Forgive me, Lord, I'm about to sin. They call me mother.

I’m the abbess at The Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Though, in truth, I’m not even a nun.

I’m a blasphemy in disguise, hiding from the MC club that wants me dead.

But here at the convent, I find my place.

I give the other sisters purpose, and they give me something that I’ve always yearned

A home.

A place of total acceptance.

I have finally found my calling.

Everything in my world is as it should be until they show up.

Four sinfully, mouthwatering men preparing to take their final vows.

They’ve come to visit their old mentor, the retired priest who says mass at the convent.

The four call themselves ‘The Gospel Brothers’: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

They’re gorgeous.

And forbidden.

They could tempt a saint.

And I’m anything but one.

Thanks girl, I had a lot of fun reading this with you! 🫶🏼

So, how to write a review on this one..
First of all; Going into this I was expecting a book with a lot of smut and very little plot.
I was right. 🙃

This book is absolutely ridiculous, but also very funny!
From the bad jokes, impossible scenarios and weirdest decisions, I was highly entertained reading this!

I don't know if I would necessarily recommend this, but it's an easy and quick read.
So if you have some spare time and you're not offended by the theme of the book, you might as well give it a go. 🤍

First of all thanks to my bestie Anouk ♡ for buddy reading this with me, it was fun!!

Second thing, I’d like to apologize to all my Christian, especially Catholic friends in case my reading choices offend them (because in this case they probably do). So please guys, don’t read this book!! Don’t even read my highlights! Pretty please? 🤡

Because this was just one big hilarious blasphemy and, forgive me, but I had a lot of fun reading it. There is barely any plot; it’s basically four hot guys about to become priests and one pretend nun trying to get into their pants. There’s no logic to be found anywhere, but that’s ok because I was laughing out loud!! 🤡

This book is not for everyone, but if you don’t mind blasphemous humor you may enjoy it!

Bless me, father, for I have sinned. I had impure thoughts, and you will too when you read about the Gospel Brothers. For whatever reason, I thought this was a dark romance; it has some dark parts, but really, it's a dark comedy. I laughed so hard that I was crying.

Not going to lie, some of the nuns in my day, if they saw this book, they would say it's Blasphemy, and I would be condemned to hell for reading it, and I would reply that at least I would know many people down there. Do you hear the nuns gasps after my reply? Ya me too.

Please note this is based on the Catholic religion. I joke that I survived the religion, but I never lost my faith. So for my very religious practicing Catholics, this may be a challenging read to you.

Raelynn escaped from a dangerous Mc and impersonated their new mother superior, Mother Evangeline, to hide her real identity and seek sanctuary. The things that come out of her mouth for a Mother Superior is hysterical.

“It’s nothing. Try not to worry too much. Sometimes kids will make you proud, and other times, they’re going to make you go ‘what the fuck’, ya know? Alright, go with God and all that crap.” I reassure her, waving my hand in the air like I saw the priest do.

Now enter the Gospel brothers, Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John. On their journey to become priests, none have yet have taken their vows to be a priest. All are so hot; it's a sin. Evangeline is their forbidden temptation.

This is a hysterical, filthy book. I enjoyed it from beginning to end, and I read it one sitting. Evangeline is a strong, brave, and sassy heroine. My favorite kind. I wish the ending is a little longer. Parts of it seemed rush. If it weren't for that, I would have given the book five stars.

The sinning seemed so much worse because she was a ‘nun’. Everything was so scandalous, but she was just living her best life 😅.

The only knowledge I have of nuns is from ‘The Sound of Music’ & ‘Sister Act’. This FMC was definitely leaning more towards Whoopi than Julie. Their personalities were so similar to me.

My religious references are quite out of date (as you can see… sorry), but this book definitely gave me more insight into all things Catholic. I had no idea how long it took to become a priest, Jesus.

Anyway back to the plot.

This review will not include any big spoilers that aren't already mentioned in the blurb. Also if you're looking for the book and can't find it, it's been retitled as ‘THE GOSPEL TRUTH’, which I think is a shame. ‘Motherf*cker’ perfectly encapsulated the plot 😅😂

Before it even started, I have to say the foreword was hilarious. This was my first indication that this was going to be a good read.

It was quite dark at the start, but only because she was discussing her childhood and her previous position within the MC club. She went through some horrible sh1t, but seemed to deflect the mention of it with humour. Not really referencing darker subjects, but the FMC was really f*cking funny.

She was extremely blunt and unfiltered. You will be physically cringing at some of these awkward moments... But continue to read it anyway. It was frequently a slow-motion car crash situation.

The FMC and the MMC’s are polar opposites, probably because she is not religious in any way and was constantly sexually frustrated. Like enormously. I understand why she acted this way though after hearing her backstory.

It was funny to see figures from her past collide with her present, and to see how she naturally interacted with them.

I liked all the guys and their POV was mentioned occasionally, so it was interesting to have their perspective. I will say that they sometimes just appeared (usually after the FMC embarrassed herself) and this did remind me of the sisters from ‘The Shining’. They always seemed to travel as a four.

