The Henderson Twins have been a plague on Brooklyn for years. Flooding the city with drugs and guns, they might possibly be head of the most powerful criminal organization on the east coast. After 12 years, Skylar has finally made it into his dream job as an FBI agent. His first mission: take down the Henderson Twins. When he goes undercover to do just that, he discovers there’s more to the twins than just corruption and chaos. And though the twins are like night and day, he finds himself drawn to them both. He finds himself caring for them both. But nothing comes before the mission. Skylar’s duty is to the law, and he’d never let anything compromise that, not even his heart... would he?
This was okay story. It's shortish, steamy and mildly angsty. I can't say I liked Patrick, one of the twins, the boss of the whole operation. I don't really know why I needed his POV, I could already see how much of an a$$hole he was. Paddox, his brother, was a bit kinder and softer. Not that it was a bad thing, but I wished he'd stood up for himself. He just let things be while complaining at the same time how bad it was for him. Skylar, the undercover agent, is okay character. I liked his determination and ingenuity but at the same time after professing his work ethics and hatred for the twins he falls for Paddox way too fast.
There was plenty of steam here. I tried to pin point what annoyed me. It was the fact that besides these three characters there was nobody else who stood out as secondary character. I like connections, maybe small subplot here and there or just couple of diverse characters to liven up the story. This was missing from the book. BTW, there is cheating. My pet peeve trope. It was not in the warnings on Amazon, and the way it was done and the person involved made me dislike it even more. I could have stomached it if it was anybody else but that person. And, come one, no one goes undercover without changing their name at least partially, and such as Skylar would trip every single warning possible. It irked a lot. It ends on a major cliffhanger. I will probably read the next book out of sheer curiosity. But what I can say is I don't care about the characters or how and with whom they are going to end up with. I didn't get invested into them at all.
DNF 15% 3 chapters in and the editing is a bit of a mess. Several times now the narrator has used their own name instead of their twins. Unless they are constantly referring to themselves in the third person, in which case I’ll apologise, it’s pretty annoying.
That being said the story or characters haven’t really grabbed me. Gonna put this one down.
Wow, what a ride! Bring on the next book! This is a compelling story with very interesting characters populating it. I cannot wait for the next book. I keep going to read more of this amazing book I was reading only to realize it’s over and I have to wait for the next part. We don’t have to wait much longer though! I'm glad I knew going in that there would be a cliffhanger. I love love love Paddox so much! It goes to show, even the bad can be so very good.
Normally, judging by the blurb, this would not be my kind of book, at all. Crime lords MCs and multiple trigger warnings (violence and cheating, especially)? No, no, no, no, no, no. But.. the story is really good and so are the characters. I've liked that the author did not try to portray the twins as good misunderstood heroes or make excuses for their behavior. They had a rough childhood, yes, and we hear their self justifications for their choices, but it does not redeem them in any meaningful way. So Skylar's moral dilemma is real and not magically solved. Obviously the erotica aspect is well written and you can really get why these characters are drawn to each other despite being so different. It's not just physical attraction. The story also raises interesting issues about the nature of good evil and the complexity of it all. We are not forcibly led to specific answers and left to form our opinion by ourselves. The one aspect of the plot which was a bit dodgy is that Skylar does not suit this undercover mission at all, despite his fighting prowess and lack of care about risking his life.
Skylar, an undercover FBI agent, gets more than he bargained for with his assignment investigating the Henderson twins, suspected of being the top drug and gun dealers in the city. As the story progresses connections are made, he digs further down the hole, and finds that once things are in motion he may not be able to stomach the consequences. H.Q. Kingsley’s Twin Tango is a nice way to spend some time but does end in a cliffhanger. Reader discretion advised due to dark subject matter and/or possible triggers that the author mentions prior to the start of the book.
I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
So this is a cute little story completely different from what I had in mind. I thought it was gonna be a story where both twin pick up guys together, but it was completely different. The setting up of the story was really good but it felt rushed after Skyler met Paddox. I kinda liked Patrick more, Paddox is a bit too mushy for me. Also towards the end, Skyler was a bit all over the place. Especially when it came to the twins. I’m still gonna read the second book though, the story is nice overall.
They might be twins but they’re polar opposites in the best ways. Tik is always in control. He’s also closed off and abrasive. Tok is softer, more vulnerable and there’s something about him that makes me want to hug him. Their contrasting personalities are what makes them so sexy and this book so hot. Although they both get under Skylar’s skin, he affects them just as much. I really like how we get to experience the different sides to Skylar and I can’t wait to see how it all plays out.
H Q Kingsley opens our eyes to the world of Skylar, a handsome undercover FBI agent, who goes deep into a world owned by a set of beautiful twin brothers, known as Tik and Tok.
This world could break a man, and the emotions that entangle Skylar in the job he was sent to do make his feelings for both brothers as dangerous as it can get.
Twin Tango is part one of the series and we anxiously await the continuation of The Cop and the Criminals with Twin Trouble.
Twin Tango is the first book in The Cop & the Criminals series by H Q Kingsley. Exciting, suspenseful, steamy.... this story grabbed my attention and held on. I wasnt sure how it would all play out and couldnt wait to find out.
Patrick, Paddox and Skylar are intriguing characters. Skylar is the undercover agent who is willing to do anything to get close and crack open the case. Paddox is strong but has a softer side, one that yearns for more than the life he built with his twin. Patrick is the tougher twin, the one who needs power. Their interactions had me glued to the pages.
This story was exciting and enjoyable and now I'm sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for the next book because its left of a cliffhanger. Book two, come soon please!

Exciting and well thought through story with interesting characters. As it ends on a cliffhanger, I look froward to seeing what more can happen! The plot was really captivating. A good opening the author will hopefully develop further in sequels.
