Jolie and Ava are at it again when they witness the death of one of their online students get it during class.

Wowzas!

I love how there's a sort of precursor to the crime when the cooking classes first start so that when the actual murder occurs, you are just like Jolie and Ava, not really sure it happened.

The classmates all have something in common too. So the mystery of why one friend from the "art cult" would be murdered is something to make you go "hmmm."

As the girls start unraveling secrets, and those girls from the class seem to have a lot of them, Jolie and her boyfriend Mick start to piece together their complicated relationship.

I really loved the twists and turn that the story took as the girls dug deeper into their students lives. I really didn't expect how things turned out in the end and that's an absolute bonus for me.

This was a fast paced, super fun read, with a whole lot of small town flair. A little bit of romance, a touch of quirkyness and of course a murder.

This was the first Cast Iron Skillet Mystery I've read, but it definitely won't be my last.

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

Jolie is in for a doozy of an adventure this time. We start with the girls trying to tackle all sorts of new jobs in top of running their cast iron cafe. Besides Ava being a licensed P.I. now they are also starting online cooking classes which sound kind of interesting. After much prep they start the first class only for a prank gone bad to end it early. Worried about the rocky start they soldier on only to get another surprise ending. With a murder in the mix Jolie starts asking questions while also working things out with Mick. The blend of mystery, romance, and food makes for a culinary cozy you won't want to put down. The girls are a hoot as they try to figure things out. The addition of all the kitties just makes it even better. A must read for cozy fans. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy from the Great Escapes Book Tours. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Cast Iron Stake Through the Heart by Jodie Rath and Rebecca Grubb is another tale of how Jolie and Ava try to solve a case before the police do.
Can Jolie and Ava figure out who killed one of their students?
Jolie Tucker
Jolie Tucker is our main character and point of view narrator, who is sometimes good and sometimes bad. The good when she's investigating and stuff. For the bad is when Jolie decides to take a mental health day or gets knocked out, and then that's it for until Jolie wakes back up. Jolie is a good person at heart, but she needs to remember to bring more than one person as back up. She is still doing her therapy and is making progress with it. I am happy she is dealing with it.

What I like about her is that she is getting gutsy and tells her family to back off and let her process things before they come to check up on her. Another thing that I like is that she forces the conversation with Mick regarding their relationship. The one thing that I dislike is that she shouldn't be trying to perm her hair to look like her friend when she looks beautiful with it straight as well.
The Mystery
Cast Iron Stake Through the Heart CRThe mystery in this one was a crazy one. We have an artist commune that had most of the girls in that class (all five of them) so that they can learn to cook. Not to bad, right? Right. Well, that is until one of them gets stabbed, and now everyone is looking at that commune trying to figure out what is going on at that place. I kind of fell for the red herrings, but not as I knew something was off. They did a great job of hiding the real person behind it.
Four Stars
Cast Iron Stake Through the Heart by Jodie Rath and Rebecca Grubb is an exciting pair to write together. I could hardly tell when one stopped and the other began in writing their parts of this book. It's another one that kept me on my toes and wanting to know more and more. Jolie is always a fun main character to read from to find out how she is thinking about certain things.

I am giving Cast Iron Stake Through the Heart by Jodie Rath and Rebecca Grubb four stars and recommending it to anyone that wants to read it.

This was a lighthearted nod to all the video conferencing that took place last year, but Ava and Jolie were setting up their first set of online cooking classes in an otherwise completely normal world (which I really appreciate that authors I read kept things normal in their cozy mystery worlds). Little did the girls know their students held more secrets than anyone could imagine. The murder on-screen was preceded by a prank in another session, so no one really knew the second was real at first.

I loved that Jolie and Meiser finally got close despite all the rumblings regarding a local pregnancy. The notorious Nestle was still being well, notorious and just skating above the law. It was kinda cool how during the showdown, Jolie thought it was one person, but someone got away making her wonder if they'd surface sometime. Onward to the next books and novellas!

*edit to add review *

Cast Iron Stake Through the Heart sees Jolie and Ave get caught up in yet another murder investigation, only this time they both see the murder happen right in front of them!
The girls have set up an online cooking course and whilst teaching their students they see a masked man enter and attack one of the girls, only it turned out to be her boyfriend playing a prank. Undoubtedly everyone was shaken up by it, and Jolie wanted to cut her from the class but the decided to give her another chance. This time when the 'same' masked man enters another students video frame, she ends up with a steak through the heart and this time it is all real and no prank!

This book was yet another great addition to the The Cast Iron Skillet Mystery Series, filled with murder, romance and of course delicious food! It was also a collaboration between Jodi Rath & Rebecca Grubb, and the book flowed flawlessly I had no idea who wrote what parts!

Cant wait to read the next instalment of this series, I am loving how Jolie is growing stronger as a person with each new book.

Jolie and Ava decide to start an on-line cast iron cooking class. What could possibly go wrong? Murder, mayhem, and twists and turns. This is another page turning addition to this series. The beloved characters of Leavensport, Ohio are all here to solve another crime. I recommend this book and series!

This was deliciously fun! Throw in some cooking, technology, a little mystery and add some best friends and you got a super fun cooking class. The characters are written from an honest place, the writer captures that honesty beautifully. The characters are flawed but loving humans. Highly recommend.
