalogued every feature.

“What I’m saying is that you are the first new member to our staff since I became head coach seven years ago, and I’m making sure you understand that we set the standards high on this team.”

“Great. Your expectations have been made clear. Can I have a while alone to set up my office now?”

I narrowed my eyes. “Do you have a problem with authority, Ms. Clark?”

“Only as much as you seem to have a problem with equality, Coach.”

I blew out a frustrated breath, eyes rolling up to the ceiling as I debated whether it was worth fighting her over. I wanted to. Oh, how I wanted to. But the truth was I knew I’d already put my foot in my mouth, that I hadn’t explained my concerns properly.

I did sound like a sexist asshole, and no verbal argument could win me out of that perception in this moment.

The only way for her to see that my concerns were valid was to witness them play out.

And I had no doubt they would — in less than an hour when that locker room filled with boys.

“Let me know if you have any questions as you get set up,” I said, forcing a calm breath. “After practice, I’ll get your sizes so we can order you staff polos and jackets for the games. The team should start showing up in about forty-five minutes.”

I didn’t say another word, nor did I wait to see if she had a last one to get in, either. Instead, I moved swiftly back down the hall, resisting the urge to slam my office door. I swiped my clipboard off the desk, attempting to focus, but I read the same line over and over again, all the while stewing on what I’d said, how I’d said it, and what she’d thrown back at me, in return.

It was less than an hour before the first practice of the year, and one thing was already abundantly clear.

It was going to be a long season.

what do i do now that the becker brothers are all taken? who am i left to contend with? ugh why is the world so unfair?! so this conclusion was a little ill proportioned if i do say so myself but its also given me more than what i asked for—though in the most unimpressive way.

on the one hand, it has one of my favorite tropes which was single mother with kids (a daughter in this case). on the other hand, the romance was overshadowed by the mystery subplot surrounding the death of the beckers' dad thats been building since book one.

the romance was so sweet. i liked jordan and sydney as individuals, how passionate they were with their professions. i liked them together as couple and them spending time with paige. i thought she was very mature for a nine years old. it was kind of unrealistic. but what do i know about kids these days?

the second half of the book focuses on resolving the murder case, the om drama, and we also get answers about jordan's biological parents. i thought all of this played out like a cheap soap opera. it was just so predictable and easy. there was no surprise elements whatsoever. at least it didnt feel that way.

I adore Kandi and every book she writes. I am so sad that this is the end of the Becker Brother series, but what a series it's been! We've had almost every trope of romance within these books, so I was excited to have the workplace romance between a high school football coach and the new trainer!

Jordan is the oldest Becker Brother, adopted, and the coach of a state-winning football team. He is under an enormous amount of pressure to win again and knows that his gorgeous new trainer is going to be a distraction to the players. I absolutely loved Sydney's character and how she was finally living life the way she wanted to after divorcing her abusive husband. Her daughter was so adorable and I loved how Jordan helped her out with football since she was determined to play, even though she's a girl. Family is such an integral part to this series and I loved all of the family relationships we got.

As for the romance, it was super sweet and I enjoyed how both Sydney and Jordan had to take down their own walls to trust each other in a relationship. Was it anything special? Not really. But it was sweet. I do think that the mystery surrounding Jordan's dad that has been building all series kind of overshadowed the romance and I didn't like how it played out as more of a soap opera. It just felt too melodramatic and I wasn't a fan of that plot line that carried throughout the series.

Overall, this is just a great, sweet romance series with an adorable family that I am obsessed with. All of the books are different and if you love a book for all of the relationships within the story, you will love the Becker Brothers series.

DELECTABLE INDEED!!

But look beyond it and Kandi has stuffed in all the feelings too. Jordan Becker and Sydney Kelly, nee Clark are now colleagues, but before that they used to crush on each other in high school. Those latent feelings have reared their pretty head and thrown both in a quandary.
Their chemistry could light up Stratford, Tennessee for days, it's thick enough to slice with a knife!!

