Do I scare you, Little One?
Do I make your knees shake and hands tremble?
Does your heart race and your lips quiver around me?
I’m your worst nightmare, lurking in the black oblivion that surrounds you.
Always watching. Always waiting.
They call me Priest, and I’ll make you repent for your sins.
But I won’t be able to protect you from mine.

Do I scare you, Cohen?
Does my mere presence heighten your pulse and warm the blood in your veins?
Do I stir the deepest parts of you? The parts you buried deep inside long ago?
Admit it, Cohen, I’m a thrill, scattered within the deepest layers of your mind.
Always tempting. Always enticing.
You found me in the woods. You were a danger, and I was naive.
But now I want the wolf that hunts me.

Call it a truce. Call it a surrender.
He needs justice. I need answers.
It’s us against them.
Cohen may have claimed me, but Sanctum wants to own me.
They plan on collecting.
But so am I.

Wtf did I just read?!? Wow! I didn’t know what to expect going into this, a new author, teasers dropping like flies all over IG the hype was making my anticipation levels skyrocket! As soon as I started this I was pulled into the story line, picking up pieces to the puzzle as it progressed.

83716796-2472861639694748-1435505751110975488-n

I was hooked..

Dessa and Cohen have such an unbreakable, unique bond which started at the age of eight when she stumbled across a crudely built fortress in their neck of the woods later making it their own private spot. What they share there, stays there. It's the only place where they let down their walls and openly speak.

Cohen 'Priest' Russo. It will be a cold day in Hell before I call him 'Priest.' He's everyone's favourite person to fear. Girls cower and boys bow down. Not me though. A king will bow to me before I ever drop to my knee for him.

Cohen's father is the big wig of the town, a man you don't want to cross, from drugs and guns, Sanctum has it's fingers on it.

Then I reach the last page and I’m thrown over one doozy of a cliffy! Phew never saw that coming!

Twist and turns, with nail biting, gritty scenes that had my dark heart rejoicing. Although this wasn't overly dark I still enjoyed it..These are the kind of books that I seek out, ones that stand out amongst the rest, ones that have a unique storyline, ones that have me hooked from the start, ones where you don't know where the author is leading you but you gladly go, ones that have me coming back for more no matter how brutal the cliffhanger was!! And this book topped them all!!

Well that was one bowl of CRAY CRAY I did not see coming at the end! The element of surprise was not lost in this new to me author’s writing and she definitely gave us the shock value for a cliffy. Sanctum is woven into this uniquely complex story that will have you trying to find the impossible answers to dangerous questions.

Cohen Russo has a dangerous job in his father’s business but that’s the only life he’s ever known. Made to be tough and do what is needed for the greater good, he gets stuff done and never allow weakness to cross his path. But there is one thing that makes his blood feel crazy and that’s the blonde bombshell he cant seem to get rid of since childhood.

83716796_2472861639694748_1435505751110975488_n.jpg

Hate to love. Love to hate. Since they were eight years old, Cohen and Dessa have always had this unexplainable connection that has tethered them together and made them a part of each other’s lives into adult hood. Now in their 20’s with a career path mapped out for them, they’re now back in each other’s orbit with unfinished business. But when Cohen is on the hunt and Dessa uncovers some shocking secrets, not only will an alliance be formed but these two have to face the one thing that’s been staring them in the face for over a decade.

21568789.gif

I knew that this book was going to be different based on the blurb that I read and I was more than okay with that because I needed something truly messed up and dark to read!! Everyone knows that I gravitate toward those kinds of stories and I cannot explain the type of excitement I had when it came to this book. Now with that being said, I was a bit disappointed because it wasn’t as “Dark” as I thought it was going to be and I was really looking forward to those gasp worthy shocking moments. Don’t get me wrong, this story definitely had a bit of a dark undertone which I thought was really good, but I was just expecting a lot more if I’m being completely honest.

With threatening secrets, sexual tension and revenge on the horizon, Sanctum will keep you entertained until the very last chapter and give you a cliffhanger that you won’t see coming. These characters will take you through their ups and downs and make you a part of their messed up world whether you want to be included or not.

If you’re looking for a revengeful read with a slight enemies to lovers setting, then this one is for you.

Please note: this book does end on a Wtf cliffhanger.

”I’m trouble. You may not see it now, but I’m more than happy to be the one who haunts your dreams at night and thoughts in the day.”

Twisty. Dark. Deep. And a little bit manic? Yeah, those are all the words I’d use to describe Sanctum. Two characters that have this deep connection between them, because though they seem so different they are very alike. Honestly I can’t say too much, because I’ve promised a spoiler free review. It’s twisty and probably not entirely what you’re expecting. The first books from this author punched me in the gut. Sanctum took my brain out, shook it around, and then punched me in the gut. 😂

Just know that there may be some triggers in this book. If you need details you can DM, and I’ll give you some vague warnings.