I thought they were a lot younger because they sounded quite innocent and naive. I googled it and it takes 6 years to become a priest after you graduate College. 6 YEARS. However, 3 of them are older than this general age. You find out their ages at 70%.

The ending got a little cringe for me, but I can't deal with too much positivity 😂. This is very much a ‘me’ problem. It was a sweet ending and the plot twist was a great edition.

This was a solid 4 stars just because of how funny it was. It was a nice change of pace from some of the other books I've been reading.

FYI, This wasn’t overly smut-heavy, but sex was a constant thought for the FMC, so just know this prior to reading.

I have to give this 5 stars because not only is it the first book I've been able to finish in what feels like a month, but I also read it in 1 day and it made me laugh, A Lot!
I've been in a massive book slump and have dozens of partially read books on my Kindle that I just can't finish. Thank You M.J. for your childish nonsense punny writing that pulled me out of my slump (at least temporarily)

Okay about the book, I honestly didn't think I could get into this one, it seemed too blasphemous even for this sinner's taste, but thankfully I gave it a try and Loved It! It's not nearly as taboo as I thought it would be.

Our FMC is on the run from a shitty past and through a random sequence of hijinks she ends up pretending it be a nun. It's a great place to lie low and she enjoys the company of the other sisters.
Then 4 hot as hell priests in training walk onto the scene and they all end up on the path to Hell, figuratively speaking. Lots of sinning and laughs later they get their HEA. Amen!

I'm going to be brutally honest here.

I had a hard time reading the first part of this book. I'm not a devout Catholic girl but I am a Catholic girl and although I slack at my commitments, I still am a believer. That being said, I had to lose my inhibitions in order for me to finally enjoy the book. It was a struggle, I will admit. This book fcuked my mind more than anything dark romance I've ever read and I've read pitch black stories (and no, THIS BOOK IS NOT EVEN DARK ROMANCE). You know the feeling where I'm laughing my butt off and then cringing at the same time because the part I've just read was actually blasphemous? But then that shiz is funny, too. This book torn me up inside out.

But I digress.

The story has it's own humor (a wry one, IMO), satirical (I'd say, Horatian type) and full on filthy. The filthiness is glorious. *snorts* It's really hilarious once you ditch your inhibitions and enjoyable to read.

Anyways, if you're looking for a moral story, forget about that. This book is meant to be a dirty entertainment. Like unicorns shi-tt-ing glitters while on a crack, you know? But anyways, if you made it far, good luck to your soul. Fcuking duck. I'm gonna listen again to Nine Inch Nail's Animal cause it's the book's vibe.

I will have to add, if you ever decide to read this book, you will need to leave your judgement in some other place.

And yes, I feel like a pearl-clutcher right now. Why? Because this book made me Google things I hope other people won't see on my Google History page. And if you want to feel the crazy battle I'm having with my sanity, read this book, too!

Holy Mother of God

I laughed so much. I get it. The author told us in The Long-Winded Forward this is a satirical book. She says it isn't meant to be offensive, but at least if you read her Dedication and Forward you know if you are about to read something you don't want to. You were warned.

For me, I loved it. It has taboo. Four almost priests and a fake nun, but no actual vows were broken to God. Evangeline just helped them sort out their feelings about whether or not priesthood is actually something they truly want.

Evangeline is hilarious in the most brutal 'Open mouth, insert foot' sort of way possible. She gets caught with her pants down or up as is her case in the most comedic way. She got drunk on communion wine and ate lots of wafers.

I would love to read more about these characters if the author ever wants to expand their story.

This is my first book by MJ I think, and I will be seeing what else she has written. Her brand of humor, even as irreverent as it was in this book is totally my kind of humor.

I think maybe I now have a thing for priests too. I totally blame this book. Just kidding. I had a thing for hot priests long before now.

Let's just say there are trigger warnings. And let's also say that if you are sensitive to religion being mocked, this book isn't for you. If it is, then you might just love this.

Also this is a short book. It takes only a couple hours to read. Some books fall short on lack of details in shorter books. This one didn't. It was perfectly executed in its delivery and a joy to read.

Funny!

This is funny, fast and freaking hot!!! I laughed until I cried, and found a twisted kind of joy in the blasphemous narrative. Honestly? It’s the kind of twisted sister plot you can’t help but enjoy.

First person, multiple POV (limited)
HEA
Contemporary RH
MMMMF (some m/m scenes included)
Characters are 28+
Taboos? Uh.... yes. Yes. And yes. 😈
Rating: NC-17 for sure.

Pros:
- Funny!!
- Witty and irreverent.
- FMC is fantastic!
- This isn’t Plot heavy, is the dirty little secret you love reading.

Cons:
- Guys are not Well developed.
- Ahhh.... Fate. So trite. So tropey. Still good.

So it wasn't what i expected ....
It was funny, and steamy of course, and i liked it, but i couldn't feel a real connection with the characters nor did i feel love between them:
it was just lust for me.
Anyway it was a good book to close the year.

