When Salvatore Adruccio finished his time in the military, he moved on to a life of good friends, cold drinks, and hot men. His job as a bouncer at Bronco's is fun and drama-free, at least until sexy but secretive server Elliot Hastings catches his eye.
On the run and in possession of evidence that could expose his stepfather for the dangerous and powerful criminal he is, Elliot doesn’t want to draw anyone else into his troubles. But when a thug catches up to him and Salvatore fends him off, he decides Elliot needs his help, even if he won’t admit it. Attraction quickly heats into passion, but Elliot is wary of commitment when he might have to drop everything and run at any moment. The only way they can be together in all the ways they want is to take out the threat posed by Elliot’s stepfather and his underworld ties.
I'm sad that this is the last book in the Bronco Boys series. Of course, there are always rereads, which I'm good at, and lots more Andrew Grey books waiting to be read. I really like how the guys are never completely able to let go of their mercenary past and skills. This story about Elliott and Salvatore is another great addition to the series. It's packed with action, twists and turns, and amazing characters. Fingers crossed, Mr. Grey, how about more stories in this series. I would love to read Carson's. All of this author's books have a very clever plot and a happy ever after ending. Every aspect of the story is well researched and very true to life. He never disappoints.
One of the wonderful things about this series is the covers--some of them are gay adult films stars (according to author Grey in a confirmation e-mail to me). Also most of the books bring together one of those very big and masculine men with a much younger, smaller and totally innocent man who needs protection.
In this case it's early 30s ex-army and now Bronco Bar bouncer Salvatore on the cover and the early 20s Elliot who is his protectorate, so to speak--read the blurb to get the essence of the plot.
What I loved about this book besides a very clever plot is the authenticity author Grey brings to every aspect of the story. For example, Salvatore is an Italian-American from Philadelphia whose mother runs a small restaurant there, and a visit by he and Elliot brings out all the perfection of how that cultural part of Salvatore should be conveyed. In addition, Elliot's tales of living in Pittsburgh under the clamp of his corrupt stepfather reflects a certain corporate self-indulgence of that city which is not often portrayed.
In any case, Mr. Grey has given us another splendidly intimate romance within the context of a splendidly woven plotline. The result leaves us smiling at the way he has developed a family of men in Harrisburg (ironically, the state capital midway between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh). This reader hopes the family will expand just as soon as Mr. Grey finds another seriously hot man to grace another cover. LOL.
I think I read somewhere that this is the last of the series and I have to say, I’m kind of sad about it. I’ve grown to love these guys and all the different personalities that come with them all. The way they’ve been through stuff, but they’ve fought and stuck it out and came out better for it. They’ve proven time and time again that those that are often thought weak have become the strongest of all and the survivors. Not to say that Bull and the ‘alphas’ of the bunch haven’t had their share of horror stories that leave them with nightmares. But there’s just something about them all. And they proved, true change can happen with anyone, and you can teach an old dog new tricks. In this story, Salvatore, one of Bull’s security and ex-military and black ops, finds the man of his dreams. But there’s something off about Elliot and he wants to know more. And what he doesn’t expect, is that it’s come to their front door awful fast and Elliot is ready to run again. And after being there only a week, Sal knows something is very wrong. As everyone teams up to show Elliot they have his back, Elliot reveals what he knows and what he’s done. He’s stolen important information from his step-father and doesn’t know who to trust. Because he’s just found out that even his friends have betrayed him. But the ultimate betrayal comes when he finds out there’s a hit out on his life and the one person he never thought would turn on him, did. So Elliot is trying to hold it together while his life is falling apart and Sal is trying to hold him together for all he’s worth. But it’s up to Elliot to decide whether to fight or flee. And Sal hopes it results in him staying put with him. You know, I know this is a fictional story, but it truly never ceases to amaze me the gall and evil that some people are. And as cynical as I am, that’s saying a lot. Because even though this story is fiction, there’s a lot of truth to it in this world we live in. I feel for Elliot. I feel for Sal too in what he had to go through. Being in the military was no picnic for him either and it left it’s scars. Thankfully Sal had help to overcome a lot of his and learn his triggers and now he’s trying to pay it forward to Elliot. Only with Elliot, his motives are a little more selfish as he truly wants to get to know the young man. The one man that has captured his heart like no other. And he’s been in love before. But to him, Elliot is everything and the right thing to do, even if he didn’t care for Elliot, is to take these guys out. Because Elliot isn’t the only one being hurt. But again, it’s a story that shows that those considered weak are the ones that are strong and come out ahead. And Elliot proved more than once, he was far from weak. I’m so sad this is the end. But it’s good to leave on a high note. These boys found family where they thought they had none. They found hopes and dreams where they thought all were shattered. They picked themselves up and with a little love and help, they fought and survived. Not only survived, but thrived. I’m glad I got the chance to read this series. It’s truly been an adventure.
