Rate this book

"Get to the cabin."

The words of Katrina’s father echo in her mind. One sentence, her sole purpose. Her dad taught her to be prepared and they always had a bug out plan. If the world goes down the drain, get to the cabin...

Katrina should have been alone but she couldn’t leave her friends behind. The five teenagers escape from the fallout shelter and journey through the desert to get to the safe house in the mountains. Except they can’t run from Project Dandelion because they are Project Dandelion. The government’s attempt to save humanity after a global nuclear war.

As the teens struggle to survive this post-apocalyptic world, Katrina learns things aren’t always what they seem and people can’t always be trusted.

YA Post Apocalyptic Dystopian

Project Dandelion : Reentry was another addictive addition to this series. Once I started it, there was no other choice but to finish it in one sitting. Carson seems to be good at that!

This installment takes off right where book 1 left off- we follow the 5 characters that were selected to survive with a group of other teenagers in an underground government fallout shelter when the world fell apart during a nuclear war. Now they are running away from the shelter and the society that the remaining kids built.

The plan is just getting started!

Really enjoyed this one! I’m a sucker for all things survival. It’s cool to read how smart these kids are and how they are portrayed. I liked the way the plot was set up. It was another exciting easy read and kept me glued to my kindle needing to know what happened next, with the way this one ended, I can’t wait to see how it all wraps up!

Once again, I read this book in one day and I honestly loved it. It was interesting to see some of the world and have some questions answered!! I liked seeing the true horrors of the real world come to life (does this sound weird?) around these kids. It was all plausible and that’s honestly terrifying.

I really enjoyed Katrina and was so glad that we didn’t have to deal with certain characters (as much) in this book. Their whole journey was so interesting and it was great to see how things change during their time underground.

The ending made me want to read more though, so I’m excited to see if there ends up being more to come!

Carson’s writing has definitely improved significantly and I loved seeing that progression as well.

I adore the side characters in this series. Mia and Dreya both have so much spunk and I like seeing their connection. And the boys- James and Jayden are the best.

I will say that it was too short, I would have loved and devoured this even if it was 400 pages instead of 200.

This story was full of drama and intrigue from start to finish. What a elaborate cast of interesting characters of strong characters. Especially a strong female lead. I couldn’t put the book down until I read the very last page! I’m hoping there will be another to follow up!!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Awesome series ,couldn't put it down

This is virtually same review in wrote for the first Nd last book with some stuff erased. Around 4am I was once again trying to get through a game of thrones. This was my 4th try reading it, one of which was the Audible version. Think Monty python and the holy trail except with 30+ characters you've never heard of in the first few pages. Couldn't do it. Now I've seen the show and the book was a much easier read but after hrs of trying to needed something liter to help my insomnia. Don't get me wrong, I was a bit late to it but I do love a game of thrones and house of dragon,or whatever they called it. Great shows. Will read books soon and plan to enjoy.
Last night I needed something that was a little more relatable, some fun and I usually love creatures but figured the apocalypse thing would fill in more my creatures. I've had this book,I am actually reviewing the series as I don't have the patience to wait before starting book 2 if I like the series. So here we are. Will try to copy it to the other three of I don't ruin anything.I honestly couldn't remember why I had some war book on my kindle unlimited list but decided worst case was id fall asleep. Nope. I read them all. I like books that are different, not the same or copies like they came from a mold. This book reminded me of a few books I've liked but was different. I liked the characters. I loved hoe the authors spent the time having us get to know how Katrina and her dad plus several others think. I like how we got to watch as the kids formed opinions about other people they met too. I would have given this another star except for two reasons and ill get there in a second. The world building was done well, thorough and characters reappear. I felt I knew these kids and to a lesser degree the adults they come across. This series was very well written and I truly enjoyed jt. Never heard of this author and that is how I find my favorites. Some of those indie authors no-one had ever heard of in 2014-2017 now have multiple best sellers. Seriously. I did arc and beta reading for them a long time ago and now they are famous. I get Xmas cards to. At least two became best friend years after j was reading both authors books and doing arc reading for each and later they met somewhere and became friends. Happened to a few but those are close. So I apologize for waiting to review as I know it helps. I don't want to give away too much but these books are definitely worth the read. They are YA books and I am 42. Still loved them. But that does get to the few things I didn't give perfect stars for. The first is honestly prob because of them being YA. They were too short. Each book alone too simple. The world, characters, plot all of it was great but as it is a YA book, that's prob why they seemed to be missing something at the end of the book and that was more book. There were a couple of things I didn't understand, esp in the last book.don't want to ask these questions as ill give away stuff but its stuff my curious, cynical mind couldn't figure out. An example is like the group think mentality in book 1, real life studies done on that in Stanford and it got so bad they stopped it early. I have a psych degree so I got that easily but to kids and others without the knowledge I have, it is explained several times well what is happening. I like that. But in book 4, there are some things I didn't feel were explained and thought it might help to tell the author what I didn't get just in case it helped,I left a vague idea of it in book 4 review. UT its to help and if its just me ignore me please and more on. I know I am over analyzing things as I do that a lot. But if it can be used to help, that would be grear. But I am naturally not trusting of characters or people and watching for betrayal in books beforehand. So prob dealt witb. Plus againYA book.I really liked this series, recommend it and plan to read the other one next on the list now. I still loved the books and I'm glad I found them. I still think people who love all diff genres of.books and people of all.ages will like this series.probably need to the at least 10 or older though. I read weird stuff as kid so preferably older really. But I will be reading more of these, thank you for the new work you put in for our entertainment. I truly appreciate it and enjoyed it.hard to.type.on my kindle, sorry for typos.wish I'd read this sooner.

