One night with a handsome stranger. An ancient race, a noble bloodline.

Mathilda Guevera never knew of her true heritage until the night she unexpectedly transformed into a wolf. From that moment on she vowed to keep her abilities hidden from humans and Lycans alike, afraid of the consequences if her existence was discovered.

But years later this resolve is tested when she is irresistibly drawn to a fellow Lycan; a man who makes her breath catch in her throat and her blood boil with desire. They spend a single, passionate night together, but she leaves before he can even discover her name.

However she cannot stay hidden forever, and when he inevitably tracks her down, he introduces her into a hidden Lycan world of wealth, privilege and power. Sparks fly and their mutual attraction cannot be denied, but how well does she really know him?

Has she finally found the family she always dreamed of or is there something darker lurking beneath the shadows?

Brilliant new shifter book!

Mathilda is a lone wolf shifter hiding what she is from humans and other wolves. One day she meets another Lycan called Aaron she has an instant undeniable attraction to and they share a passionate night together.
They meet again by chance and Mathilda is thrust into a high society life full of werewolves and nobility and has to navigate her way through the politics and history of this new world whilst grappling with her attraction to Aaron.

I loved reading about the lycan history and felt things were described really well. Mathilda was an excellent heroine, strong and capable but with vulnerability.
The sexual scenes were well written without being overly descriptive and the chemistry between the couple really worked.

There were some sentences that were repeated a few times within pages of each other which could have been edited out but other than that I really enjoyed this book!

Mathilda Guevera, is a half breed, half mexican, have wolf shifter. She's been on her own since her mother died at twelve and she never knew her father. She's kept to herself and avoided other Lycans accept for the day she was on top of the world after accepting a job and found a delicious Lycan she celebrated with in a glorious one night stand. Disappearing on him without a trace.

Aaron Peterson is also a half breed but he is the go to man for his pack leader to get jobs done. After one night with Mathilda he tries to find her but he never even got her name.

Fast forward eight months, Aaron shows up at a crime scene after Mathilda served justice and remembers her scent and hunts her down. She's a lone wolf and he isn't sure he can trust her.

When the story is focused on Aaron and Mathilda they have sizzling chemistry even when they are both trying not to be interested. Most of the story is full of the pack backstory, wolf politics, corruption, prejudices, abuse and those fighting against it.

Engaging read, and an interesting twist on shifters, but it gets a bit bogged down by too many unnecessary details. Be aware this is only the beginning of their story. While I realize all the backstory is important I wanted a bit more romance. I'm hoping now that the world building has been done the next book in the series will be even better.

**There is abuse and fighting**

Wow, this was a pretty intense book. Mathilda has been on her own for a while and she knows that she is different. She knows that she is a lycan. However, what she does not know are the pack laws. She has had a rough life and she keeps to herself until one day that all changes. She steps in to help someone out. Well she did not expect for what was to happen next. She ends up meeting a pack leader who wants to know more information about her. Unfortunately she does not know much about who her father is. Does she want to know? Well no matter she is about to find out. Mathilda just wants to go about her life. She has learned a lot about the pack but it is not for her. So what will happen? Will she be able to break free of this pack? There is a lot of action, fighting and some steamy scenes. Overall this was a great book.

Beautiful book cover aside, there sadly weren’t much in Lone Bitch for me to like. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure that there are people out there who would enjoy it, but I was not one of those people. Seeing as romance is the most important to me in any book and this one, although technically had it, did not put much focus on it, I lost interest pretty quickly.

The story was a lot more focused on pack hierarchy and the society of werewolves and how prejudice and outdated it was compared to human society. The unjust treatment of both women and “bastards” was something in it that could have pulled me in to the story when the romance didn’t, but for such a heavy subject it was surprisingly drama-free. The story was filled with these injustices that should have had a character who grown up in the human world, like Mathilda did, react strongly. She did not. Hell, she was abducted from her home and dragged to an unknown mansion in the middle of nowhere and barely even objected. Instead of being scared out of her mind she was curious and excited to find out who her father was and went along without any struggle. The same when she witnessed these horrible unjust scenes throughout the book and even found out what Houghton house was. She didn’t think much of it, maybe a bit curious and even laughed it of, but that was it. It was only when she herself, pretty predictably to everyone except herself despite all the obvious signs, became the victim to it that she finally had some sort of human response.

