Their mission was to save the world. Will they be able to save themselves?
In Portland, a crisis looms—and Miranda stumbles upon a secret. It might be the key to avert catastrophe, but only if she gains the trust of an unreliable ally.
Mario’s journey to San Jose is complicated by an unexpected discovery that brings what he’s lost into stark relief—and reminds him of what he still has to lose.
Faced with a reckoning, Miranda must make things right, while Mario risks everything, even the people he loves. Can they finish their mission and find their way back to one another, or will they become another casualty of the Undead Age?
A.M. Geever is the award-winning author of The Undead Age and Steel City Apocalypse zombie apocalypse adventures. She also writes gritty post-collapse fiction in her Fire in the Sky series, where a solar flare brings modern civilization to its knees. A sci-fi enthusiast who dreamed of Starfleet command, she loves to write about impossible choices, no-win scenarios, and bad behavior. She shares her home with her husband, two cats with impeccable manners, and a pair of Blue Heeler/Catahoula hellhounds who have two speeds: fast and snuggle.
Book 2 Damage in an Undead Age was brutal. Lives were lost and the people left behind were ruined. The dystopian world in which they live is not the only desolate landscape in this book.
Miranda is racked with grief and in her despair she pushed away her one true love, Mario. For his part Mario is crushed under the weight of depression and guilt and chooses revenge as his purpose in life.
And that is what this book is about. The dystopian world they live in is a backdrop for the real story which is about loss, grief, depression, anger .... and ultimately about the journey to self forgiveness and redemption.
It was anything but an easy journey, things happen which I'm certain the author will be receiving letters about, but it's a worthwhile journey. Without any doubt in my mind this series is the most original take on the sub-genre that is zombie fiction.
I love this series! Miranda and Mario and Rocco are favorites of mine and like the books before this, they got one heck of a story. AM does a fantastic job spinning this tale, believably, over this 3 series span. Pick up the first if you've not done so and forge ahead. If you've read 1 and 2 - what are you waiting for? Reckoning in an undead age is the last and final book in the Undead Age series. I’m extremely sad and exhilarated at the same time because Reckoning is such a great story with amazing characters I fell in love with and whom I’m going to miss but sad because this journey is over.
I devoured this book almost in one sitting. I have an absolutely acceptable reason why it took me 2 days. I had to sleep and work…yeah I know, lame.
What I loved the most about this book was that it took me half a chapter to get back into the story. Geever is so wonderful with creating an atmosphere that will not let you go. And with emotions too. Love, hate, betrayal, friendship, lust and everything in between.
And the characters? Love them all! The old ones and the new ones too, especially the children. Violet and Silas are super sweet and I so loved the way Silas took care of his little sister. I can mention just one thing that kept making me insane. Miranda doesn’t like coffee. I love her immensely but how can she not love coffee?! She and Mario still drove me mad but in a good way. And they finally find their way back to each other. Doug and Skye are my favourite couple though. They’re so cute together, I could feel their love for each other through the pages.
I want…no no no need a new story with them, with all of them.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review, thank you very much.
Whew! The final book of the Undead Age trilogy is here and it's everything I'd hoped for. A.M. Geever skillfully takes us down divergent paths, while weaving together the stories of the characters we've come to know and love (faults and all) from the previous two books, along with the introductions of new characters who intrigue, challenge, heal, and reveal them. I enjoyed the pacing and found the degree of suspense engaging without tipping over into panic-inducing - which is much appreciated considering that real life can be anxiety-inducing enough. Zombie apocalypse fiction might not be my usual genre of choice, but Geever's writing pulled me in and kept me there with a satisfying mix of laughter, tears, titillation, struggle, and hope. Well done!
Requisite disclaimer: I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The undead age series has been a delight to read. The author does a great job of building the characters throughout. I never felt the story being rushed along while at the same time looking forward to what happens next. Practically no typos thankfully. I also liked the absence of politics and needless violence. While zombies need to be discharged, the human battles were handled with reason and restraint. I recommend this series highly.
I absolutely loved all three of the undead age books. I love how we see different sides to Mario and Miranda and how there relationship changes. I was annoyed with Mario is the last book then in this one, his soft nurturing side. The way he is with Silus and Violet it changed my view of him completely. Such a great book. An not wait to read more books from A. M. Geever as I am definitely hooked 😊
I thoroughly enjoyed this series! The characters are on the move, never any stagnation and the outcomes are totally unpredictable. If I could use only one word it would be FUN. This is a fun series that also contains a lot of authentic emotional tension and intrigue. Characters aren’t possessed by one drive or emotion but spun amidst a multitude of motivations and, well, I’m gushing over here. It’s just so nice to RELAX with a book like this. Highest recommendation for readers seeking FUN!