This was an intense read. Salvatore and Elliott have just met when things get hit and heavy, and not in a good way. The support of all the Bronco couples is the only way they survive.
Above and Beyond is the last book in the Bronco Boys series. I put off reading it because this has to be one of my favorite series, from the first time Zach giggled every time Bull touch him to search him before he and his friends got into the club. But I found it on my Kindle and decided to open it. It was everything that Andrew Gray writes, all the feels were in this book. Salvador Adruccio is every man’s dream, built like a brick ship, ex black ops, and focused on Elliot Hastings who is running. Elliot’s stepfather is crime boss in Pittsburg, PA, and has to control everything and everyone around him. Elliot knows he has to get out. He copies some paperwork, and runs, right to Harrisburg, PA and Bronco’s. In the course of this book, as they look for ways to bring Elliot’s stepfather down and keep Elliot safe, (Bull and Spook are in their element of course) Elliot is trying to come to terms with his new life, separating from his old and learn how to live with the fact his mom isn’t the same woman she was before she got married. Salvador and he are in the car, on the way to see Salvador’s mom, whom he has a great relationship with, that Elliot realizes that if he and his mom weren’t related, he wouldn’t even like her. They never would have been in the same circles, wouldn’t even have been friends. I had to stop reading at this point, tears, somehow, someway, Mr. Gray had put into words my exact thoughts and feelings I had fought with about my own mother. The story ends the next year at Thanksgiving. Everybody is there, at Sal and El’s house getting ready to celebrate. Bull and Zack are running late, when Elliot opens the door Bull is holding a car seat with a little baby. Oh, what a way to end the series! I had to stop for a few more tears here. Five stars all the way. This book is a must have if you have been reading the series. You have to finish it with this one. And if you haven’t been reading the series, why not? Start NOW! You can’t wait one more minute to meet these guys.
Salvatore is the guy in this book and he falls for Elliot who is on the run from his step dad who apparently has his hands in a lot of stuff but the one that uncover is prescription drugs.
Most of the book is Elliot trying to stay a step ahead though some of those times he is found but he has his friends at the club to help him out.
I really enjoyed this romance and it's kind of bittersweet cuz it's wonderful romance and this book was epic and thankfully they came out on top of everything but it's the last book in the series. I am going to miss these and the best part was actually near the end when we get to see Bull and Zack going to adopt a baby that was actually my favorite part and of course Buster the dog.
I don't know how far apart this takes place from book five. I did wish that there was more involved with the main four couples Kevin wasn't even in it until like the end I think except for maybe for one little part at the beginning.
Spook is awesome and he definitely helped as always I'm glad that him and Bull and all of them worked out the differences that they had in the beginning of the series.
I'm also glad that Elliot gets to choose his new family with Salvatore his mom and Salvatore's new stepdad. That Thanksgiving dinner with everybody seems to be wonderful. Another great book and series.
I also used this for buzzword of month cause above is a direction.
