If I thought year one at Fallen University was rough, year two may prove hellish...
What do you do when your entire magical academy is banished to the underworld?
No, seriously. If you have any ideas, I would love to hear them.
Because we've been cut off from humanity and the rest of the Custodians, and the admins seem completely lost, unsure of what to do or how to get us back to earth.
And to make matters worse, some students seem to be reacting very... badly to being in the underworld.
But the rumor that just breathing the atmosphere down here for too long will turn you evil is just a myth, right?
Right?
This is book two of the Fallen University trilogy, a reverse harem romance with a slightly snarky heroine and four sexy, supernatural men. It includes cursing and lots of steam and is intended for readers 18+.
Callie Rose is a bestselling author who loves to write books that will grab you by the feels and not let go till the very last page. She loves twisty plots, tortured bad boys, strong FMCs, and redemption stories where that shit is *earned*.
This was a good followup to book one, still not as mind blowing as a series as I’d thought it’d be, but still fun and exciting nonetheless. There were however a bunch of time jumps again which I found annoying, it worked at times for the story but there’s always so much little detail that’s missed between characters when weeks and months pass at a time. You know shit has hit the fan when Fallen U (FU) literally falls into the Underworld. It was kind of comical to see them all carry on with life, classes and all the school drama. Then again they really didn’t have a choice seeing as they had no idea how to get back to earth. We did get a lot more relationship development which is nice but damn if Kai isn’t still a brooding and grumpy mystery. He is so resistant to their connection and I’m still not sure as to why, hopefully we get more answers in the last book. I’m dying over this cliffy ending and need to read the next one ASAP.
I feel the same about this book as the first one. But the storyline was better and felt more consistent. I like how the whole group gets along and there isn’t rivalry and fighting between the guys in the RH. Again way too much smut that doesn’t add to the storey line. There is one smutty part that does add to the storyline. On to the last book.
Loved the world building of the underworld and experiences that brought Piper and her guys closer together. Can’t wait for the final test as they pull the wool off the eyes of those that are prejudiced and set in their ways. Piper is definitely going to shake the underworld up.
Well this has some good ideas. I just feel they fall a little flat in the end. they spent a year in the underworld and only have one fight and even then a group of school kids against the darkest of beasts it seemed a little too easy. The romance is nice in the fact that piper has to work at it and it's not all instant.
Never having read a reverse harem romance before, I was curious as to how the author was going to create a “believable” dynamic between the FMC and her men. It started in the first book and was fully realized in this second book. And it was ok, good even. I’m glad it wasn’t an instant, easy relationship between all the characters. The spice in this book is top shelf.
The plot of fighting against the underworld continues in this book as the battle really heats up. The school is betrayed and finds itself magically moved to the underworld where everyone is trapped with no way of contacting their cohorts on earth. It’s up to the FMC and her men to save the day. But at what cost.
I’m enjoying this series but I’m glad the next book is the last.
This book was full of action! I hate what happened to Sonja but in the end she kinda deserved it. I love that she finally gets through to Kai and they complete their bond. I hate that Xero gets left behind even though it’s what he chose. I loved how the school came together to defend their school. I hate that the first years and second years aren’t allowed to fight. I cannot wait for the last book and hope to hell they get Xero back before he goes through anything bad.
I can’t believe it but this story has just got better. I was sucked in from chapter one and stop reading. Characters are amazing and have such unique personalities. An story took me on such adventure that I nearly cried when I reach the cliffhanger I can’t wait for next book.
FU is in the underworld. They have no contact with earth or the Custodians. So far their wards are shielding them but it's only a matter of time before Gavriel discovers them. Students are starting to go stir-crazy or maybe like the rumors say, they are going evil. Piper and her men fear that the administration has given up about ever returning to the surface but aren't willing to accept that. There has to be a way. But will they all come out unscathed if they risk everything to save the school?
There was a little letdown from book one to two. The first half of the book exists in a holding pattern. There's also a sense of deja vu. Is there no one else in the school capable of saving the day? The adults are worthless. At least we get a character breakthrough with Kai. He's nonexistent and frankly irritating the first half of the book but then...finally. The group finally feels whole. There's a feeling that the men care for Piper beyond her succubus magic and they are all acting more like brothers. I was not a fan of how the book left off. If I was Piper I am now fully focused on my guys and our life. No more rescues. They are not appreciated in the least. No thanks yous, no allowances made, no assistance given. One last rescue and the Custodians and the school can handle the rest themselves.
For year two, the whole school is sent to the underworld, and no one knows how to bring it back to Earth, and the wards on the school are not going to hold forever. On top of that, there are students that aren’t doing so well being in the underworld. When it’s discovered that some power stones can help take the school back to Earth, but they are outside in the underworld, Piper and the guys leave to find them, without permission. She will need to have her guys completely on board, trusting each other as never before…
There is some great action, the suspenseful part of this story arc continues on, and this book rarely slows down. Don’t go into thinking it’s a new adult university storyline that is drenching the market right now, this is a full on reverse harem with some hard hitting sex scenes. The action and monsters are well thought out and described well enough to picture them in your mind as you read along. There is a cliffhanger at the end, but book three is out so it doesn’t really matter on this one. Reviewed by Cyrene
Well....this was a strange turn of events. They get sucked into the underworld...all of them...the whole school building and all! Her men are coming around even Kingston but Kai definitely is a nope. However, she's weakening because of it. Okay giving 1 thing away he DOES start to come around because she explains to him in desperation that if he doesnt at least get closer to her she'll die. On that note its never explained why he is so resistant. Jayce guesses in book one but thats kinda all we know and I dont think that is accurate. Piper's pleading broke my heart. The end of this book was unfortunate...one of her men doesnt make it back and is stuck in the underworld. He sacrificed himself to protect her and the others. Its not over though!