The Becker Boys are all Perfect southern gentlemen. They love their mama, respect their women and stand with their brothers. They're a team and Jordan being the eldest, has the toughest task of finding his own place and getting his father justice
It broke my heart at the dark secret he keeps in his heart like a virus, it's eating him alive. Saying it would hurt them all and break up his love.
Kandi writes with honesty and romanticism, her belief in love blossoms in her words. Intensely written and fragrant with tender love it's a beautiful story wrapping up teh Becker Clan saga.
I'll miss these men ❤️

“It turned out, our scarred hearts beat in the same rhythm. And without a word being exchanged, we both sighed - because we knew that now, they’d never have to beat alone.”

Jordan is the type of person who is usually reserved and quiet so when he talks, people would usually listen. He’s a talented football coach - he commands respect and he also cares deeply for his team, always encouraging them and pushing them to be the best.

Sydney is the new athletic trainer on the football team. I can’t help but admire Sydney. She’s been through shit but she remains strong. Her journey after her divorce is as if she’s reclaiming her life. Being in a male-dominated world/sport puts pressure on her too because it’s as if she had something to prove to other people and to herself, but she’s thriving and doing a damn good job at it.

Jordan and Sydney’s chemistry was just SO GOOD. Their relationship was so pure. Knowing that Sydney experienced domestic violence from her ex-husband made me feel more emotional seeing how Jordan treats her so well just as she deserves. He’s patient, understanding, and caring. He always listens to what she has to say and supports her.

Paige, Sydney’s daughter, is another highlight in this book. I love her personality! She forms a relationship with Jordan too and their moments were so tender. He is so supportive and encouraging of Paige with her dreams of being a football player someday.

The mystery regarding the death of their father that was introduced from the very first book is finally resolved here and let me tell you, it’s worth it. Those scenes were so satisfying to read. Aside from that, there are also other big revelations in this book which took me by surprise (in a good way!). You won't be able to stop reading!!

As always, the scenes with the Beckers are the best. I love the bond they have, their moments together were so sweet. They welcomed Sydney and Paige into the family with open arms. We also get some cute moments between Noah and Ruby Grace, Logan and Mallory, as well as Mikey and Kylie. I also really love the female friendships that were formed in this group of people. The epilogue was so heart-warming!

This book is a perfect send-off to these characters! Jordan and Sydney’s story is the perfect way to end this series. You can’t help but feel so happy for Jordan getting his own happy ending and someone he wants to spend the rest of his life with.

It’s sad to see one of my favorite series end, but I’m so grateful this book exceeded my expectations.

4.5 Everything Wanted for This Series Stars
* * * * 1/2 Spoiler Free-Suprise Sale $1.99!!!
When I started this series, I felt it was special. I wrote to Ms. Steiner, gave my thoughts on it and where I thought it might go and then sat back and devoured every single entry as soon as I could get my grubby little hands on them.

Each entry brought me pleasure, an appreciation to the crafting and care, and the continued desire to see this to the end.

Ms. Steiner did not disappoint. She gave me everything I wanted plus more. She gave what I had been focused on...Plus extras.

She gave me insight into a special man and woman. Both were strong, complicated, and willing to stand strong when they were able to see their way through. Things were not easy for them and we knew it was going to be a rocky road.

Ms. Steiner created a family I loved. Each of the brothers was unique and the mother was able to deliver guidance any child or friend would want. It seems she was a nod to Ms. Steiner's own Mom.

Lucky Her.

If you love a series that can be read at its own pace...where you can read them all one right after the other...Then this is so for you.

I promise you will fall hard for all of the men and women in this series. Each has challenges and work through them all.

This is my favorite book of the series.

THERE I SAID IT!

From the first page to the last, this story was gave us exactly what we wanted from the final book of this series. We've seen all the brothers get their happy endings, and now it's the eldest's turn. With a perfectly balanced football thread woven through the rich tapestry of this story, I found the atmosphere absolutely perfect. The chemistry and fire between Jordan and Sydney was palpable--I craved seeing them on the page together with every turn.

And the thing we ALL wanted, we got with a bang--ANSWERS. Steiner cuts us to the quick only to rebuild us with renewed hope and pure joy for an epic ending.

Brilliant characters, chemistry and storytelling. A five star finale to a phenomenal small town series!

This is OK read for me. The last book in this series. I want more from Jordan's story. Since he is adopted and all. After finish listening to it, it turns out to be so so story.

