As war with the Scholastic Empire of Wayko looms, the leaders of the Commonwealth of Icarus scramble to develop weapons that will allow them to kill the adult cannibals of the Empire without harming their children. Little Magic continues to mortgage his future to hide their rebellion from his Divine Mother, the Goddess Aurora — who has ordered them to commit all-out genocide against the Waykans, exterminating them "root and branch." That's not the only Divine meddling they have to deal with. Aurora's interference results in a thousand cantankerous new Dixies they have to feed, clothe, and hammer into an army — far more than they'd expected. Worse, each of the 80 clutches is led by an Imp, a strange race created by the world's newest Deity, the Wold. The bat-winged, devil-tailed "Hellspawn" present a unique challenge, but are required for some unspecified future threat. Meanwhile, the Commonwealth expands as nearby Pixie hives and Taura herds sign on. Refugees from the Tejarkán Empire to the East begin to trickle in, the victims of ethnic cleansing by the baseline human population. And Fell Tobias's Dad, Darius Trent, invents a new gas that will kill anyone who's eaten human flesh in the past year. The leaders of the new races, most of whom retain memories of the USA worldline, are horrified to realize he's inadvertently recreated a genocidal weapon once used on their Earth to kill millions. But they agree they have no choice but to use the gas, as their mixed army of large and small races can't stand against the thousands of baseline humans comprising the Empire. They also know the cannibals have to go. But they refuse to kill innocents. They will save the children. Even if it means they're as good as dead when the Goddess finds out. Contains harem elements, some deus ex machina, angry deities, belligerent pixies with swords, a horde of tiny litigious green people, more reproduction than you can shake a stick at, and a world full of insanely beautiful women, most of whom aren't in the least submissive.
