The senile grandma goes in for gallbladder surgery.
Sierra gets a job in a bakery.
Sierra has her first date with a guy at school named Randy. It's his first date too. But instead of going out, they spend it at home playing board games and eating pizza with Sierra's huge family.
She's still thinking about Paul. And Paul visited her grandma in the hospital on the DL.
Another enjoyable volume in the Sierra Jensen series. The only complaint I have is the misleading cover artwork; the first two books describe Sierra as sixteen, yet the girl on the front of the omnibus edition I got from the library looks to be no older than twelve. Perhaps they should have used a different cover girl? Other than that, though, I liked it.
this was so fun! i loved getting to see more of Sierra and her family! i think that’s one thing missing from the Christy books is that she doesn’t have a super close relationship with her brother because he’s so much younger, so it’s fun to see her interacting with her family!
I can't finish it. I can't. She has no passion for wanting to stay with her grandma and her parents are like "we're so proud of you". WHATTT?? She has no drive to want to do it. She has no reason. I am sad because... ROBIN JONES GUNN DID A FANTASTIC JOB ON CHRISTY MILLER (instill the last 2 books)☺️ I just wish she had written this better I just have to DNF

The book begins with everyone in Sierra's family leaving for different reasons: her sister on a ski trip with friends, her mom to help a family member, her dad and brothers on a fishing trip. This leaves Sierra home alone to care for her grandmother, who has dementia. So when Sierra's grandmother tells her that her doctor said she needs surgery to remove her gallbladder, Sierra thinks she's having an episode and is wrong. Once she realizes her grandmother wasn't wrong, she helps her get to the hospital and tries to contact her parents.
Sierra goes on her first date, though it doesn't go as expected. She sees Paul again and receives a letter from him - through a chain of people. Sierra also tries to get a job.
Not the most interesting, but I'm leaving the rating I originally gave it when I first read it.
In Your Dreams was a good read. Her grandmother unexpectedly had to have her gallbladder removed when Sierra was the only one home, so she had to make the decision to take her. Sierra gets her first job, has her first date, and has plans made for her to go visit her friends (Christy, Katie, etc.). The ending was sweet (Sierra finds out Paul gave her grandmother flowers and visited with her).

Summary: The rest of Sierra’s family are gone for the weekend, leaving Sierra to look after her ageing grandmother alone. Things were going fine until she gets a call that Granna Mae needs emergency surgery. Can Sierra handle everything on her own?
My thoughts: I can't imagine being in Sierra's shoes, caring for her grandmother with dementia all alone - even if it's just for a weekend. Then to hear that her grandma needs surgery and having to handle that with no one else to help (except by phone) would be very difficult. I feel so bad for Sierra's sister, Tawni. She feels less than the rest of her siblings because she’s the only one who was adopted. She feels like she is not loved, nor a true part of the family because she wasn’t born into it. That is so sad, and I hope that in future books maybe some of this could be resolved for her. I think Sierra’s ‘first date’ thing was kind of funny. And cute. Sierra’s guy is really sweet. I love how in these books and the Christy books the characters are really good at recognizing when God does something. They don’t brush it aside as luck or coincidence – it’s 100% a “God-thing” as Katie would say. They give Him all the glory and credit for orchestrating things. I think it’s a good reminder, because we often forget to give God the glory for the small things as well as the big things. I’m really enjoying this series so far; I’m excited to read more about Sierra Jensen!
I really love this book, I love how Sierra has common struggles as a teen and try’s to always put God in her life. Sierra is like many new teens trying to make friends and it can be hard at times, as she started working and ends up meeting randy. I didn’t really like how randy fit in it felt random and how he generally was trying to replace “ Paul”. Overall I enjoyed this book!
Sierra Jensen is back at it again with her daily life adventures! Robin Jones’ book “In Your Dreams,” the second book in the Sierra Jensen series, is a great book to continue her story. She deals with common girl problems, all the while trusting God to get her through. If you're dealing with similar instances, “In Your Dreams” is the book for you!
3.5 stars - The plot wasn't super complicated, just an easy read. The Sierra books have a lot more family action than the Christy books, and I appreciate that the family is funny and realistic. While I identify with Christy's personality more, Sierra is just an enjoyable, quirky heroine.
"I thought it was cool, that even with all the difficult things happening in Sierra's life, she remains strong and even finds many friends along the way." -Cadee, age 12
In Your Dreams (Sierra Jensen, #2) by Robin Jones Gunn This book follows Sierra as she finds new friends at her school, searches for a job, and takes care of her grandmother while the rest of the family is away. Health issues arise and she deals with them every way she knows how. She also has a first date and we catch up with what's going on with the rest of the family and her religious retreat friends that she wants to visit.
Follow along with Sierra as she tries to figure out how to live comfortably in this new town. This book was pretty enjoyable, I thought it was interesting to see the world through Sierra's point of view. I would recommend to fans of the Christy Miller series.
I grew up reading these and the Christy Miller series; they greatly influenced my teen years. Christy was always the star of the series but I feel like Sierra is a much better fleshed and, maybe, more interesting character. I enjoy reading about fumbling through making new friends in a new town and dealing with all the Paul feelings. I always enjoy rereading these.
Not the best book in the series, but definitely worth reading and has a good message for young adults. High School junior Sierra Jensen deals with finding a job and caring for a grandmother who suffers from memory loss all while trying to find a way to relate to her older sister Tawni and to Paul, a guy she met on a trip to England.