In general I did feel that most characters was pretty shallow, showing very little emotion behind their reactions and actions, which is probably the main reason as to why I couldn’t find any interest in this book. The lack of personality and emotion behind the characters removed the drama and worst of all the romance from the story. It is very hard to see any relationship forming behind two people being so generic and emotionless. All I could see between Mathilda and the barely love interest Aaron was a physical attraction and breaking the ice dialogues. There was nothing deeper there to see or like when neither character had any depth to begin with.

I do have to give props for the main villains of the story though. Them I actually liked since I was not seeing their true colors in the beginning. That sudden switcheroo was very unexpected and unpredictable, and honestly they were the only characters that actually had something more to them that drew my curiosity and interest. It is because of them that I am giving this book two stars instead of one.

Lone Bitch is an engaging paranormal shifter romance thriller that has an awesome storyline and strong characters. It is a page-turner. This story introduces diversity into a shifter community and touches on elements of classism, racial and ethnic biases, and prejudice as these wolves, like humans, see some as less than and others as more superior. These elements made the story believable and brought a realism to the characters that made you love them and in some cases, intensely dislike them.

The female protagonist, Mathilda Guevera, had a rough upbringing outside of the shifter community. She finds her shifter family. However, all is not what it seems or should be. She is strong and resilient as she has to overcome so much, including a devastating betrayal. The male protagonist, Aaron, has always been an outsider in his own family because he is not pure blood. He finds his strength and a love worth fighting for with Mathilda. He too has much to overcome to get to happiness and true freedom. The way that these two characters come together is both steamy and sweet. You root for them throughout the story and really want to see things end well for them individually and as a couple. The ending definitely left me wanting more.

I really enjoyed this book, as it’s not the usual type of wolf story, at first I thought it was going to be about a half shifter female (Mathilda) meeting a wolf (Aaron) and reuniting with the pack and finding family.

The above is part of the book, however, it dives into elitism and hierarchy, bloodlines and politics.

After finding out who her father was, Mathilda realises that she is happier as a lone wolf and leaves the pack house, not realising that no one says no to the pack leader.

After a horrific meeting, she sees that her life is controlled by “Antrim” and his plans for Mathilda don’t look prosperous for her!.

But why the reaction, the lies and deceit?

Follow Mathilda as she tries to navigate this treacherous life she has landed in.

The only thing I found disappointing was that while the lead up was great, the main part of the story felt rushed and the end was anticlimactic, which you would expect if this was the beginning of a series.

Lone Bitch is an interesting book. The world is pretty cool with some fascinating details, such as a good reason lycans would have accumulated wealth. The characters are believable, and the plot was pretty decent.

However, this is not a paranormal romance. It has a few adult scenes, but the primary focus of this book is the mystery and light suspense.

The sex scenes are not the most descriptive, which may be better to some people. You get the idea, but it lacks what one would expect from a normal paranormal romance. It skirts around the action.

Aging is not explained well, so it can be a little confusing. Do these lycans age normally? It seems that way until you get to the near end. For now, I am confused about how long everyone lives.

While this book has a few problems, they are forgivable and I would still recommend it. It was entertaining and mostly kept my interest, I’m going to read and review the next book. You should give this one a shot!

Entertaining, with Great Potential

I liked this book; it has great potential for a good series. If several areas were more fleshed out or elaborated upon a bit more, I would love it.

I enjoyed the potential connection between Aaron and Mathilda, however stilted it came across at times. Actually, that’s how I would describe a lot of the described interactions: stilted. That, along with some questionable formatting in sentence/paragraph structure is why I have it a 3 star instead of 4/5.

Still, the book was entertaining, held my attention, and made me want to read the next one! I’m very interested to know how the author will flesh out the story, and bring more life into the characters. I will definitely add any future books to my TBR because I want to know what happens, and I think the stories could be awesome.

Matilda didn’t deserve anything that had happened to her, she had a great life even though she wasn’t in a pack. If she hadn’t helped save a girl from a sadistic man and cut herself and left some of her blood on the electric box. Aaron wouldn’t have found her and took her to meet her family. But she turned into a black wolf like her father, which they told her that her father was dead and then told her the wrong name. But Roger the leader didn’t want to lose everything to Matilda so he put her in his whore house after beating her up. Aaron was also a half blood so he had to do what he was told, Roger was constantly beating him up very bad. So Aaron needed help in escaping from him, so he went to some people for help. But Matilda was drugged up by Roger to kill her, but she fought it and killed him instead. Finally Aaron found her and they were together and safe.

