Two fourteen year old girls were visiting a friend at Leigh Park, Havant, in Hampshire. They knocked on the door of the friend’s flat and found that she wasn’t home. They decided to wait for her at a neighbor’s flat. Having been there before, one girl was sure they would be fine at the home of the neighbor, who had a six-year-old son living with him. The man, Peter Tobin, gladly let them in, and assured them that they could wait for as long as they needed to. However, things quickly turned horrific when Tobin produced a bottle of vodka and brandished a bread knife. He told the girls to drink up, and threatened to kill them if they didn’t. One girl took a swig, and then passed it on. Tobin then produced a handful of blue pills and told them that he had already had three of them that day, and that they were actually pretty harmless. Fearing that they would be drugged, the girls took the pills and hid them in their pockets. However, the first girl passed out soon after. The second girl was also forced to take a sip of the drink, and she began feeling woozy soon after. She later lost consciousness...
I've been reading a lot of these true crime stories, and they are pretty horrific. It's indescribably sad to see the extent of the cruelty that a person can cause. It makes you realize how much we each need to be aware of who we associate with. At the first sign of abuse, get away, get help, and learn to protect yourself. It might save your life.
This was quite a quick read that covers not only Peter Tobin, it also covers the case of Robert Gross.
I've been reading a lot of free downloads that cover true crime stories and this is one of the better ones I have read. The book had plenty of detail and you can use it as a book to read more about them if needed too.