Typical single mom with abusive ex husband and a brooding quite hero who has a huge chip on his shoulder. With the end of this series, the mystery revolving the dead of Jordan's father finally resolves.

I do not like hoe Jordan compares his sacrifice vs Sidney sacrifice. I think Jordan is selfish asking that much sacrifice from Sidney without thinking the consequences for her daugther. That is where my problem with Jordan.

Overall I still manage to finish the book and it still have the sense of sweetnes like the other series in this book.

4 ⭐'s

This book is about the eldest Becker brother, Jordan. He's the high school football coach and this year the school has a new addition to the football staff, Sydney.

Sydney is recently divorced from the police chief and just trying to make her way and take care of her daughter, Paige. She certainly wasn't expecting Jordan.

Immediately, they are both drawn to each other even though things don't start off great. Luckily for Jordan, he has his Mom and brothers to go to for advice.

It also helps that Paige is a huge football fan and wants to be a football player. Sydney's trying to be the best mom she can be so she asks Jordan for help and he starts coaching Paige. That leads to him staying for dinners and for them spending more time together.

And we all know where that leads...but Sydney wants things to be kept quiet while she tries to figure out how to handle things.

There's not a lot of drama between Jordan and Sydney which was nice. The real drama is the ongoing sage between Jordan's family and the Scooters who own the town's distillery.

I was happy to finally get some answers and happy that there wasn't anything too surprising. What I was surprised about was finding out more about Jordan's roots...that was quite the twist.

A wonderful end to a wonderful series. I sure will miss those Becker boys!

I can't believe this series is over. Im going to miss these Becker Boys & their significant others sooo much.. but what a way to end this amazing series.

Kandi saved the most beautiful Becker Brother til last. Jordan Becker is a football coach at the local high school in town. He loves his job and he is good at it. When the school hires Sydney Clark as the teams new athletic trainer Jordan fears this will distract the players rather than help them.

Sydney Clark is a newly divorced single mother who is starting a job in a field she's always dreamed of being successful in. Her first day on the job and she has a less than stellar interaction with her new boss Jordan Becker.

Both are trying to prove something to themselves and to the town. The last thing they are expecting is how much of an impact they will have on each others lives.

Oh. My. Gosh. What a ride this series has been. Jordan was such a strong, sweet, kind, loyal, caring and patient man. Like every other Becker Boy he is so good to his mother and I swooned so hard over him and he is now tied as my favourite brother along side Logan Becker 😍😍

Sydney was so resilient, determined, selfless, loving, an amazing mother but she was also cautious, vulnerable and insecure having just gotten out of a very toxic and horrible relationship. Also Paige, Sydney's daughter, pretty much stole the show. She is amazing and sassy and funny and super confident and I loved everything about her.

Jordan & Sydney together were perfect for each other. It did however take me longer to connect with them as a couple as I feel the progression of their relationship was a little fast for my liking, it started off slow burn with obvious attraction and chemistry but once these two got together things moved real fast until something got in their way. I do think their feelings were genuine towards each other and I love how they worked together to over come their issues it was just that 2 month period they were together were I personally didn't get enough time to really understand their deep feelings before the story shifted to focus more on the running storyline of the boys trying to figure out the truth of what happened to their father the day he died.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED the way that storyline was wrapped up, even though I predicted a lot of what happened and parts of the reason why I still enjoyed how it all played out. There was even one part of the book I could feel coming and when it did I literally fist pumped the air and yelled 'boo yah' thinking thats exactly how its done!!

I loved how neatly everything came together in the end even though there was one other part I did not enjoy but would rather not spoil, those who know me already know what it is 😭😭

I've truly enjoyed this series so much and I'm sad to see it end but ultimately I'm satisfied with this conclusion. Even though all 4 books can be read as standalones I highly recommend reading them in order to get the full Becker Experience

This book is beautiful! It's so different from the others in this series and yet so similar. And I love every piece of it.

With Old Fashioned, Kandi Steiner again proved her ability to create easy to love and adorable characters. You really feel them and for them. You want to hug them, kiss them, hold them and carry them through the storm. But they are more than capable to fight the storm on their own, together.