Wow....I need to take a minute to collect myself after that! What did I just read!? I literally just finished the book with my mouth dropped open in shock. WHAT THE WHAT!?

This book is FULL of mystery, a good amount of angst and sexual tension, and it always keeps you on the edge of your seat. It definitely has a very dark vibe to it, and I’m all here for it. This was a really great book with a well thought out storyline that shocked me more than once! And I love when a book is able to shock me and I’m not able to see it coming. Bravo!!

Cohen and Dessas bantering made the story for me, honestly. Shes sassy and bites back, never backing down from a challenge. Sanctum was a wild ride from the first page til the last. I had some ideas about what I thought the ending might be, but boy was I was off! It does end on a cliffhanger, so if you're someone who likes to know that ahead of time (I dont need to be), this is your heads up. I was a little confused about *what* exactly Sanctum "was" and still have some questions, but overall it was a quick read with a lot of action and suspense. I cant wait to see what Asylum has to offer!

“𝔸𝕝𝕨𝕒𝕪𝕤 𝕞𝕪 𝔸𝕔𝕙𝕚𝕝𝕝𝕖𝕤 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕞𝕪 𝕒𝕟𝕔𝕙𝕠𝕣, 𝕤𝕚𝕞𝕦𝕝𝕥𝕒𝕟𝕖𝕠𝕦𝕤𝕝𝕪.”

1. This book was not what I expected.
2. It’s definitely not what you’re expecting.

Cohen & Dessa have a very unique relationship. A little bit dark, a little twisted, a lot hard to grasp. But it works for them.

I loved Dessa. She was no wilting daisy, no damsel in distress. She was on a mission, and where hers happened to coincide with his, she was still very much leading the charge on her own.

Cohen was hard for me to get a read on at first. I couldn’t decide if I loved him or if I wanted to punch him in his junk and flee.(I’m not a strong heroine. 😂)

This hit all the points that I love. A mystery to solve, some characters that make you wanna toss your book, a lot of imagery with plenty of room for me to insert my own whatever. Side characters that made my heart happy, and some that I could have done without. Complex relationships all around? Yeah, it had it all.

I can’t wait for more.

4.5 Stars!

I’m going to be honest and say I wasn’t loving this one until about the 20% mark.
After that?! The remaining 80% though!? I was ALL IN.

Fully Invested in the team (quite the trio) and plot. I loved the mystery behind Sanctum and the cutthroat personalities of both main characters. This series is bigger than the romance between Cohen & Dessa. Sanctum and their dirty deeds are what kept me glued to the pages! This was so much more than I expected and the secrets just kept coming.

“It’s always been only you, Dessa, ever since we were kids. I found you, and that made you mine. You have never been anything other than mine.”

The romance between Cohen & Dessa wasn’t so much a hate-to-love story as it was them fighting their feelings for each other and putting on a front. While the tension was delicious, things got so much better when they stopped forcing the hate and just start to enjoy each other! They’ve always been each other’s safe place but were unwilling to admit it. Once they come together though?! They are quite an unstoppable force and I can’t wait to see what comes next!

I will say that this wasn’t what I would call a “Dark Romance”. It’s more of a “Romantic Suspense with Dark themes”…and I think that says more about ME than this book because there are definitely scenes of bloody violence. It just didn’t quite hit the darkspot but I loved it anyway! This was a sexy and suspenseful beginning to a new addictive series!

Oh and let me warn you: K. Michelle Spartan-kicks you off that cliff! This was my first book by her and it won’t be my last because I NEED ASYLUM!

The synopsis for Sanctum drew me in. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy it as much as I'd hoped. I think I would classify this book as a dark new adult romance(ish). It ends on a cliffhanger, and does have some interesting moments.
What I didn't like was that it felt almost rushed. I wanted more back story and detail. More build-up between the characters and such. I think my biggest issue was that the characters felt like the same person. When I read each one it just seemed as if I were reading the same personality as the character before. A lot of this book felt awkward to me.
I can see that this author has great potential. I would love to see her work grow. I never like to leave a low rating, but I just wasn't into this.

Oh My Goodness, Cohen "Priest" Russo Hello Hotness!! This book completely caught me off guard. I was hooked with the blurb and now I'm anxiously waiting for book 2!! This ends with a wild cliffhanger!!