Not just a bunch of dumb kids.

After reading the first PD, I was interested to see what more Katrina and the gang could do. Where the first book takes place within the confines of the bunker, book 2 takes us to the surface, and that's where it gets wild!

The kids wander, driven by one goal which is to get to Katrina's dads prepper cabin. Along the way, the kids run into rogue mercenaries, good Samaritans that take them in, and more. It's truly an expansion of an already interesting world.

Lark. Let me talk about this kid from book one, without getting too involved with book 2 spoilers. In short, I've never been as angry at a character from a story before. Thats says a lot. Most of the time, the selfish and arrogant troublemakers tend to get "handled" by the close of the story. This kid keeps gaining more and more traction. I can only hope he gets his comeuppance in book 3.

Regarding the writing, there is a huge shift in the writing style in some ways. More expanded and detailed, yet, remains easy to read. Carson does a wonderful job with expanding her world very well.

I had the audiobook version. Carson managed to have the same narrator for consistency, which I can always appreciate. Stacey Glemboski captures the sound and mood of each character, she manages to paint a vivid picture with her voice. A+ for the narrator, whom I'd assume is doing book 3 as well.

Overall: what a book! A post apocalyptic dystopian that doesn't deal with zombies, radioactive monsters, or Eldredge gods wreaking havoc on the world. Instead, its "us." The humans that inhabit it already. Before, during, and after the world is destroyed. That makes for a more telling tale. I highly recommend it for your young adults, or anyone who loves these types of stories.

In Project Dandelion: Reentry, author Heather Carson once again brings us a captivating tale of post-apocalyptic survival. This story picks up where Book 1 left off. Katrina, along with friends James, Mia, Dreya, and Jayden, race to a hideout in the mountains prepared by Katrina's father. In leaving the safety of the shelter behind, they have no idea what kind of danger awaits them in this post-nuclear fallout world. Nonetheless, the teens escape their bunker, seemingly prepared for anything that awaits them in this new world. Only, there are some things no one, especially teens who have been hidden underground for two weeks, could anticipate.

While the story may, at first, seem familiar to those who have read through the canon of young adult dystopian fiction, Carson's well-researched and fresh perspective brings this soon-to-be trilogy on the level of those *ahem* other well-known and often overplayed stories. In Katrina, she has created a strong female protagonist who is a strong-willed, natural leader who is as nurturing and kind as she is fierce, especially when it comes to standing up for freedom.