This is the final segment of the story of Miranda and Mario and it's worth the read! It's a little slow at the very beginning, mostly because I was so anxious for something to happen with Miranda and Mario. But then it gets exciting!
Miranda and Mario have been through just about everything you can think of together and apart. After the ending to book 2 I was frustrated with where they were. So I had to see what happened! They are still dealing with losing their baby. Their lives changed when they conceived, and completely changed again after the loss. You go through the struggle of loss with her, the bad decisions, the absolute heartache, the regret of how she handled the whole situation with Mario. The same with Mario. Each have a task they join to complete to help the group, both trying to distance themselves from the heartbreak and trying to move on. Each face incredible challenges with the apocalypse destruction and fight for survival in dangerous situations, which is where there is so much excitement. Going through these situations makes each realize while apart that need to be together because nothing is right while apart. And losing friends draws on those strings to pull them together. Tears! I was shocked at a couple!
There are some new characters introduced in this final phase. Silas was my favorite. A little boy alone with his sister and her rabbit managing to make it through each day on their own. Thank goodness Mario finds them!
Finally they end up in the same place at the same time! The relief that they are both still alive, that they might just be able to finally put the worst of the past behind them.
This series was fun for me to read. A.M. Geever has grown in her writing, story telling, imagination! I look forward to her next series!
Reckoning in an Undead Age is the third and last book in the Undead Age trilogy. Like the two books before it, Reckoning in an Undead Age kept me glued to my seat racing to the end to see how it all was going to turn out.
I was pulled into its depths from the first page with never a dull moment in between. Like always when it comes to zombies I couldn’t get enough as I raced through page after page.
A.M. Geever kept my heart racing each time they found themselves surrounded by zombies. I didn’t know if they were going to find a way out or not. My heart would leap into my throat each and every time.
In Times like this the atmosphere was so thick with tension that part of me wanted to look the other way but the biggest part of me said no way Jose I just couldn’t stop looking and reading as I had to know if they were going to be ok or not. I was hooked by all the suspense and the not knowing how it was going to turn out.
Don’t get me wrong I live for all the zombie fighting scenes. A.M. Geever knows how to build a world that keeps you wanting and coming back for more. The descriptions are so vividly written making it so very easy to picture each and every scene in my head as if I was right there and at times I felt as if I were.
I love this world that was created for the Undead Age trilogy. I am so sad to see it end. I do hope to see more of these characters and this world in a spin-off maybe.
I love this Undead Age world so much that I highly recommend it to all zombie fans! Grab your copy of Reckoning in an Undead Age today!
But I do suggest that if you haven’t read the first two books yet then let me recommend that you do. The sooner the better I say.
I was so happy with how this book wraps up the story. The first two books really got me invested in some relationships, and I loved the reconciliation that happens! It was also great to be introduced to some new characters that I fell in love with! I couldn't believe how quickly I finished this one. I was so excited to be back in this world, but I also didn't want it to end!
If you haven't read this series yet, and you enjoy apocalypse stories definitely grab this series!
I was provided a gifted copy of this book for free. I am leaving my review voluntarily.
The author focuses on the details that bring this story of zombies and especially the characters to life. I enjoyed the humor and I love the mix of the ten people thrown together and now living closely in the lodge. (I do think that it goes too far in the sex scenes. I prefer to imagine, not join a couple in The act.) The story really ramps up with excitement towards the end which made me hate having no more to read until the next book! It is a good read if you don't mind a bit of language and those scenes I mentioned.
This was by far one of my best post apocalyptic trilogies and I have read a lot!! I found Miranda so frustrating but understandable thanks to the author’s empathetic treatment of her story. I loved Mario and his heart. All the other characters were also well fleshed out and I became truly immersed into the undead world they lived in. The story had me in all my feelings; frustrated, angry, excited, frightened, heartbroken but loving it all the way. Looking forward to more stories in this world by the author.
Another really enjoyable story to this exciting, zombie, romance series! A little higher level of angst but great levels of tension & action helped to balance this out! Good idea, great storyline made it a fun read! I have really liked all of this series & do recommend to anyone that loves this genre!
Great story! I like the "new" Mario. I can almost visualize myself there with them. The new discovery in the woods had me surprised but it totally made sense. Keep those kinds of books coming!