Dessa and Cohen meet each other when their eight years old. They only connected when they would meet in the woods behind their houses. After Dessa graduates high school she doesn't know which college to go to and how to say goodbye to Cohen. Little did she know that Cohen would make her so mad that she leaves without even a goodbye. With surprising news, Dessa is back home to find out some truths.

This book is full of secrets, twists and turns and I love that you get dual POV from Dessa and Cohen. This book is full of surprises and you won't want to put it down.

K. Michelle is a new-to-me author and I'm honored to read the ARC of Sanctum for an honest review.

What can I tell you about this book without spoiling?
It's dark. A pretty shade of black and gray with a hint of sunlight through the dark clouds.
The topic is dark, the setting is a dark gray, it's suspense in its brightest form and the love? Yeah, it's a dark clouded sun in the beginning, because Cohen and his Little One Dessa used their hate to overshadow their deep connection and feelings to each other till they decided to let the sun shine.
It was better for them to overshadow their love with hate. Both had a troubled childhood where the only light were the women who breathed somehow life in them. But you will understand when you read it.

The book was nothing I suspected and it's better for you to dive in blind. It's a page turner. It kept me on my toes till the end ... and the end ended in an cliffhanger.
A. Cliffhanger.
But you NEED to read SANCTUM if you like it or not.
I'm putting it mildly when I say I am still shocked!
I need my fix now! Like now now! I need to know how the story will end! (I hope it's in Asylum?!)
The next book is so far away for my liking.

I can tell you that Sanctum will definitely not be my last by K. Michelle.

Is this book trying to kill me, she just left all of us thinking that it was a standalone but turns out that there’s another book coming out later this year. That cliffhanger will F with your head. I am telling you this as a warning to keep us in mind because you might want to strangle the author after you get that final page.

Now onto the book;
The characters had problems flying left and right and that had nothing to do with the writing because it was phenomenal. The storytelling was perfection and the story itself just kept you intrigued to the last final page you will not see that ending coming, I’m telling you right now.

The romance itself could’ve been better but I am not complaining because the story turned out to be more than what I expected with all the mystery elements in it. I wasn’t expecting this book to go where it was going but I am not mad that it did.

Just a warning that this book will definitely not be for everyone but it should at least be something that you try and read. You might end up enjoying it because, let me tell you, that synopsis left out so much from what the story is actually about, that it is quite sad.

The times that my heart was pounding in my chest whilst reading this book can’t even be counted on both my hands. I am so glad that I got an arc of this book before it came out but now I just need to wait a couple more months for the second book to be out. That right there might cause me to pull out my hair in anticipation.

HOLY CANOLI. This book took me for a ride and I am chomping at the bit for Asylum. I was unsure what to expect from this book and author but y’all I was SO damn impressed.

-

Dessa was not the kind of heroine I have read in a lot of romance novels. She was tough as nails and was strong as hell. It’s been a while since I have loved a female lead as much as her. She had a rough childhood, and to be honest she was having a tough adult life too but her grit makes you root for her.

-

Cohen was a dreamboat, dark and depraved but also passionate with a soft spot for Dessa. Starting in his childhood, his dad was grooming him for a very unconventional family business. I seriously just wanted to hug him and play with his hair, he wormed his way into my heart and now I have a huge soft spot for him.

-

I absolutely loved these two’s chemistry, it was perfect. Their banter was so realistic, I loved their little moments. They both had this undeniable pull on one another and always came when the other needed them. Evan was our main side character and I adore him, his charm and his pain are going to be so much fun to learn about in Asylum. Impatiently waiting, I need ALL the answers.

⭐️ 3.5/5

When I first started this book I was so intrigued. I love the way the characters are introduced. The thing they have in the woods melts my heart. Their relationship does escalate quickly for me. I kind of wish there was more angst between them. I wanted that from Cohen’s alpha character. Their relationship did kind of steady out and it took awhile to pick up again, but the story as it’s self was so suspenseful. That ending was so interesting and I wanted to uncover all the plots. There were times Cohen and Dessa did have these moments that drove you insanely crazy. You wanted them together. At first you’d think they were toxic together, but the author shows that they are actually an awesome team. Evan was my favorite. I can’t wait for his book! I recommend to people who love suspenseful romance!

Sanctum was an addictive–and fairly bloody–read that left me reeling and so desperate for more.
I feel like my life has changed after reading this. All I can think is, 'WTF did I just read!'.
I knew it was going to be somewhat dark but I so did not expect this.

Dessa Collins hates Cohen Russo from the first time she had laid eyes on him. The feeling is mutual. The hate stayed there, ever present, as they grew up. It what fuels them. Everyone is and should be afraid of Cohen. Everyone except Dessa. It infuriates and turns him on. Although the hate each other, they are still drawn to one another. They can't help themselves. Their darkness calls to each other. Things are not as it seems and both of them have secrets.

