Lindsay Ryan spends her days hidden in the basement of a medical university’s archives and her nights online as a pro mah-jong player. She is invisible, anonymous and most of all, safe. Lindsay lives only through the novels she devours every spare moment of her time.

Dr. Gwen Mukherjee invades Lindsay’s sanctuary with coffee dates and conspiracy theories—both of which wreak havoc on Lindsay’s solitary existence. Inexorably attracted to the odd but charismatic doctor, Lindsay can’t keep her distance from Gwen. Neither does she want to. For the first time, Lindsay experiences romance outside the pages of a book.

When Gwen discovers a horrible truth about the town they live in, the unscrupulous company responsible will do anything to keep their secrets safe. And that includes setting Lindsay up as a wanted fugitive to use her as bait to trap Gwen.

Lindsay is thrown into the spotlight.

Now all she has to do is make it out alive.

I freaking loved this!

Now a word of warning, a lot of things that happen in this story could be considered OTT and unrealistic - but that is very much the tone overall. Extraordinary things starting to happen to someone who was otherwise leading a very ordinary, if not down right dull, existence. Everything in this book is definitely ramped up, for the biggest emotional and action-packed reactions possible.

Lindsay is 26, working by day in the copy room at a medical university, while at night working at a gaming club, playing pro mahjong. She's very introverted and lives in her own head a lot. Boy did I relate to Lindsay. She uses books as an escape from her boring life, and dreams of a lady love she thinks she'll never have.

Enter Dr Gwen Mukherjee, (41) who is a bit of a conspiracy theorist and is investigating something dodgy going on... She is quite taken with Lindsay right from their first meeting, just as Lindsay is taken with her. They become fast friends, and then more in no time at all. The romance definitely comes in hot and fast... although at the same time it is also padded out enough with the story and their physicality isn't completely instant, either. So it works. But I can see how some people may not like it. Or the overall tone.

Gwen definitely comes off as 'perfect' in every way. Says all the right romantic swoon-worthy things to melt Lindsay, and to instigate the relationship between them in a way Lindsay obviously never would because she is too shy.

From 60% onward things really ramp up in the action department, when Dr Gwen's investigation results prove true, and an organization comes after her - and Lindsay - to frame them and stop the truth from getting out. It definitely goes a little 'comedic action movie sequence' in some parts. But again, it just kind of works with the overall tone, so I was there for it.

But we also get some very hot epilogues, seeing the two together in sexy and loving ways in the aftermath. It's very much a story of happily ever after for a woman who never thought she would accomplish much of anything. It's definitely one you need to just saddle up for the ride and enjoy.

Holy f&$%balls, Batman, was this a fun--and odd--read or what?

I was provided with this novel (ARC) in exchange for an unbiased review. I've read Ms. Digby's work before, so I'm no stranger to her style, and once again, she does not disappoint. I'm not going to give out the details of the plot; that's for the reader to decide. What I will give is my view on how the author sets up the reader.

We have our MC, Lindsay Ryan, wiling away her days in the basement of a medical university’s archives section. Bored with her job, she spends her nights online as a pro mah-jong player. Solitude is her friend, and she lives a life of semi-loneliness with books, the occasional meal, and her games.

Dr. Gwen Mukherjee invades Lindsay’s solitary existence, and Lindsay finds herself drawn to her. The good doctor comes across as a bit of an oddball at first, but that doesn't stop the attraction. Things heat up when Gwen uncovers a terrible secret that the town is hiding, specifically a company that will do anything to cover things up--and thereby hangs the tale.

Things I liked. Ms. Digby has a fluid style of writing, easily accessible, wordy, but necessary words. No padding. The characters are sharply defined. Dialogue is solid. In fact, outside of a bit of drag in the middle of the novel, the pace is steady all the way through, and as the writer of fast-paced novels myself, I can appreciate a solid tempo.

Overall, a terrific read. Highly recommended.

I love reading one of the MCs is socially awkward, and Lindsay in Uncovered probably is my favorite one. She's quirky, awkward, nerdy, intelligent, and innocent, too innocent that you want to protect her at all cost! It's endearing.

Gwen, the other MCs, unfortunately, I don't click with this character, not because she's a bit of a conspiracy theorist, but almost all of her lines are unrealistic, she'd said something too good, too perfect, too much praise, her instant affection to Lindsay made me suspect is she's going to used Lindsay or what. She took me a lot more chapters to convince me that she meant all good to Lindsay(yes, I felt like an overprotective mother to Lindsay)

It's a fun read. I really enjoy it!

This took me ages to read but only because I was distracted by the darn election.

This was a brilliant read though, and I thought Lindsay was such a great character... she was both naive and intelligent. I just found her rather endearing. Gwen on the other hand, was smokin'... also intelligent, but fierce and knows what she wants. They seemed to bring out the best in one another and they work well together too.

The mystery and danger they faced was shocking at times, but it was mainly because of how Lindsay was... well, just read the book and you'll find out!!

This was a pretty fun read following Lindsey and Gwen through not only their love story but an adventure neither wanted. Keeping up with Lindsey as she comes out of the basement as her romance books and into a life where someone notices her is beautiful to see. Gwen approaches their relationship with determination and confidence and together they end up in a battle for their lives against and unknown foe. You’ll have fun with this story.

I received a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

I loved this book! It has a relatable protagonist, an extremely sweet romance and a few truly crazy scenes. I was hooked from the beginning and I never wanted to put it down. I even dreamed about it, which has never happened to me before! I’ve read one other book by this author before and enjoyed it immensely so I’m really looking forward to trying out the rest of her works.

Some background: I discovered Ms. Digby’s books entirely by accident. She posted in a Facebook group that she was looking for readers for her ARC of Bloodring in exchange for honest reviews and I volunteered because it sounded like a great book (it was!!). I enjoyed it so much that I had to tell Ms. Digby personally just how much (I don’t usually do that because I feel super awkward sliding into people’s DMs, even if my intentions are pure). I’m so glad I took that leap though because she offered me an ARC of both Uncovered and another of her books, Stay, which I eagerly accepted because she’d already had me hooked with Bloodring. Now on to what you really came here for...

I enjoyed Uncovered, although not as much as the other books I've read by Ms. Digby. Unfortunately, I had a harder time connecting with the characters in this book than in the others I've read, particularly with Lindsay (although I love that she has a pet hedgehog - they're dear to my heart for many reasons). But I suppose that's a sign of good writing because Lindsay is very much an introvert. I felt a much deeper connection with Dr. Gwen and enjoyed her brash, somewhat quirky, romantic heroine attitude along with the peeks of her less confident side. Overall, it's a fun read, with lots of diversity, fast-paced action scenes, dangerous intrigue, and steamy love scenes.