Above and Beyond is another great story in this series. We have yet another strong, protective man and another younger smaller man (which is my favorite trope) yet Elliot is far from a weakling (though in the beginning, he is pretty scared and jittery though he has reasons.) Elliot is on the run from his evil stepfather and trouble finds him working in Broncos. Instead of running again the men talk him into confiding and letting them help. The story shows solidarity and friendship. It is sort of slow burn as the heat doesn't escalate till a little past the middle so it doesn't override the story. There is a lot of heart and feeling and I loved Sal's mom. We get to see most of the couples again which was fun too especially Spook since he was one of my favorites. now I did have a couple of small issues. there were a few things mentioned that seemed disconnected from the book like Elliot's friend Traynor, even his mom and a friend that comes right in Sal's house (why did he have a key and they mentioned an outing that never happens?) Having said that I still enjoyed the story, If you like ex-military/special ops men, age gap, big men-small men, protectors, slow-burn and an allover hot romance this is for you
One of the things I love most about Andrew Grey's books are the heart, and this one definitely has a lot of heart! Sal and Elliot are great characters, so very loveable and I really enjoyed their story and how it all played out! There was action and romance and it was a great ride.
Elliot is on the run, trying to get away from his awful stepfather. He finds a nice job working as a waiter at Broncos and is trying to lay low. Unfortunately for him, that doesn't last long, but fortunately, he has protective Sal immediately on his side. They offer Elliot the chance to stay and be protected and possibly fight whatever is going on with his stepfather.
As I said, I really liked these characters and I thought they were great together. I thought they had a really great connection, even as they work through Elliot's situation. I also really enjoyed that this story kept me guessing, waiting to see how it would all play out. Elliot and Sal really seemed to bring out the best in each other, they are just adorable together. I also adored Sal's mom and what she brought to the story, it was the perfect addition. Overall, another very enjoyable read from Andrew Grey!
Hot guys, death threats, and more all come together in this sweet gay romance from Andrew Grey. If you’ve read his other books, you know there’s always going to be an issue, and a HEA ending that leaves you with a smile.
What I liked: Both Elliot and Sal are good characters and I loved Sal’s mom. Actually, I liked all the characters. The men from the bar where Elliot works are the kind you want to have at your back.
What I didn’t like: The ending seemed almost rushed and over too quickly. It worked, but it did seem to be over very quickly.
Recommendation: This is a good story with a HEA that satisfies. For a quick read with thugs, passion, and more, pick this one up.
Another home run from Andrew. The man knows how to tell an emotional story. Another one read in just a day. Emotional, heart racing, and the suspense will keep you on the edge of your seat!!
Can Salvatore save Elliot?? Elliot is on the run from his Step father, who will stop at nothing to get Elliot back under his controlling thumb. Who can Elliot trust? And will their love still be there when Elliot no longer needs protection?
Why did his fri nd sell him out, then call crying? Did Elliot ever make up with him or cut him out of his life without hearing him out? What about his mother? Did she go down with the stepfather? Did she come to her senses about what a scumbag he was? Did the stepfather even go down or did he weasel out of everything? Why did the stepfather even think he could get away with kidnapping? Ok, more than a couple of questions left unanswered, but overall a quick feel good read.
Awesome. I love this series. I was so excited last year when I found out Mr. Grey had decided to start adding to his Bronco's Boys series. I have heard that this was going to be the last one but I will have hope that he might write more. We thought the first 4 was all there was going to be and we ended up with 6. Fingers crossed that maybe there could be more. If not than it was still an awesome series.
You really can't go wrong with Bronco's Boys. I read this one and went back to the beginning and reread the (still my favorite) first one. Grey's characters live and breathe and are a perfect mix of salt and sweet. I'll read every last one of these books as long as the author turns them out.
this was a lot of fun. sexy and interesting.. action packed and emotions were everywhere.. it was scorching and hott.. it was fun and kept me interested. i really liked it.
3.5 Stars ~ I am exceedingly pleased that I was wrong about this series only lasting for four books and simply focusing on the best friends, Zach, Jeremy, Tristan, and Kevin’s journeys of love. Book five focused on Hank and Grant, the bartender and head waiter respectively, and I loved that the author gave them such a wonderful love story. Now in ‘Above and Beyond’, book six in the series, the author is once again focusing on a member of the bar’s staff: Salvatore, ex-military, ex-black ops, and current bouncer for Bronco’s, along with Elliot a waiter who was just hired a week before but seems to be hiding from some serious sh*t.