𝐈 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝𝐧’𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠. The second installment of this series was so good! I literally couldn’t stop reading this book! The only reason I did is because I fell asleep in bed — no joke!
𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝. No, rather I was shocked. I would not have guessed where the story line was headed and I love when authors can blindside their readers like that. I was happy with where she was leading the story and figured there would be some bumps in the road but had no idea where the story was headed! She did such a good job with the plot.
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭. I truly love the characters in this book and felt I could connect with them. I also liked how the story is really adult themed with adult problems (nuclear apocalypse) but it’s intertwined with high school-aged issues. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I received a free audio copy of this book directly from the author for an honest review.

I finished the first book and had to jump right into the second book despite having other books to listen and review this is how much I loved this book (series), shh I also binged the third book too. I love how the characters interact and the questions and answers that are provoked within this book. I actually felt this could happen which makes the whole thing both more freaky in a omg I hope it never does sense and also that much more engaging as you just find yourself willing the characters on to succeed!

I both love and hate that this was so short love as it meant I could devour it so fast and it means when you just want that short listen that totally gets you through those boring jobs it’s perfection! Then again I just didn’t want it to end. 😂

Does making connections with others make you responsible for them? To them?

Katrina was raised to take care of herself. She spent her life training in survival. She had only her father for family and no friends. When you spend most of your time in mountain solitude it's hard to meet anyone to befriend. But being thrown together with others near her age in an underground shelter changed all that. Now she has a chosen family to take care of.

The question is, can they escape the facility for a second time?

My mantra while listening to the audiobook was, “get to the cabin, get to the cabin”. I’m enjoying this series so much!! The story feels so real...everything that the group encounters through their trek is something that could very well happen in real life. The narrator, Stacey does a fabulous job portraying Katrina, and the other characters. The voice, and tones are all pleasing. Enjoyable story and I finished it the same day. If your a fan of dystopian’s pick this series up. It all ended too soon! I’m so happy the next book is available.

My heart was pounding throughout this entire book. I had high hopes after reading Project Dandelion, and Reentry just knocked it out of the park. The character and world growth could not be more beautifully scripted. The subtle politics which balanced perfectly into the storyline and progression, well as the emotions found. Neither pulled away from the story they only added to the atmosphere pulling you further and further in.

Let’s not stand in ceremony here. Re Entry reveals that the this isn’t a story about nuclear war and survival in the apocalypse, but a tale of nefarious conspiracy and knaves who would subjugate the planet to their new world order. I can only speculate that Katrina will be the bane of the corrupt, the rich, and the oppressors of generations who have tried to put down the PEOPLE with myths of opportunity.

What a great continuation of book 1!!

I had one major question at the end of book 1 and I am so glad I got an answer to it. I'm pretty sure Katrina felt the same way

Heather continues to show us that is a great writer and very good with world building in this series.

And let's not forget our Narrator who does great as well.

I'd like to thank the author for a free audio of this book, for which I left an honest review.

Brilliantly done. Heather Carson is a master wordsmith. This second installment of Project Dandelion was amazing and we got to learn so much more about what actually happened and why the nukes were dropped.

I was so happy to see that twist at the end. There was a lot of character growth throughout the story. I am super excited to read the next one.

Overall I enjoyed this book and would absolutely recommend it.

The war goes on, or does it?

Our Dandelions succeeded in breaking out of the bunkers. But we're captured again. And broke out again. And captured again. Not until the end of the book were many questions answered as to who really instigated this war. Now, the newly found Resistance has its hands full.

Book 2

Book 2 continues where we left off in book 1. I feel like the story could have progressed a little more, but still a good read, fast and short. The best part of this book is we learn more about what the project is and what the teens are meant for. We also learn more about her dad and what is happening outside.

Yet another Heather Carson book that I couldn't put down. I read this in less then 4 hrs. I couldn't put it down. Left on another cliffhanger for what's to happen with Katrina and her friends. This was full of surprises and following the kids on their chance at survival. I can't wait to read the next book.

This two book set makes for good reading.

Both books are taut and well written. Very interesting premise, I was worried about the kids and what will happen to them. The stories are about the nuclear annihilation of the world and the forces wanting control in the aftermath.

Nothing New Here

While this book engaged me a bit more than book one, it didn’t bring anything new to the world of dystopian fantasy. I found myself skimming, and I still haven’t connected with the main character. I’m reading a book rather than falling into a story.
