This review covers both The Orphans and Silent Ones.

I really enjoyed the very beginning of this series. These last two novels were less interesting and definitely seemed more disjointed.

There was a good deal of violence that seemed to intensify with more and more graphic detail with each book. There was also an almost rushed feeling to tell the story. Gone is the richness of the storytelling and suspense. At times, it felt like Donovan was trying too hard.

By the time I got to Silent Ones, there were so many questions that were left unanswered and loose ends that had me wondering why they were even included.

Overall, I like the premise of the stories, but by the end, like Rachel, I was tired.

Great storyteller, bad spelling and editing

The writer's a natural storyteller, but the many errors in word choice, spelling and grammar drop a 4 rating to a 2. All of the electronic books in this series have needed basic copy editing. I don't know if hard copy was scanned to create the electronic Kindle book; if someone dictated the book; or some other issue caused the mistakes. The seller of this electronic book should have read it and had it edited before offering it via Amazon.

I love the Rachel Harroway thrillers. These books keep you guessing all the way to the end. This one was great. Rachel and her ex-partner, Peak, try to take a family road trip with their daughters, only to get caught up in a small town murder. The characters and the plot in this one was unbelievable!!! I could not put this book down.

Sorry

I have read the first four and found the series a pretty good read. I was disappointed in this book though, because throughout the story, there were many many errors in wording and spelling etc. To the point of being distracting. I just found it less enjoyable to read. The story itself was just so-so .

Not the best.

I wonder if this story was really written by the same person as the other books in this series. The start of the story was downright boring. The storyline did improve, but there are way too many grammatical and punctuation errors, misspelled words. It makes it difficult to read and enjoy the book.

Don't miss this one.

I choose the rating because the story is a spellbound. Interesting characters, interesting intriguing characters and placed in an out of the two horse town full of immoral, evil people, even drug traffickers. Enjoy your reading.

Great series. Highly recommended.

Love this series. Easy to read. Love the storylines. I was hoping for a little of romance for Peak and Rachel. Love the characters. Would love to read more about Mallory.

Great story

I want to read more Rachel Harroway. The story and characters are likable . The only problem with this book was a lot of typos and dropped words. I'm sure this isn't the author's fault.

Good read

I’ve always enjoyed these books. But you need to get a new editor. So many typos/wrong words. Made it difficult at times and ruined the reading rhythm .

The book was a lot less intense than the last. Lots of proofing errors that detracted from the story. But I love me some Rachel halloway mysteries. Hoping someday they'll make it into a TV show.