I feel like this book or the writer just hadn't decided whether she wanted to write a romance or a thriller.
THE characters felt extremely underdeveloped. The word Mate is mentioned only once and just in passing. The werewolf community seemed more like a cult than a community I guess.

Question:How did she kill a guy while being high? That seemed a bit too out there and unrealistic.

Every time I read her name I expected something to start levitating, and I pictured a grandma, a wrinkly one.

Too much time was spent explaining stuff that was not as important as the stuff that should've been explained but wasn't. Too much useless detail.. I mean I don't have to know what every room looks like but I do have to know how she feeling and what she think... In general.

THE way she spoke was robotic at the least, some parts were good but mostly... Just Meh. And that goes or all the characters.

*I received this book from BookSirens for free to read and provide an honest review.*

I found this book to be an easy read. Once I picked it up, I read it fairly quickly. It was a fairly engaging book and I did feel for Matilda and all that she had gone through. I wish there had been more development on her past experiences instead of a quick mention here and there about the traumatic things that she experienced. This part of the story seemed to be glossed over, yet had an important impact on why she was the way she was. It was a good story, but some parts felt a little rushed. She seemed a little on the gullible side, but in a way also street smart too. It was an odd juxtaposition.

I would recommend this book if you are looking for a quick read. It had a sweet romance built in. The ending was a little of a cliffhanger, but it is leading into the next book in this series.

From the title this book 1 of a trilogy. And as this is book one we are introduced to a world of lycan and humans and pack dynamics . This book goes in details about packs ,blood lines and alphas rules. Which is a big part of the story background.

Our main character Matilda is a half breed wolf birch introduced to the pack for the first time after being discovered as a wolf by Aaron . But after being raised human she decides to leave the pack and go on her own after being unsatisfied with pack life and politics. . But the ruling alpha doesn't want to let her go and has her kidnapped - trouble follows as Aaron and others try to free her. But unrest is coming to the Lycan world and where will it lead. Interesting first book and looking forward to seeing where this series go and what happens to Matilda and Aaron.

This is a wonderful book by a wonderful new author I came across.

I have a serious weakness for Shifter books and this one did not disappoint at all. Its a great read and this author adds lots of back stories to each of these characters and who they came from.

Mathilda is so innocent to the ways of the pack life. She is such a lone wolf, the title is very very fitting. But shes strong and can handle herself if needed. She is a survivor and that is what I love about her.

Aaron oh Aaron he is so naive to all the goings on around him.To severe extent of evil around him in some of the wolves souls and who is in cahoots with who. It makes me laugh, its like funny little twist to the story.

I so look forward to reading the next book in this series.

We are introduced to Mathilda and learn that she is hiding from her own kind, the Lycan. Throughout this book we discover not only why, but meet others who share her same species. She is hesitant to meet others like her, but ends up getting thrown into it without much choice.

I found this book to have some dark themes, but I enjoyed the story it told. It lost only a star because at times I found the descriptions to be lacking, and the dialogue sometimes seemed basic and under developed for each person. I found myself liking the characters, sometimes being frustrated at the decisions they made(or failed to make).

I’m looking forward to seeing how Mathildas’ story continues in the next book!

Received an advanced reader copy from BookSirens in exchange for an honest review.

This story follows Mathilda, a werewolf that lived a lonely life with a werewolf pack. Until one day, she is discovered by one of the largest packs in America and its ruthless pack leader. Will she join the pack and be a part of her wolfy heritage, or stay alone forever?

An entertaining read, I don't often read these shifter books but I think I should start reading more now, ha. Awesome descriptions of the "pack" hierarchies and politics, it was fascinating to read. The romance was well done as well, a great love interest there.

My only issues were with the dialogue, it felt stilted/robotic at times but other times it was fine. It kind of kept flip-flopping. The writing was good otherwise!

***3.5 stars***

I liked this book but it was on the slow side. The story was well written and not your typical Lycan story. There is action, realism, classism, abuse, and some steamy scenes. The majority of the story focuses on the packs background, wolf politics, and those that are fighting. For me it was to much details on those aspects and glossing over Matilda. I wanted to know more about how she is who she is. Other parts of the story seemed a little rushed and would have give the characters more depth.