Dessa and Cohen are such complex characters. They are like two sides of the same coin. Dessa is the only girl that can handle Cohen and his darkness and the same can be said for Cohen. They are jagged and broken but they fit together perfectly. I was so surprised with Dessa's character. I did not expect her to be that fierce and proactive in dealing with Cohen's lifestyle–although it did evolve her. She was a little cray cray and somewhat scary and... I loved her. Her character was not docile and she gave as good as she got. She didn't allow Cohen to intimidate her. They belonged to each other and were the only ones allowed to hurt one another.

Gah! After that ending, I'm craving more. I need to know what happens. Although this did end in cliffhanger of sorts, the next book will be about Evan and I can't wait for it. He was such an awesome friend in this book and was also a little cray cray. Dessa and Evan are so much alike. I now have so many questions that I need answered.

HOLY FREAKIN HELL!!!!
Amazed. Shocked. Stressed. Anxious. This book amazed me and I just NEED the second book NOW!
☠️
I have so many questions! The mystery and intrigue in this book was amazing!! The suspense and drama and wow. It’s totally fucked up in all possible ways! Sanctum has me absolutely shook for the most part of the book and I just couldn’t stop reading! I constantly needed to know what would happen next!
☠️
The book really started at 30%. Personally I found the beginning a little confusing and slightly boring but as I continued to read... holy hell it was amazing.
☠️
Cohen’s and Dessa’s relationship happened a little faster than I expected. In the beginning they were filled with heated hate towards each other but then after a while they became a couple. Don’t get me wrong, I loved them so much together but the author should have written a little more about their relationship and explain how their feelings escalated exactly so it would be more understanding, better and more fun for the reader.
☠️
Also, the scenes were so short. I found myself loving a scene so much only for it to end way too fast, way too soon. Some things in this book also happened a little too easily, the author wrote in a way that made it seem easy and not dramatic and real as it should have been, which made the scene underrated, a little unprofessional and not as shocking as it should have been.
☠️
Overall, it was absolutely great, an amazing book and I cannot wait for book 2!

“What in the world I’ve read?! I’m speechless after finishing this story!!! I never expected this story to be this wow! Trust me, whatever you might think about this book it’s a hundred percent better.

Explosive, intense, dark, twisty and a little bit of madness. Sanctum is a mystery, there’s no other way to describe it. If you’re expecting a beautiful and lovely romance this is not the case. This story was way more deeper than just an absorbing romance.

Cohen and Dessa. Such a pair! Their love-hate relationship was confusing and so delightful to read. At first I couldn’t connect with Dessa, she seemed so annoying and frustrating but I get to really liked her after knowing more her. She is a strong character and her attitude toward Cohen was so... funny!? Don’t get me wrong, this pair love to fight each other, insults didn't missed but in their twisted world they are perfect for each other. I love their fightings, their connection but mostly how much they needed each other.

A story full of secrets and mystery but I must tell you this book ends on a cliffhanger, yes, I know but trust me it’s so worth it!! That ending was shocking and so unexpected!! I can’t wait to see how things will end. K. Michelle wrote an amazing story, hope book two comes out soon.”

Holy moly! Where do I even begin with this book? I didn't know exactly what I was getting into, but I binged this book hard and fast. I had to slow down my reading a few times, just so I didn’t miss anything. The storyline pulled me in, and kept me in suspense. There was surprise after surprise, and I didn't see any of them coming.

Dessa and Cohen have always had an unexplainable connection. They are tethered together by their imperfect lives. Their town is full of secrets, and they both want revenge.

Dessa is no damsel in distress, and I absolutely loved that. She is strong, and such a badass. She surprised me at every turn, and even Cohen at times. At first, I was unsure of Cohen. He was coming off as abusive, and a bit rough. By the end of the book though, I was in love. He was an alpha male who knew exactly who his queen was, and treated her as such.

It's hard to write a review, when you just want to rant and rave about how amazing a story is, without giving away any spoilers. The author was able to weave mystery into this dark romance. It kept me on the edge of my seat, and I need more. I hope the next book comes out soon because that cliffhanger was intense.

‘A king will bow to me before I ever drop to my knee for him.’

This book isn’t what I expected at all. It’s suspenseful and twisted, with a hint of darkness.

The MCs have an intense connection from the beginning of their book and their relationship escalates rather quickly.

I would recommend this read too anyone who enjoys a slightly dark frenemies to lovers romance with a hint of revenge.

“Love me with your demons.
They distract mine.”