Even though I loved every piece of it, I had some minor issues here and there with some facts I question. But I guess that's just me who tries to look too hard behind the curtain. ;-)

Nevertheless, I can truthfully say that Old Fashioned is a great conclusion to the Becker Brothers series and I'm kind of sad that we have to leave these gorgeous brothers and their amazing women here.

Love love loved this book. Had everything I liked in a romance book. NOT TOO MUCH DRAMA..
I loved how the romance was kinda realistic in a way i don’t know I just felt that way and I really liked it. I also appreciated how the relationship between the H and the h wasn’t rushed and progressed in an even pace. IMMA SAY LOVED AGAIN but I really did love the whole family aspect in the book AND I CAN’T FORGET Jordan’s relationship with Paige is so CUTE. Jordan is so SWEET. I LOVED HIM HAS A H. Sydney is an amazing mum and great character, her and Jordan really do deserve each other. Alright I’m probably talking a lot but I haven’t read a book I liked this much for this month so IM HAPPY... THE ONLY COMPLAINT I HAVE is that the ending was rushed. From chapter 18 or 19 onwards it began to feel rushed for me but I still enjoyed it. I CRIED AT ONE POINT FOR SYDNEY..... RANDY I HATE YOU!!

#4 Old Fashioned – 3.5 stars

Old Fashioned was in many aspects the best book out of the series.

– the murder mystery was finally solved and not only "oh I discovered father's laptop" and then fading to nothing or " Kylie is trying to hack the passwort" and than fading to nothing
– single parent trope with a feisty, sassy little girl who knows what she wants
– sports romance so a different setting from the previous books
– last book to tie everything together

At the beginning I was really hopeful that this is the book is going to be the one to save this series for me. For a while it was a solid 4 star book because of the different setting with Jordan coaching the highschool football team and I adored Paige, Sydney's daughter. For once I was really invested in these characters but after like 30% I lost interest in the story. AGAIN.

The biggest reason why Kandi Steiner's book can't keep my interest is the way she plots her book. They are basically an open book. Of course I can only talk from my experience, my other friends love this series just fine. What I mean with "open book" is that when I open any of her books, after a few chapters I already know what's going to happen, who's going to be the villain and how the conflict is going to play out. Therefore the book looses it's appeal cuz why keep reading when everything you think is just going to happen without any surprises? The answers are already answered early on, so there's no mystery to keep reading.

– SPOILERS –

For example in Old Fashioned, Sydney described early on that she's divorced from Randy, that he was acting abusive in their relationship and that after the divorce she still feels like a possession to him. Therefore I already know Randy is going to stir shit up between Sydney and Jordan. Randy already thinks that he is in a position of power cause he's the police chief of the town.

I'm glad that we finally got some answers regarding the death of John Becker, but honestly the murder "mystery" was never a mystery to begin with. Since On the Rocks, it was clear that the Becker family already suspected that the death of their father was not an accident. So when it was solved and oh to everyone's surprise (not) that John was murdered, I was already so done with that plotline. The murder should have been solved after Book 2 and not going on for 4 whole ass books. Like how in Noah's book it was mentioned that it was weird that there was not a will where the Becker's would get half of the destillary and then again oh surprise there was actually a will. Literally every thing is already teased from the start that I got so bored reading this series.

But not to shit-talk this whole series which wasn't my point. I was positive surprised when during the confrontation with Patrick Scooter, the info about Jordan's biological parents are leaked.

Everything I liked in the previous books, apply here too. I know this sounds like I'm bashing this book, but it's actually with Neat my favorite in the series. I really love how Kandi writes family and friendship dynamics. The heroes in her story are all respectful men who were raised right. If you're not into the asshole heros than I'd recommend Kandi Steiner's heroes. They are all charming and the perfect husbands-to-be.

The epilogue with all the characters together is pretty amazing. I love scenes with the whole cast together. It was a good way to wrapped up the series neatly.

Don’t take this review too much to heart because I definitely did not give this book the full chance it probably deserved. I don’t think I was super in the mood to read anything when I decided to start this - and it was just the unlucky book that I read when I probably shouldn’t have read anything… but I still made sure to pay attention and think clearly of what was working and not working for me - and with that said… I still didn’t love it - and I think if it was really great than it would have pulled me in… but it didnt... so that’s still saying something.