Overall, this story has given great potential for the rest of the series. I plan to continue reading more of this series. I would like to see how the story turns out.

I am not sure how to write this review. I have read a few shifter books but none have been so detailed in the high archery of bloodlines before. Some of it was confusing. But that aside this was a good book. I liked Aaron and how he tried to protect Matilda even though he didn't know everything himself. I loved how strong and courageous Matilda was. She was determined to live her own life without a pack. This book is a good read and I did really get into it. I had a hard time putting it down. I just wished it would have ended a little different. I liked how Aaron found Matilda but I wanted her to take her rightful place and put all the haters in their rightful place as well!

Who is Mathilda and where/what is she at and doing at the beginning of the story? Who is the mystery man she meets in Chicago? What happens that upsets her? Who are Roger and Hildegarde? Who are the Antrims? What do we learn about them? What do we learn about Mathilda Guevera? What do we learn further on? Who are Becker and DOn? What happens when Mathilda tells Roger she is going back to her job sets a serious chain of events off! Read and see how this first book ends! Woah.....

This book was sent to me for a honest review from BookSirens.

This book was an overall good book. There was nothing that was necessary bad about it, but I felt that the pacing was off. I found that when I hit the 50% mark, I had started to speed read and skip sentences because I felt the book became very slow. It wasn't until the 85% range that I had gotten back into the story line. The ending was an overall good conclusion, but I would have liked it to have fleshed out the ending plot twist.
Hopefully the sequel with fully dive into the trauma that the main character had faced and how it had emotionally impacted her love interest.

This book turned out to be more than just an entertaining read. I was surprised at how the story kept me glued to my reader from the first chapter until the very last. The heroine Mathilda is a force to be reckoned with as she strives to fit in to her new life within the pack. An action packed, kickass storyline that left me wanting more! This is a bang up start for the series and I hope the sequel is coming soon! Very nice!

This was a very good read. Mathilda is a very strong character and is determined to thwart all obstacles that are thrown in her way. She overcomes her own insecurities and becomes a stronger woman with each problem she beats. She is reluctant to trust, but has a good sense for who is with her and who is against her. I could relate to Mathilda and all that she is going through and the struggles she is facing. With the help of people she finally realizes are friends she learns to trust and possibly to love. An adult fantasy read about a shifter who must not reveal herself. When she discovers her heritage she meats a powerful shifter whom she is very attracted to. This starts a new journey for her and opens a new world that she is not sure about and may contain danger. An interesting read and the author employs great skill in character development. I personally can live without sexual scenes, and prefer innuendo, but it’s not done to excess in this book and is in keeping with the plot and characters.

A book that will be appreciated by those who enjoy shifter stories with an adult bent.

Mathilda and Aaron meet by chance and have a one night stand. She runs away the next day and goes back to avoiding all other lycans like she had done before. When Aaron finds her again he finds himself in a precarious predicament. She is brought into her family’s pack and he does everything he can to keep her safe, but will it be enough in the end?

This was an excellent werewolf story despite the title. There are a couple of sex scenes, but this book focuses more on the story and less on the sex than a lot of the werewolf books out there. There are some physically violent scenes that might bother some folks. I think that this story is really good and I would recommend it. I am looking forward to reading the next one if this turns into a series.

Mathilda is a girl trying to survive and keep her Wolf side hidden. After getting a job she’s excited about she packs up and moves to the middle of nowhere. Just when she thinks life is good things go sideways. This shifter story is a darker seedier paranormal story. The characters are well developed and the storyline is well written. I found this read enjoyable and believe there will be another in this series and I am intrigued and want to see where her story may lead.

The Lone Bitch is a book that takes you for a ride. It opens with Mathilda risking her secret to save another woman. This led her to find her family, but nothing is as seems. I couldn't put it down once I started the book. My only problem with the book is that some scenes had too many named characters present at once.

I have just finished Lone Bitch and I truly loved this story. I found the old patriarchal views being challenged by a 21st century women really spoke to me. Though the main character has super traits due to being a lycan, the strength and reasoning she draws on to resolve her situation is very relatable. I love the story so much I have already started on the second book in this series! I received an advance copy of this book for free.