Little One
Sanctum follows the story of Cohen Russo and Dessa Collins as they navigate their lives between lies, dealing with their demons, past and a close betrayal. From the start, we are thrown into their volatile relationship, and even more volatile personality, which was, to say the least, messy.
Cohen and Dessa found each other when they were eight years old in the forest during a dark night, and they found light inside their newly formed relationship, and for the next nine years before Dessa moved away for college.
Now she's back, and neither is ready to let go of what they had and the possibility of what the future might hold.
“Our eyes lock on to each other, telling secrets our lips are too scared to say.”

Priest
I had many problems with this book that I would like to address.
1. The writing consisted of long paragraphs and unnecessary details, which was excruciating for me to go through. The writing didn't flow and it kept being cut. I often found myself confused as to what happened in the scene I was just reading.
2. The plot was unbelievable, to say the least. While I love my fair share of dark romance, this book didn't have a dark vibe, all the jokes and the lightness of the characters contributed to my disbelief.
For example, in the epilogue, we are in the mind of eight-years-old Cohen, and his thoughts aren't that of an eight-year-old. I can understand young characters going through traumatic events and that their thoughts turn darker, but there is so much I can believe to.
3. Some grammatical errors that, once again, cut me off from whatever flow the book did have.
4. Some of the information was repetitive. Cohen constantly saying he's the Priest of Sanctum, Dessa constantly repeating her traumatic life experiences, characters repeating the same things from different perspectives. It gave me a headache.
5. The characters weren't likable at all. I didn't connect with any of them. I couldn't sympathize with them or even understand where they were coming from. They were passive, bland and in their core, had the same base. None of them changed through the years. From eight years old to twenty-two, they stayed the exact same person.
6. There was no chemistry between Cohen and Dessa, and I couldn't understand the pull between them - I thought it was weird and slightly cringe-y, which brings me to my next point:
7. The plot, the characters and the dynamics between them had no built up. We are thrown together in the middle of everything and before we manage to see the slightest of personality from the main characters, there's a time jump.
Not Dessa, Cohen or Evan had any personality between them, and reading about their interactions was awkward because - how did they meet? What were they like in high school? Show me more of their scenes when they were children in the forest. How they made their pact. How Cohen became who he is. Show me dark - don't show me the aftermath of it.

Do I Scare You?
This book was a trainwreck from the beginning to the end.
None of the twists surprised me, and if the book was about fifty pages longer - I would have probably DNFed it. Nothing about this book made me emotional, curious, shocked or angry. It was passive and it stayed passive until the last word.
I will say it again - there was no built-up to any of the characters, plot twists, dynamics, and the romance.

This book was an anticipated read for me, and I am deeply disappointed.
“Every puzzle piece of you was designed to fit mine, Dessa. Some pieces of you may fit with another man, but you’ll never be whole unless it’s with me. But you know that already, don’t you?”

Holy Hell!!! I loved this book and need Asylum ASAP please!!

This is the first book I have read of K. Michelles! I loved it! The writing was fantastic and flowed so well! This was another book I read in one sitting!!

I adored the three main characters in the story. Dessa was a total badass!! I loved the chemistry between her and Cohen. However, Evan was definitely my favourite!! I can’t wait for his story in book two!!!

The story was not what I was expecting, but OMG! It was great!
Filled with lust, heartbreak, sex, torture, murder, all the blood guts and glory!

And the final twist!!! FML!! I did not see that coming The final page of Sanctum will leave you reeling!!

Sanctum is a dark, twisted, sexy read that hooks you in from the start, and leaves you wanting more
I highly recommend this book and the author!!!

Thank you to the amazing K. Michelle and booksmoodsco including me on this blog tour for Sanctum and for providing me with a copy of the book! this has in no way affected my views or opinions.

Unfortunately, this book was a DNF for me. I read up until 26% but couldn’t connect with either of the characters. I’m bummed because I was super excited for this book, but it ultimately wasn’t for me. The writing was good so that’s definitely a non issue, but for me it was more Cohen and Dessa as there was no build up between them (in my opinion). Asfar as what I saw for the plot, it was almost too vague in the beginning to be intrigued enough to stick out. I wanted to stick it out so bad, but nothing latched on for me.

**I received this book as an ARC for an honest review

Really enjoyed this. The only thing I was a little confused over was the fact that they captured people to get information but failed to get anything from them killing them quickly since cohens job was to interrogate you would think they would have been able to gain more intel. Other than that small thing. This was a really good book and I’m looking forward to the next one.

Do we have a release date asylum yet?

Do we know when the next book is coming out?

So boring, just didn't feel the connection. No backstory, no chemistry.