I found myself pretty bored and not really into the romance. I don’t want to say that it had instant attraction… but there were definitely heavy sparks flying earlier than I would have liked and it was more of a story of watching them be in a relationship, than watching them build one up the whole book (and I always prefer the latter… with more of a slower buildup in general). But to be fair there were still some good foundational building blocks like lots of deep talks and getting to know each other moments… so it wasn’t all bad. Boring for me, but not all bad.

I also feel like it focused heavily on the romance in the first half of the story and then heavily on the overal series mystery in the second half - and I was more invested in seeing the outcome of the mystery than I was the romance… so yea. But I was still surprised by the ending because I wasn’t expecting the second element that was thrown in. Kind of felt like it came out of left field but also made sense so idk what to say about that.

Either way, it was a good ending for the overall series - but for more reasons than I mentioned…it was an underwhelming romance and I was hoping for something a bit more for Jordons love story.

“I think I’m marrying into the best family there is,” Sydney whispered as we watched Mikey attempting to dance with Mom while still playing the guitar. They were laughing, even though Mom was crying, too — and the love and joy surrounding that fire was strong enough to be seen and felt, like a warm blanket or a perfect summer day.
“You’ll make it even better,” I whispered back, and Sydney smiled, her brown eyes shining in the firelight.
Then, I kissed my bride-to-be, whispering that she looked wonderful tonight as I pulled her closer, and knowing I’d be singing those words for years to come.
For an entire lifetime, if I was lucky. And I swore I’d never blink, so as to never miss a single moment of it.

I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS SERIES IS OVER

Old Fashioned was one of my most anticipated books this year and it didn’t disappoint at all. I was really excited to meet Jordan because we didn’t get much info about him in the other books, and I have to say I totally fell in love with him and Sydney. Both Jordan and Sydney are strong characters and witnessing them going from friends to lovers and building the chemistry they had since their first meeting was amazing. Their relationship was perfect, they treated each other with so much respect and were always supporting each other, I fell in love with both of them from the outset.

The plot surrounding the death of the Becker brothers’ father was finally resolved and I was totally not expecting that omg!!!!!!! I’m so happy the whole family can now live at peace with the past.

What I also loved:

- The moments between the Becker brothers and their significant others
- Mallory and Logan’s baby!!!!!!!!!!!
- Paige. I loved her character so much and the moments with her, Jordan and Sydney were gold
- The last chapter and the epilogue!!!!!!!!!

The Becker Brothers is one of my favorite series and I’m sad it’s over, but I couldn’t have imagined a better ending. It was just perfect!

⭐️ 5 "Coach" Stars ⭐️
Old Fashioned was hands down my favorite novel in the Becker Brothers Series. The funny thing is that I didn’t expect to love this story as much as the previous ones, simply because Jordan sounded a little boring to me from what I’d witness. I’m agreeably surprised that not only I adored his story, but he was my favorite of the four brothers! I sincerely loved everything about this lovely romance with just the right amounts of suspense and steaminess!

Jordan is a charismatic man, passionate about his job and has such a beautiful soul. The way he lives and breathes football and inspires his team as a coach is poignant. He’s a man of a few words, but when he speaks his mind it’s impactful! His relationship with Sydney was so amazing and beautiful! Right from the start, their chemistry is magnetic and undeniable! Their work relationship effortlessly turns into a friendship that only becomes so much more when their attraction becomes inevitable and combusting. Sydney is not only a great sports therapist for the high school football team, but a single mom decided to support her little girl’s dreams.

Jordan develops such a sweet and endearing bond with Sydney’s daughter, Paige. They’re both so obsessed with football and he becomes a mentor, a coach and a friend for her. That girl is so funny and adorable. She brought a certain lightness and humor to the storyline!

I was dying to finally uncover all the mystery surrounding the fire at the Scooter Distillery where the Becker patriarch perished year earlier. Some of the revelations were expected, but others left me stunned. Between tears of sadness and joy, smiles and laugh, I was compelled by this story! The brothers have a special connection that I only cherished more.