Motherf*cker is an amazingly hilarious, seriously laughter out loud, stand-alone. Raelynn is on the run and just happens to stumble into the nun life through “mistaken” identity. Growing up with the life she has, Realynn, now Evangeline, takes to nun life about as well as a cat takes to water; so yes, it’s a FUN ride watching her try to excel at nun life but I’m reality ending up “corrupting” 4 soon to be priests.

Motherf*cker is full of sass and laughs and some HOT priest (almost priests that is) sex. You’re going to want to go on and get this book.

If cussing offends you, this book is not for you (if you couldn’t figure that out from the title though, maybe you deserve to be offended). There is also a small MM scene so if that’s going to hurt your delicate sensibilities, stay away. Oh and if you’re going to have issues with a person impersonating a nun and screwing 4 soon-to-be priests take your judgment elsewhere.

This book had me cracking up the entire time.

⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️4/5.
🌶 1/5

This book was very unholy but so funny and sassy. I could not put it down! Finished it so quick dammit😭.

Rae has been through so damn much oh my word, she deserves the world. And with four men no less, hell yesss. She just corrupts them each, one…by….one. And makes no apologies!

Her mouth is absolutely filthy and she is not shy to say exactly what she wants. I loveee her! Very strong, funny and resilient!

Definitely recommend this book if you’re looking for a good crazy laugh😌.

So, you can probably tell this one is going to be offensive and crass and if you're super religious, it's not the book for you.
I stumbled across this series in an anthology, and the novella in there was too funny for me not to follow up.
This was exactly what I expected. Sacrilegious and no holds barred raunchy fake nun. Freaking funny and so very wrong, with a HEA.

Forgive me father for I have sinned. The spirit was strong but the flesh, so so weak. I didn’t want to enjoy this one so much but, oh how I did succumb to the temptation and found myself laughing at the inappropriateness of the whole ordeal.

Short, sweet, funny and really inappropriate, I loved it!

If you've read the blurb for this book and still want to read it, DO IT. Sin away, I implore you. This book was so fucking hilarious and indecent it's hard for me to not just make this entire review laughing emojis. Think Sister Act while on ecstasy and sexing it up with not one but four soon to be priests. I expected something special, new and different but I still was so unprepared for how outrageous and amazing the book actually is. If you're not overly religious and like RH I really have to recommend this book. It's not super serious (mostly because of the snarky and naughty heroine and her dirty mind) but will have you in stitches so don't read this in public. It does deal with some heavy topics What really makes the book so special is the heroine. Not only does she speak her mind far too often, she is the least believable Nun in existence but damn if she didn't give it a shot. She likes sex and is not ashamed of that even while living in the convent. There is a scene that takes place in the utility closet that will forever live in my mind and probably keep me laughing forever. The books is outrageous and everything I never knew I needed. Such a hilarious read that I will definitely be checking out whatever else this author shares with the world, like minded and crazy individuals can thank me later! Sin away ;)

You know what, this one did actually meet expectations. It was funny but did deal with serious issues. A couple of things were pretty wtf but other than that it was light, painfully awkward to start with and entertaining. The guys were a great and their solution creative.

OMG This story was hilarious! M.J. took a story that for some people would be totally taboo, and flipped it on it's rear. I absolutely loved Evangeline and her antics. My heart went out to her for the life she had been dealt, but she is such a plucky personality that she just rolls with the punches. The Gospel brothers were hot and steamy... I don't ever remember any novitiates being that good looking, athletic or funny. This story was in a way, a twisted version of Sister Act, but with way more inappropriate behavior, sexiness and language. All the things that make a story good! I hope that we can revisit Evangeline and the Gospel brothers at a later date and see where there story has led them.

as much as you expect a "religious" novel to be serious, this is everything but that .. a bad girl, Evangeline, hides amongst the nuns at The Immaculate Heart of Mary and meets the 4 "Gospel Brothers" who are waiting to enter the priesthood .. as the story continues, the Brothers decide they are not ready to join the cloth and Evangeline is right there to comfort them .. their relationships take an interesting turn and leaves the reader trying to catch their breath after laughing so hard .. remember, leave your inhibitions at the door

I didn't know what to expect from this book when I read the plot, but I decided to give it a try and I don't regret it. Every time I read something from M.J. Marstens I laugh so much. This book too was not exception. Raelynn has been dealt some bad cards in her life, but she has survived them all. She's finally able to escape, but she ends up taking the place at a convent of a dead nun. She believes she has escaped all of her nightmares when four georgeous men ready to say the vow to become priests come to the convent. Even without trying, Rae won't hesitate to be their sin.

I was sold on the foreword. The author's writing is hilariously funny and snappy.
This was a fun read not too much involved, the chapters are short and there is spice but not much.
I loved the concept of FMC running and finding sanctuary pretending to be a nun and meeting four hot soon-to-be priests.

I was crackling up at the FMC page after page as she tries to be a nun and it doesn't go very well she is such a horny woman that she seduces all the priests in her way.
