As a young boy, like thousands of other youngsters in Holland, his lifetime dream was to become a footballer, in a country were the vast majority of the best footballers originate from cities in the North of the country, Van Dijk lived in a city in the South more famous for factories than football. This book takes you on a journey throughout Virgil Van Dijk career right up to 2019. It is rich in details, and contains lots of interesting information, from his early years breaking through in the Dutch league, his time in Scotland with Celtic, playing for Southampton in England, playing for Holland and playing for his current club Liverpool. The first chapter in the book, is in my opinion the players career highlight to date, winning the UEFA Champions League with Liverpool. In addition to the normal footballing career path that books like these take, you learn more things about the player and his family outside of football, one interesting things is that you learn about his family heritage from Suriname, the country were the families of Clarance Seedorf and Egor Davids also originate from. This book is exceptionally well written, produced in a short chapter length format which is addictive and makes you want to read the next chapter before you put the book down. Includes career stats to the rear of the book, a sneak preview of Sane Mane book
from this book series. Only negative, no pictures within its pages, but well worth reading. No editorial errors, lots of information packed within its pages, in a easy to read format.

This book shows Virgil Van Dijk’s backstory before he reaches the heights of Liverpool and winning the champions league trophy with them. I think that it excels in telling how Van Dijk felt at nearly every given moment. I also found it incredible how he could strive from being the champion of the Cruyff court to being one of the best players in the world. I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy rags to riches factual football stories.

I really enjoyed this book, it is an football story and it shows the life outside the football pitch for football players and how tough it actually is when football players are growing up, it was a very good ending and it was very enjoyable to watch, I think this is suitable for like 10 and above and good for both genders.