Old Fashioned exceeded my better hopes and I’m glad Kandi Steiner concluded this must read series on a terrific high! I couldn’t have asked for more!

someday i'm gonna write a proper review, for now i'm just gonna say that this was one of the most heartwarming books that i have read in the last time. and i can't even begin to explain how much i love this series, these stories, these characters. i'm just sad because the series came out in such a short period of time, that i feel like i didn't enjoy it enough and now they're leaving me 🤧.

This was such a great end to this series and I'm so sad to say goodbye to the Becker brothers.

Jordan has always been the mysterious older brother, a man of few words that commands respect when he speaks. I loved finally getting inside his head and getting to know him better. Adopted and biracial in a small country town, Jordan has embraced his differences throughout his life, all while helping raise his three younger brothers after his father passed away. When he meets Sydney, the new athletic trainer for his high school football team, Jordan cannot help but be drawn to her, even though he knows he should stay away from her. Sydney is newly single and a single mom, having recently divorced the police chief. A new relationship, especially with the guy that is technically her boss, is the last thing she needs, but Jordan and Sydney find themselves unable to fight their connection and growing attraction.

With Sydney, it was effortless. I treated her like gold because in my eyes she was. I didn’t have to try to care about her, to put her first, to love her. I did it all because it was as if there was no other choice, and all my life I’d been preparing for this moment with her.

I adored this story so much. It was amazing to be back in this family and getting to spend time with the whole Becker clan, fiancees and girlfriends included. I would definitely recommend reading the series in order as there is an underlying plot throughout but, most importantly, I think the connection and emotions with all of the supporting characters wouldn't be the same otherwise. I loved seeing Sydney and her nine-year-old daughter, Paige, welcomed into the family and how seamlessly they fit in. The relationship between Jordan and Paige was adorable and definitely one of my favorite in this entire series.

Sydney and Jordan go through a lot. Sydney has a difficult past but came out of it stronger than ever. Jordan and his brothers are still piecing together the mystery of their father's death, which all comes to a head. I do think it was a little OTT and maybe not entirely realistic but emotionally, I was right there with the characters. Kandi just has a way of making you feel everything the characters do and this was no different. I loved how everyone came together to right this wrong and how they stopped at nothing to find out what truly happened to their father. The bonds in this family are unreal, seriously.

“Where did you come from?” His voice was just a whisper, and yet I felt it deep within me like he’d screamed to the world.
“Just finished my walk through hell.”
“Does that make this purgatory?” he asked on a smirk.
I smiled, too, reaching up to press my lips to his. “I think that makes this heaven.”

What really got me emotionally was that fking ending. Omg, talk about tears and smiles and more tears. That was the best HEA for this family and everything I could've ever wanted. I'm going to miss these wonderful Becker brothers so incredibly much and cannot wait to reread the series one day to experience this journey again.

Book 1: On the Rocks → 4.5 Stars
Book 2: Neat → 4 Stars
Book 3: Manhattan → 4 Stars

OH MY GOD!!!!! This was amazing!!!

I read the first 3 books in the series in January and have since then fallen in love with the Becker Brothers. I loved the connection they had with each other, as well as how I wish every man in real life had half the respect for people (and specially women!!!) that these 4 men have not just with their significant others but with anyone else. I also fell in love with their lady loves, the romance, the small town setting which is a favorite of mine, to the surprise of no one, and lastly the side plot regarding their father that has been built up in this series since the very first book.

I have been anxiously awaiting Jordan’s book since I caught up with the other 3, and he already intrigued me a lot since the very first book. He reminded me a little bit of a few other characters I hold dear to my heart. He was the oldest, as well as the quiet one. But throughout the series you see how much his younger brother rely on him for advice, which I really enjoyed reading about. I really loved the moments in each and every single book where he talks to them about their love problems or just overall problems, and helps them with clearing their head and with doing the right thing.

When the synopsis for this came out, as well as the cover, I think my excitement grew tenfold. That’s why as soon as this beauty showed up on my kindle, I dropped everything else I was reading to start it. And I was captivated from the very first chapter.