Fallen University: Year Two by Callie Rose is a reverse harem paranormal romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Lia Holland.
I absolutely love Callie’s books! They always leave me begging for more. I love the chemistry between Piper, Kingston, Jayce, Xero, and Kai. The book does end on a cliffhanger but that wasn’t a surprise since it’s the second book in the trilogy. I can’t wait to dive into the next book.
Lia did a great job on the narration. I loved that she used different voices/tones for each character. It really brought the story to life.
I would recommend this book if you like reverse harems or paranormal romances.
Fallen University: Year Two - Callie Rose 3/5 STARS 5/5 SPICE
Fallen University Year Two. I need to know what Kai's deal is! He is so stubborn and his backstory is such a mystery!!! Like, come on. I'm getting a lot more invested in this series now. I still stand by the fact that it is basic. I hate describing it that way but it is. However, it is exactly what I need right now! I've been able to figure out ways to separate the men from each other. Still at a loss for what Xero is. They finally ALL did it... anywho. 1 just have the last book left and I'm excited because I think the story will finally unravel. I really appreciate that there is a lot of action and spice. It's not the most insanely well-written book but it's great
I didn't hate it, but I felt like this one moved too slow for the first 70%. Nothing really happened until late in the book. It just felt like an endless cycle of Kai avoiding Piper, which caused her to feel weak; Piper failing to be any kind of effective in any battle type situation; days and weeks passing with everyone slowly going stir-crazy; and, of course, abundant, sometimes ill-timed, sexual encounters with one or more of "her men".
But then, all the ridiculousness at the end with Sonja, just about killed any respect I had for this story. So, I really wish the author had come up with some other way to bring about the climactic, cliff-hanger-ish ending that didn't feel so unlikely and so contrived.
Title: Fallen University: Year Two Author: Callie Rose Format: Audio Narrator: Lia Holland Genre: Paranormal Romance, reverse harem Standalone: Nope Part of a Series; Book 2 in the Fallen University trilogy Steam Level: Fiery hot at times 5/5
Callie Rose knows how to do a reverse harem right. Mystery, romance, and paranormal all rolled into one, Fallen University is a great story with a ton of action-packed twists and turns. You never knew what was awaiting you around the corner. I cannot wait to see what happened next.
I received this audiobook for free from Audiobook Obsession. This is my honest and voluntary review.
Pipers adventures with her merry (and not so merry) men are very well written. There’s a realistic timescale involved. The story takes place over a year, rather than a few days or weeks which allows the characters to grow, learn and bond. The great journey they take isn’t conveniently around the corner, but they have to go off searching for weeks. All in all it adds a beautiful depth to the books. The landscape of hell they find themselves in and it’s denizens are intriguing and well thought out. All in all a great read and I plan on moving straight to the final book!
I love Callie Rose as an author and have read a number of her books. Fallen University had such an interesting concept and I was really drawn in for the MCs attack and turning. It all started so well with her being magnetically drawn to her bonds and then finding out how rare she is. But then it turned mechanical. We didn’t spend time on the rareness of her type. We didn’t explore any time in her demon form. We don’t have more depth in the relationships. I want to know more about Hannah. I want her to be that ride or die who hears of trouble and has her shovel ready. The characters and relationships have all been fun but one dimensional. I totally want to love everyone more.
I spent the first 60% of this book bored out of my mind. Then the next 5% I was constantly talking myself into finishing it. The last 20-ish % was really the only interesting part. The Sonja situation was lame....all that hateful build up to just, poof done. I will grudgingly read the last book because it'll drive me crazy to only read 2/3.
I'm not going to say I recommend this book, because I've been forcing myself to continue since about 70% of book 1. it may be someone else's jam....not this chick.
Audible listen. Narrator did a good job. I like her voice and she fits the characters well. An enjoyable listening experience.
Entertaining story with a bit of action and adventure. Fun setting in the Underworld too. This is reverse harem for the romance, which isn’t my favorite, but there is some good steam and chemistry between Piper and her guys. Not a huge fan of succubus reads either, but I like Piper’s sass and that she stands up for herself. I like most of the guys too. The story moves a bit slow, but I enjoyed it. Some good action and suspense. Overall, a good read!
I remembered reading book 1 a while ago and I wondered why I didn't finish this series. The heroine has no defensive powers yet she feels the need to be in the thick of all fighting. She doesn't use any weapons, just give instructions and rushes off to kisses her harem, whilst they are are still fighting. In a real battle she'd be dead and probably them, talk about a distraction. I didn't particularly mind the heroine in book one but in this one she's annoying, the whole lack of coffee business then carrying on about Kai.....
This book was a page turner! The author is truly creating an interesting world of adventure, intrigue, and the occasional dose of sexiness. I love the character development, and the gradual acceptance that occurs in the relationships between Piper and her men. It helps the tension and ups the antenna when they act on things. I also enjoy that while there is a lot of smexy times, it isn't the focus of the story. It would be too easy to get lost in the smexy since she's a succubus. I am thrilled to find out what happens in book 3!
The first book was an addictive read, hooking me from the first page and I fell in love with Piper & her men and Hannah. Book 2 takes us to the underworld after Owen's sabotage, and the suspense and intrigue deepens as Piper, her group and everyone at F.U. scramble to find a way to return home. The book was an emotional roller coaster, I was desperate to see if Piper and Kai would ever reconcile, and if they could ever get home.
I don't hate it but it doesn't add up there university gets sent to the worse place that they all fear and instead of panic or even setting up there own army incase they are attacked by the bad guys who are looking for them . You have them joking around and studying for a test that to me is so unbelievable like who does that the school head master isn't even doing much and is like meh study for your tests 🤦♂️