I fell in love with Sydney fast, as well as with Paige. If I’m being quite honest, Paige stole the show in this. She was just adorable and funny, and she put the biggest smile on my face whenever she talked. She was so sassy, so smart for her age, and I knew after the first time we met her that she would be one of my favorite things about this book, and I wasn’t wrong!

Going back to Sydney though, she was an incredible character. I think she might’ve surpassed Kylie and became my favorite female character in this series! I just loved how strong she was, her growth throughout the book was beautiful to read and by the end I was just so proud of her for standing up for herself and for what was right. She works in a world dominated by men but she stands her ground and doesn’t let anyone talk sh*t. she is a BADASS.

Just like Sydney, I think Jordan just became my favorite Becker after this. I loved him so much. He was patient and kind and thoughtful and so respectful. The way he treated Paige and believed in her ability to become a football player after talking to her ONCE, and gave up his free time to coach her just warmed my heart. Like Sydney I fee like he went through an amazing character growth and really learned so much as the story progressed. He was talented, and I loved reading about him coaching because, funnily enough, even though I know he is a fictional character, I could feel his passion for what he did emanating from the pages, from his speeches to this team, and from the way he talked about football.

It’s no surprise then, considering Sydney and Jordan are now my two favorite characters in this series, that their romance is also my favorite. I couldn’t stop reading the book because I just wanted to get to every scene that they shared and devour it. Their chemistry was to die for. From their very first scene and in every scene that followed, they had me completed absorbed in their relationship and their love for one another. I loved watching their relationship grow, and I loved watching Jordan and Paige bond as well as the moments when Sydney was with the Becker family!

Lastly, the mystery that has been building up since the first book was finally wrapped in this and I’ve been this storyline so much, and it was so satisfying to see it coming to an end in such a great way. Some of the plot twists by the end made me go WHAT???? multiple times, and I love when that happens because I feel like I always see everything coming haha!

Overall this was a winner and I’m so happy that the last book in the series was one I loved so much. It’s always great when the last book exceeds expectations, but it’s even better when it becomes your favorite. Kandi did the Becker family justice with this final book, and although I’ll miss these brothers so much, I was so satisfied to see them all get the happy ever after they rightfully deserved.

Thank you to Kandi Steiner and Social Butterfly PR for providing me an advanced e-arc of this beautiful book!

Old Fashioned is the final book in the Becker Brother series. It’s available to read March 19th and if you’ve kept up with this series you don’t want to miss this one! In this book we finally get Jordan’s story! I understand now why she saved him for last! This is his love story with Sydney (the police chief’s ex wife). We also get discover what really happened with the Becker brother’s dad’s death!

❤️Review❤️

I finished this book hours ago and it’s still hard for me to write this review. This series starts with Noah’s story in On The Rocks. After reading that book I didn’t think any of the other books in the series would be able to top it because I loved Noah and Ruby Grace so much. Well when I’m wrong, I say I’m wrong. (Name that movie!) Old Fashioned is my new favorite. I connected with it like no other book I’ve read before. I don’t know if it’s because Jordan is a football coach and my husband coached football or because now I’m a mom my heart broke for Sydney’s situation. Doesn’t matter why, all I do know is this story broke me. I cried sad tears, angry tears, frustrated tears, and happy tears. This is one amazing series. I love how Kandi Steiner was able to wrap up the story for all 4 brothers in such a perfect way! The love story was beautiful and the mystery of their father’s death was explosive! I thought it was going to be possibly predictable, but Kandi found a way to turn it into something none of us saw coming. If you haven’t read this series yet, you need to!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “But, isn’t that the risk we take with everything? If all we did was play it safe… would that really be living at all?”✨
.
If you enjoy:
•Sports romance
•Workplace romance
•Small southern towns
•Mystery
•Dual POV
Then this could be the book for you!✨
.
Can we do this backwards and just talk about that epilogue for a minute? It is fantastic. It is up there with my all time favorites. It is written so beautifully it will have you smiling and tearing up at the same time. What an incredibly moving end of the series. Couldn’t have asked for better!✨
.
The entire book have you a major case of the feels! Jordan is the strong, silent type. Fantastic coach and true gentleman. Sydney is strong. Finally following her dreams as an athletic therapist. After being held back by a controlling ex-husband. Though things get off to rocky start, they can’t deny the chemistry there for long.✨
.
But it’s not smooth sailing for these two. I felt like the twists and turns in this story came at just the right moments. Making this an easy, well paced read! The mystery throughout the series finally gets solved here and it’s twisty. Oh and Paige! I really enjoyed Paige’s character. That child was a firecracker and she really made this story that much more enjoyable!✨
.
This was coming of age. About a woman saying no more to a controlling man. About a woman working and a child playing sport in a ‘mans world’. About the love of a family and the dynamics of adoption. It had a great feeling of perseverance I enjoyed!✨

I received an ARC for my honest review.✨

The epic finale of the Becker Brothers series is here and you will want to read it!

So far I loved all the Becker Brothers but Jordan‘s story was one of a kind. It was sweet, angsty and a whole lot emotional. Every now and then you get hit with a different emotion, especially the last 20% of the book had me on the edge of my seat and tears in my eyes.

Jordan and Sydney were meant for eachother. Both of them had to fight for who they are and what they want.

After years of being a stay at home mom to a sassy 9 year old, Sydney finally get‘s a chance to work at her dreamjob as a athletic trainer, where she meets Jordan the head coach of the highschools football team. Sydney has to prove herself in a men‘s world and she does! Jordan on the other hand doesn‘t really know where he belongs as one if the few colored people in the town and as an adoptive Becker son. I loved finding out more about the dynamic in the Becker family and I loved how Kandi incorporated alot of diversity to her story and show some struggles of being a diversity in a small town.

Most of all I wanted to know what happened to Papa Becker 10 years ago and we finally found out.. And it was emotional and twisted. I did not think it would be like that. Kandi really surprised me and there were no clues throughout any book of why it happened that way. We all knew who was behind it but not the real reason why he did it.

I love this series so much! Kandi is just an amzib author and she knows how to captivate the readers who come for the small town romance and stay for the mystery and family bond!

5/5🥃

"It turned out, our scarred hearts beat in the same rhythm. And without a word being exchanged, we both sighed because we knew that now, they'd never have to beat alone."

I really enjoyed this series, except The Wrong Game this was my introduction to the author. I enjoyed this one, but not as much as the other books in the series. It felt like the romance was almost the secondary plot, while the mystery was at the core. And even if from a side it makes sense since this is the conclusion, it also didn't give me the feelings I hoped to feel.
I also think that the solution was pretty obvious but I didnt expect some twists so overall I was okay with it.
I really appreciate when important themes are being discussed in books, especially when they're done correctly and with respect.
It included so many topics: different kind of abuse, the corruption of people in power, being black and growing up in a white family, not being enough white or enough black. But also the disparity between men and women in the sport business (or really, anywhere else!)
I adore how this family went from being broken and hurt to finding justice, love and people to share everything with. I am a sucker for found families, so, yeah. 1000 points to slytherin for this!
Overall it was really a really nice and fun series, I absolutely recommend it to anyone who likes small town romances.

PS: Paige was the best part of the book, hands down!

I also wanted to shout out Kandi for her last note about diversity because it really warmed my heart and she's right and she should absolutely say it:

"Writing diversity is important to me. I believe we live in a beautiful and diverse world and that any chance I get to represent a culture different than my own is a privilege."
And then she went giving recommendations of WOC authors to check out! So huge huge appreciation for this. Kudos!

TAKE MY WHOLE HEART KANDI STEINER!! IT'S YOURS!

One thing you CAN'T say about a Steiner book? "Meh, I didn't really feel anything" because YOU. WILL. FEEL. EVERYTHING!!

This is so bitter sweet because if I'm being completely honest I could read about the Becker Brothers forever this is the last installment of the Becker Brothers series and it has been so so hard!! I mean I feel like we just met Noah and now we're at the end of an era. ( someone hold me )

Old Fashioned is sweet and romantic. It's also heartbreaking and majorly intense with revelations you won't see coming and answers to the questions we've been dying to know! Sydney is fierce and strong and brave! Jordan is a sexy gentleman who always tries to do the right thing and is incredibly loyal.

I can see myself re reading this series again and again because I know I'm going to miss these boys and their families so badly, that's just the kind of books Kandi writes, they stick with you long after the last word.
